I've been sneaking in some reading time but not much posting - trying to get some long overdue sorting and cleaning out done.
After the many-times-flooded basement last spring, nothing was really put away again. Some stuff got hauled upstairs and into the spare bedroom - gotta get it empty in time for darius' visit (ha ha! I'm watching for u!) And DS's friend that he lives with, built a new house, got married, etc. and while they're finishing the basement themselves for DS to live in, all his stuff is here. He asked if he could keep it here for 4 months, that ended in Dec. 04! The walls are up and sheetrocked, the tile is laid, the ceiling is in, so we're loading up his stuff and delivering it to him soon. DD is now jr. choir director in her church so we're delivering the piano to her soon as it gets a bit colder, don't wanna mess up the lawn at her apt. Hurrah, more room in my house! I guess 50 means clean out time? LOL
For u folks that were surprised about the dgmail access by members, they cannot access the addy exchange, just click on the name to email. I think lots of people have had no problems trading with members but if u don't want to do that, simply delete the message.
As far as personal info goes, anything on the internet is fair game in my book. There always seems to be a way to find it. On DG, if someone wants to engage in improper or illegal activity, it only costs them $15.00 to find a whole lot of info about a whole lot of people. That's why dave does not make the Addy Ex. really easy to find and also requires peeps to post their addy before they can access the exchange. I can understand why he struggles with the openness of all that personal info and he may just close down the exchange some day cuz of the privacy issue. We've definitely had a few bad apples on DG and have lost co-op purchases because of them. ....the cost of becoming large and successful? (wry grin)
Not much exciting happening here, went to band concert at school last night, last song was William Tell Overture - LOVE that one!!
SIL is being a royal petutie again - par for the course, some things never change!! Send over the 2x4!!
Absolutely delighted at the good outcomes of the surgery patients!! And hope u sickies and falling downers get better soon ! oh, and stop that falling thing, it's just not good for u! JK I really do hope u didn t do any really bad damage - that's so scary to take a tumble like that.
Gotta hit the hay, sleep is calling.............zzzzzzzzzzzz truste!!

Morning! I feel like I was awake all night long. DH made a roaring fire and I just cannot sleep when it is hot! Then my arm and hand took to aching...ouch! Good thing today is a do nothing day for me (meaning no work out!)
We have had 50 days of some type of precipitation here in Mich. Can you believe that!! (raining today ) Do we get a prize for it??? LOL No wonder I've been in a semi-funk....
I love to balance checkbooks, and do accounting! I spend hours tracking our investments. I have spreadsheets on the computers which I update every quarter. I cannot sleep if my checkbook is off by a penney even! I started a budget book 37 yrs ago and still do it to this day. I showed both boys how to do it and one does and one doesn't. Can you guess which on always has money?? I find it fascinating!!
Defoe - I find it so hard saying NO to people too, but am slowly getting better. Then after I say no, I have tremendous guilt. What is it with females and guilt!
McCool - I've never had any duck. I've always heard it is greasy and that was a turn off for me. Does it taste like chicken? dark or light meat?
I joined DG before you had to pay any $$ to belong!! I must be a charter member!! All the new forms are mind boggling to me! You know I will NEVER get a thing done now....
1garden - I saw Polar Express at the I- Max (where you have to wear those funky glasses) It was awesome! I had to take a dramamine tho (LOL) - the action was right in your face and I could feel the pounding of the train in my chest...
M5- chicken ench. sound delish. I put a pork roast in the crock - DH made fake potatoes (YUCK) and fresh steamed veggies. Good dinner. Having hot pork sandwiches with the leftovers. I sure would like someone to come cook for me - I get in a rut and can't think of anything good to make. I have hundreds of cookbooks, but stick to a few 'old faithfuls'
Well, I have a sinkful of dishes staring at me and a container of yogurt hollaring 'eat me!' - gotta go check the hundreds of forums!! Take care all
Good morning,
Freezing rain here turning to plain old rain by noon. Woke to a long list of places people have slid into each other on the roads. Was supposed to go snowshoeing with friends this afternoon - guess I'll stay at work instead. I took a look at my accumulated vacation leave and it's a bit more than two weeks. Since I can't just disappear and leave my successor entirely on his own (well I guess I could, but I care more about the program than that), it looks like they'll be paying me out.
