Coffee and...For Saturday January 28, 2006

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

LOL, Oz, I guess that explains their names, Muffy and Chip....(sorry, but that made me laugh. )

Welcome Flowerchild....that's a lot to type, we might shorten it to FC, unless you have a preference for something else. Some of us have green houses or sun rooms, the rest of us just sigh in envy.

Elaine, it's been in the forties here too...which is a heat wave for us in January. I'm sure my mums and tulips arent happy with wet feet at this time of year. We'll see what kind of havoc it is wreaking when Spring rolls around. It's been raining all afternoon. Ugly gray skies, which makes me want to curl up with the fur kids and snooze.

Casey, we are so happy for you finally getting the last of the red tape unwound. We'll be watching your progress ....I'm sure it's going to be a budget squeeze for the next year, managing two properties. I keep asking DH if he wants to move further south when he retires, and he keeps saying no. It will be even worse when he doesn't have the commute to work anymore, and won't be blowing snow at 5:30 in the morning!
Maybe by the time you move Darius will have some time in her schedule to visit you and build a greenhouse??

Nice shopping Molly! Did you avoid a cat attack on your second visit? Watch your mailbox, Darius said she wanted some of the moonflower seeds so I've dropped a fat envelope in the mail to you.

DR, I bet VAnn will more than fill her time once she's fully retired. Sure wish we could hear the calls and read the emails from her replacement while she is unavailable!! He'll learn soon enough to swim, or sink! Do you prepare for the long sit at the wrestling matches by bringing a cushion? The last time we sat through something like that was a tournement DGS was in last year, and my posterior felt like someone had take the 2X4 to it. He said there was another one coming up and we said we were going to be very very busy, no matter what day it was held. I thought as my butt got bigger it would provide more padding but it doesnt seem to work that way.

Sarv, garlic for breakfast is good, keeps germy people at a distance. All my kids love to read, but it doesn't seem to have trickled down to their offspring. Too bad, it's been a source of great satisfaction to me since I was a sprout. My second name was Nose in a Book! Someone (?) asked what movie we saw...it was Matador, and it was.......uhhhh....Odd. Kind of a buddy movie, but a real stretch as far as the story went. I'm glad we got the matinee pricing...went to a different theatre, and NO senior popcorn, NO senior drink....spent $11 on snacks. I'm too cheap for that joint.

Darius, you won't gain any weight at your sister's! Sheeesh, I get nervous if I'm down to a half dozen eggs....! I absolutely agree with you wondering how people manage to live without food in the house... I could probably survive on what's in the freezer and the pantry for a couple of weeks, but I wouldn't like not having fresh dairy and fruits/veggies. Different strokes for etc.

Dcat, the hush puppies should be sterilized by the hot oil....just don't breathe on them after they are done! Don't you just love it when somebody volunteers your services! I have to squeeeeeeze info out of DH for events, such as how dressy is this place we are going to, who is going to be there, what time is it polilte to leave, and so forth. He's terminally challenged in social skills. Mostly I get, " I don't know"

He went with DGS this morning to look at some guy's old truck. When he left I told him," If you come home with another vehicle, who would you like to do the eulogy at your funeral?"

Susan, better every day?? It sounds like it. Hope you get a good night in so you are rested in the morning. You have lots of good company with your furkids though. Poor Souky got displaced from her favorite night time spot by DH's feet because Sammi showed up and planted himself next to her. Whooooosh! She was gone in a flash. Poor little girl, she's so put out by him! Which reminds me it's time for her to send a note to her loverboy Huck in the Pets forum.

Catch up with y'all in the morning....have a good evening...

Hi There,

Had to interrupt reading to take the bread out of the oven. Let's see if I can get back on track.

Susan is also a good quilter. See pics of hers on that same thread that has Maria's. Sorry, don't have it open at the moment. The link is higher up.

Also Susan, glad the male Cardinal showed up. It's been my experience that if you attract the female, the male isn't usually very far away. Nice that you were able to get pics of them.

Your son and daughter are lovely, FC.

patischell - can't be too lowly if you got a visit from Darius.

We looked at computers a bit. Not quite ready to buy yet. What do the rest of you think about buying name brand over clones?

