Morning All,
Here's the daily con't from
http://davesgarden.com/place/t/573850/

Have a good day all,
Kelly

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well I have been MIA today. Out shopping and home cooking and cleaning for my family tomorrow. This is awful, even paid DGD and her friend Jenna to help me clean today. They are 9 and 8 respectively. Hey they did a good job, and it only cost me $10.00 each. Cheaper than a cleaning lady. I really should wait and clean after the dinner, but didn't want them seeing all the cob webs and dust. Will save them for some other time. I have it all under control now though, thanks to the youngins. Oh, BTW, they were tickled with the $10.00. Please don't accuse me of using slave labor!! LOL.

Sarv, a book on organizing. Why waste time by reading about it, just do it!! I know, I am an organized person, and I know others are not, something easy for me is not for you. My sympathies. And an unclogged drain/septic system. Hoorah. If you had to sit on his legs to keep him from falling in, why did you not just keep him there, and get all kinds of promises from him. So, okay by me, more $$ for plants. I don't like candy, and would rather have flowers that I have grown, so seems like a good deal to me.

Molly, I have liriope, and it spreads everywhere. I have spent 7 years digging and moving it to try to contain it. Hope you don't have that problem.

Meezer, The Crab Ragoon sounds like a good recipe. I went to the Ky RU last year and had a class on making won tons. Yes, you use water (finger dipped in water) then run over the sides to seal it. Sometimes they don't look pretty, but hey they taste good. And on Cabin Fever, it hasn't been cold enough yet for that to hit me. And the pics of Sammi and Mini are adorable. Me thinks that Mimi likes Sammi, but just doesn't want to show it.

BABS- Happy birthday, for whenever you return.

Jasmeer, Hope you have a good trip. And thanks for the good wishes on my family dinner tomorrow. Been cooking and cleaning all day. Next time I will save the cleaning until after.

Mary, Lumpia sounds good. I will surely try it. And the method of levitation, would be good if it would work. Try training those horses better. I have never tried alfalfa sprouts. Where do you get the seed?

DR, now you hold that greenhouse down. I don't think that they would replace it a second time. And I am so sorry to hear of DH problems. I will put him on my prayer list and the one at church. Hope it turns out that it is something treatable, and minor. (((( Hugs )))) to you and DS.

101, put down the 2x4, and walk away. Take a deep breath. DH has been so good with the plants, and pics to show us, how can you even consider it over a trivial thing as septic problems. ( I am sure that that is how it is interpreted from a male standpoint). Don't they just drive you crazy sometimes, and then can turn around and be so sweet? As my DM would say, "it will all come out in the wash". LOL

GG, hey that nap sounded so good, I took one myself. Then I wonder why I can't sleep at night. Think this "baby" has it's night and days mixed up. LOL

KidneyGuy, I always make my strogonoff with ground beef and noodles. Any way you make it, it sure is good. That and a salad makes a good meal.

Darius, that dinner with DB sounds good. Hope you have a good time.

dmc, I sure hope that you get to feeling better. Hope it is allergies instead of a cold. I have been taking Vitamin C this winter, and so far so good.

Ozarkian, you fished with snow in the boat? How weird is that? I usually think of fishing with warm sunshine and balmy breezes. And you mean that those fish actually bit in that kind of weather? If I were a fish, I would be at the bottom of the lake seeking the warmer temperatures. You are just taking advantage of them being hungry this time of year. LOL. My DH has already started to think about fishing. For Christmas this year I bought him a t-shirt that says "I have 3 things to do today--FISH. FISH. FISH. That is so true for him, I have seen him go fishing 3 and 4 times a day.

VA, that potluck sounds so good. And the bead work project sounds interesting. Hope you had a good time.

Well, it has snowed here all day. Woke up, with rain changing to snow, then snow, and snow and snow. I just gave Mr. B his last outing for the night, and he came in wet, which probably means that it is still snowing. It started out with huge flakes, turning to medium flakes and by suppertime to small flakes. Now just the itty bitty kind. And still we don't have but about 3 inches on the ground. Wonder what tomorrow morning will bring?

Well, I am going to check out other forums, and then go to bed. I will need all the rest I can get to make it through the day tomorrow. Hope all sleep well, and awake refreshed and ready to tackle a new day.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone - snow back in the picture here = only 3 inches tho, so not bad. But the winds are howling and that will make for tricky driving today. I have a funeral at 2- glad they are having it early so I won't miss the SuperBowl (not that I really watch it tho...) Friends mother passed away - she was in her 90's, so lived a long life. The end was really rough and she (friend) was a wreck - family fighting etc. Stress brings out the worse in everyone...

