Good morning to everyone from the wrong side of the day. I'm not usually online at this time of night but figured I'd better check in and let Casey know I was still alive. LOL

I'm in a bit of a fog. I read yesterday's (today's) thread and don't remember a thing about it.

Hope everyone is ok...

~julie~

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Julie - sorry you're "foggy." I'm just about to head to bed, and it's about time you do the same. Haven't had enough time to keep up with the thread again, so I can't fill you in, either.

Take care, everyone!

Morning everyone - I could not get comfortable and then the old mind started working over time. At one point during the night, I sat up in a panic - remembering that I have to make reservations for our big camping group tomorrow- I thought I still had a week before I had to do it!! It involves calling and redialing and redialing over and over until you get a human. Then trying to find campsites for everyones big trailers - the only good part of it is since am the calling person, I get to choose MY camping lot first!! Wish my luck, I am in a tizzy until it is all done.

Back to the huff/puff today after a short vacation (meaning other plans got in the way!) My back, shoulder, arm and head are all hurting today. We are having a weather change, so that may be part of it or else it is just more old age hitting. Temps are supposed to be in the mid 40's today - heat wave!!

Not much more of news today - in fact I feel like I am in the midst of the 'blaahs' - life seems so boring right now (probably my usual January funk showing up)

Big news item - golf courses will be open today!! LOL I don't even like golf...

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning all. Slept a grand total of 3 hours last night :(( I really, really hope to get some answers today. Just got a phone call from Bubby's preschool there is no bus today the driver has the flu :(( This is going to be interesting. If I can get him there before 10 AM we are ok, but if not, then I'll have to take him with me to my physical therapy and to the DR. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My mom (here is a shock) agreed to take me to the DR toady... but I pretty much had to guilt trip her into it. I also have to see if my PT can be moved, so she can fit me into "her"schedule Kinda makes me angry, but it is things like this that make me remember that even though she is my mom, I don't have to like her all the time. Her schedule for today includes taking her cheating husbands mother to the grocery store, and babysitting my sisters twins. She was supposed to bring DeWaynes bed down this afternoon, but can't do that now. Poor kid has been sleeping on the couch for 4 or 5 weeks now.

Ok, off to get more coffee and into chat for a bit, hugs to all

Janis

Good morning everyone , it seems like we had some night owls because of lack of sleep. I was awake a 4AM , but I waited for my husband to have the coffee ready and the newspaper before going downstairs.
Today it is a beautiful day we are supposed to have 60 degrees temperature but I will be working inside on my projects, (the chairs) plus it rained quite heavyly last night so the leaves in the back yard are going to be on hold for another day. My friend Monique just called me and will be coming and have tea with me this morning , this will be a nice break.
It is quiet right now the dog has gone back to bed and is not ready to bark at the squirrels , I am sure that they are glad of that. and so am I.....
I have started a knitter treat if anyone is interested it is under needlecraft and I am sure that some of us gardeners are knitters too. Today I will take apicture,of the cat's knitted mice and put them online so you can see them they are made out of mohair, wool whatever I have as leftover and the cat seems to like natural fibers better than acrylics .
I hope that you all have a great day now is time for me to get on with work... and have a cup of tea... breakfast time......yeehhhhhhhhhhhhh

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Good morning all! Wondered how long it would take Darius to dig out her baking pans and get going with the oven!! I'll have some of that banana bread, with a dab of butter.....

Orchid, I fully agree with adding choc. chips...they have multiple uses, a couple of months back I made rice pudding and didn't have any raisins, so I threw in the chips....never ever using raisins again!! Warm rice pudding with gooey chocolate chips, mmmmmmmm Your pets look so cozy tucked in like that! We don't spoil our pets. ( hahahahaha)

Carat, the laundry monster never goes away, it just hides temporarily until you aren't looking and then fills the hamper with things you are sure you didn't wear. DH does his own, and I still find mounds of things to be washed. He doesn't do sheets, towels, duvet cover, etc. so it only reduces the monster by couple of loads. Speaking of curtains....ewwww. I need to replace my dinette's after five years, they aren't looking so good. I need at least 90" in length so I made these with 12 foot scarves I got at a good price, cut them up and used cafe clips to hang them. But, each time I wash them they shrink a little more, some kind of cheap Indian cotton I think, so they look a little sad. Also a bear to iron. Can anyone say Poly????