TTYL. Have a good day.
Ann
OMG the kids are on a 2 hour delay due to a teachers inservice....... someone come and save me!!!!!!!!!!!!! They haven't done nothing but argue since they got out of bed. They don't catch the bus til 10:20 today, I may lose my mind before then!!!!!!!!
Slept ok last night, couldn't fall asleep but when I did, I slept. Actually don't hurt as bad today, thanks goodness. I am starting to have a reaction to the adhesive from the Therma- care wraps. :( They have been my biggest help, and I was afraid I would start to have trouble with the adhesive, and this AM I'm all red and broke out looking where the adhesive was last night :(( Back to the heating pads and socks of rice I guess.
Gonna try to get some housework done, vaccuum run, stuff like that. May take a garbage bag to the dining roon (my desk and the kids desk) I can usually throw away a full bag of papers from those 2 places a week, and it needs done. When I start having to shove stuff aside to get to the mouse, its time to clean it off LOL DH will kick my behind if I do too much tho, so I have to be careful. I was hopeing to get tulips and daffs in the ground today that didn't get planted in the fall, but its rainy looking :( I figure digging is the last thing I need to do anyway. Might just have to go get my seed starting flats out tho.
Also hope to update my trade lists, and get busy with my ebay stuff, but I'm not sure about typing that much. Who knows I may end up spending the day curled up on the couch looking at seed catalogs LOL
Well, everyone have a good day, and I"ll be around later :)
Hugs,
Janis
Good morning, all! Another gray gloomy morning in SE Wisconsin. Had freezing rain in some areas, and they are announcing school delays due to road conditions. Just rain here. Having lunch with DD and DIL at the pie place.
Sarv, what are fake potatos? Or was that just a typo? LOL I could probly use fewer carbs, but they are in all the foods I love! Give up pasta? Sure, if you cut off my hands.....on second thought, I'd probly manage without them!
Dcat, I hate paying bills but do most of them through my on line banking. I have two checking accts, one for on line purchases, and one for household bills. I usually pay them right away, if they hit the chronological junk heap on my desk, they'd be lost forever. Except for my utility ( gas and electric) bill, which I'm holding off on until a couple of days before it's due! Last reading was 11/30 to 1/4, and it's $325., 50% more than it was last year for the same period, when we had much colder weather. So they aren't getting my funds to play with until the very last minute.
MaryE, your kitty will be so glad to see you! It's nice that your vet provides boarding. I think ours does too, but we usually prevail on our obligated children to come and feed ours if we go away, which is so rare that they don't object to doing it. Bet you're gonna miss that Fritz!
If you are tired of Little Rascal stories, you can skip this paragraph...
took him with me when I went to bed, and he snuggled right down. When DH came to bed he decided it was play time, and after leaping around for a bit chasing blanket gophers, he went down on the floor. After about ten minutes of wandering around the house, yodeling for somebody to come and play with him, he decided it was a no-go and managed to clamber back up onto the bed (Mount Everest to him) and stayed there all night. DH said he was tucked under his chin for most of it, occasionally taking a swat at his beard.
He has several different voices: the usual one is the little "mew?" when he's exploring or wants to come up on your lap, a new one is when DH comes home, and he goes ROWR! at him, perhaps chastising him for being gone, and the third, so far, is the little grunting chatter when he eats, which is very funny. Crunch, rowr, mew, crunch, mew,rowrrowr..... and the last is the litterpan dialogue, which goes, yeow yeow yeow followed by a happy litter fling when he's done. I hope he learns to follow the girls down to the basement soon, because he can toss litter two feet away from the temporary pan! Happily, the girls have not decided that the small pan is for their convenience....