CRS!!!! Oh, I love it!!! I"ll be sure and put that one to good use...

Oz - now I've heard everything--snow in a the boat. Must have been when you were young and all the brain cells weren't fireing!

VA- love potlucks (but eat way more than if I just had a regular meal!!) What a thoughtful thing - that bead project - I'm sure you'll keep it with fond memories. Things made by hand always touch my heart!

Darius- fun seeing bro after four years - hope the meal was out of this world too! My brother only lives a few miles from me, but we seldom see each other, but do IM often on the computer. Our lives are just not alike at all= he is into the party/glitz mode and I would rather sit at home!! He's still a great guy tho . We get together for a family dinner once a year, but don't see them again until the next year. In fact his son is home from the airforce for a visit and we won't even see him...oh well.

Defoe- good luck on the family gala!! Those gals probably loved getting some extra cashola!!

I'm hungry and need to go look in the frig to see what I can whip up...take care all and keep warm in this nasty weather@@

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Good Morning! Seeing my brother and SIL was great... but dinner wasn't. He made phone reservations at Outback, where they said 1-1/2 hours. So we sat around their hotel room and talked until time to go. When we got to the Outback, they said it would be yet another 1-1/2 hours and it was already 8:30!

We checked several more restaurants on the strip, and all had a long wait even at 9 pm. Ended up at Captain D's for fish & chips. NEVER make dinner plans for Saturday night (date night) in a town with 40,000 college students!

It's already warming up outside so maybe I can get some gardening done. Molly helped me yesterday get the last 2 big plants I brought planted. Large Oak Leaf Hydrangeas. Still have a few more small ones to plant but unsure of the right place.

Have a great day everyone!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning everyone. Not slave labor, dcat, just on the job training for future housecleaners. Make it fun and profitable and they will thank you for it more than once. You could also teach them to cook if their mothers aren't doing that. I remember helping teach a nutrition/cooking class to young married ladies quite a few years ago. Some of them could barely boil water and were already raising kids. And it's even worse today.

Darius, At least you had a nice visit with your brother. The only time I was ever at an Outback it was so crowded and noisy we couldn't hear ourselves think and it was almost impossible to get the attention of the waitress when we needed something. We were somebody's guests so couldn't do much about it, but I haven't ever been to another one.

My hubby came home last night instead of staying in a motel on his road trip. It made a very long couple of days with a lot of driving, but he just wanted to be home. He said the roads weren't too bad, lots of wind and small limbs across the highways in western WA and western Or, and a big headwind somewhere else. He called me when he was about 100 miles from home.

I need to look up liriope, and see if it is something that would survive here or take over. I have more than enough invasive stuff, mainly quackgrass and perennial weeds. One weed I refer to as the weed from way down below in that hot place, it's a mallow that is very agressive and deep rooted, makes hundreds of little bitty seeds and is the worst weed in the garden. It has that rust (virus ?? not sure), but of course there is no controlling it on my hollyhocks because it is everywhere. I have heard that there are hollyhocks that are resistant to rust and those are the ones I should be growing.

Today is our anniversary. Since it is Super Bowl day our son is coming out to watch the game. A tv is very low on their priority list with our DIL going to college and spending most of her waking hours studying. They haven't had tv in years anyhow, even before she started to school. Meanwhile, we will go out for breakfast, stop at the store and get some munchies and maybe I will get to ride a while today. Otherwise, no plans.

I hope you all have a great day.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Hey Mary = Happy Anniversary - how many years??

We've been to Outback only once too. Had to wait forever - ordered the bloomin onion and I was full and didn't want my meal. Onion was great tho. I remember I had the stuffed potatoes and salad. Enough for a family of 4. I find that so wasteful!! I would just a soon share a meal, but I think the waitresses think we are real cheapsakes then! DH always wants a steak and I don't really care for them that much. (plus he wants it all for himself LOL)

It's 11am and I just got out of the shower. I'm delaying getting dressed until I have to go to the funeral today. I am scared to put on my dress pants - they were tight the last time I wore them...I'll keep my coat on....I do have a new 3/4 length black coat that is still in my car trunk. Has been there for over a month - I need to get it out and see it I can dewrinkle it enough to wear it!!

I have a liriope and am not impressed with it. It has spread, but not aggressively. I am disappointed in it in that the flower stalks are so low you don't even see them..they are hidden among the foliage. I do like the variagated ones tho. Mine is plain green.

