Morning All
Here's the daily con't from
http://davesgarden.com/place/t/573233/

Have a good day,
Kelly

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

It's officially morning, somewhere. Not here, it's bedtime here, my eyelids are getting heavy. I just popped in to answer a ? since I probably won't remember it in the morning. Somebody asked about waterproofing my shoes, yes, similiar to bear grease, this has beeswax and a couple other things in it. Hubby always does the treatment to a bunch of shoes and boots whenever I need to have mine done since he has the goop on his hands. The trick is to have the leather warm, apply the goop and keep them warm for a few hours to let it soak in really well. The shoes will be worn out before it would need to be done again, but I admit I am very rough on shoes.

I don't do trades or seeds with non subscribers and I don't have my addy or info in the address exchange, there are just way too many people for me to feel comfortable with that.

See you in the morning, it's too much trouble trying to think. Early to bed, early to rise......

Well, I decided to just come on over here and post since it's *really* Friday now. LOL

It's finally stopped raining here but has poured all day long.

Defoe, thanks so much for the complimentabout my supper. Thought I'd post the recipe and a picture of the shrimp dish. I get most of my recipes off the internet. If I want something ... just do a google search and can find it. LOL

TGIF Sizzling Shrimp

2 medium red potatoes
2 teaspoons light olive oil
2 pinches salt
2 pinches ground black pepper
2 pinches minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon light olive oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1/2 yellow onion, sliced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning (herb blend)
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes
24 to 28 medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 cloves garlic, minced (2 tablespoons)
1 tablespoon lime juice
Garnish
1/2 cup crumbled ranchero cheese
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Make sure your oven has two racks so that you have room to heat up the serving skillet. Place a large cast iron skillet
or an oven-safe skillet (that does not have plastic handles) on the lower rack of the oven. This is the pan that will make the shrimp sizzling hot. Slice
each of the potatoes lengthwise into 8 wedges. Toss the potatoes in a bowl with 2 teaspoons olive oil, plus a couple pinches each of salt, ground black
pepper and minced parsley. Arrange the potato wedges in a non-stick baking pan (or in a pan lined with parchment paper), and bake for 25-30 minutes or
until potatoes turn golden brown. When the potatoes are done, take them out and turn off the oven. Keep the empty skillet in there on the lower rack. We'll
use that at the end.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the red and green bell peppers, and onion. Stir in the cumin,
3/4 teaspoon salt, 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, Italian seasoning, and cayenne pepper. Sauté the vegetables for 8 minutes, stirring often.
3. When peppers and onions have sautéed for 8 minutes, add the can of diced tomatoes, including the liquid to the skillet. Add the shrimp, garlic and lime
juice. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring often.
Remove the hot skillet from the oven. Pour the entire contents of the dish into the hot skillet, then arrange the potato
wedges around the edge of the dish. Quickly sprinkle ranchero cheese over the center of the dish, followed by about a tablespoon of minced fresh parsley.
Serve it up immediately -- while it's still sizzling! (

Makes 2 servings.

YUM IO1 = any lefttovers!! I'm hungry for breakfast and I'll finish off what's left!!

Well, our drains are plugged up!! Yesterday when I was taking a shower, I had water up around my ankles...but it eventually went down. This morning DH got in the shower and the water didn't go down at all!! He took a mighty quick shower!! Drat, and I didn't do dishes yesterday and have a major load of them now and laundry to do to boot! He told me to go to the grocery store and get some RidX - now I don't think that will do a darn thing....that's for the septic system...I'm not going to touch it....Every few years he has to dig up the opening to the septic and run an augar back to the house...and it always happens when the weather is the coldest!!

Yikes, I just heard about the big ship that sunk....1,400 on board too. Gotta go listen to the news.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Good morning,

It's still dark out and raining from last night. There was a tornado watch on last night until 10. A lot of heavy rain and thunder. I think it weirded my yard light sensor again. That light came on in the middle of the night and hasn't gone off since. Shines right in my bedroom window. So not a very good night.

We were sposed to go to that festival today, but with the rain, it may be cancelled. That kinda cancels out any gardening too. Maybe I should go back to bed.

