Ha! I win! LOL Doesn't take much to make me happy...just be the first poster.Don't even have anything to say! DH left about 4:30 am to meet his ride share to Chicago and I went right back to sleep. Sometime earlier I felt Souky creep under the covers with me but she was gone when I woke up.

Whenever I have a question about medical, I ask my DIL, she does both transcription and billing and is a gold mine of knowledge, she is probably one of the smartest people I know. And, yet, as I tell her, she married my DS..... and loves her mother-in-law! Go figure!

I need to get in the shower and wake up! TTYL when somebody else gets here.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good Morning- took two OTC allergy pills and slept like the living dead....slept so hard that I feel tired this morning! How can that be???

Another of DH stupid brothers called at 10pm to wish us a happy new year - he is another one going loopy. He's the one that sent us a sympathy card for Christmas! Strange....

Mary - son that owes - budgets right down to the penny....he actually does a very good job doing it, but IMHO, just buys too much. He told me he is spending his money while he is alive on things he enjoys and not saving. That is what I worry about. But I've told him how I feel, and now just have to set back. DIL is a spender, but DS keeps her on a short rope in that area. He's such a wonderful son...if only he would listen to his mom!!!

They are still forecasting a nasty storm rolling in tonight - it is supposed to be a quicky tho - dump a ton and move on.

McCool - this is what DH did. He drilled a hole in the frame above the door on the right side and into the door top. When the door closes, we stick a long (4 or 5 in) bolt in the hole. It completely closes the door and it cannot blow open. Really works slick. Now I am not sure if I mean the R or the L side, but it is so you put the bolt in to hold it closed on the backside of the door - now have I confused you? LOL

I went thru my garden catalogs last night and have decided to order from Pinetree gardens - they have the most reasonable prices and don't send a zillion seeds. Gonna take care of the order today!! Also went thru the hundreds of seeds that I have and am going to pitch the majority of them - some are from the year 2000 and I don't think the germination rate will be good enough for me to fuss with!

Vi - soups sounds yummy - maybe I will make some for today. The cranberry/orange scones are a hooo humm recipe - I keep eating them trying to decide if I love them or not. They need a tab more sugar I think! DH tried one and he said they were OK, but not wonderful. He's not a biscuit eater, so I didn't think he would like them at all.

Well, need to hit the shower - crazy to shower before you work out!! But my hair is a narley mess....

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Just a quick good morning to all. Today is a work day and I've got to get going. Hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning.

Awakened feeling lousy... headache, dizziness, nauseated. I'm pretty sure it's a reaction to all the sun I've been in lately. My strawberry blonde complexion has always been photosensitive and I've had sun poisoning several times. Not in the years of living in the mountains, though.

At least I won't have to go to my sister's and on to Miami for the weekend.

Gee, darius,....you're not pregnant, are you???? That's the way I used to feel..........LOL

Oh weeeee - Darius expecting??? LOL Use any excuse you can not to visit the relatives!! Curl up in bed and rest - watch tv- cruise the internet- pamper yourself....you deserve it!

Y'all are TOO FUNNY! : )

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Hi all, been busy around here.
Have read all about what you guys are up too.

Sarv, just a suggestion, but if you only more or less have itchy and eye problems for allergies, have you ever tried the eye drop stuff? It helps me a great deal on that.

McCool, am sorry to hear about your greenhouse blowing away. I went thru that a month ago and ended up getting one to replace it. I was going to suggest for tying up around the bases is those plastic pull thru ties (looked at the package and it says they are called cable ties). Like Sarv says, keep that door close and try that special lock she did. Wind can be so nasty to things.

Am heading to work and then up to Portland, OR to another wrestling tournament later today. Am spending the nite at my old college roommate's place tonight since I have to get up and head to the tourna. again in the morning and isn't worth driving home again.
We may go out to eat which I haven't done in a long time since have no money. But want to splurge in the big city for once.

M5 & Mary, your new kitties sound so nice and crazy. Enjoy them. You guys make me want another one!

Later all,
Carol (DR)(the even one)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

|Been up for ages, but slept later than usual. The arm did fine last night. I think it was all the work I did on Wednesday. I decided that I was straightening the house, and doing laundry today, and nothing else. DGD will be here this afternoon for the weekend, so not much use cleaning, just straightening. I had thought I would be back to DM's and work there, but my heart is just not in it today. DH has gone to the chiro, and should be home soon.

I have read everyone's posts, but won't comment, as I am on a short break. I will be back when I finish vacuuming, and comment then.

Good morning to Everyone, hope you have a good day.

Hi All,

Just having a quick lunch and wanted to pop in.