I can't imagine not having a tv- I am addicted to the news...I never miss it. Plus we enjoy the history and garden channels....must be my age!!

Gotta go get out the coat...

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Defoe-- A lot of people do not know that fish bite real well at times during the winter. In highland type lakes. As a matter of fact they are nowhere near the bottom. I caught 2 -17 inch Kentucky spotted bass about a week ago in water on the edge of a channel bank. They were right on the bank in about 3 ft deep. I always catch most of my largest bass and cappie during the winter. I have just gotten to old to brave that stuff anymore. My hands turn to ice even with gloves on. And to go blasting up the lake at 60 to 70 mph I think might just freeze me me to death. Of course I do not have a boat like that anymore. Those days are over also.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Wow, you all have been so busy while I have still been snoozing away on my new mattress. DS said that he had the best sleep he has ever had last night on his too. They are Serta mattresses.

Well its a beautiful day outside, DH and sons have gone golfing this morning and then DH and oldest are going to a Superbowl Party. I get to relax and get a couple gardens cleaned out. Its so weird to still have most of my plants that usually die off in the winter still going strong and a couple with blooms on them. Wacky weather. I wouldn't be to surprised if we got into the 60's for highs this July. Happened a few years back and everyone here thought the world was ending.

Darius glad you enjoyed spending time with your brother and SIL. We had an Outback close to my old work and we would go there for lunch on a regular basis. Food was good but very crowded. Luckily the staff knew us and that we were on a tight schedule and would get us in quickly. I have only eaten dinner there a couple times and it was louder and less personal then I prefer for dinner. Las Vegas is full of wonderful places to eat. I am going to miss that. I did find a McCormick and Schmick's in Charlotte though.

Mary what anniversary is this? I wish I could go on that horse ride with you, sounds more fun then watching a group of men beating the heck out of each other over a stuffed pigskin for millions of dollars.

Have a wonderful Sunday all

Casey

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Hi all
I'm breathing enough today to get to church -don't think I'm contagious at this point. It was nice when I went in,by the time we got out it's dark, threatening, and cold wind blowing. I was going to play with the baby horse and/or ride, but now I don't know it I'll get ready before the "wintry mix" begins. Maybe I should stay in and clean.

Darius, glad to hear you had a nice visit despite the restaurant debacle. I hate those big chain restaurants, way too busy and noisy for me.

Casey~Happy napping!! I love getting a new mattress.

Oz~ you're a better man than me LOL I will only boat when it's 76 degrees and not too sunny, and even then i don't fish. That raw wind sounds painful!

sarv~I think we'll be getting your weather today.Watch out on those roads!

dcat~sounds like the cleaning job was a win/win situation! Once they hit the teens the prices go way up and the quality of the job goes way down! Can't believe you were having snow too? Yuck already! Hope you have a great family get together, and now i'm hungry for stroganoff!

VA~ the real potluck sounds like fun. The beadwork sounds like a lovely memento, and a gift from the heart.

I'm not watching the superbowl, so I can either play horse games or clean....hmmmm, which shall it be?Will check in later with the results!!
Have a great day!!

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi All,

dcat,
Not slave labor when you pay them,,,lol,,,,I just consider it part of helping out!!!! They're lucky to have gotten paid. But, payment is incentive for kids that age,,,so it's all good,,,lol

My Liriope Didn't Do Anything for the past 2 years,,,,struggling both years,,,, ;o{

sarv,
Funerals,,,,Yuk,,,hate going to them,,,although I don't think anyone likes to,,,always so sad.

darius,
ooooo, what a terrible time you had with dinner. Glad you had a nice time with your DB and SIL. Hope you enjoy your day outside.

Mary,
Happy Anniversary!

oz,
Remember the little song I taught you,,,,they'll come right up to you,,,,lol

Casey,
Oh how wonderful to be able to get outside,,,,,have fun!!!!!

dmc,
Glad to hear your breathing better,,,hope you are on the mend! Oh, the baby horsey sounds fun. But, I would stay in if I were you,,,no sense in having it get worse or hang on longer.

Well, Bill went off with some friends snowmobiling today,,,so I have the house to myself,,,gonna get some cleaning done and sit and do some bookwork,,,,Yuk to both!!! But, I Have to get it done,,,,if I would just do it month by month all year long it would be a sinch,,,but now, I have to start from Jan. '05 going through receipts,,,well, maybe one of these years I'll learn my lesson.

Have a good day all.

