If it's to late Karen, I have some seeds and ordered more.

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

Oh no, not too late, I'll probably close the thread tomorrow sometime. You made it ;).

Dowagiac, MI

I'd like a packet as well, if it's still open.

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

The first part of the trip is accomplished, they made it to Canada!

Soon they will get to DarwinESF's mailbox!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Yeah!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Can't Wait!!!

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

Ok.. just one little bump in the road.. somehow between my shopping cart that showed the correct list with correct quantities and the website's checkout system.. the order lost considerable weight, by which I mean that out of 13 packets of blue impatients there were 5 in the shipment.

I've already detailed the problem(s... actually there are two other small issues in the order, but they only effect myself and zarcanat) in an e-mail to the company, and hopefully will have that cleared up. Certainly I'll keep everyone posted.. and in the meantime will start considering what to do if there is some unspoken limit 5 on the Impatiens seeds.

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

I will keep them all so nobody fights over them LOL! LOL!

Dowagiac, MI

Will they back order them, or send you what's missing from your original order?
blpender

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I would happy with a few seeds if we all agree to divide them up. How many seeds are in a pack?

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

Waiting on a reply, my e-mail yesterday would have gotten there after hours, but I'm assuming this is fixable.. The precursor to this is that when I placed the order somehow once it was all paid for two of the quantities on two seperate items had mysteriously doubled, and one was the Impatiens.. from 13 packets to 26. I e-maild them and got an e-mail back that the quantities had been updated, but not what they were updated to..

At any rate I suggested that they refill the extra portion of the order and, if that I'd be happy to split the shipping cost with them for the second shipment.. I'm just worried we got the last stock or something.

We can all discuss splitting up packets if need be, thanks for that suggestion.. I don't know how many seeds are in the packs yet and have asked zarcanat to hold the package there at least until I hear from the company about any possible solution (that way she won't have to ship two boxes here). Hopefully I can get this resolved early this week.

Oh, I would hate to make this a first sour watchdog comment, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this was something to do with me using firefox or the general magic that somtimes happens to information that gets sent through a tiny wire across hundreds of miles.

;) Thanks for your patience,
Byron.

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

*Okay*

I did get a response back from Secretseeds, a little longer interim than I'd expect but then again it is the season for seed companies. Here you go:

Hello Byron

I am sorry, but we have sold out of the blue Impatiens namchabawensis,
the last few packets were divided between the last few orders that we
received for it. Have updated the website as we have had server
problems this week. Obviously it is very rare and demand has been high. You will
be pleased to know that it is a good seed producer. Delphinium nudicaule
is also out of stock and we obviously charged you by mistake. I am
sorry about this, and we will send you the Vestia seeds free of charge, if
that's okay.

Many thanks

John Langston.

Ok, so I'll ask zarcanat to send that package this way and when it gets here I'll count out the seeds for the blue impatient and we can split them up in some equal way. I need some feedback on how to do this though, there were some people who ordered more than one pack of the Impatiens and I was wondering how we all felt about just dividing the seeds up squarely.. also I'll redo the figures too, probably early next week as I'm leaving town for the weekend.

Between now and then if everyone could let me know what's best for them and/or what you think is best for this situation, I'm sure we can figure this out. And if any of us don't get these to take hopefully some of us will have luck with the seed set and be able to share again next year.

The rest of the orders are jsut fine, the Delphinium was mine (anyone got a red delphinium to share? lol) and the Vestia is coming your way zarc.

Last thing... is this considered a co-op? and is that illegal on DG? and why?
Byron

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Byron
First off thanks for all you are doing.
Second I don't think it's a co op just some gardeners sharing seeds!!
And last but not least, I know I was one that ordered more than one pack but I will be happy with whatever I can get. If someone wants less, I am more than willing to take extra.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

I didn't join any co-op. Actually, I think what the co-ops were, was one person acting on the behalf of many others to order a large amount of plants at wholesale prices (from wholesalers). This doesn't come close to that.

Byron - I'm also for just splitting them up evenly. I hope this didn't turn into too a big a headache for you. I think it's great you were willing to do this for the rest of us. Enjoy your weekend out of town.

Dowagiac, MI

Thank you for doing this for us, Byron. I hope it isn't going to be a headache for you. I agree that a few seeds is better than no seeds at all. If we all have to take less than we expected, so be it.
blpender

Fruitport, MI(Zone 5a)

Byron, I agree with blpender (a few seeds is better than no seeds at all). So I'm fine with splitting them up evenly. Thanks for taking care of everything for us.

Lincoln Park, MI(Zone 5a)

Is there any chance that I can get in on this offer?Be willing to do whatever is required...

Loretta...