Molly

cambridge md, MD(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone on this gorgeous rainy ,windy day LOL. Sarv48 I can sympatise with you we had a sewer back up couple months ago and everything that can go wrong in a house went wrong in one day.
let me tell you about this fine day in September, this might cheer you up. It all started when the roofers came to replace the roof on the den , we knew that the roof had to be replaced but we didnd know how bad it was until the roofer went thru the roof and landed in the entrance of the house on a love seat , at least it was soft and we all got a good laugh except now we also had to replace the ceiling .. later in the afternoon I was finishing to do the laundry when all of a sudden I realise the water was rising from the floor called the husband who told me to call roto rooter after several hours of work in the basement and several hundred of $$$$$ the problem was fixed. That day my husband was off work so he took advantage to go play tennis and came home in pain, he had pulled his back....he ended up out of commission for a week , thank God he is easy to live with.... . All this in one day meanwhile I was dealing with a kitchen that was being remodeled and was in various stages of destruction by me. meaning that in order to do the dishes I had to go in the basement , by the evening it had finaly dried out... all this happening in one day I should be covered now for the next year or so ....you think.....the kitchen was finished in October. I didnt need the treadmill I was doing enought trips up and down the stairs to burn few calories...I am turning on to the news thanks for letting people know. have a nice day.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Orch - ouch - you made my day!! LOL How can all that happen in one day. My DH will be able to fix the plug I think - it is just such a pain to dig up the septic cover and roto root- Plus, my kidneys know I can't use the facilities and they are complaining!! Off to the huff/puff early so I can use the throne!! Then onto the library where I'll use it there too!!

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Orchidfancy that sounds like some of the frustration i had a year are so ago when I gutted a lot of this place. we were washing dishes in the bathtub and eating out of a microwave on top of the washmachine from day after christmas until 3rd week of march. Not our fault. I waited 6 weeks for delivery of flooring from Pergo. when it cam I went in to start laying it opened the first box and it was way the wrong thing. Pergo like I said on another thread is a half a--- outfit for a variety of reasons. I reordered quick step and had it in 5 days.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Oh Crap!! Had a long post all written and it went Poooooff! Now I have to start over with a severe case of CRS. Sigh.

Maria, pet stores have special frisbees for dogs made out of canvas, with a hard rubber ring around the outside. DD has them for her dogs. She doesn't like the plastic ones either. You did well at the dentist, I want to either be novacained or unconscious, even though I've gotten over the cold sweats, I'm not too interested in pain.

Also, regarding the bill paying. See if your bank offers this service, They may have it and you are not aware of it. If they don't, check out the link Darius gave us yesterday. I don't believe they require a deposit, you give them your bank's routing number and account number and they take it directly out of your account and send it to your payee. Just go to the site, I'm sure they have explanations of what steps you need to take to participate.

Elaine, that shrimp dish sounds delicious, but I might leave out the green and red peppers, they don't agree with me. I bookmarked that site and will go explore it for other recipes later. Last night I made a Thai curry dish that I saw on Caprial and John's cooking show ...and also made Crab Rangoon. Lots of them. I had no idea there were so many wonton wrappers in one little package! They can be frozen so I deep fried 8, and froze the other 50. LOL They turned out fine.

Asked DH if he liked them. He said they were lighter than the ones we get at a chinese restaurant. I said, I asked if you liked them and he said, they're lighter. I said, I didn't ask if they were lighter I asked if you liked them. You made a statement about them, not an opinion. Finally he said Oh, yeah, I liked them. Pulling teeth I tell ya!!
The Thai recipe called for red chili paste so I was a little cautious in putting it in, as they didn't give amounts but on the show they put in a big glob...good thing, it was pretty hot. Kind of near the edge of too hot, hope I remember the amount next time.

Suzie sounds like you had all your calamities in one fell swoop! Remodeling is enough of a mess, without drain problems. Sarv, you might want to consider the Rotorooter guy too! Especially in the cold weather. Our septic alarm went off clang! clang! clang! , last year. DH assumed there was a margin of safety but he was wrong. When they came to pump it, the guy said it was almost ready to back up because the float had failed. The builder installed an enclosed (probably cheaper) float/pump which can't be repaired, so we had to put in a new (separate) pump and float.