Hi all,

I've been keeping up with reading but have been too tired by the time I could have posted. Of course, as a charter member of the CRS club, not much of the information has stayed with me. I do remember that Babs had a birthday ---- so happy belated birthday, Babs, where-ever you are! Happy anniversary to Mary too!

It's a day off --- so I'm being terribly slug-like so far today. Must get going though, plenty to do, as usual. I actually see a couple of sunbeams out there now, but the sump pumps in the cellar are playing their tune and it looks pretty swamplike down there right now.

DH is down with a rotten cold/flu and I can hardly wait for my turn (not!) I've taken extra vitamin C, but don't really expect to escape the bug.

Good luck with the party, d'cat.

VAnn, your party sounded nice and the beaded logo must have been a very special surprise for you. The Winter Festival sounds good. I believe my mother made it to the one in Quebec a few years ago.

She loves to travel, but refuses to go alone, even on those package tours with people of her own age. Since she can't seem to find anyone she knows who wants to go, she's effectively grounded herself. Too bad, as we could both really use a vacation from each other once in a while. We had a big blow-up last week and she's going to visit one of my brothers for a week starting next Sunday. Phew!

Enough for now, I really have to get my butt in gear. No slight intended towards anyone I didn't mention by name. I'm still thinking of all of you!

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

KELLY I remember the song. But I do not need it. All I need right now is a thing called a Suspending Rouge.

As soon as my eyes recover a little i am going ot go out and start drilling pilot holes. Have any of you ever played that marble game where you throw dice and move six marbles around a board and the first one to get all the marbles home wins. There are two types of boards. One for 4 players and one for 6. Both games are popular around here. Well the lady of the house wants a board and she does not want 2 boards. She wants one you can flip and have one game on one side and one on the other. They do not sell such a thing. Not that she would want a store bought one anyway. So guess who is going to the double side job???. The angles have to be perfect are the whole thing will come out messed up. I just finished drawing out the six side one and will drill all the tiny pilot holes for the large bit this afternoon. I would rather build a garage than something like this. Beside the oak for the center and the birch for the boards is not cheap.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

oz,

Sounds like a major project getting those angles just right. It'll warm up quick enough to get out fishing. Just remember that song for then, LOL

I'm in trouble now! Just finished looking up the hostas (those that I could find) on the "New" list for Budd gardens - my local hosta nursery.

I have 2 on a "I have to have it NOW" list and another 21 on the wish list. 5 more on the "Someday" list and 15 on the "Maybe" list.

And I haven't finished looking at the list for another nearby nursery at which some of us are considering pooling our order to get a discount. Uh oh!

Ann

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Good afternoon all!!!

Thank you everyone for the very kind birthday wishes yesterday. I'm sorry I wasn't able to connect and read them until this morning. We had an awful Nor'Wester blow through here and have been out of power until late last night.

This is actually the first time in many days, I think more than a week that I've had the ability to even get online. I've been working (and yes, I worked y'day) and am working today because we will probably have plenty of folks come in from their Super Bowl home parties. It started already last night with three men who got into an altercation because one fella said the Seahawks were going to win and the other two pounded the crud out of him. Between too much ETOH (ethanol alcohol) and food poisonings (there's always one or two every holiday) I'm sure we'll be quite busy once the game is over. We usually get our contingent of lacerations (my opinion is once again, too much ETOH and use of kitchen knives for slicing food just don't mix). LOL We had a really nasty one of those last night. Took 27 sutures to close and I told the patient, they were CUT OFF from kitchen and knife duty until they could attend a class in the safe use of a butcher knife sans alcohol! Some of the other injuries we saw over this weekend were several hands crushed from people getting their hands slammed in their car doors because of the high winds. I just about cried when I saw one poor woman's hand, she has terrible arthritis in her hands and one was caught in a car door. It was pure carnage. I felt so bad for her. I slipped an IV into her post haste and begged the doc for some morphine for her and he was very obliging once he saw her hand. Poor woman was in surgery as I left last night.