Dcat, sad to go out for lunch and get bad food! I don't tolerate that, I would have sent it back ...onions in chicken salad? They don't even belong in chicken salad, and I love onions! And you have a little vacation from wifely-ness! DH doesn't travel for his job any more, I used to look forward to several days alone if he was off to India, or Hongkong or whereever. If he went to the UK or France, (and once, Australia) I'd go along....but I did enjoy a little solitude... Good luck with the root canal. Did that a couple times, and for me it was mostly the long process and return visits that annoyed me.

Sarv, you know what they say about a diaper left in your house??? LOL Thanks for the fake potato explanation, ugh, I don't use them either. In fact, I've bought the refrigerated or frozen ones at the store and don't much like those either. I wouldn't complain about them to your DH though, he might stop cooking!

Ooooh I am so envious of those who have other cooks in the house.....I'm so sick of cooking, thinking of what to make, fixing it, cleaning up after bleahhhhhh!!! DH must have lived on pizza before we got together, because he can't (or won't) make a thing. Even when I've come home after surgery, he'll go to the cupboard and grab chips or crackers or whatever for himself ....never mind that I've not eaten..!!

MaryE, I have a whole new assortment of scratches too. Sammi thinks the shortest distance between two points is up my leg, or arm or whatever and those little claws are lethal! I'm going to try a little manicure when he falls asleep but I'm not sure it will do much good. He's a ball of fluff with needles attached! Souky almost played with him last night.....it was one of those peek around the basket games, with her not getting too close to him and him trying to get closer to her! Won't be long I think, she's been watching him jump around and he might just be having too much fun alone!

wishing a good day for everyone else, IO1, Julie VAnn, Kooger, Maria, the boys, the new GOBs, looks like we might have a little sunshine here. If you are having weather you don't appreciate, here's hoping it changes!!

Maria your dog is adorable and son funny, andSheila you just reminded me to go to the freezer get the pork chops out for dinner tonight. I like cooking specialy when I have company , either way my cooking included a lots of things that are grilled a lots of salad and vegetables . Potatoes are a rare thing unless my husband request home made potato chips. Otherwise we have potatoes once a week. We are both very diet conscious just to stay healhty. So far so good it has paid off , but we are not fanatical about it specialy right now with all the chocolates that I brought back from overseas, and all the goodies that we got for the holidays. No more goodies for me , I am saturated this should last me untill June or July then I will crave for another piece of chocolate and we won't have any left , my husband will have eaten them all...... that's life....

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning.

Giving AmandaPanda her medicine is challenging but successful. I wrap her up in a towel and she tries to pull her head down into it to hide from the eye dropper. So far it's 2-0 our favor with very little of the pink medicine on the towel and none on the outside of the kitty. The way she races around here you'd never guess she was fighting an infection if she didn't sneeze. Twice this morning she has been up on the top of my hubby's roll top desk and got spanked for it the second time. Bad, bad kitty.

Maria, Samson looks wonderful, so shiny and clean and happy. It's really amazing the difference you have made in each other's lives.

Yes, Meezer, I know you would never, never spoil your pets! Of course, spoil is a relative term.....

If you aren't keeping up with the thread about Howie's surgery, take a look. It is also here on the Parking Lot forum complete with some photos of Howie that Kim posted for us. He is standing much straighter and I bet he is at least an inch taller now. They expect him to be out of the hospital in another couple of days.

