Birch trees anyone?

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Sooner or later, there'll be an epidemic of some deer disease or other, and a huge die-off. The question I guess is whether any plants will still be around then.

(psssst . . . anyone want some foot & mouth disease virus?)

Good question.

If anyone is interested, there is a very straight forward article here written by Eric Ness titled "Oh Deer".

Wait wait wait a minute.
I had heard recently that somewhere (my poor fog brain)
they are putting the deers on birth control medicine!
Amazing. I sure hope it works.

My stupid neighbor who doesn't even live here, bought the
22 acre woods next to our farm for a hunting preserve.

They are the type to spend a bazillion dollars putting in
5 acres of clover and 5 acres of alfalfa for the deer. they have
new guns and outfits, blah blah. ONe came to my house and
thought we had a Bobcat in the yard and he wanted to know if
he could shoot it. I looked at him like a moron, because it was
a bobcat....it was my barn cat "Bob the Cat" because his tail
was cut off when he was a little kitty by who knows what.

If I could, I would sit in my chair and shoot the deer from my
back slider door. At least 40 of them every evening gobbling
up the clover.
Oh yes, now we have neighbors dogs (big ones) running the
deer through our back pastures. I did get my gun out for that
one.

Its a problem!!!!

and they taste like poop too.

Quoting:
I'm not sure why you're bringing insurance people into this, we're the one's paying the claims. Do you really think we like to see an out-of-control deer population?

Because insurance executives at the top level have a lot at stake (like all of us) and a lot of clout (unlike most of us). If all affected groups would organize on this issue and apply some political pressure, maybe we could get somewhere.