I'm sorry I've missed so much lately there's no way I can possibly catch up, so I'll try again to get back into the swing of things here as I can. My hubby spent the day and night with my Mum taking care of her through this storm. I had to work and he was over at her home keeping the generator going so her furnace would heat the house as well as keep a few lights on. She's mostly blind these days, but can see dark and light and knows her way about her home. My sister wanted Mum to come stay with her, but DS's home had no water (pump was out with the power outage) and Mum is much more comfy in her own surroundings. So, wonderful DH just stayed with her and cared for her as I would have. God bless that man, I don't know what I'd ever do without him. He's over at one of our ER doc's homes right now enjoying the Pregame for the Super Bowl and gnawing on some chicken wings and bleu cheese dressing and I'm sure, enjoying a sip or two of bourbon and coke. This doc is quite the football fan and went out and bought a 52" HD TV just for this whole thing. So, what the heck, I'm sure it's a testosterone party at the house and I'm glad I have to go to work! LOL

Well, kiddies, it's time for me to hit the shower and get ready for my shift. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe day and enjoys the Super Bowl if that is what you are into. Please take care all and know I think of you and DG every day, even if I'm not here. Oh, and PS, if anyone cares, my next door neighbour is still with us, though barely. I have Home Health set up for him now and I'm getting more of a break with his care. I've weaned his wife away from needing me so much and have convinced her to trust the HH nurses and let them help her through this very trying time. I still check up on them each day, but more with a phone call and only a day here and there do I go over. I just couldn't keep up the pace between work, caring for my Mum, and taking care of the neighbour. I was neglecting my own DH and that's not fair to him.

TTFN! and Goooooo! SEAHAWKS!!!!!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello again. Babs, it's so good to hear from you again. Let us know how that poor lady is who smashed her hand. Car doors and wind are not a good combination. Thanks for the update on your neighbor and your mother. You do have a good husband to go be with her so she could stay in her own home and familiar surroundings. I heard that ferry service between Seattle and Bremerton was suspended during the storm and I emagine it effected some of the other boats on the system as well. Ferries and floating bridges don't so too well when the wind gets really strong. Half of the Hood Canal floating bridge sank in 1997 during a really big storm. We lived a few miles from that.

Does anybody know how to make a bloomin onion? I remember seeing one somewhere and I think I had a taste of it, but had forgotten about them.

Oz, I can tell what game you are making a board for? There are a few that use marbles and dice, but I can't think of one with 6 marbles, but then I don't do many games since my hubby isn't much of a game person. I used to play some games with our kids when they were little and we still have a box of games stored in the basement, but nobody to play them with. We keep them for when we have company with kids that need to be entertained.

It's a beautiful day here, not much wind, sun is out and I have the greenhouse vents open. The horses are all lying down taking naps in the sun, but soon I will be putting Patch to work for an hour or so. He is fun to ride, and really likes going somewhere. Breezy, on the other hand, has seen everything around here so many times that he is bored with it all, but when I get him to an endurance ride he becomes another horse who just wants to go fast. I'll be starting Breezy's 10th endurance season this year and Patch's 2nd one.

Oh yes, somebody asked how many years, 46. It's hard to believe , especially since I don't feel any older than that. We will probably go out to dinner some other evening soon as it will be pretty late by the time the big game is over today. That's ok, we used to have to save up for weeks to afford to go out for dinner, so next week is really pretty quick and I don't get upset having to wait a few days or a week. It's good to be flexable.

See you later. The balmy temperature (40) and sunshine won't last forever. Maybe I won't get cold today!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Babs - good to hear from you. Sounds like a hard working b-day. Hope you have a bit of time off to relax somewhere. Sounds like you really had some wild weather out there.

MaryE. - how far are you from Hood River? We were out there on the labour Day weekend for the marriage of my niece to a young man from Hood River. Niece's family is in Alaska, niece is in Montana and they help the wedding near Hood River so groom's grandparents to easily get to it.

Ann

Back from the funeral - had a good time seeing people I haven't seen in years. But got ready to leave the church and my keys were no where to be found!! Searched the purse several times, went upstairs in the church in my hands and knees, then down to the eating area and looked, out to the car and searched my purse again. Just as I was getting out of the car to call DH, I looked down and there they were between the door and the seat - now how they got there I'll never know! The friends that were riding with me laughed and laughed, and then told me I wouldn't be driving them again!! That's ok, I'd rather ride with them!! (and then my car wouldn't start....we laughed like crazy at that one!)

I got home and put on my sweats and warm socks and I'm ready to snuggle in. Wonder if DH would consider getting a pizza tonight??? hmmm, I'll have to run that buy him later!!

I saw Emeril make the blooming onion once - seems like I remember him slicing down like you do an apple, then dip it in breading and deep fry it. Too much work for me to do - I'll just go buy one!!