Orchid, it's nice to see another healthy eater here. We also eat lots of vegies but that includes a lot of potatoes, usually baked or steamed to retain the nutrients. Since I grow potatoes along with lots of other vegies we eat what I grow. We also eat brown rice (the kind you have to cook for about an hour, never the instant or quick kind) and not much pasta. Last night we had munchies of raw baby carrots and bell pepper slices before dinner, then some doctored up hamburger patties with sauteed onions and mushrooms, baked potatoes and green salad. No dessert. I find that the vegie munchies keep my hubby from grabbing a box of cheesy crackers or bag of chips if dinner isn't ready when he gets home, and then he isn't so hungry at dinner time. He rarely has second helpings anymore and maintains his weight without gaining. His idea of cooking in recent years is heating up a can of chili, although I do know he is capable of making a very good omlet.

Well, the house isn't going to clean itself, so I need to get busy on that after I get my outside chores done.

Morning All,

Just checking in quick before my first cust. gets here.

sorry to hear that some of you haven't been sleeping well.

I don't know What I did last night,,,,but in the wee hours,,,my machine came crashing to the floor off the table that it's on next to my bed,,,,,,,I have no clue?????

sarv,
good luck with getting the reservations done in a timely manner today.

Janis,
You're right,,,,we don't have to like them all of the time,,,,,took me a looooong time to figure out that wasn't a terrible thing! Good luck today.

orchid,
Have a nice visit with your friend. I also have to get back to the veggies and salads,,,,,*sigh*

M5,
I hate having to decide what to make for dinner too. Most of the time Bill just says, whatever when I ask him what he has a taste for,,,,I start making something and then he says Oh, your making that?,,,,,ggggrrrrrrrrr

Maria,
The pics of Samson made me lol,,,,how funny,,,I love when Mooshka plays like that too. Thanks for posting them this morning.

Mary,
I bet it's a challenge trying to give her her medicine,,,,good idea with the towel. Sounds like she's a terror,,,LOL

Well, see you all later,

Good morning,

Went to aquafit and didn't even turn the computer on first. Then stopped by the FC to pick up a list of volunteers that got left behind yesterday. Needs to be updated in the computer.

DH is still away; so I have to fetch grandtwins a bit before 1 and take them to Kindermusik. DD phoned and said their KinderMusik back packs were still at home - they forgot to take them to the babysitter's. So I'll have to allow a few extra minutes to swing by their house and get them. Takes me about 40 minutes between their house and mine.

Handbells tonight. January music is looked after - an easy piece that we play in two weeks. But I want to get a start on music for Feb. and March.
Guess I also need to put together an attendance sheet for 2006 up to June.

It's VERY mild here. Got out my spring jacket. there is a steady stream of water coming through a joint in the eavestroughing. Have a bucket underneath to collect it so it doesn't all freeze into a solid block of ice as it would when it gets cold again in a couple of days.

Generally speaking, sunshine is associated with cold weather in the winter here. But it would be nice to have a bright sunny day. And this wetness and rain will put a real icy crust on everything when it gets cold again. I haven't yet been out on snowshoes.

Anyway, better do something constructive before I have to leave to get the twins.

OOPs had wrong day got lost looking for new day and had the right one all along!!!!!! Sorry whew!!!

Hi all
Well, it takes a long time now to come in and check all my forums and read up, as I have found several new interests with the new forums. LOL

Sarv, I want to go camping, pretty please? I'll be good! Promise. LOL I went once and slept out in a tent for 3 nights, we cooked on a fire and the weather was gorgeous. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

Janis, hope your PT goes well for you today and you get some answers. That can be so difficult when you can't get your questions answered.