9kitty, I don't think nonsubscribers can read our addresses or email, but I know they can send dmail. Wonder who "told" her you would send seeds for a SASE. I really think that's kind of nervy. You did the right thing.

Speaking of seeds, Molly, I sent off a packet of Moonflower seeds that Darius had said she wanted, along with some morning glories. Did your mail man hijack them? Seems they should have been there by now. If not, watch your mailbox.

Here's what I did with my plastic covered fireplace opening...remember I was feeling drafts from it and covered it up? The plastic was so ugly, I decided to stick a poster in front. Almost looks like a fire, if you ignore the palm tree.....LOL

Hi to Kelly, and Mary E and everyone else I haven't mentioned....I
need to tackle the laundry monster and tidy up the living room, which is cluttered with every cat toy Sammi could pull out of the box. I swear it's just like having a two year old....plus shedding..

Morning. Yippee it's Friday! Hardly anyone here in the office today, so will be an easy day. Rainy and windy, but supposed to be sun by this afternoon.

Elaine - that sizzilin shrimp looks sooo yummi. Any leftovers?

Sarv - ooooooh! septic problems are no fun. We use the Rid-X once a month or so. I don't know if it does any good or not.

Molly - Going back to bed sounds like a great idea!

Orchid - That was some day. Hope that never happens again.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Orchid, that was some day. I think that you might be paid up for years with all that.

Sarv, hope all the thrones you encounter today are unoccupied!!

Meezer, love that poster, sort of hard to ignore the palm tree though.

Susieq, hope work is a breeze.

101, not only does the recipe "sound" good, but "looks good" too.

To all others, I'm waving frantically.

I am off to Louisville about 50 miles away to a wallpaper store. Looking for border to finish DM's living room, and I am going to redo my kitchen this year, so looking for me also. So will be gone until early afternoon, where I will promptly drop all packages, and rush right back here to see what you all have been up to.

Have a good one.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

M5, I thought I had thanked you for the seeds, Sorry. And the photo of your yard is gorgeous!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. My fingers must not be awake, they're typing dislexic words. A little of that goes a long way, and it does make life interesting sometimes.

Sarv, I read your post and turned on the news to find out about the ship sinking. It's an Egyptian ferryboat on the Red Sea, they say 1300 pilgrims returning from Meca aboard, they are still pulling survivors out of the water. It will take a big investigation to learn the cause.

Plugged drain is no fun, especially when it involves the toilet. May your day be filled with clean and empty restrooms wherever you roam. It reminds me of when we were remodeling our only bathroom, had taken out the toilet and everything down to bare walls and bare floor so we could install sheet rock on all the walls and particle board over the boards on the floor and then put in vinyl. Cousins were on their way from the east coast, driving, no cell phones then. Well, they arrived earlier than expected, and when they called from town to let us know they had come early, we had just installed the vinyl floor but weren't supposed to walk on it yet. We met them in town and told them to be sure and use a bathroom before we started for home because we didn't have one. The guys installed the toilet right after we got home and even rehung the door (special request), and the new shower was moved out of the living room and hooked up the next day. The cousins haven't been back but it wasn't because of our bathroom, they had just made that once in a lifetime trip to see America.

My hubby left on a 3 day trip this morning, he will be back Sunday afternoon in time to watch the Superbowl game. I don't have any wild parties planned, probably will just play with the kitty, do a bunch of housecleaning, play with the kitty, catch up with the laundry monster, play with the kitty, go riding if the weather is ok for it, play with the kitty and read a lot.

Yesterday I did get out to ride for a while, the sun was so bright on the snow that I should have worn my sunglasses. We had snow showers earlier in the morning but not enough to add anything to the snowpack, then it cleared and was pretty the rest of the day. Nothing like the weather forecast said it would be and it's the same forecast for the next few days so that has me wondering. It must be nice to be paid for being wrong.

Breakfast time, eggs sound good with leftover toasted bisquits instead of toast.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Yeah, the Seahawks are playing in the Super Bowl!
Yep, they are from my old town, Seattle, so am rooting for the Seahawks even I have watched a single game this year.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Back from the huff/puff. Used the jon at home before I left - came home and gave the thing a flush and stood with a heap of towels in my arms- things all went down!! Hooray!! Must be the plug isn't solid yet!! And of course it is raining cats and dogs out - DH will have a fit now!! I will offer to hold the umbrella and try not laugh! (he refuses to get the darn thing pumped...)

