My daughter is a senior, and they each have to pick a senior song.
Well, she's picked,
"Someday Never Comes" from the creedence clearwater revival CD.
I am currently looking for the lyrics to this song. I have the cd. and can copy the words, but part of the chorus I can't understand LOL
Can anybody help?

Ccr - Someday Never Comes Lyrics
First thing I remember was asking papa why
For there were many things I didn't know.
And daddy always smiled and took me by the hand
Saying someday you'll understand.
(chorus:)
Well I'm here to tell you now each and every mother's son
That you better learn it fast you better learn it young
'Cause someday never comes.
Well time and tears went by and I collected dust.
For there were many things I didn't know.
When daddy went away, he said, try to be a man,
And someday you'll understand.
Well, I'm here...
And then one day in April, I wasn't even there,
For there were many things I didn't know.
A son was born to me. Mama held his hand,
sayin' someday you'll understand.
Well, I'm here...
Think it was September, the year I went away,
For there were many things I didn't know.
And still I see him standing tryin' to be a man,
I said, someday you'll understand.
Well, I'm here to tell you now, each and every mother's son,
That you better learn it fast, you better learn it young,
'Cause someday never comes.
You just gotta love CCR!!!

Just out of curiosity where did you find the lyrics at Haigr?
Haigr beat me to the lyrics, but I can tell you how to find any lyrics...just Google the band/songwriter, name of the song, and 'lyrics'...you'll get dozens of hits. You can also insert 'chords' or 'tab' instead of "lyrics" and get how to play it...but don't put much faith in a lot of the chord/tab sites....most of them are user submitted and are almost always incorrect. Makes my DH very annoyed that folks will submit a song incorrectly.
(he teaches guitar, by the way)
Thanks Melody
Google, he's got all the info. Just type in the song title and CCr goes right to the lyrics.
Steve and I wrote a retirement song for a close friend, we used the music to Garth Brooks, Friends in low places. We needed to see how the lyrics ran so we could write poetry, lyrics for his personal circumstances. We actually had a friend record our song and put it to a DVD with photos of his accomplishments for the past 20 years, it was the hit of the retirement party.
Haighr,
No offense meant, but about this:
"First thing I remember was asking papa why
For there were many things I didn't know.
And daddy always smiled and took me by the hand
Saying someday you'll understand."
If papa had read his Bible and taught it to his son, the son wouldn't have had all those troubles. It's all in the Bible. Everything one needs to know.
And about this:
"Well, I'm here to tell you now, each and every mother's son,
That you better learn it fast, you better learn it young,
'Cause someday never comes."
Those who get their learning from the young are in REAL trouble, because if there is one thing young folk generally have a real dirth of, it is learning and wisdom.
Yes, Creedence Clearwater was quite a band. I had the privilege of being in a front row seat and seeing and hearing them perform at the Filmore East in New York City back in the 70's, I believe it was. They put on quite a show!
But one of the reasons this country is in some real trouble is because too many people suppose rock and roll lyrics have some kind of wonderful deep meaning.
How about this one:
"Gimme the beat boys, to soothe my soul,
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n roll
And drift away!"
I don't know about you, but I find being lost and drifting a very nasty experience! :+))
Most any time I take a real listen to and examine what is being said in rock 'n roll lyrics, I shake my head because they either make no sense or they give very bad advice.
We had a native of Peoria Illinois die not long ago. Last year, I think it was. The obituary said one of the reasons they thought the guy died was because he "got into a bad life-style because his life actually began to imitate the kinds of things he was singing about in his songs." (!!!) And I'm thinking, "Wow! What about all his fans? I wonder how their lives are going?!"
Oh, I almost forgot. LOL! ~ Someday DOES come for those who know how to wait. But Fogerty had his finger on the pulse of a generation that is one of THE most IMpatient generations of all time. No wonder we are, because we grew up on TV and movies, in which we saw 5 generations live and die in the space of an hour or two! Everything is going faster and faster and faster for us---faster computers, microwave ovens, supersonic travel, etc, etc. "Someday" just doesn't have a chance anymore!
But for those who know how to wait for it, who train themselves and their children to wait for it, someday still has much value. Interesting movie about patience and what really matters: "Harvest of Fire" with Pattie Duke
The above is all just my opinion. Others' opinions may differ, and that is okay.
Best to all and respect to all,
persevere1

Just helping with the lyrics, I didn't write the song.
I've had my fun day, was backstage with Tina Turner, 1999 opening of Bruce Springsteen's world tour in Barcelona, a bar in Florida with Franki Vally, seen the Stones a few times along with Barry Manilow, Cher and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Probably shouldn't age myself with Rod Stewart, the Animals and Wayne Newton. June and Johnny Cash at the MD Theatre. Not to mention Elton John and Bob Dylan. Sure I am forgetting a few.
If I lived by all the lyrics, I'd be so confused now, I couldn't write this song! LOL
Thanks, haighr!
The very deepest, most meaningful lyrics of any rock 'n roll song EVER recorded are:
"Whop Bappa Loopa Pah Wop Bam Boom!" (Little Richard)
Little Richard is supposed to be one of THE ones who inspired Bob Dylan. And of course Bob Dylan has writ many songs which, if you sit yourself down and read them, you must ask yourself, "WHOT IN THE????!!!"
I saw Bob Dylan in person oncet, when I was in my twunnies, I guess. I started walking down the aisle toward the stage to try to get close to this person from whom so much engerny emanated, and who had influenced so many, but I got stopped by a security guard before I could get very close at all.
Makes sense. They is some real loonies out there who think they'd like to knock off a rock star so as to get their two months of publicity. What a shame.
Hey, I used to live in Olney, Maryland. As a matter of fact, I consider myself to be a Maryland boy, having lived there from about 0 to 16. Moved to NJ after that with the family. Didn't like it there, so I always say I am originally a MD boy. Moved to Illinois in '99. I like it fine here. Just hope it don't git too built up. If it do, I might up and move to Kansas or Missouri!