Orcad, I like to knit, also but don't do fancy stuff ... only know how to knit and perl and have never made anything worth wile. LOL

M5, sounds like Sammy is a blast. I bet he'll be playing with the others in no time. He's a smart one ... teasing the others like that. ;)

Hi Maria, so glad to hear you and Samson are getting along okay. You are both lucky to have each other. Be sure and give him a hug for me. :)

Mary, isn't it amazing how good the furbabies will be for their meds? Am glad you aren't having too much difficulty with Amanda Panda. I've never tried to treat a kitty before. Sounds sort of tricky. LOL LOL I just tell my girl ... "Take your pill" and she'll do it for Mama.

Oh, I've *got* to go. The DH just called and is coming home for lunch. He *never* does that. LOL LOL
Hugs ... elaine

Good morning, all! What was us with so many of us not being able to sleep? Once I did go to bed I slept well.

I have decided I won't be the only cook in the house anymore (not that others didn't cook occassionally), and

Quoting:
I hate having to decide what to make for dinner too. Most of the time Bill just says, whatever when I ask him what he has a taste for,,,,I start making something and then he says Oh, your making that?,,,,,ggggrrrrrrrrr
DH used to do that too; until I stopped cooking. If I have been gone all day, and their home, they better not ask "What's for supper" when I walk in the door!

The quote of the day is:

As a child my family's menu consisted of two choices: take it or leave it. ~Buddy Hackett

Morning Again!

Banana bread~~try adding butterscotch or cinnamon chips in it too. When I make a big batch I stir one of each into each loaf after I pour the batter into the pans. My kids adore the mini loaves, and dh really likes to take a mini loaf of something in his lunch to work. that reminds me, I have collected quite a few over ripe bananas in the freezer again, lol.

I wish I could take a pic of me cutting cat claws. I pin the cat between my legs on the floor and put my racquetball racket over the top. Cat grabs racket, I clip claws. Also works great on the guinea pig too!

I'm going to head to the laundry room to wage war for a while, then I think I will take a nap. Guess I will have to play around with my meds again, sigh.

jasnerr,

Just ask my kids.....that was my menu too. Sticking up noses did not win brownie points with me. If it was something new I "requested" that they at least try it. There are things that I don't like. After the taste, they still did not like it I would not make it again, but nothing else was made for supper. (As a mother, I knew what my kids would usually eat so I did not try weird things.)

Thanks for the remembering....

Hap

You guys do to banana bread what I do to salads. LOL......(Blue cheese dressing kills the health food angle....lol

Forgot to say: My mom gave us an option if we didn't like what she cooked. A lard sandwich. *shudder* I can still taste that from the one time I was stupid enough to take her up on her offer. Ack.

mg

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

That was in our house growing up too,,,if you didn't like what was on the table starve,,,,that's all there was to it.

Sometimes when Bill comes home, if I have a break in the salon and am in the house he'll ask what's for dinner,,I tell him whatever you decide to make.

And if he doesn't like what I make, I say the same thing, find something else or don't eat.

I don't play that game anymore,,,lol

mg,
I would Love to see the pedicure procedure,,,,,lol

Back from the huff/puff - didn't really do a good workout - no sweat even. My heart just wasn't in it. We're not going tomorrow - workout partner has a doc appt.

I cant find a thing good to eat in this house- I should have stopped at McD on the way home!!! I ended up having a half a tuna sandwich and a container of pudding and a handfull of taco chips. Nothing tasted that good....

Sun is out and I wandered around my gardens, then went in the greenhouse. It is toasty warm in there- I'd like to lug some plants out there, but it will be cold tomorrow, so they will just have to stay under the lights. Beds are pretty much under leaves, so hopefully nothing with sprout with this warm weather.

IO1- we camp every year and have so since I was a little kid. My kids grew up doing it and one still loves it and the other one doesn't care for it. I'm in charge of making reservations and it always gives me a few sleepless nights. It is hard getting seven sights together and big enough - some of the members have huge rigs. Ours is a 5th wheel - 26 ft with a bump out in the living/dining room - just the right size for us. It does have an oven, micro, shower, and 2 tv so we are not really roughing it!! But it's the nearest to heaven that I've experienced!! The group we go with are oldsters and young ones. We always take our DGS and spoil him rotten!!! I'll be on the horn tomorrow at 8am getting those reservations!!