Went to the library to get some more books - I read 4 last week!!! Of course, they don't open until 1pm - so I'll go back this afternoon. I can't be without something to read especially on a weekend where I have nothing major planned.

Just looked out the slider and I see our resident squirrel is visiting - has his mouth full!!! Gotta go give him the boot!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning - at least it still is for awhile.

Went to Aquafit this morning. Can do that now that I'm RETIRED. But the Friday morning instructors are bummers IMHO. I'm not likely to go back on Fridays except next week for their brunch AFTER aquafit and maybe for coffee sometimes. Next week I'll try out Wednesday. I do think that Wednesday will be my day to volunteer at the FC - one of the interviewers has been having health problems - but I can do Aquafit first. I'll stick with Thursdays since the deep water instructor is the best that day. And I'll stick with Mondays when I like to do shallow and the instructor is excellent.

Glad I drove back yesterday and not today. It's raining fairly steadily. Was freezing rain this morning. Yesterday was sunny and the roads were good. When I drove down on Monday, it was cloudy but dry once I crossed the border.

Canadian cars have had manditory daytime driving lights since 1990. Seems to me that more cars in the US have them as well - or are using their headlights in the daytime. It REALLY makes a difference on 2-lane roads when judging the distance and speed of oncoming traffic if you want to pass.

The shrimp recipe above sounds wonderful. What is Ranchero cheese? Might not be able to get it in Canada. Is there another type of cheese which is similar?

I'm going to use up some of the filo pastry I have left from Christmas for some appetizers. Food Cupboard volunteer party is tomorrow evening. Also tame the laundry monster who went wild while i was away.

While in Rochester I got into the library of the Eastman School of Music. Years ago, I bought an Elly Ameling Christmas recording which has a piece - Berceuse by a Dutch composer - Diepenbrock. I
tried to get the music, but found it was out of print. It is for Mezzo-soprano, cello and piano, but the cello is so high that most of it could be played on viola without alteration.

I found it in the library there and got a copy while my mother was still in a nursing home down the street. But on one page, I cut-off the top vocal line. I managed to find it again and someone kindly donated a copy to me - they require a copy card and the minimum is $5. Now, I'm entering it all into my computer notation program to make a new legible copy and transcribe the cello line for viola. That's ONE retirement project.

Well, nearly lunch time. I'll be back later.

Ann

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Uhhh...yard?

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well just got back home from the wallpaper place. I realy did good. Got 10 rolls of border, for DM's living room, 6 for her bedroom, 1 roll of paper for my kitchen, and 6 rolls of border for my kitchen. All of it together, was just a little over $100.00. All of it, with the exception of the wallpaper was on sale for 3 or 4 dollars a roll.

Now I am off to the kitchen to prep for supper. DGD is coming, and I will probably have to go get her about 30 miles away. DH is not home from the hospital yet. They were going to work in DMIL, so have no idea what time to expect him.

I will be back later.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi All,
Just checking in quick during lunch.

Well, my MIA customer called Today, and asked me if I was o.k.,,,told her yes and asked why,,,she said she came yesterday and thought something was wrong cause the door was locked. I would have Thought she would have called yesterday!!!!! Told her no, it wasn't,,,in the winter, you just have to press down a little harder,,,,,now, this particular customer comes Every week, and can Never get the door open,,,I ALWAYS tell her to press down harder,,,this is Every week mind you,,,, so I told her, I saw her car and she had just pulled in so I went to use the facilities quick and when I came out she was gone.

So, she says, "No honey, it was locked, that's why I left",,,,I said, "No, it wasn't,,,it's just that it is sticking a little and you have to press down harder, remember last week when I told you about it when you told me it was locked then"? I got an "Oh, well, when can you do my hair now" I Wanted to say next week!!!! Now, she changed her appointment from Fri. to Thurs. because they had Dr. appointments. She was calling right before her regular time!!!!

I Never heard her car door or her walking up the steps, knocking on the door or ringing the door bell!!!

Oh to be able to work in a morgue,,,at least they don't talk to you!!!!!

