I'd Like to know members birthdays on their info page

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Hey Dave, I really do like the members birthday feature, but is their any way to make it so that the members birthday is listed somwewhere in their personal info page if they have offered that information? I don't check the members b-days every day and I would like to not miss wishing some DG'ers a happy day. I would like to be able to go to someones personal page and see it listed if that is possible please. Thanks

Susan

Hello Susan.

Did You Know that You Can Click on My Info at the Top of this Page and then Click on Manage Your Preferences and then Click on Customize Your Home Page then Customize Your Home Page...and...
All the Current Days Birthdays(Subscribers and Members) Will Always be in the Position You've Chosen on the Right or Left Side of Your Home Page When You Sign-In.

ZZ, I think what Susan's asking for is a little different - she's wanting to be able to go to any member's page and see their birthday (if they provided it), since sometimes you might miss someone's birthday and you want to send belated wishes; or (for those that are really organized), to be able to plot (errrr...plan) ahead to surprise a friend on their special day ;o)

Dave, maybe it could go in the box titled "[username] wants you to know:"

Speaking of which...could that be section be changed slightly to read

[Username] wants you to know:

The current time for me is [whatever]
I live in [city/state/country]
My USDA zone is [whatever]
My birthday is [MM/DD] (if you agree to add it to their homepage.)

Yes, Terry, thats what I mean and thanks ZZ!

You know I would even settle on the birthdays being in chrono order in the page where they are listed! August 8 if you were checking,

in the Memberlist you can browse members by birthdays at the end of the page.

bigcityal if you click on the green display, that says Day of signup and state etc etc you will see that you get them sorted, SOO click on Birthday and you will get then sorted in dateorder. You can also click only subcribers FIRST and that narrows the search down.

Thanks Janett
It must be the default to bring them up by subcription date then.

Janett, yes I have done that and after spending lots of time searching, I still came up empty handed.. It would be great to have the birthdays on the members info page.

If you came up empty handed that means that the person hasn't admitted his/hers birth date
Janett
Edit to say, Yes it would be nice to have it on the homepage of that person, BUT there isn't any guarantee that the person would admit it there either.

True, but it sure would be easier than spending forever searching for it, and going back and redoing it just incase I missed it. :)

Susan, perhaps if you went to the 'DG Birthday list' on the 'Extras' page, you could just check out each month 1 at a time, all members with submitted birthdays are listed there. Subscribers are easy to see, mentioned in red. If you can't remember, do you have a calendar reminder on you interenet provider? All you have to do is put the event into the calender on the correct date, then set up a reminder and you will get a little message at the bottom of the page for however long before you want, I do it for dentist appointments, a reminder for 24 hours before. It also sends an email, that is with AOL.

This way you are less likely to miss it, as you can forget to look at the members page even if it was on there.

Thats perfect!!....... If I were that organized in life!! :)

These are helpful workarounds using existing tools, but personally I tend to agree with Susan's suggestion - being able to see a member's birthday on their home page is the easiest/fastest way to look up a particular member's info. The monthly lists are great if you want to see who else has a birthday in the same month as you.

Done!
