I've been spreading the word

I post on four other sites and I've mentioned the expansion going on here at the other sites.

Competition is good! It will force other sites to meet the standards set here at DG.

May I lodge my plea for discretion in this matter?

Just as we frown (BIG frowny face) on people using our forums to tout a competing site, GW has a right to take offense at our members "poaching" (or "cherry picking" or whatever term you want to use) within their forums.

If you have friends you would like to personally invite to come here, that's fine - any friend of yours is a friend of ours ;o)

But please be respectful and remember that a website doesn't exist to serve as a clearinghouse for people posting alternative forums.

I'm only doing invites Terry, and only to my favorite people at that, lol.

BTW, *poke* Dave, will ya? I've been being too subtle in my efforts to get him to make his announcement part of the *news*.

I don't even mention DG by name. I mention the expansion, that's all. I just refer to DG as "another site I frequent."

RWhiz, I appreciate that.

I just wanted to get a word in edgewise before people mistook our silence for sanctioning actions that would violate another website's terms of service.

And we *do* want and need our members help to spread word about these new (and FREE) forums - but we want to be sure do it the right way ;o)

Oh shoot! I just ran naked down the street with a sign yelling "check out the new free forums at Dave's Garden. I didn't see this first. :O

Well, I don't visit GW much anymore, but there IS a new post over on their "Suggestions & Comments" forum announcing the new format here, along with some comments.

I've found that a direct, polite request works much better than subtlety, hinting, and especially hitting(!) when dealing with Dave.

Took me a while to catch on, so I thought I'd spare you some time and let you in one one of my secrets :)

I guess I'm just used to having to *poke* at my dh to get him to do what needs to be done, lol. I have to make him think it was his idea in the first place, or it doesn't happen.

Maybe we should add a "Spouses or Significant Others " Forum too and trade secrets!

I did run over and look at the "other" mentioned above. What a mess! I am glad I pulled up my roots "there" and decided to garden in nicer soil!

I think I missed out on this during my "non-subscriber" time... I'm a little lost as to what (beyond asthetics) has changed..... hmm... time to go investigate! :)