I know for me, if I buy from a big box store, I wo't buy unless they tell me exactly where I can get LOCAL service on it. We bought a 486 from Staples years ago and when it crashed while under warranty (which it did TWICE), they just told us to call the 1-800 number. We did and were told the wait was about 45 minutes. The second time it crashed I knew where to take it. The third time, it was off warranty and a local person reformatted it for us. BTW, it's run perfectly since that third time. This is the computer that I've used for Food Cupboard back-up and data entry at home.

TTYL.

So what? You all waited until I sat down and then posted while I was whacking on the keyboard? Cute kids, FC, can't wait to see the critters. Nice to see Ginny pop in, and Pati-the-Lurker too. Where have you been, off with Ernie and Robert? They've been missing for a couple of weeks.

I would expect Darius to be just like she is in her posts...too bad I'm so far away, I could use a greenhouse...........LOL

Ann, we buy locally, and go to a computer store that only deals in computers, and they "build" them for us, provide excellent service, and treat us like real people. Brand names from big box stores don't amount to squat if you can't get it fixed when you need to.

Here's Sammi playing with Mini. She doesn't regard it as play. But she can't resist following him around for the next attack. Kittens!!!!

Bye again!

Sheila

Edited because Ann snuck in while I wasn't looking!

Sheila, love that pic! Enjoy it! You may never see another one like it, hehe! Am glad that the kitties are at least managing and hopefully with time they will become somewhat friends then.
Plus sounds like you need that 2 x 4 for your DH with that newly looked at truck. I totally understand that part. You only have so much room for so much stuff, lol.
As for my rear end feeling like a 2x 4, yeah. Only 3 more weeks and I will be done until the grandkids days! Actually can't wait tho I do enjoy going to watch them.
Later, Carol

Hi everyone,
Welcome Flowerchild. I noticed that you posted just after me on yesterday's thread and was afraid that nobody else would notice because it was kind of late. Glad that wasn't the case. It seems I seldom manage to post before time's getting on and by the time I finish typing, GG has already started a new daily.

Susan, you're sounding perkier every day --- way to go! Here's hoping you have another restful night tonight.

D'cat, hope you get over that bug in record time. Stomach viruses are no fun whatsoever.

M5, thanks for the kitty pics. We haven't had a kitten around for quite a while. We may start checking the local shelters soon, but I wanted to get the holidays out of the way before even thinking about bringing in another fur-wrapped bundle of energy.

V-Ann, good for you. "Disappearing" for a week is probably the best thing you could do to help your successor get grounded in his job. Hope you have a great mini-vacation.

Hi to everyone else. I'm afraid I'm just too tired tonight to address everyone individually. Please know I'm thinking of you just the same! Wishing all a peaceful and restful night.

I like it when you start them earlier. I like to mark them so I will be ready for the next day. When you go later, I sometimes can't make it up that long and have to search around in the morning.

Oh poor me, Huh???

Susan
=^..^=

Hi all
Whew ... let a body go missing for *just* one day and LOL there's no catching up with y'all. :)

Dcat, sure hope you wake up feeling better tomorrow. Those bugs are no fun. Sorry I never sent you the soup recipe, but guess you didn't feel like fixing it anyway. :)

Maria, there you go again ... you are so talented. :)

Pati, so glad to see you popping in. Yep, know what you mean about Darius. Isn't she something? She just fits right in. And isn't she interesting to talk to! LOL

Susan, you sure are sounding better. Nice to see you back posting pics and back to yourself again.

Ooooh, Oz I'll take one of those swimming pools. Now don't listen to Kelly. I'm way down south. It should be put down here ... not at her place. LOL

Hi Flower, good to see you back today. See, I told you last night it wouldn't take long before you'd catch on and you're already posting pics. ;) Thanks for sharing.

Okay, I know I haven't said hello to half of y'all but I'm too lazy to go back through all the posts tonight so please forgive me. Everyone has been sharing pics, so here's one of Kota girl at the door when I had the bells hanging up for Christmas. I told her to go ring the bell and the DH caught her. She was real cute about that bell ringing. LOL

Well, back at the computer. I have been on the couch all day. Get up for awhile, think I am feeling better, then after about an hour, back to the couch again. First hot then cold, horrible headache, and tummy ache. I had had a total of 6 crackers today, so was feeling hungry just now and made a grilled cheese. Too early to tell what that is going to do. Hope it settles!! Mr. B has hung right with me. If I am on the couch, he is snuggled right by me, if I am on the computer, right by my feet. Think he knows that I don't feel well. Bless his little heart. Love my fur kid!!