Babs- good luck on working tonight - hope you don't have to stitch up too many crazies. And how nice of DH to go stay with your mom. I'm still working on DH getting us a generator. He will put it off until we lose our power, then race out and pay big bucks....I know him well! LOL

Man, it is so cold here and continues to be extremely windy. Roads were icing over on the way home. We're in for some cold weather upcoming this next week. brrrr

I don't care who wins today, just hope it's an exciting game

You are in BIG Trouble,,,,but like a true hosta-holic,,,,you have your lists,,,,LOL

Just dropping bye to say hello, everything is fine here, finally stopped raining and it is getting colder that I think is muchmore like what it suppose to be atound here.

McCool, how old is your mother, hope you don't mind me asking you?

Happy anneversary, MaryE, enjoy the day no matter what you do!

Babs, also best wishes for your birthday as belated as it is, your husband sounds like one of a kind, though mine was just like it, lucky are we not? In my case I was to have had him for 58 years.

Though I read every post but saying Hi to everyone else I did not personaly mention.

Do want to add since the Patriots are not in this game I am cheering for the Seahawks.

Hi everyone
Had a very busy day today. I'm another who doesn't care anything about the game and neither does the DH. Guess I'm just lucky that way. LOL He'll watch just enough so he can carry on an intelligent conversation but doesn't have to be glued to it. Thank heavens!

Went to the Bday party for my little 6 year old friend. I know why God decided not to bless me with children. LOL Would probably be in jail ... if I'd had had them. I needed a nerve pill when I got home, but didn't have any, so settled for a cup of coffee. Sorry if I've offended anyone. We've just been a couple too long. I really think they need to send kids to Leader Dog School. ;)

Happy anniversary Ann. that's a long time, but they do go by in a hurry. Can't believe I'm working on 32.

Babs, glad to hear from you. That's *really* terrible about that poor lady. I bet you really see some aweful things. My niece is starting her clinicals next week and will graduate next quarter. We're so proud of her. My SIL is a nurse also.

OZ, we played a marbel game when I was growing up where everyone picked a particular color. Each person had 4 marbels, and there were 4 players. My DD made the board. You threw the dice against the side of the board as it had sides. I'm not sure if I'm describing it so you can understand what I'm talking about. LOL

Well, it's time to go to the kitchen. Hi to those I haven't mentioned by name.

DH has taken over the living room, to watch the Stupid Bowl with his buddy. I was on his computer for a while but I hate it, so now I'm out here at mine, with the game in my ear and a plate of nachos which I hope doesn't dribble on the keyboard.

Dcat, a clean house for $20, sounds like a good deal to me! Send them over here!!

Darius, Outback is always crowded here, but now you can order and pick up, so if I'm ever going to have a blooming onion again, that will be how I get it. I have no patience for waiting like that for a meal.

Sarv, I have a recipe for making one, but I'm not sure you want it. Requires a very large onion, like a bermuda or one of the sweet types. You can slice it by resting it on two wooden spoon handles, that way the knife doesn't go all the way through. Then you have to soak it in ice water, to make it "bloom", chilling makes it spread out. If you have a big deep fryer, and you want the batter recipe I can dmail it to you, but I wasn't impressed with the results. Restaurants have hotter fryers, mine didn't get hot enough I think as it absorbed a lot of the grease. It has to cook fast. Another restaurant here has them, so if I feel the need, I can go there!

A belated Happy Birthday to Babs, and Happy Anniversary to MaryE, sorry I didn't get here earlier. Babs, good to see you back. You've been working way too hard lately!

VAnn, the beadwork present will be a treasure...a labor of love. Nice to have something that has some meaning. You made a graceful exit.

Hello to everyone else, I have to get out of here and find a quieter room! And, yes I suspect Mini likes the attention Sammi gives her, she's always been needy for loveys and brushing, so I guess being jumped on and chased is better than being ignored. Not that we are ignoring her, I've been trying to give her and Souky both extra attention. Just so you all can get your Sammi fix here's a shot of him sitting on Mike's buddy. Of course, he is allergic! How did Sammi know that???

Elaine my older DD, the one with the Golden Retrievers, has said that if she had learned to train dogs before she had kids, she would have had better kids. Not that her kids aren't good guys now , but they spent their first 15 years together fighting, daily if not several times a day. They were always well behaved for me because they knew I wouldn't tolerate it.

Is that the marble board game with the star shaped pattern? Chinese checkers keeps popping into my head.

Yep Darius and I went to town today looking for trees and more ornamental grasses. We found this absolutely horrible nursery. The wagon we got to carry plants on was a red rider. Way Way too small. We had to get a second wagon. We left with my car jam packed with plants of all sorts. I will never go back there again.........at least not this week.

We managed to get all but 1 plant in the ground between bites of dinner and darkness. I wouldn't place bets on it, since it was in darkness when we finished, but I think it might look good.