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

Aww, Loretta,

If we had gotten the whole order I'd've bet that someone would have been able to spare a few seeds. Now I'm not even sure how many each of us will get.. If what we've been told is correct though, we should have plenty of seeds for next year.

Does anyone have any experience with rooting impatient cuttings? Depending on what germintion is and how fast these grow someone might have an extra plant to trade later in the season? Can you tell I'd really like to be able to tell you there were plenty and I'd be happy to send some your way? I think the best I can really promise though is to put you at the top of the list for seeds next year (or maybe later this year?) if I get good results.

And for everyone else... it's so easy to organize something like this when it's for something you want.. I was happy to offer this little trial of a newly found blue species, jsut wish I had gotten it all together sooner, lol. When I get the seeds and count them all out I'll post some numbers so we can all figure out how meticulous we all have to be with our grow conditions (ie, how little room we have for error ;) )

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

Hi there, I am just coming back from the post office and wanted to tell you that the blue gold is on its way. Also sent Perennialgirl's ones.

Lincoln Park, MI(Zone 5a)

I'm sad :o(( can't you tell??I just wish I would have gotten here sooner..Make sure you post a picture,I guess I just have to settle for that for now...Good luck and remember me,please..!!

Loretta...

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

If these are like regular impatiens, they root easily from cuttings.

Byron, I'm with everyone else, whatever, some is better than none, and hopefully if one of us has germination problems one of the others will share a cutting or seeds.

Melissa

(Zone 7a)

Byron, this was such a great offer you made to us - let me bow out now so those seeds go farther among the ones who got here before me.

You shouldn't take it so personnal because we do not know the real background of every seller on e-bay and some of them we might perceive as fraudulous persons. If anybody's willing to bit instead of searching for other sources, it is their right and their choice and we do not have to qualify neither of them as fraudulus or naive, every people on this earth has the responsibility of their acts.

If you read my posts, I always reply to the ones that are hurting you, that these seeds and plants really exists, and I provide the latins names and some web links; not everybody has the same knowledge and when people that knows more are in a thread, usually, they create a balance.

I must agree with you that your Positive Feedback is 99.6% on E-Bay and that speaks for itself. Hope that we will all learn from that before making commentary that could prove to be hurting.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy it here, as much as I do.

Any updated information on the blue impatiens seeds?

Hello

Here is a photo I took today of my 'Blue Diamond' Impatiens (Impatiens namchabarwensis)

The colour are some more darker than on the photo, but it is a GREAT plant, and I hope to make some hybrids very soon.

Greetings from Norway

Wow, now those pictures make me think all of this might have been worth it. Thanks Egil! Hey, since you've assuredly grown these plants can you confirm or deny the information Sunddark has shared... Call me skeptical but :shrugs: I hate when people could have very good ulterior motives for sharing misinformation. Forgive me for being from the US and being used to that running rampant.

Hey everyone, I haven't gotten the seeds yet but I'm not worried yet either, they'll be here soon I'm sure.

Sunddark welcome to DG, personally you have a ways to go to convince me of your professionalism no matter what your e-bay feedback is, and I think you owe heathrjoy an apology not the other way around.. unless she only made her comments to stop anyone on this post from bidding on the auction, in which case rant away. But if she was trying to protect us against the possibility of e-bay fraud in some way (since some of us know how poorly feedback works for plant auctions.. as well as many other auctions that have a time factor in them) then the onus of convincing your buyers that you can be trusted and that you're not in cahoots with other e-bayers or that you aren't buying seeds from sites and marking them up for e-bay (explain for me why your photo on the auction page and the secretseeds catalogue photo are exactly the same? Haven't you grown these yourself.. a lot.. since you've worked out new germination info?) All you needed to do is come on here and explain what you are and what you aren't, and while I understand how taking offense changes the tone of everything a person says sometimes.. It seems to me someone with the credentials you offer wouldn't need to throw around words like libel and slander about a gardener who tried to do some detective work before getting possibly swindled on an auction for a (let's face it) fairly unbelievable looking plant.

You can respond to that in one of two ways, and it will be telling. And if I'm wrong, which is not rare, I'm sorry.

luvsgrtdanes, not too much, got scolded which made me feel a little infantile and a bit hippocritical. Oh and this was apparently a co-op. Who knew? :sigh: I'm not supposed to let that sort of thing get to me though, apparently it's the key to happiness as well as to the decomposition of society at large. Huh? Oh yeah, here's the photos so no one has to do the legwork. I hope I was right about the rule where you only have to photoshop something a little to get it to be technically your own work. Though it's interesting that such a rule would in effect protect people who would profit from someone else's image without having to compensate the original artist/photographer/imager.

Hi there, seeds should arrive any day from now on, from my experience it takes around 10 days, cheers!