DH wants to use the computer for a minute, so I will be back and finish this.

Hello, defoecat. Sorry you're not feeling better yet, but it is nice to have some company. I have insomnia again and it's been slower tonight than it was last night. Is Mr. B a cat or a dog? I'm assuming cat from your name, but I've been wrong before, so I thought I'd ask.

Hi All,
Tomorrow's daily is up in the Parking Lot.
Here's the link if anyone needs it.

Good Night,
Kelly

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Well we went to dinner at Montereys. There was a long wait to get seated of course, the food was good but I'm not used to eating that much right now, so I havea box of leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
I plan on fixing a pot of beans tomorrow with some left over ham I froze at New Years. Have been wanting that for awhile. Having all these cravings, you would think I was pregnant. ROFLOL

I started having the hot flashes 12 years ago when I was taking chemo. After each chemo treatm, ent, which I always took on a Friday so I could be sick all weekend and go back to work on Monday. (such dedication) I would get the hot flashes. Didn't realize what they were but of course do now.

Then they had me on tamoxifen for 5 years. During that time I had a hot flash every 45 minutes. I started taking a notebook with me and writing down the time. All the other employees knew I would be fanning away before any meeting was over. LOL

I also take primrose oil, I still have the flashes but not as often and generally when I am stressed, kind of like NOW. LOL

I also sleep in my own bed, or I did before the surgery. It is me and six cats. I originally moved because I snored and
DH would end up getting up and going down to the recliner and wasn't getting any rest. So when DD left for college, I took her room and never looked back. LOL

I get cold, bundle up, then cook, throw all the covers off be sure the ceiling fan is on, then cool off bundle up......and so on and so forth. LOL

We went by Walmart after dinner because I wanted to check on some seeds for a DG member and I also wanted somemore bird feeder suet cages. Found a really big one that I am putting out front that hold a huge 'cake' of seeds.

Also was going to get somemore fat free chocolate milk, which I have been getting for years, and the stocker claims they never have had it. That's bull. There is even still a label on the row in the refrigerator that has FF choc milk. They need to get real help I think.

So, we didn't get any needless to say. sheesh

Well, it is getting close to dreaded bed time, I will push it a bit more, but not much. Wish tomorrows thread was up. hint hint

Susan

HA, did I post on top of that. ROFLOL

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, didn't take him long, so I am back.

Meezer, I didn't go to the fish fry, just mixed the batter, DH took it and they fried them there. Said there were a lot of compliments on them. About 30 people at this little Christian Church just down the road.

101, you are right, I have not felt like doing the recipe, but sometime next week if you have time, I sure would love it.

I am feeling selfish, ozarkian, I want your son here first, then when he has finished installing that amazing pool, I will have a pool party and invite all of you. Since some will have to travel a good distance, I will even offer my available beds, and floor space when the beds run out. We will just make a long weekend of it.

Then for the next weekend, I want Darius to stop by and maybe build me a greenhouse!! I think that would be more than a weekend project!!

About computers, I have bought 2 from Gateway. They have a good warranty, and home service contract. They will send service people to work on them if something goes wrong, and they don't take very long to get someone here. Good tech support, and reliable equipment. Had Gateway's at work, and they were good too. Just my experience. Hope you do your research, and are happy with whatever you get. Big chunk of money, so always want to know that I will be satisfied.

DR, will be thinking of your backside tomorrow. Hope that it isn't too "numbing" LOL

Well, my eyes are begining to droop, so I will sign off and see how the night goes. As much as I have dozed today, don't see how I can sleep much tonight, but hope I do.

Good night everyone.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

FC, Mr B. is short for Bruno a 2 year old Jack Russell terrier. He is a laid back Jack, so sweet. Then I have 1 grey part persian house cat. Her name is Boots, and I refer to her as "Miss Boots". She is so aristocratic, is not friendly with anyone but me. Miss Boots is 8, and was an only fur kid, until Mr. B came along. Needless to say, we have a jealousy problem. The only time Miss Boots gets to get in my lap is when Mr. B is outside!! When he comes in, she just jumps down and goes to a bedroom, so she isn't bothered.

Well, I am going to try to go to bed, with as much as I have dozed today, hope I can sleep some tonight.

Good night all. (again)