Well, now that that's off my chest and I took an extra Xanex,,,I feel a Little better.

Sorry to unload,,,but I can't stand when people are so ignorant!!! Ticks me right off! (Not the word I was going to use)

I did read through all the posts but was just being selfish and unloading,,,sorry it was on you all,,,,well, my next customer should be here soon so better get going.

I'll be back later when I'm in a better mood

Kelly

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Hi everybody. I don't know what is the matter with me today, just feel wrung out and groggy.

I stayed up until 12:30 trying to make backups of the important stuff in case the worm attacks me today. It was slow and difficult and I was starting to think the worm was already after me. LOL

Slept until after 9am, DH came in to see if I was still alive. Have done one set of exercises and sat down and iced my shoulder, and when that was over went to sleep again in the CHAIR and woke feeling like h...

Time for exercises again, but lunch first I think. We tried Stouffers beef stroganoff that comes in a big bag in the freezer section. Has 'meat product' that I was kind of wary of, but it turned out very nice so I will have that for lunch today. Made a lot. We also went back to having our salad before dinner, since I am kinda sorta preparing things, I was craving my salad.

Have not done one thing yet today, so hope I can wake up and get something accomplished. PT is at 5:15 today. yuck but that is the last late one, usually around 3 for the rest of the month.

Kelly you worry me with your Xanex. Those things do me in, I do NOT like them.

When I feel more like sitting here, I will tell you the tale of the water leak we had in July 2003.

Susan
=^..^=

Hi everyone
Finally got a minute to come in here and see what y'all are up to today.

Sarv, yes yes I do have some left over. Sorry I didn't put it out on the counter for your breakfast. *sigh* Should have realized it would have just fit the bill. LOL LOL So sorry to hear about your plumbing troubles. Actually, I can sympathize with you as we're having some of the same. It's not backing up yet ... but I know the warning signs. That's on the DH's "honey do" for the week-end.

Maria, don't know how you stand the dentist without novacaine. Makes me hurt to think about it. I'm such a chicken when it comes to dentist! *tremble*

Molly, sure hope all that rain that came through didn't make a mess of things in the new flower beds. I was beginning to think we would need an ark. LOL Hope your trip doesn't get canceled. Hi to Darius.

Orcad, sure sounds like you had enough bad luck in one day to last you for a bit.

M5, I *love* Crab Rangoon. Please share your recipe. The best I've ever had was in Montana. Sooo wonderful. I have a dish that calls for that chili paste, also, and it doesn't take much at all.

Defoe, have fun in Louisville. You must be a glutten for punishment! LOL More wall paper? Okay, borders are a bit easier ...

Hi Suzie ... have a great day. Sounds like you're getting some of what we had yesterday. Try to stay warm and dry. :)

Hi Ann so good to see you back. Glad your trip went so well even if you weren't able to make all your connections. Going in to the FC will be *all* different now. LOL Ranchero cheese is a mild to medium Mexican cheese that comes in a round and is sort of soft. There's not really enough on it to make a difference, so I wouldn't go buy it special. Actually, I like the dish without the cheese. Sometimes we put it and sometimes not.

Mary, sounds like you have a great couple of days planned. :)

Kelly, we all have to unload sometimes. So sorry you had such an agravating time. Here's the 2X4. Even if you don't use it on her ... you might try hitting something else. LOL LOL

Well, it has taken me *forever* to do this post, so I'll post it and get myself up and away from this computer. I don't have to worry about supper tonight as we supported the school and purchased ribs which will be delivered later. I'm taking out a container of brunswick stew that we made a bit back to go with it. Have some slaw made ... soooo Supper! ;)
Hugs all way round ... Elaine

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Kelly,

USE the 2 x 4! And don't be TOO accommodating when rescheduling that customer's appointment. And don't apologize for unloading on this thread.

Thanks for the tips on the cheese, Elaine.