McCool, I've only had one meezer that was a frequent barfer, that was Max and he seems to have changed since he went back to DS, maybe because he doesn't have time to gorge, as Howard is always watching the cat food, and he has to get his food in small doses! Max isn't afraid of him at all but his food is in the pantry, and Howard stands at the door so Max just grabs a few bites at a time . Otherwise there is just the occasional hairball issue. I am soooo grateful! LOL
Woofens, I have adhesive issues too, usually get a rash or hives from regular adhesive tape. Have you tried the paper tape they use in hospitals? That works pretty well for me, but I have to trim all the regular adhesive off whatever I'm sticking on me, because even a thin strip of it will cause a problem I tried the Nicoderm patches a couple years ago.........had hives from my neck down to my knees...just from the adhesive. Paper tape causes no problems at all, but it's not as durable as the other stuff.
DR, the Hawaii trip sounds like heaven! I usually get away for a week or so about this time of year, but with a new kitten, I'm temporarily under travel restrictions....lol. housebound in the dead of winter. Oh well...take lots of pictures so we can enjoy your vacation by proxy. LOTS of pictures, some of us are light deprived. Make that most of us.
GG, thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll just pick a shade or two lighter than my own hair in permanent hair goo, and see how that works out. Worst comes to worst, I'll just get it all off in spring before I emerge from hibernation. Wish you were closer!! If the MWG's decide to converge on the Madison garden show, you need to bring all your equipment with you!! We could have a hair-a-thon! LOL
Joyous, I have two gift cards burning a hole in my pocket. Last year, Linen's and Things had a fabulous sale in January, but I stopped there last week and the pickin's are mighty slim. Might have to blow the LNT card on new bathroom rug/lid cover/piddle mat... Michael's always has great after Christmas sales, too, you did some good shopping there. I always find things I can't live without in that store! I think I have a "Bedazzler" that I've never used.....couldn't figure out what I wanted to bedazzle.
Sarv, babysitting twins? What were you thinking?? What an exhausting day you had! How did we ever do it? Oh, yeah I remember, we were young, our joints didn't hurt, our butts were a lot smaller, and there wasn't any choice. Daycare didn't exist, and disposable diapers were just a dream. The very memory of it makes me want to lie down and take a nap.
Yeah, where are those guys? Bal? Ernie? Are you tired of us already? We've roped in another fella so you won't feel so alone....!
Hello to everyone else that I haven't specifically mentioned, I'm running out of time here, have to get dressed, and write down my errand list so I don't forget anything. I heard the PO is running out of 2 cent stamps....I'll just use up my 37 cent ones mailing books or packages, it won't take long. I'm sure they have plenty of the new 39 centers available.
Sammi just crawled up on my lap for a nap, he's been up and running for two whole hours, and just ran out of steam. TTYL
Sheila
Good morning
I wanted to comment on a couple of things that were said yesterday about the address addi and Dmails. I am thankful for those who brought it to our attention that you can receive mail from non sub members. I'll be sure to check in the future. I chose not to be in the address addi because even though someone has entered their info doesn't mean I want them having access to mine. I prefer to choose who I give this info out to. Many of you have my info because of a trade or because we have chosen to be in contact. My Dmail allows me this privacy. I hope that doesn't offend anyone. Now that DG may have a population explosion ... I'm glad I chose this particular route. If I ask to do a trade with a person ... I tell them up front that I'm not in the addi, but provide my info first.
Sarv, I laughed so hard about your day yesterday. I'm sorry. I know that wasn't nice to laugh. Just couldn't help myself. LOL You reminded me of myself. I love the kids when they come ... but love em more when they leave! :)
Mary, so good to see y'll made it home safe. Know you'll be glad to get Amanda Panda back. Bet the horses *were* glad to see you.
Janis, you're just toooo funny. Sorry, but you're on your own. LOL LOL
Defoe, know you commented somewhere along the way, but can't remember ... so I'll just say good morning.
Okay, got to go take a walk around the garden. ;)
Hugs&blessings E
Good morning everyone: Today it is a drizzly day nice and grey and 40 degrees on the nose. I am so glad that I spent the last few days working in the yard this way today I can catch up with the work inside , like real work ,upholstery for a client , pay bills this afternoon. The house is clean , the laundry is done now I can concentrate on business.