Hello

I think that this discussion must come to an end, and the conclusion must be that Mr. sunndark is a serious eBay seller.

He did a great job in bringing this absolutely new species accessible for the plantworld.

I think this species wil be a breaktrough in getting the blue color into the Impatiens world.

I hope to make some hybrids by crossing it with other species - including Impatiens glandulifera.

This species are however in the dark side of the blue colour, and something between the 2 photos you see.

It is extremely difficult to photograph this species, as the blue pigment are lightning up by flash.

I know that everyone will be satisfied with this great plant, and I hope that you will share seeds or cuttings with each other.

This is indeed a valuable and completely new species.

If you want to use my photos of the 'Blue Diamond' Impatiens- pls. feel free to use them as you wish.

Greetings to all of you from Norway.
Egil

*pant* Ok, just ran down and checked, not today.. but the minute that package gets here I'll let everyone know ;).

Also, I'm sorry to have made it seem like I questioned the blue.. From your photos (which are excellent Egil, thank you, and thank you for your permission to use them, that is a rare internet kindness these days) I am certain that the blue is going to be stunning, and have no worries about disappointment. What I questioned is how (unless sunddark is a photographer by trade and took the photo and sold it to secretseeds) there are two instances of the same photo used by two different entities in a commercial way. In the U.S. we are sadly so preoccupied with money and profit that we can't bear the thought of having someone make money in any way shape or form out of something that we created without reimbursement. I had originally posted a photo of the blue impatient from sunddark's auction. It was removed because it was not my image to use. I think it would be kindof.. less than professional.. if he or she had taken the image from Secretseeds in the first place, and deepened the blue just slightly (as if it needed that!) You can't tell as well in my altered image but the difference is there and it's faint. I'm bringing it up because it's not a practice I'd want a seller using on an action I'm interested in. It's employed by many catalogues and I refuse to order from these. Very simply, it's misrepresentation. Even if it's slight. And my other problem is with the image itself. If you're really growing these plants and not just redistributing seeds, then you should be posting your own pictures on the auction.

I'm not questioning that sunddark is a serious e-bayer, but the fact that his seed quality is high may just be the result of having found a few very reliable and very professional companies to buy from. And my response is less than understanding because I don't necessarily see anything in his or her defenses that really convince me heathrjoy was off the mark at all.. in fact such an aggressive response to something that might have been an innocent mistake makes me slightly more suspicious.

So.. Egil.. You have a beautiful plant.. I'm sure more than one.. any tips for germination success? And, have you tried warm instead of cool?

From the get-go, let it be known that this post and all following posts of mine (Heathrjoy) are MY opinion only and do not reflect the opinion of Dave's Garden or any of it's other members, so please don't hold them responsible for my opinions or what I write. Thank you everyone.

I wasn't even going to respond to all of this childishness, but since the intention of my post has come into question I will give an explanation. When I posted on Feb. 2, my intentions were to protect DGers from what I believed was a hoax auction. I believed it was a hoax auction for a few reasons (I'm going to be very honest here, so be warned some of you won't like this);

1. Mainly the way it was written. I have learned from experience to avoid buying things with such write-ups. From my experience, the more hype something has in it's advertising the less likely it is to live up to it. I don't apply this just to eBay, I apply this in all areas of my life (Just so you know. As much as Superthrive is praised on this website I found a bottle of it at my local store the other day and just could NOT buy it because of all the outlandish promises on the package). I have worked in sales, in many different fields. I have never found what I call the "carnival" or "circus" selling approach to work very well, at least not here in the States. Put your product out there, tell folks what it is and let them decide if they want to buy it or not. If it's a good product they will buy it and come back for more.

2. eBay feedback doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I have gotten letters from sellers on eBay stating that if I didn't leave them positive feedback they would leave me negative feedback. They had feedback in the thousands and what they were selling was junk and they knew it. All they wanted was people's money and positive feedback to continue their money making scam. Buying seeds and plants on eBay and the feedback system there has been discussed here on DG many times. There are pitfalls, especially concerning seeds. Mostly the time eBay allots you to leave feedback. Will you be able to germinate the seeds in that amount of time? Even beyond that, I wonder myself, if the seeds don't germinate does that mean it was the sellers fault (bad seeds?) or was it the buyer's fault (improper sowing?)? In any case, there are flaws in eBay's feedback system when it comes to seeds in particular.

3. I really did not believe that there was a Blue Impatien out there (much less one that came from the believed sight of Shangra-la). At the time I wrote on Feb. 2, there was one pic to look at (the same pic used in multiple places as DarwinESF explained above). That wasn't much to go on. That really could have been any flower that someone did a little "computer magic" to to make it look blue. It's not hard to do, most anyone could do it. Now, however, we have more pics. I am still waiting for the folks from DG to post their pics when they get blooms. I am not saying that I don't believe Egil's pics (which are gorgeous, btw), it's just that this has turned into such a big, hellacious deal. And, yes, I'm that skeptic.