Too bad I didn't see the message early enough as to where the pots are in open stock. There is a "Linen's and Things" right near the shopping centre I was at near Fairport. Actually, there's one here in Ottawa too, but I don't know whether the merchandise is the same as in the US. I spent nearly 3 hours at a big mall during a week in which the state had cancelled tax on clothes and didn't buy a thing. Total purchases other than restaurants and gasoline (I have 3/4 tank of cheap [well, cheaper than here] American gas in my car), amounted to under $50 and it was almost all spent in a drug store or a supermarket. Will have to get back and try to do better next time. LOL

Ann

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

lol, Kelly ,rather be in a morgue? Not me, lol

As, Elaine, I said before, new dentistry does not hurt nearly as bad as when I was a child.

Susan, good for you, it is about time you just do as little as possible, nothing runs away, especially the cleaning and laundry, lol

Mary, am not in the least bit dislexic as far as I know but when it comes to typing I am bad

M5, thanks will look for one of those frisbees, I know he will love it

Orchid, I had some bad days with our old farm house but never that bad, one awful thing I remember very well when the oil tank in the cellar spli in two, oil all over the floor, the house smelled of heating oil for weeks and me pregnant, yuk

The vet saw Samson today, he is in very good health and was complimented how well I take care of him. Was given all sorts of medicine for ticks and such. He was awfull, nearly knocked everyone over, he was really misbehaving, so naughty, lol. the Vet worried more about me then Samson, he weighs 85 1/2 lbs, that is only 29 1/2 lbs more then I do, she said please don' get hurt , it sounded like you guys talking to me, LOL

It rained today as if so hard, I had a hard time driving, had to stop sometimes the water wanted to swallow the car with me and Samson in it, such hurrud weather we seem to be having for this time of the year, I think I'd rather have snow, at least that is pretty to look at.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

LOL Maria - that naughty Samson!! Just like a naughty kid!! Did you ever take him to obedience school? They should have that for kids too!!

Just got back from picking up DGS from school daycare. He's busy now making something- he is never still a minute - but amuses himself so nicely!

Made a trip to the grocery store to pick up stuff for dinner- left 100 dollars there!! How can things cost so much!! It's a local store and things are a bit more than the big ones, but you know everyone there - all the check out gals and baggers -plus they carry your groceries to the car and I love that!!

GG- unload here- that is what we are here for!! Free counseling!! Are you still taking several xanax a day? I went on line and read that they are highly addictive - be careful. I have some but seldom take more than 2 a day. I'll go for weeks taking none, then need one. But I hate taking pills. I tell ya they do work for me tho!! I'd like to take one a day....

M5- I absolutely love crab rangoon - post the recipe - I've never made them - and they are easy??? Maybe I'll do them for super bowl. Do you need a deep fryer? (I have one, just never use it!)

Time to think about dinner.

quoted
"nothing runs away, especially the cleaning and laundry"
Toooo true. :-(

Oh Maria, I can just see that Samson running all over the place wanting to love everyone and not understanding at all why everyone acts the way they do. *smile* Yep, he's a big boy. My male dog weighed 85 and could have drug me *everywhere* ... but he was oh so laid back. I had a little golden that only weighed 50 lb, though, and couldn't control her at all. Finally had to return her to the school. She was a gorgeous little girl ... just in the *wrong* business. LOL

I'm voting again on that crab recipe, M5. I've found several, but would love to see yours.

Sarv, so nice he entertains himself. Very unusual these days. I like the small stores, also. We have a local meat market where you can *still* get meat cut while you wait. If it doesn't suit ... they'll try again. :)

Hi and a big wave to those that haven't popped in.
... elaine

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Elaine, a woman came to the vet with a female golden, aboy the same age as Samson he looked like a Giant next to her lol

Can't beloeve it is already news time, where does the time go to?

I did have a trainer, Sarv, Samson is so much better now but when he sees other people he goes bananas.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi Again,

Well, am in a better mood now,,,,OOOOO, I just could slap her one,,,,enough about that,,,lol

Elaine,
That recipe looks scrumptious but too many ingredients for me,,,I'm a the less ingredients the better kind of cook,,,,'cause I Hate to cook,,,lol Thanks for the 2x4,,,I Wish I could use it on her,,,lol oooo, I Love Crab Rangoons also,,,Love most Oriental food

OF,
Sounds like one heck of a day,,,one that would Not want to be repeated,,,even half of it,,,,grrrrr