M5,
LOL,,,it's the little things,,,,,

sarv,
That's one interesting family,,,,,keep you guessing,,,LOL Have you checked out valueseeds.com http://www.valueseeds.com/ have some great prices on seeds.

Darius,
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well,,,hope it goes away soon. That sun will get to a person,,,stay inside and veg today. You certainly deserve it! On the upside,,,you don't have to go to the relatives,,,lol,,,,

dr,
Have fun! Hope the tournament goes well for your son.

Hi Ann and dcat.

Hi to everyone else when you check in.

Well, gonna go check some other threads. See ya later.

Kelly

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello again everyone. LOL at Darius, timing is very important. They'll never know how badly you "really" wanted to see them! I hope the queezys don't use up all of a perfectly good day.

My kitty who got shots yesterday is feeling sleepy, but she has also been throwing up and not eating. I can't tell if she is drinking any water. Probably I should call the vet and see if I should be concerned. She's real sweet when she is in slow motion. A while ago I was sitting on the couch reading and she got up on the back of it and sorta leaned on my shoulder, purred herself to sleep. So sweet when she is asleep, just like kids.

When I was in town yesterday I noticed that the gas prices are up again, about a nickel from their lowest point which was $2.23. I heard that the price of a barrel of crude is over $60 now. You could say that we are being taken for a ride and having to pay for it too.

DR, I hope you have fun at the tournament and visiting with your college roommate.

Sarv, he needs to listen to Mom! I wouldn't want to live with debt hanging over me all the time. We have our house paid for and only one car payment, the rest is just the month to month stuff like electric. It's nice to pay as we go and not owe everybody for everything. If we charge anything on the credit card it is paid in full when the bill comes. We don't use it a lot.

Today is cold and windy. I can hear the wind, sort of a constant background noise. When I did my horse feeding this morning I was quite cold by the time I came back into the house. It's a good day to stay inside. Ok, it's time to put the bread pudding together, a good way to use up the milk that is just on the verge of going sour. It will be done in about an hour.

Nothing being done today on the building... apparently Jeremy is taking a day off and there's not much I can do without some "muscle". I have picked up trash that had blown over the yard, and watered the onions. Molly will be home late this afternoon so I suspect much will get done Saturday and Sunday.

I just need to wear my wide-brimmed garden hat and stay out of the sun when I can!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

MaryE, our gas prices have been up ever since the new year. But we see changes of anywhere from 10 - 15 cents a LITRE. I've always said that Americans would not stand for such variation because it would mean a price spread within a week of 40 - 60 cents a gallon or more.

Darius, take care and stay out of the sun. Sounds like it's time you took a bit of a rest.

Ann

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Yipee! only an hour left and it will be the weekend. I have a "to do" list and hope to get lots done. DH is on call with the tow trucks this weekend, so I should get some time alone. It's so much easier to clean with no one around to bother me.

Gas here is at 2.25. last weekend it was 2.23

Mary - Amanda is sooo cute!

Darius - Be careful working outside. Wear that hat and drink lots of water.

Sarv - the Dr. had me try Flo-nase (sp) for the drippy stuff in my throat. I didn't think it worked. Have you ever tried that? I have to be careful with antihistimines as they seem to bring on the nasty panic attacks.

DR - Have fun at the wrestling meet!

Defoe - Glad the arm is doing better today!

Parents are leaving tomorrow for FL. First trip out with the new BIG camper. I'll be glad when they get there and call to say everything is ok.

Gotta go for now. Sorry if I missed anybody!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Speaking of gas prices - ours went to 2.47! Always just in time for the weekend it seems!! I have 3/4 tank, so I'll be set until they drop next week.

Just ordered my seeds from Pinetree- first time using them. Had an ok rating, so I felt comfortable. We usually buy our seeds from the local place, but somehow they are always sold out of what I want.

It's been a dark and dreary, but not freezing cold day. Stinking weather still on course to come tonight.

Nothing yummy planned for dinner (I think carry out pizza sounds good!!) DH usually wants to eat at home tho. Since he's been home, he's had cheese/crackers, orange and a yogurt granola bar. I told him he had already eaten enough calories to take place of dinner!! He just smiles....

I haven't done anything worth while today - just usual general pick up stuff (seems like that's about all I can get done in a day!) Did wander around Meijers (big grocery store) and Target. Just picked up fresh veggies and a birthday card.

Heavy snow warning just came on the TV - more than in inch an hour - oh glory - here we go!!!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

suz - never tried flonase - but I do have xanax for anxiety (going to the dentist mainly!!) and I went on line and read awful stuff about that!!! It does work for me, but it sounds terribly addictive (and I DON"T need that!!) - I seldom take it, but do when I get overwhelmed....which isn't often.

