Slower than the proverbial 'Molasses in January' this AM

Atascadero, CA(Zone 8a)

Hope it's just because we're being inundated by gazillions of new members, but I fear it's not. Didn't get any updates to my site since last evening and takes 5 minutes for a page to download, if it downloads at all this AM. Usually doesn't. Having DG withdrawals this AM. 8>} Janet

yeah - I've timed out a lot too loading pages - thought it was me.

Culpeper, VA(Zone 7a)

Same thing happening here. I even rebooted my computer twice to see if it would help. Nope.

Shenandoah Valley, VA(Zone 6b)

I've been having problems, too, so I did some of my own checking at this end. I have both satellite and dial-up connections, did some pinging, went remote too, and found that there are definate DG server issues....

I have found numerous problems trying to access this site lately with the typical diagnostic msg. from the HTTP request over the WWW. Since there are so many server problems right now, I'm gonna take a DG-break and check back in a week or so. Between very slow (or unreliable) access or server problems, it's just a waste to continue. I enjoy this site alot but my time is valuable to me.

Catch you guys laterrrrr!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Problems here too. Glad it's not just my computer.

Culpeper, VA(Zone 7a)

Seems to have resolved itself now, but will keep my fingers crossed.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It is still slow for me today, but not as bad as yesterday.

Atascadero, CA(Zone 8a)

LynnCanGrowIt. . .sorry about your problems getting on the site. I'm sure they're temporary. Dave is always right on top of this type of thing. Absolutely no problems here until this issue came up. Still not resolved on my end. TIA Dave for your help.

Atascadero, CA(Zone 8a)

It just got A WHOLE LOT BETTER. YEAH. . ..AH Maybe it's just internet traffic that's extremely heavy this time of the AM w/CA waking up and going on line big time and not the DG server. . .LOL

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Have had problems to and have tried both Firefox and IE and there was not much differens. Another thing is that I in Garedentalk have got the old FORUMS side both with the old way of the forums columns and also with the new lined up forums in in alphabetic order. saying I am in Forums...........strange :0))

PS. hope you get my somewhat nutty description. screenprint( IE) is 15 min old. ds

My nightly backup was continuing to run all the way through the morning, and I'm guessing that it got hung up somewhere half way through. That was what was causing the problem. It should be fixed as of about 30 minutes ago.

Well, it has been hanging quite a lot lately, but this morning DG was simply out, not accessible at all. Most of the time when it is hanging I simply walk away and it works later on just fine. But then, when other thing are perhaps more pressing, it is getting to be a bit of a drag, especially when other sites pop in like a flash.

edited to say - we overlapped.

second edit - it works perfect now.

I gave up a couple of times this AM.
It's been slow for a few days.
Even this afternoon it's slow, a good excuse to do something else, like yard work on this mild winters day.

Slow here too - and lots of timeouts. Argh.

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Took me about 20 minutes now to get here from the Hypertufa forum. it was OK for about an hour before that.

mine is still slow too.

Yes, it was ridiculously overloaded. I'm not really sure what was causing it but I'm checking into it right now.

I was restarting the database when you had that specific problem, Lilypon.

The database restart was to add a new feature that should help the problem from today.

much better in the last few minutes...

Thanks Dave. I've seen so many messages come up in the last couple of days but that was a new one to me.

Working much slicker now. :)

Wow, what several hours working out in the real garden, as opposed to the 'cyber' garden (DG's) will do for ya. Guess gardn'n is good for more than one 'system'. It's buzz'n right along this afternoon, more like what I'm used to. Thanks to ya Dave. Will give it a try early tomorrow AM and see if it's fixed for good.

I cannot upload a photo into plantfiles tonight. I've tried for 20 minutes, and it just times out. I'm thinking that it's the nightly backup running again? Is this the time of night it normally runs?