Well, I'm gonna go outside and sit in the sun for a bit!! Maybe get a head start on my tan LOL

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Well "Buddy Hacket" you were lucky mine had only ONE choice, but did not make them eat what they did not like after having tried to eat it, there was never a substitute just did not serve it again for them.
My youngest was terribly fussy about food, when he came home from school his first question was , what's for dinner? I would say what ever you will see on the table tonight, lol
He did not like green vegetables, one night I served broccoli and did not put any on his plate, he said I want some, I said you do not like green stuff , he said, never had it before, how do I know? lol he ate it!!!
I never made dessert after dinner only after school something sweet.

Had lard sandwiches too, MG, did not like them either but there was nothing else.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Maria, that is nothing, as in NOTHING?????

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

yes as in nothing else to eat, later there was not even that, (WWII in Europe)

cambridge md, MD(Zone 7a)

I am lucky my sons were not picky eaters, they ate everything , lefover were gone before I had the chance to eat them. Growing up I remember giving hard time to my mother regarding to the beef stew she had made, she didnt feel well that day I was about 5 years old. I had decided all of a sudden that I didnt like beef stew . she gave me some stew for lunch and I would not eat it . So she told me that stew was also on the menu for dinner. I replied that I rather die than eat stew , so she told me "your choice stew or nothing".
Evening came about I was hungry but I was not going to have stew I didnt like it. My mother told me You will be hungry sometimes trust me". I finally went to bed and I was so hungry that finally about 10PM I got up in the dark got a chair close to the pot of stew and started to eat right out of the pot with a laddle . My mother hearing the noise came down turned on the light , and said to me I didn't want you to eat in the dark .. . God the stew was good , I never ever said that I didnt like something again, hunger pains were not fun. Nothing more was said she knew that I had learned my lesson

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

That sounds like something my mother would have done. Very simple and very quiet she was in her ways.

Okay, I'm back. I'm sorry I had to rush off and didn't get to speak to everyone. Lucky for me I had some of the BBQ and stew in the freezer and was able to thaw it in the microwave right fast for lunch. The DH had been in meetings all morning and needed to get away. Enjoyed having him for lunch. Wish he could do it every day. He never complains about what I put on the table. If he has them, he keeps them to himself. :)

Went to HD last night and drooled over what few plants and seeds they had. Went out this morning and worked in the few things I have left. So far I still have a chocolate mint, lemon balm, rosemary, Echinacea and my plants from Darius. I purchased a mixture of Lavender seeds last night and am going to plant them. I killed my Lavender last year, so don't know if they'll grow.

Maria, I hope you don't mind me saying, but I enjoy your post about the war. I know those were not pleasant times for you, but it's a part of history ... and I do so love to read and hear about history. :) I always soak up any of your comments and enjoyed the "apron" thread.

Well, I'm going back outside and play in the dirt.
Hello to those I haven't spoken to directly. Oh, before I go ... Susan, I am thinking especially of you today. You'll be in my prayers for good results for your surgery tomorrow.

I am a picky eater. wife gave up long ago. I do eat well though on a cruise. We have went twice with all our nutty friends. Was thinking about going again next month but only about 1/2 the bunch went. This one I know my wife would not have went on it was a 7 day carribian cruise on a wind jammer. she does not do well on anything not solid. Only about 100 guest on that boat. Before we were on great big liners. I tell you all you cannot beat cruising for value. We got a nutty group here, all of us seniors and retired. My good buddy and I were seated next to each other at the table. You know on those cruises they put all kinds of silverware out there and everything is in its exact place. So I and my friend got to switching the stuff around. That waiter would come back and see that and all the color would drain out of his face. We about drove that guy nuts in 7 days. Watch the horseradish. We has having prime rib and the waiter comes up with horseradish. He had this little bitty tiny dipper about the size of a pea and that is what he put the horseradish on my meat with. Well I like good horseradish so I told him give me another one. Still looked like nothing there so I had him put down 2 more. Well I took a bit of that meat with a good god of that on there and I can tell you NEVER EVER have I had such a sever reaction. Water gushed out of my eyesmy nose ran like i had a cold. Was it ever strong and hot. It is a wonder it did ont blow out my ears and other opens and burn up the chair. So watch what you ask for.