I still have the box of claritin d - just haven't dared to use it now!! I am a real whimp....

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Sarv I am full of the ripping people off with gas. It bounces around here like crazy. This is a resort area and full of summer homes. I am about stumfounded in what these people pay for gas for there boats. Lot of them are young too. Have a dentist has a summer home 3 doors down has 2 -42 ft boats one a cruiser he cannot handle and it sits in the dock all the time. The other is a 42 ft cigarette boat with 3 engines. Those two boats cost close to 1 1/2 million buck. When he is out here and they are using the cigarette boat he burns 80 gals of fuel a hour on average. And about 500 gals a day. On the lake they are paying over $3 a gallon. Ever wonder why people have so many tiny cavities.

Yeah, now isn't that the truth, OZ. Just made a payment on someone's BMW yesterday. *smile*

Sarv, your weather sounds really yucky. We had tempts in the low 70's again today. I know it will do just like it always does, though ... fool everything into budding early and then bang ... we'll have a freeze. Happens most every year.

Darius, hope you start feeling better real soon. My Mom *was* a strawberry blond and has always had to worry about that. When we went to the beach as kids, she'd have to stay in the room a lot. She never liked the beach.

Ann, you ought to be a lady of leasure real soon, won't you? hehehe My parents say now that they are retired they don't have time for anything. From everything you talk about, I'm sure that's the way it will be for you, too.

Mary, so sorry to hear about kitty. At least she's being a sweetheart right now. LOL Oooh, so cute to curl up like that. Wish I could send you some warm weather to do your chores in. That *really* sounds miserable.

Suzie, know how you feel about having time to clean. When the DH has time off, it always seems my schedule goes out the door. I *love* having him here, but just don't get things accomplished like I usually do.

Hap, when do you start back to work?

What about Susan? Has anyone seen her post? I guess I need to go over to the pet forum. I think she frequents there. I don't usually hang out over there, but will go check. :)

Meezers, how's the little hellion doing? Still terrorizing Souky? Is he feeling better or still milking the situation? LOL LOL At least I *hope* that's all it was.

Have been busy today. Hope everyone has had a good one. Well, got to go back to the kitchen. Hi to all I've missed.
... Elaine

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

oz - my dentist is married to another dentist!! Talk about big bucks!! He is always saying 'this filling needs replacing - it is deteriorating" - I say sure- when it falls out you can put a new one in, but not until!! He does a cancer check in my mouth - says move your tongue to the left, now to the right. That will be 65 bucks!

I have a BIL that collects wooden boats- has 15 that I know of (he often won't tell how many he has) He retired at 48 and spends his days cruising or refinishing his boats. Somehow this all don't seem fair....whaaaa

Weatherman was actually right on - said it would start snowing at 7pm and I peeked out the window and it is coming down - hard!! This would be ok it if was Dec, but I am sick of it already.

Time for a bowl of ice cream

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

IO1, unlike most strawberry blondes, I love the beach. It's the aftermath (sun poisoning) that I don't like. Sigh.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

My dentist when I was a child and through high school was married to an orthodontist. She tried her best to get me to go into dentistry. I should have listened. LOL

Gas prices - I think I'm doing well if I pay about 84 cents per litre (well that's the posted price. Add on 11 cents per litre because my german car wants high test. Gas will reach that price only a couple of days a week. The rest of the time it will be around 90 -95 cents per litre. Assuming that the Canadian $ is worth 85 cents US, that works out to about $3.95 US per gallon (when I can find it at 84 cents a litre). and Canadian prices are about half of what Europeans pay. You in the US have it pretty good.

Elaine, I've got one more week before retirement. Will continue to volunteer, but I think I'm going to distance myself for a week or so.
After the Board meeting on Wednesday, I cam home and spent an unplanned 1 3/4 hr entering the client data from Monday and Wednesday into my computer so that I could get the files back to my successor early yesterday (before aquafit) so that he could enter them at the FC on the computer there. The idea was for him to enter them for practice and I would have the back-up files and we could compare the report he produced. Do you think he did them? NO!!!!! Not quite sure what he did, but it wasn't the practical and important daily grunt work of dealing with the files. In the end, my entries got copied onto the computer at the FC because a volunteer came in at noon today to do the second stage of data entry. Maybe I should use that 2 x 4 on him!

Have a rehearsal with the other orchestra on Sunday. I've missed two rehearsals with them because of conflicts with the OSO. So I think I should go have a look at Beethoven's 8th. It's one of the few Beethoven Symphonies I've never played.