Now for some wind down and computer time. I only watch superbowl when I want to impress a guy.....HAHAHA!!!!!!

Dogs had me up a 5 this morning then again at 7. I need a full nights sleep. They have had some accidents in the house since we moved and I am trying to sleep a bit lighter to hear their needs, but I thinking they are taking advantage of me now. They are probably laughing at me all the while, I know my parrot thinks it's pretty funny.

Hi Maria

M5,
Sammi looks so comfy!!!! Yes, how is it they always know who doesn't want them around or who is allergic????? My Mom isn't particularly fond of Mooshka,,,she likes her when she's laying down,,,lol Well, Mooshka some how senses this and thinks somehow if she could just make Nana like her,,,so, she is by my Mom a lot,,,,especially sniffing her rear,,,my Mom runs around saying "Get out of my butt" to which I think is Hysterically funny,,,which makes my Mom even more mad,,,,,Then I tell Mooshka,,,go lay down, Nana really doesn't like you,,,

Elaine,
I hear ya,,,,,I Thank God that He didn't feel the need to bless me in that way,,,I'd be in jail for child abuse,,,I'm sure of it,,lol,,,Don't get me wrong, I like kids and enjoy spending time with them for about 1/2 an hour to an hour,,,then they can go back to there parents.

Just got a phone call from one of our friends Justin,,,,,Bill's sled broke down and Justin went to haul him home,,,,grrrrr It's a town about 60? miles from us,,,I'm gonna torch those dumb things!!!!!!

Gotta go,
Kelly

Babs, not sure if I said Happy Birthday yesterday, so if not Happy belated. Good to hear from you. My heart goes out to the lady with her hand. When I was young the neighbor lady slammed her hand in the door and she ended up losing 2 fingers and the use of the hand. It broke every bone in the hand.

Molly, I bet all those plants are going to look marvelous as the rest of the yard does. We have a large nursery here that has three different sized carts. DH just laughs when I pass up the first ones and head straight to the biggest one even when I tell him I am only getting a certain plant. LOL He knows me all to well.

Meezer, thanks for the Sammi fix.

IO1, If I had know what my beautiful little babies were going to turn into when they turned 8 I would never have had children and stuck with fish.

arrrgggg, forgot to go get milk and bread. Darn, I will check back in later. Hope all had a wonderful day today. If I forgot to mention you its only because I have CRS also.

Those last few posts were funny lol.

Elaine,
I know just what you are talking about, I was ready to farm mine out after theach got to be more then two years old and by the time they got to be teenagers I was hoping they run away, lol, of course you know I am just kidding because evetually they all turned out to be super adults and very good parents, saying thank you , Mom, you taught us. I did not say , that was because everyone of you got quite a few whacks on your backside if you did not behave, thought they might no appreciate being reminded, lol

GG, that is how I felt when my grandchildren visited, was always glad when they went home to their parents, never baby sat much for them, figurered I did my duty with my own four. Now evryone of them is grown up and I enjoy their visits. About your mother, that really made me laugh, Samson sometimes does the same thing, you can imagine what I think and yell at him, nosy Samson, lol

Okay went to the store for bread and milk and spent over a 100 bucks. How the heck did that happen??? Did get some nice cut flowers for the house though. I try to keep a few frog vases with cut flowers in them throughout the house to help with the depression. I cant wait till I have my own field of flowers to cut for the house.

Okay, I think I am going to go take a bubble bath, grab a glass of wine and read a book until DH gets home from his SB party..

Nite all. I hope tomorrow brings all that you wish for.

Figured I better post something since I haven't lately. I have been reading it all though.

Yesterday, I didn't accomplish anything but we did go out to eat again and to the movie. We saw Munich, it was very long and very violent but since it was a true story, I knew it would be.

Today, was another wasted day. Kept going to sleep in the recliner. Hoping Monday I can get busy again and get things done. My house looks like a pile of junk, stuff all over. DH is not a picker upper and I am a throw stuff all over person. BUT I do eventually pick my stuff up, at least he doesn't mess things up, so I guess he thinks he shouldn't pick it up. LOL

He is still the primary furbaby feeder and dishwasher. We had frozen pizzas tonight during the superbowl, I ate mine at the kitchen table, and he ate his in front of the TV.

Didn't like the way the game turned out. OH well, some people did, I'm sure.

Mary congratulations on the 46!! Ours will be 26 in March.

Well, since I didn't do anything for the last two days, I don't have anything to tell about.

Hope everyone has a great week coming up.