Hi all. Thought I would take a little break from my frantic trying to get EVERYTHING done before in the morning. I am doing laundry, changing beds, vacuuming, trying to get things ready to mail for DG, swaps, round robins, etc. Don't know if I'm going to make it or not. Still have all the aquariums to do and stuff to put away from the grocery store visit yesterday. The meat to divide up and get in the freezer, so much I don't know what to do first.

So, here I am here. LOL

Just had a real feeling sorry for myself crying spell while trying to eat my lunch. Which I didn't really want, cause I have had a stomach ache all day and feel nauseated. Nerves I think. I always said if we had a really bad storm or anything scary happen that they would find me on the toilet. ROFL

I got a wonderful box from one of my 11 month swap partners right in the middle of crying jag and it made me feel so much better.

I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 and that means I will need to get up at 5 so I can shower and get all the animals their breakfast before we go cause we won't be back until afternoon. They will probably want to know what the heck they are doing eating at 5 in the morning in the dark. I might as well just not go to bed, I won't be able to sleep anyway. I can rest under anesthesia. LOL

I better go try to do somemore stuff, I think I hear the dryer buzzing and I need to put the sheets back on the bed. Should wash all the dog beds too, but I don't know if I will have time to do all that. I KNEW I would do this and wait until the last minute and then not be able to do it all.

A friend found a albino Faun yeasterday. was about the size of a sneaker. I am sure the mother deserted it. He turned it over to conservation people they will raise it.

Just taking a quick afternoon break. Seems like i just can't get the time to post in the morning anymore. I stopped turing on the computer before going to work. I wasn't getting enought done before I left.

Susan - you will be in my thoughts and prayers tonight and tomorrow. Hope DH can give us an update.

None of my crew has ever been really picky eaters. Most of the time they eat everything that isn't nailed down. When we have big family get togethers, you don't want to be late to the table.

Maria - Cute pictures of Sampson

Sarv - We are campers also. Our first venture out of the year is usaully Memorial day weekend. We go camping with my parents and another couple in Lancacer County, PA. This past year, we didn't go anywhere other than that. We have a 26' travel trailer. DH would like to get one about the same size with a small slide out just to give a little more room to walk through. I don't want to spend the $$ though.

Darius - Bannana Bread looks yummi!

It's really warm here today. Ran an errand to the printers office and was surprised at how nice it was. About mid 50's and sunny. I would rather be home soaking up the sun on my porch.

To those I've missed, sorry, gotta get back to work. See ya later!

Oh, how precious. We found a blind fawn back in the spring. My neighbor took him and still has him. The conservation people were going to put him down, which we probably should have done, but she had raised one before and was quickly attached to the thing. His name is John (Deere you know)

My aquariums are tropical fish in the 55 gallon, goldfish in the 20 gallon and baby snails in the 3 gallon. LOL See this link for the snails. http://davesgarden.com/place/t/563131/

The blue gill and catfish are in the pond and they are PETS, WE DO NOT EAT THEM!!! We feed them fish food and I also have big goldfish and koi in there. It is so much fun to feed the catfish, their big wide mouths just scoop up all the food. They come quicker than the other fish. It is funny. Oh, we also have really big weedeaters in there too.

Here is a picture of John, where I found him back in behind my clematis. You can see his little eyes are messed up. There weren't any eyeballs in there.
