Ahhh, Louise I see you got in touch with Clare!! Told you she'd help you out!! Can't wait to hear what you've ordered!!!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

You guys are sweet;-)

Baton Rouge, LA(Zone 8b)

Clare, you are the best! Maybe not for my pocket book though. From your words of encouragement with my 1st pair of plumies, then your post of the Floridacolors site, well, I ordered 5. So like Malestrom, I am excited and anxious. I ordered my original plumies from Stokes Tropicals and they aren't shipping anymore right now due to the dormant season :(. I too chose the grafts, I thought that would be the better choice but now... Clare did I make the right choice or should I have gotten the cutting?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL! Congrats, DiamondD! You made exactly the same choice that I would have. For just a couple of dollars more, you can get a grafted plants with awesome roots attached! I have bought many, many grafts from them, and they end up being strong healthy trees. Now, tell us which ones you chose! LOL! When they arrive, you will want to pot them in one-gallon black plastic containers with good draining potting soil and keep them warm with some added light. If you have a heat mat to set them on, that will help the roots adjust more quickly to the new environment. You can also put them outside during the day and bring them in at night.

Baton Rouge, LA(Zone 8b)

Hmmm, my list is on my desk, let's see if my memory serves: the dwarf singapore pink, dwarf singapore white, hurricane, keywest red, and dwarf decidious. That should be good companions with my current Plastic Pink and Celedine. I've have great plans for their arrival. I do have a heat mat on order, hopefully should arrive anyday. I've set up my storage room with grow lights, and a heat light. I'm also happy to report that I purchased some Frangi seeds from Banana Tree and one has sprouted. I tried 2 different techniques, one in a closed plastic container and that is the one that sprouted and the others in open containers. I've since put some of the open containers in zip lock bags to try that way. If we make it through the winter, I'm on the road ... maybe. The weather isn't too great here right now, high winds, cloudy days. I decided to move them in last week since the nights were getting cold and the days weren't too sunny. And as usual, any comments techniques to want to set me straight on, I'm all ears! or is that eyes?!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

You picked some neat ones! Congrats! I just love my Dwarf Singapore Pink especially. It seems like a great bloomer, and the fragrance is wonderful, and the dark shiny leaves are so nice to look at. Dwarf Deciduous is supposed to have the most wonderful fragrance with large flowers. If you can take a picture of your set-up once your plumies are all in and settled, we would love to see it. It's always nice to see what other people are doing in the wintertime. It sounds very cozy and ideal for the plumies. It's been chilly here too, and I guess fall has arrived. One of the neat things about plumerias, I think, is that they respond well to a variety of seed-germinating and care techniques. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and having fun, and having fun is the name of the game;-)

Bumping this up for Violet.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Clare I could not get their web sight to open ???

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Violet, I went there too today and noticed that. I don't know why the site is down, but you can call them with your order if you wish at 1-800-527-8308. Carol will probably answer the phone, and she is a living doll and will help you. She may tell you that they are through shipping this year because of winter, but because you are in the same warm state, she may ship to you anyway.

HI Clare, this is Maureen (Irish_rose_grower on GW). How are you? You were kind and helped with with my first 2 cuttings last year. I was also on Yahoo for a short time until the bullys ticked me off :-) Anyway, I was reading the list of what you bought and wanted to go to florida colors website but have not been able to get on their site. Do you know if they are experiencing a problem? Also, can I order the catalog you have from them?

Thanks
Maureen

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Maureen, I'm doing great! Thanks for asking! I'm glad I could help with your first two cuttings last year.

Yes, their web site is currently being updated. Carol just posted today on the Florida Plumeria Society group list and said she was sorry for the inconvenience. The catalog is really just a six-page paper list that is posted above. You can call Carol and make sure that you get mailed one next year when the new 2007 list comes out, but I'm sure that I will post it again here like I posted the 2006 one.

Sorry, Clare, I missed your post of the 5th. I actually subscribed back in October but things have been kind of hectic around here so I haven't been here much.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

It's good to see you here, Rosemary!

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

You know looking at other forums and other watchdog sites it appears that there are only 3 places left in florida that i know of in which you can buy a plumie and get what you pay for or better!!!
1)Brad's site.
2)Luc's site.
3)Angus site.

The horror stories i been reading all week is truely sad..
Buyers beware ask Clare,Mike, and others before you do..
Don't let the pretty pictures suck you in!!
:)

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Robert, you are sure right about that. Do I have Angus's site? Robert, do you have a link for that one?

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Was wondering who that was???

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Robert! Good to know. He's on our eBay trusted sellers list. I knew I had seen his name before.

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

Don't know why but the forum doesn't like that link from ebay remove the space between his name plumeria_guy so it looks like this: plumeriaguy