Susan

Benn a chatty bunch again today. Not fair, when one is "otherwise" occupied.

Sarv I can't believe that you didn't know CRS, I even had a coffee mug with that on it, has been in this area for ages. And Keeping a coat in the trunk of the car. I just sneak it into the house, in the back of the closet, and when DH says "is that new?" I say," no have had it awhile".

Darius, yuk on Captain D's, but glad you got to visit with SIL and DB. Never actually eaten at an Outback, as the wait was always more time than I wanted to spend.

Mary, I loved your "training for future housecleaners". I told DGD that she and friend should start a cleaning business. I am teaching DGD to cook, even have started a recipe book for her of my own recipes. Happy 46th anniversary. Time does fly doesn't it?

Ozarkian, just showed your post to DH. He is already "itching" to get out and try them. He has a lake that he can be at and in the water in 15 minutes, so I look to see the rear of the boat pulling out of the drive any day now. Good luck on the board.

Carat, ain't new mattresses great? Got one last year, and thought I had died the first night we slept on it.

dmc, Hope it is allergies, not a cold, and I vote for the horse vs cleaning.

GG ((( ))) to you, free time and have to do book work. YUK!!

Mccool, Sorry about the blowup with DM. Maybe a trip elsewhere will do both of you good.

VA, Oh, I feel for you. Hosta's for you, something else for others. Anyhow you look at it it spelled ADDICTION!!

Babs, you are an angel, and married to the male variety. DH going to stay with DM, and keep the generator going, how sweet. And you seeing all those injuries, how in the world do you stand it? Knowing that you are going home to normal? Sorry about neighbor. Hope that HH nurses can reassure the wife. I really thank god for people like you.

101, I am one of those who should have never had children!! I am basically a perfectionist and that and children DO NOT GO TOGETHER!!. Maybe someday there will be a "Rent a Child". Then when you have had enough, you can take them back. I am not sorry that I have the DS, but it has been quite the experience. The first child was the most effective birth control I ever encountered!! LOL. Maybe it would have been different, if he had been a normal child, but back then he was termed hyperactive. Which means he bounced off walls. And no, there were no medicine available to control it.

Meezer, sorry DGD left this afternoon. When she is in the mood to clean, she does real well. If she were here, I would package her and send her to you. She is a sweetie. How do cats know when people don't like cats, or are allergic? It never fails, when company comes that do not like cats, Miss B, is all over them. Today, she never showed her whiskers, too many people, I think.

Molly, animals have all kinds of ways to get your attention. Maybe they are stressed about the move?

Well, had a very enjoyable day. The meal was good, DS, made chicken and dumplings, I made the green beans, corn pudding, dressed eggs, a banana salad, other DS brought a 7 layer salad, had birthday cake (of course) and rolls and tea. Was very nice. All siblings were here, and after lunch we played Shanghai rummy. We always have a good time, when we are together. Just can't spend too much time with older DB and DS, as we have plenty of differences.

Well, I have a busy schedule for this week. Have a dentist appointment tomorrow, and an appointment as Power of Attorney for DM on Tuesday. A birthday celebration on Thursday and an invitation to a neighbor's for dinner on Saturday. That is in addition to the regular day to day stuff, plus grocery shopping.

I am a mystery shopper for 2 different companies, and have a dinner date on Sunday evening of next week. Going to a Smokey Bones. Serve real good barbecue.

Well, I am off to bed. This was a pleasant day, but a tiring one.

Have about 3 inches of snow on the ground and is considerably colder. Just saw on the news that Alabama and Georgia may get some snow tomorrow. 101, do you need to borrow cold weather clothes? Just let me know.

Well good night all, sleep well, and sweet dreams.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Hi Susan, don't worry about the clutter. I know when it gets so deep, feel that you have to shovel it out. Take it easy, and don't overdo it.

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Susan If you would not be sipping the rum you would not fall asleep in the recliner. While it is good for pain it might be addictive.

Defoe I am lucky that way. My whole life I had wanted to retire on the water. Lake of the Ozarks is about 40 ft from the house and My boat is sitting there on a lift in my dock. I could jump in the boat and go close to 100 miles before I had to stop at Truman Dam. So I get to go fishing just about every day if I can affird the fuel and can stand the weather.

I got the board done as far as lined up and pilot holes drilled. BUT you cannot buy a real good piece of 1/4 verneer playwood anymore. They leave small holes between the plys and if you hit one will a dill bit it will tear the hole a little bit. I hit one so far. Told wife if I hit another I am going to burn the da-- thing.