M5,
LOL @ DH's answer to your food question,,,,Men!!! Bill on the other hand,,,I don't even have to ask,,,he Always tells me when he doesn't like something,,even when he does,,,,the story goes like this, I'll ask him what he has a taste for for dinner,,he say's I son't care,,,so, I start making something,,,he comes in the kitchen and says Oh, you're making that? I really don't like that,,,so then I say, well you liked it the last time I made it,,,he says no, I really didn't,,I say B-----------,,,we eat dinner and he says,,,that was good,,,,

the second story goes like this, I make something for dinner and he says Oh, good we're having that,,,so I'm thinking great,,,we eat,,he says,,,that wasn't very good,,I say why not,,,he says it didn't taste the same as the last time you made it,,,,grrrrr

Susan,
They hardly affect me. Unfortunately I have a very high tolerance for medications. Hope you're feeling better by now today. Those exercises take a lot out of a person.

Ann,
I Really wanted to tell her I was booked,,,but I didn't,,,I put her in for tomorrow morning,,,I really need the money,,,LOL

sarv,
Yes, I still take them 4x per day,,,,they don't affect me that much,,,not on a very high dosage,,,just enough to take the edge off. I have gone with out them to see if I have developed a dependancy like Dr. shrink said I would and I do not go through withdrawals if I don't have them. I've been kinda in a funk again so they help me from wanting to slap everyone who's being ignorant or that want to make an apointment on the phone but doesn't know their schedule. Ah, the joys of working with the public,,,,grrrrrr That's great that DGS entertains himself so nicely,,,what a good boy!

Maria,
LOL,,,not really but some days I really would. Actually I would Love to work in the background at a nursery,,,just take care of the plants,,,dig around in the dirt,,,make new gardens,,would be fabulous,,plants don't talk to you,,,,lol

Hi to everyone I missed.

Thanks to all for letting be B----,,,,I don't do it very often but sometimes just feel the need,,,lol,,,, Like everyone else I'm sure.

Well, I'm going to go read the book I'm currently involved in. The Grace Awakening,,,Believing in grace is one thing, Living it is another,,,,how appropriate for today,,,,lol You can tell I need to read this book. It's very good BTW.

Elaine,

All that rain did the plants good. I bought a van load yesterday and put them in the yard to catch the rain. I thought it would keep up all day, but it didn't.

It was overcast but the rain never started til 6pm.

So we got nothing done inside and lots done outside. Did some rearranging in the pumphouse with some sawhorses and boards, so when it gets cold at night, we can put the seedlings up off the floor. That's so we don't trip on them when we come and go.

Jeremy finished put the end pieces on the roof and then went out on the property with a wheelbarrow. I needed lots and lots of pine needles for mulching pathways.

Darius and I laid out the plans for the new plants. By george, we got all of them in except the ones we were going to put around the bird bath. Since we don't have a birdbath, I figured they could wait. When the rains started at 6, I had one more plant to put in and Jeremy grabbed the shovel, dug a quick hole and grabbed the tools to put them away. I continued playing in the dirt for a minute more to get some pine needles spread around, and did manage to get the rest of my gear put away.

I saw Darius taking a picture and maybe if I ask nice, she'll post it here. It will be a good chance for me to see what we did. Now it's too dark to see.

The good news about the rain, those plants will love it.

Definitely NOT a hangover. And who's callin' who 'old'. LOL

They cancelled mt PT appointment, the therapist went home sick and they didn't have anyone to cover for her. I was disappointed, I felt yesterday's session really did me some good. So I am trying to do my own exercises on time today, well this afternoon, I did. Had my latte really late, just fiished it so now I will probably be awake again when it's time for bed.

Kelly, I'm glad they don't bother you, but I still worry about you. Unload anytime you want on here, it does help. I did it a bunch right after the surgery. I think.....hard to remember that now. That is a good thing I think. LOL

We are going to have my sausage skillet tonight. You take onions, peppers, potatoes (in the summer green tomatoes, but don't have those today.) and smoked sausage link and cut it all up and fry it in olive oil, and then add a brown gravy, or onion gravy, or mushroom gravy mix in a packet, let it simmer and it's so good. Another salad for me too. LOL

Susan,
Thanks, for thinking of me. I don't need to unload very often but when I do,,,you guys will be the poor soals who hear it,,,LOL And yeah, I think I remember some not very nice days you were having,,,you had an excuse with your surgery for not being your self.

