Susan, I'll be thinking of you with your surgery tomorrow. I know your recovery won't be a piece of cake, but hope it's not too bad and that your shoulder problems will be improved.
I've read all the postings and all the rest of you I hope you don't get upset that I'm not replying directly. Just back for a short time after taking the kids to Kindermusik and don't have long before I have to head out to bell choir.
I'll try to catch up later.

Coffee and...For Thursday, January 12, 2006
Susan,
My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow also. Don't sweat what you can't get done. It'll wait. Hope DH knows how to post on DG so we can get an update ASAP????
BTW, John is gorgeous.
Kelly
Thinkong and wishing you the best, Susan
ozarkian, sounds like some cruise. LOL I got hold of some horseradish like that one time at a seafood restaurant when I ordered boiled shrimp. Now I always use it in coctail sauce, but I think this was the pure stuff. I absolutely couldn't breathe!
Susan, wish I was close enough to help out. Try to relax and get a good night's rest. Don't forget to be in a good frame of mind. And know we're all here rooting for you. :)
I've just put on a fresh pot of coffee. Help yourself if you've a mind. Am helping myself to a piece of that banana bread, Darius. Will check back later.
... Elaine
Susan, prayers for you tomorrow. Let us know how you are.
Oz,....that was FRESH horseradish, a whole nudder animal from the bottled kind. The root is peeled and then grated and it is hotter than Firehouse Chili. But, DANG, it's good; I love it. Makes you know you're alive...hehehe And I agree, cruising is the only was to go. My DH and I have been cruising regularly for over 20 years.....same ol' Caribbean, but the ships are only 30 minutes from our front door. Now is that convenient or what? Our favorite lines is the Holland America. It's mainly older critters like us and not the young whippersnappers that make noise....
Hap
SUSAN Geeeeeeeeeeez you do not eat the fish. My god are you going to scream when i tell you I am going to clean a 8lb blue catfish and we will EAT HIM.
Nope, I love catfish, just not MINE. LOL My father was a fisherman and I grew up on fish and fishing.
Nothing better than a fresh fish fry.
Now if you kept a PET fish and fed him and talked to him, I might get upset if you then ate him. ROFLOL But I'm sure you wouldn't tell me about it if you did that. You are too nice a guy to do that to MEEEE.
Have fun with your daughter. I wish my daughter had gotten to come down from Indiana for Christmas. I haven't seen her since May.
Kelly, I don't know what DH is going to do about posting. He says he can't do it. For goodness sake, he used to be a systems analyst and did nothing but computing. Just hasn't really worked with the internet much, that's my baliwick. LOL We'll figure something out, Debbie may post something if I can get her an update and my daughter said she will do it for sure. But my daughter has to teach in the afternoon and it will be later in the evening before she can get to it. DH says I will probably just come back here and do it myself. right......
Susan
=^..^=
Saying prayers for you, Susan.
Jody
Now everybody read the above very carefully. Since I have a question. SUSAN just what language do you speak to a fish????? Is there a dialect difference between a blue catfish and a flathead catfish? Do you stick you head in the water when you talk to them??? One of these days mark my words your going to come home and the kitties and doggies will have moved into the house and you will be put out on the porch.
9 Kitty - you know we will all be keeping you in our prayers tonight- it will be over before you know it - but tell DH he must let us know how you are doing.
Just how many Sue/Susan are there on here anyhow? I am one.....
Went out with 5 gals for lunch, there was: Suzanne, Sue, Sue, Sue, and Mary. Must be a popular name!! LOL When I was teaching, there were 3 Sue's in the same small hall -everyone called us by our last names. At the work out joint, the two owners were both named Sue and they have a wall with 12 exercises - and put a pic of different Sue's doing the exercises. It is a hoot!!
Went to Little Caesar's for a $5 pizza tonight. Wasn't the best, but tasted better than me fixing something!! Have some leftovers for breakfast tomorrow (if DH doesn't take it for his lunch!!)
Well temps got up to 53 and sun today. Tomorrow is back to the rain, gloom, and snow coming tomorrow night. I'm not exercising tomorrow, so I may just spend the day in my jammies...
Back to tonight's crossword....
Well, I just woke up a bit ago, fell into bed after DR appt. Nothing showed up on the MRI, so DR sent me to CAT scan. The girl doing the CT is a friend of my mom's and mom was in the booth with her as I was getting the scan. She told mom there is definately an "abnormality" on my scapula, and the DR wanted me to wait and see him again after the scan was read, and see him again. I had to get home to get the little one from school, and my mom had to get the groceries home so we couldn't wait. They told me they would call, but I haven't heard anything :( I have therapy tomorrow AM, so I'm gonna call first thing and find out what is going on. I need to take more medicine, but would like to be semi-coherent when Jeff gets home from work.
The good news is that Jeff's W-2s were in todays paycheck, so we can go to H&R Block tomorrow or Saturday and have cash in our hands that day :) That means I can catch my rent up, and not get kicked out of my house :) WOO HOO We are going to pay everything like a month in advance, even if it means no money left over for us to play (except I get dinner and a movie out Jeff just doesn't know that yet LOL) I wanna go to a steakhouse and to see the new Quentin Terrintino moveie "Hostel". Probably give me nightmares but oh well LOL
Wasn't a bad day with my mom I guess...... I found out that I have (by marriage) a new little sister, my step dad's baby with his "ex" girlfriend was born on Dec 20th. So far the mom hasn't contacted him. I hope she takes him to court and just tears him up on child support. i still can't believe my mom is still with that creep :( Oh well, its her life.
