Why did I lose my message?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I had an experience yesterday while composing a message for the Coffee and .... thread of carefully replying to posts that others had made. Then I looked at a photo that one person had posted and when I returned to the thread, the message was gone. Poof! Why does this happen?

If you open other pictures and treads during your try to reply the side you have open it will disappere when you hit the backarrow. You have to right click on them and hit the "open in new window" then you can alway go to the side you have started to reply in.
Thats how I do it.

Thanks. I'll try that. Today, I just opened the thread twice and used one to read and move around and the other just to write the message.

That works to, it seems like one always forget one thing or the.............who was it that said what or have I forgotten somebody. If you forget to open two you only have to right click.

From a PC novice.
Janett, You say to "Right click on them and open a new window"
Right click on THEM, what is Them. I found no option to open a new window on anything I right click on.
As you can see, I can't even do "Quotes".

I have to catch myself sometimes doing that, and to make sure I don't back delete my message I will minimize my reply and reopen DG in explorer and look at it in DG there. Yes it is more work, but you won't undo your work that way.

Al, Thanks, I understand that way and it works.

It might not be the fastest or smartest, but it works for me. I hate typing in a long reply and not remember what I was typing about and go back and check and come back to a empty box ;(

In Internet Explorer, click file and new, and window.

In Firefox, you can click file and new window, or you can click on file and new tab to create multiple tabs along the top to have different windows open.

Al, Yea I found it.

If you want to open a Tab button - tread - picture you leftclick on it.............instead rightclick on it and a small menu opens, where you have one of the options "open in new window" this works both with Intenet Explorer and Firfox.
If you have logged in on Firefox it sometimes isnt good to do it in IE to. for some treads you have to log in on both to see the whole tread and it can freeze up your puter. It has at least for me.

You can also copy your reply before you leave that window. That way if you are (for example) researching in the PDB, your journal, a spreadsheet and your Dmail for information if you lose your reply you can just paste it back in. I have gotten lost more than once when researching a complicated topic and was so glad I was able to paste everything back. I think I learned that tip from GW (of course!).

NoH2O, that is exactly what I do everytime I post a reply to anything. I have been getting soooooo many timeouts lately it is really getting frustrating.......so I highlight everything I have typed and then right click on it and hit copy....then I try to send it. If it gets lost, I can paste it back in and try it again.

I have also been know to copy it into my word processor (WordPerfect, in my case) and save a copy.