4. This will be the last I mention of him, I don't want to talk about him again, I don't want to drag anyone else into this, especially since he is not present on DG to post his own comments. I only mentioned him in the beginning because he had cross-linked his auction to Sunndark's (or wrote at the bottom of his auction to see Sunndark's auctions) and I wanted others who wanted to to have access to both auctions and info also.
Cuz, now you got me fired up.
I did read entire "about me" page on eBay. I know what it says there about his physical situation. I also saw the pics of all the plants in his yard (who planted them? who takes care of them?) What is the purpose of the story he wrote there? If it is to make the general eBay buying public feel bad for him so that they will buy his items I believe that is wrong! Very wrong! I could pull that same thing, and I would be honest in every word I would be writing (being denied disability), but I would NEVER, NEVER even think of doing such a thing! And, yes, it does make me VERY angry when I see someone doing such a thing, because I know the limitations a hurting and disabled body can put on a person. I know the problems that can come from not being able to work...not being able to stand. I would never buy anything from him (if someone else wants to, that is their business). I would never buy anything from anyone who advertises their illness that way, along with what he is selling and how he is selling it. However, every chance I get I buy from and donate to disabled charities (thank you for calling me uncharitable). I have also found, in my experience, those who complain the most have the least problems...because those who have the most problems are too busy trying to figure out how to overcome them to complain about them.

Something that I would like to say to you Sunndark, is this...how do you think you know me? From one or two posts where I was trying to protect my friends? Actually (and please, no one take offense) these folks here aren't even really my friends (yet). I don't even know them. I've never talked to them before, not in a forum, not in mail, no where. I just wanted them to know what I thought they were getting into.

You called me some pretty horrible things, and for what reason? Because you thought you could? Because you thought you had the power to be able to do it because you were able to get TPTB (the powers that be) at DG to edit some post that I made? Does that make us even now in your mind? What I find so stupid is that you did exactly what you accused me of doing that made you so very upset! From a few words typed on a page you decided who and what I was, then told everyone here. Only when I did it I was talking about the auction and the seeds, not you personally. I never called you names. Who is responsible for libel, slander and defamation of character?

Yeah, you could say I do crack, evade my taxes, or whatever you want to say. Dude, people do that kind of thing. People say things. Get over it! It's life. Learn to live with it. Know what, even if you said those things about me, it wouldn't be the worst things that's ever been said about me. (you'll never know y'all!) I know it's not true, so it doesn't bother me. My family knows it's not true, so it doesn't bother me. Heck, my neighbors know it's not true. Are you really going to go around your whole life threatening people, or telling them off, because they said something you didn't like? Wow, you're going to be busy! And worn out. Anger takes a lot of energy.

And as far as something being wrong with me, and you feeling sorry for me for attacking a complete stranger. Grow up. Just freaking grow up. Yeah, I go around looking for strangers and attack them. Yeah, that's what I do all the time. In real life even. I jump out of my car while my DH is going down the road and I jump on strangers and attack them cuz something is wrong with me. It's a disease, I tell you. I can't help myself. You got me. There, does that make you feel better? No, I don't attack anyone, at anytime. No, I'm not in the least bit ashamed of myself, nor should I be. Don't bother trying to convince me that I should be. I'll stand up for people. I'll protect people, even people I don' t know, even if in the end I'm wrong. The reason behind that I'd never tell someone like you, Sunndark.

Ok, one last thing. You've been on eBay for how many years? Since Oct. '03. You have a total of 295 feedback, from both sales and purchases. OK. So much for the theory that you're doing this to make a living then. BTW, my feedback on eBay is 100%. Same name as here, check it out.

If you haven't figured it out yet in your short time at DG, this is a very, VERY, *VERY* nice place. It's not like other places on the web where rudeness is tolerated as daily activity. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if half of this post was edited for me, without any help from you, Sunndark. Members here are nice, the Admin here are nice, everyone is nice...with the exception to the rule being the person who "strolls in off the street" every now and then...but they either don't stay long or their attitude adjusts. So, hang your attitude at the door when entering DG, and pick it back up on your way out. Enjoy your time here, and learn some things.

Sunndark, now that we've both said our piece I sincerely hope this can be over with NOW.
Heather

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

Just to let everyone know.. haha, I'm still waiting. But now that I think of it the last package I received from Canada took a bit longer to get here than expected as well. I don't know why, I'm pretty close to it myself. lol. We'll see later today.