I think I'm going to make a nice salad for myself also,,,sounds scrumtious!!

Brrrr, it's cold out there! I went riding and got very cold. Here it is about an hour later and I still feel cold even after a big mug full of hot tea. The temp is just above freezing, the wind is blowing and I thought I was dressed warmly enough but forgot my gloves, just like yesterday. My ears got cold even with a stocking cap over them. The good news is that I got Patch ridden for the 1st time since October, not too much of a ride but at least it's something, and he was a very good boy today. I was going to go farther but I was getting too cold and the wind was in my face coming back home which made it feel worse.

Kelly, I hope your client doesn't expect you to walk out to her car and escort her inside. When you were trying to explain the sticky door I was thinking "what part of no don't you understand"? Well, I guess you just don't get a potty break when she is due to show up. LOL, a real life lesson to go with the book you are reading. How long have you been working with the public? I know that some people handle that better than others, and sometimes a new type of job is just the thing. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) at how many people with college degrees drive a truck or put roofs on buildings just for a change of pace for a while. We know a few of them.

Shame on Samson for misbehaving like that, especially now that we know he knows better.

Molly, you made good progress today. I hope Darius' picture turned out so we can all see what you did. It's hard for me to emagine anybody planting anything since most of our ground is still covered with snow. What is exposed is muddy and the part under the snow is frozen.

Elaine, that dish looks very good, but I think for somebody who doesn't like to cook I want something simpler. However, it did remind me that I have a bag of shrimp in the freezer, so maybe I will make a shrimp stirfry for my dinner. Somebody mentioned Crab Rangoons, I have to do a search and see what that is.

Susan, the skillet dinner sounds tasty, I'll have to remember that.

It's almost time to go out and feed the horses so I need to go stand by the woodstove to warm up before I have to go out again.

It's a little rough, but it's getting there. The stepping stones come down from the front porch leading to the pump house. To the right is the barbeque, table and chairs.

We made a pathway of pine needles bordered by liriopeand society garlic with kale and cabbage scattered about. The tree down to the right is an eastern red cedar. The one on the left isn't planted yet and will go down in the old driveway.

We still need a bunch of wheelbarrows of pine needles to finish off the ground cover, but there is lots around, if not on my place, the vacant land across the street. I hope to get that done first thing in the morning as we have company coming tomorrow.

Molly, I hope your guests are as impressed as they should be. It's looking very good! Did you plan this all out on paper or just dig and plant as the mood struck you? I can't tell looking at the picture. It looks like your weather might get kind of wild and wet tonight.

Hello again, Anne, you've been away for a while. I hope you can at least lurk when you can't post. It's hard to keep up with all these Coffee folks even when a person is here every day. Maybe Julie should have called this the gab fest.

Dinner was a very simple stir fry with onions, cabbage, and shrimp, fried in a little corn oil with a few dashes of Mongolian Fire Oil, served on brown rice because I don't like the white kind all that much and brown is better for me. I did finally get warm, maybe it was the Mongolian Fire Oil that did it!!

Kittymom I hope you have a nice trip to Ind. For you to there is about the same drive time as from here to Columbus OH. I would imagine you go up 44 to St louis then hit 70. Watch yourself on 44 in the St Louis area everyone up there is complaining about it being dangerous.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Yeah, that's how I go. then on to effingham and up to champagne and over to humm, can't remember now but then I turn north and go to Lafayette.

I always take the big loop around St Louis, I used to go through and that was a mess so now I take the big giant loop 270 I think to get into Illinois. much better.

My biggest problem is getting sleepy, I drink so much coffee I am almost sick by the time I get there but at least I don't go to sleep. LOL

I sure hope my arm is working by then. The therapist said I probably will have to take longer breaks and move around more, whichmeans the drive time will increase. So we'll see if I follow that advice.

I go by myself, cause we can't go anyplace together because of all the animals. I don't think DH wants to go anyway, he doesn't really like to travel that much. Never has. I however, love to go. Used to love to fly, but I can't go to the garden center and bring back a car load of plants when I fly. LOL

That is one of the things that DD and I love to do every year. I am going for DGD's birthday, but really it is to get plants.