Hope all are doing well, Susan, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow :) Not sure what I'm gonna do tomorrow yet, still trying to convince someone to help me plant these stupid tulip and daff bulbs LOL But I'll check in
Hugs to all
Janis
Hi everyone. Back to winter here, our nice day got very windy and brought us snow again. I can hear the wind blowing from inside the house.
Susan, you'll be in my prayers. I bet you will figure out a way to check in and let us know how you are.
One of my gardening neighbors came over today and we sat there drinking tea, eating cookies she brought and drooling over beautiful flowers and a few tasty looking vegetables. She raises a few vegies but mostly flowers. We are going to buy seeds together for some things since neither of us needs full packets of things that have 200 seeds.
Dinner tonight is halibut my hubby caught when he went to visit our son who lives in Alaska. He also brought home salmon. We had some of that last week. I'd better get busy with dinner, hubby will be home in a few minutes.
See you later.
Janis - I would like to think that no news from the Dr. means good news, but I don't trust them. I hope you've heard by now. And I hope that if some abnormality shows up it can be treated easily. Good luck with your therapy.
How long has your mother been married to this husband? And he has a newborn with someone else? Sounds like he gets around.
Sarv - I remember 3 Sue's in my 6th grade class. I think we called them Sue, Suzie and Susan to keep them straight. One year in my bell choir there was Ann (me), Anne, Annie and Angela - out of 12 people.
Maria - thank you for reminding us how fortunate we are to have plenty and how awful the war conditions are/were for people. Most of us in North America have not experienced war first hand and can only imagine what it was like. We need people like you to remind us once in awhile.
All the talk about food above... glad Darius got out her baking pans. Sorry about the flour.
I've just about eaten up the leftovers from the party except the broccoli. Anyone know how long it should be blanched if I were to freeze it? So long that it will be soggy when I use it? I obviously cut up way more than I needed for the party OR more me. I guess I forgot that DH wouldn't be around to help me eat it. But everything else that was left - meatballs, shrimp, spinach dip, hummous, much of the cheese, and the carrots, cauliflower, peppers have kept me eating all week. I've eaten a few too many of the sweets too, but will freeze the rest.
I think I'll sign off early. Have to go practice and then will probably get to bed a bit earlier than the last couple of nights. I tend to be a nightowl when DH is away.
Good night all. Hope you all sleep better than last night.
Ann
IOU you know you can do some great things just knowing how to knit and purl. If nothing else you can make a whole collection of scarves for your friends , family whoever, using some of the fancy yarns. Last year I taught a knitting class at my church ,we had a bazar later that fall , so all the women that I taugh made scarves for the bazar, using just fancy yarns . we were selling them $25 a piece we sold about 30 scarves plus we had special order on top of that.... you see very simple...
orchidfancy, many years ago I made a pretty little Christmas bell lapel pen for my Mama, and she still wears it to this day. I made it when I was a young girl. I haven't done anything like that in a long time. I like doing things with my hands. I also like to do macrame. .
Ann, I'm sure Darius can tell you exactly how to do your broccoli. As for me, I bring my water to a boil, drop it in and bring it just to a boil again. Then I rinse in a cold water bath to stop the cooking process. I don't time mine.
Well, I played in the dirt some today. The weather has been gorgeous here the past few days. I know it's not going to last, but it sure has been nice. I've washed some of my containers and am getting them ready for some of my flower seeds. I know it's still too early to plant, so I'm trying to be patient. :)
Has anyone seen Defoe around lately? Have been thinking about her MIL and wondering if she's out of the hospital yet. We've had so many sick people.
Ann, I've forgotten to ask about your DH. I hope things are going okay for him and he's been able to make the necessary decisions for treatment.
Well, it seems like I should be commenting on more, but I'm tired tonight. Have done a bit of exploring on extra sites and done some interesting reading. Think I'll sign off and read some more.
Hugs to all ... elaine
The new daily is up in the Parking Lot.

Nity Nite All,
Kelly
Tomorrow DH and I are taking a group of ten to Iowa for a youth group event. We have a twelve passenger van, and it was working out great with ten going we would have room for luggage.
Last night I had a dream that I was driving to town when smoke started rolling out from under the hood of the van. I had to pull over and then I woke up. I had a feeling I should call AAA and check out roadside service prices. I forgot to call AAA, but the van didn't forget to break down. Seems we have problems with our radiator. Hopefully, we will be able to get it fixed in the morning and go ahead with our plans.
Elaine - I'm on a one-woman-mission to bring back macrame! Want to join me?

When macrame started to decline I would pickup books at resale shops, etc. I have several here somewhere. You really don't need patterns books, if you know how to do the knots and I'm sure I have a book or two with that info!
Jody
I have the knots stored in my brain. LOL LOL I just need the good jute. (can't spell) Can't find that *really* good stuff like we use to use. Now it's real flemsy when you can find it. I use to find real pretty figurines to put on my hangers and made them for the church bazaar. They sold like hot cakes. Oh well, those were the good ole days. hehehe
