Are we completely fixed now? Things are zipping!

Hi Dave, et al!

I've spent a lot of time moping along here at DG for the past week or so. I know things are always a bit bumpy when there are major changes. I had to get a new computer as mine was 7 years old, out of USB ports, out of space and just plain antiquated by today's standards. It arrived last night and I put it together, fired it up and DG is absolutely zip zip zipping along! It made me wonder if my computer was causing the slow downs for me or if we are just back to normal here?

Now, for me, DG is crawling still (has been the last few days), but other sites come right up. ?

Mine is 10 yrs old (could that be??) and it is moving mighty slow..old age.... I do need a new one- what'd get Chele?

I'm like gardenwife...other sites pull right up. Dave's continues to slug along at times.

I have cable internet now but due to my system being on overload, it was not working to full capacity. Now that I have room for everything and not so much crud, I don't have time to blink. LOL I have DG set to be my home page and yesterday I was waiting and waiting for it to pop up sometimes and today it is there like bam!

Hubby had to watch HP for a couple of weeks to find a good bargain (was gonna get a laptop but don't want to spend the money right now) and he found me a HP Pavilion Slimline (Intel Celeron) and I splurged a bit more for a flat screen so I could have my desk back! Now I really have to pray that my other house sells FAST! I am most amused by the size of the actual computer. It's amazing how far technology has come! This thing is smaller than a boot box!

Chele -how does DH 'watch HP'??? Could I watch too? Need special glasses?? What were the specs on the one you got?

LOL He works for HP and they have an employee store. It is mostly excess stock, refurb, special deals, etc. Anybody can look at the HP store but only employees can see the other part. I didn't get the biggest, best thing out there because we are carrying a heavy debt load at the moment but I got something much better than what I have, that I could upgrade or give to the kids when I get a laptop that I can lug around. Anyway, paid cash so no guilt and no interest, set me back about $700 and still have a $50 rebate to send in.

You can look at www.shophp.com We actually were sort of looking at DELL with their 0% interest, etc. Price didn't compare. For the record-we get no incentive if you buy from HP! LOL Okay, maybe job security??

Definitely not zippy here (other sites are pulling up fine, but DG is still suffering from serious sluggishness, and timeout error messages.

It's really slow here, too. Thought it was my puter so I cleaned it & refreshed everything...at least it's not just me.:)

I'm finding that the forums are extremely slow today, but PlantFiles is not quite as slow.

That is really freaky! I don't see the jiffies anymore but I have a render time of 359ms. What does that mean? I haven't been to DG in a few hours but just came back and it is still flying!

We just watched two movies on this puter. I'm amazed!