Hi All,
Tomorrow's daily is up in the Parking Lot
Here's the link if anyone needs it.

Nity Nite,
Kelly

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Hello everybody, I said I would be back after cleaning, but that didn't happen.

Meezer, the first to post this morning, yeah. Hope Souki and Sammi and working on a "truce" and become good friends.

Sarvm slept like the living dead, how great. I know that tired feeling, mom always says, you just slept too hard. BIL sounds like he has a weird sense of humor, or is looney one or the other. Wonderful son, but see if you can convince him to save some $$ for retirement. Get everything paid for and sit back and not worry about bills. Those scones sound so very good. Did ya save me one?

VA, hope your day was a good one. Yeah, take that 2x4 to your replacement. When you retire, just cool your heels, and let him take the blame for things not getting done.

Darius, sorry hat you aren't feeling well. Stay out of that sun, or cover up at least. I chuckled at Haps comment, was it immaculate conception? Any old excuse to get out of visiting relatives. Hope you and Jeremy had a good day, Molly will be cracking that whip when she gets back!!

DR, hope you have a good trip to wrestling matches, and fun visiting your college friend. Splurge, you can eat noodles next week!! Hope your son does well.

GG. Hi!, I have ordered from valueseeds, and they were cheap, prompt with shipping, but the packages are so small. I haven't opened any, just judging from the package. Sure hope there are more seeds in them than I think.

Mary, I shivered when I read about your cold weather. Hope you stayed in and kept warm. Awww, Amanda Panda, purring herself to sleep, leaning on your shoulder. Enjoy the sleeping, soon she will be back at full tilt. And about debt. Everything we have is paid for. We deliberately saved so that we could build a house, buy a car, and now we don't have to worry about anything, except paying the utilities every month, and groceries. I would rather do without early in life, and be able to enjoy retirement with no worries. Bread pudding sounds good. My son makes a mean one, with a sauce with a hint of bourbon.

Susieq, hurrah, get to clean without DH around. I sometimes can prod mine into helping, (running the sweeper is his speciality) that's okay by me. And other times, have to clean around him. just seems oblivious that there is dirt around him!! Selective eye sight in addition to selective hearing. On your parents, hope they have a good trip. I think that we have moved into the "parenting the parents" phase of life.

Oz, sounds like the dentists are filling teeth and pockets at the same time. Probably schedule every 15 minutes right before the weather turns good!!. More patients, more money, more gas, more fun!!

101, hope you had a good day. Your weather sounds really wonderful. Ours was sunny and high about 50. We are supposed to have rain tonight and tomorrow. The other night we had 3 inches of snow, and it was gone by noon the following day. Weird weird weather. Hope the summer is better than last summer, hot and dry. I am going to fix the Beef Burgundy this week, thanks for the recipe. My twin sister will be here again on Tuesday night, so will fix it then. Am planning a breakfast casserole for the next morning.

Well, DH went back to the chiro this morning. He is moving better, but I can tell that he is still in pain. He hasn't complained too much, but the grunts and groans when he gets up from the recliner, although muted, says that it is still sore.

DGD came tonight. Her favorite meal is spaghetti. I had it ready when she got here. Said she was starved, hadn't had anything to eat since 12:00. Kentucky schools have taken vending machines out of the schools, and are trying to promote healthier eating by offering fruit instead. Of course this "stinks" They want the cokes and chips.

Well, I am off to check other forums, will be back before hitting the hay.

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Sarv, just hafta break silence and say you don't get addicted to zanax by taking it only once in a while when severely stressed. Like dentists. I'm with ya there.

yall just keep on keepin' on - it's what makes the world spin. ;-))

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

When my Dr. put me on Zanex (sp?) he told me I would become dependant on it and if I missed a dose I would go into withdrawals. I have been on it for a few months now 1 1/2 mg 4x per day,,,,if I miss a dose I do Not go through withdrawals,,,, I know I have a high tolerance level with meds,,,so, maybe that's it,,,,sure does make the day less hectic for me though.

Kelly

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

I've been on Xanax .5 mg for 5 years and my Doc isn't worried. My script reads 1-3 daily as needed and 1 at bedtime. I get 120 at a time and I very rarely have to call to him to refill it more than every 3 months or so. In fact I just checked my bottle, I filled it November 17th and there are still a bunch left.

I can go for a week without taking any, but I sleep better if I take the one at bedtime. I have trouble shutting my brain off long enough for me to fall asleep sometimes, lol.

mg

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

That's how my brain was all day. Was terrible,,,couldn't focus on one thing,,,millions of things going on in my mind,,,,,the meds sure have helped.