I am sure that I will find the time sometimes today to review some of the seed catalogs that I received and decide what to get for the new year. First I have to go thru the accumulation of seeds that I made last year and decide what to keep and what to give away. This year I have a major undertaking which mean's relandscaping my front yard in order to make it Older woman friendly. I have to move about 10 roses bushes must of them David Austin, and about just as many peonnies and 2 tree peonnies.
Yesterday I cleared a whole section of the yard that had been neglected for the past several years due to involvment in my business 80 miles from here. I am the gardener , my husband consider's himself the guy who does the heavy duty stuff that I cant' do like digging shrubbs out.
Anyway I see that this morning everybody has the same idea meaning doing the bills . I hope that after that strenous task you had a good cup of coffee you all deserved it ......Have a great day. By the way I love the new lay out, alphabetical order is always good.......thank you Dave......
I have started taking Wednesdays off since my social security started in September. It gives me a chance to catch up on DG.
I have moved 4 gartenmeister fuchsia out to our new greenhouse, started 4 pots full of Tender Greens, moved my Christmas cactus out there (too warm to bloom in the house). Since it is a small greenhouse, my spousal unit has been building upper shelving above the benches. They are quite a bit higher and made with narrow slats so they shouldn't block much sun.
I think I will start some snap dragon and stock seed now, because I think they can take cooler soil. We have heat in there but I'm sure it will get down to the upper 40s on our colder nights. What do you all think? Any shade plants I can start from seed this early?
orchidfancy, I would hate to move the peonies. It can take them 2 or 3 years to start blooming again but the rest of it sounds great. How about some before and after shots?

101 I do not think you will see a population explosion on Daves Garden. I cannot really see the attraction for some of these people. They can pick out people a lot easier on places like yahoo and other chat related networks. I really do not want you are anyone else to feel upset are scared because of something I said yeasterday. It has been bothering me. I want everyone to enjoy themselves. I am just safety paranoid you could say.
I'm still here.....just have been out gardening....it's beautiful and 71 right now. (Having a cuppa first)
I'm glad the ill are getting better but we have to stop the falls. LOL
I'm loving the pics of all the kitties. Not a cat person myself, but I love someone elses. When I was growing up we had a loveable cat, all 18 lbs. and then a barn cat. He lived 17 miserable, nasty years. Never got friendly.
As I said it's 71 now and a little hazy, but I think it's going to burn off. Fixing up a couple of areas in the yard and still waiting for the fence men to come and repair from Wilma. That area is getting messy, but I'm not going to get it all picked up to have Big Foot come in and undo what I have done.
My neighbors to the south of me have mentioned putting up a chain link fence. That will cut my side yard down to 7 1/2 feet. Not too good seeing I have fruit trees and brugs there. I haven't a clue as how the lawn man is going to get his lawn mower in. Oh well, not my problem,,,,I hope.
Welcome to our new GOBs. It's great here.
Well, had my cuppa and off to the north 40....LOL....that's 40 feet.
Have a wonderful and safe day.
Hap
Oarkian: I joined Dave's garden before the changes , I am interested in exchanging info's about to plants and similar interest like home improvements and the likes. Hopefully trading plants and seeds . I got on the parking lot because I found it interesting ,the people really are . It is nice to see that most gardeners are animal lovers and that they have a life behond the flower pots and the dalhias, It is also nice to see how other part of the country lives , the weather , the plantings and so on , make's life interesting. Right now I do have some spare time so I can be on line but as soon as the weather breaks I wont' have the time to do much other than be busy with all my projects.
Hi folks,
I'm peeking in here in the morning for a change. DH has gone off to play shopkeeper at my store today and I've got plenty of work to do here (no way I'll get it all done in one day, but hope to take a decent shot at it anyhow).
Sarv, no duck doesn't taste like chicken. The meat is darker, usually a bit more moist and has a flavor all it's own. I can't really describe it except to say it's really good! The first time I cooked one every cat in the house ended up in the kitchen waiting for the oven door to open. As I said before, I've had it in restaurants and not cared for it much as they didn't render most of the fat out in the cooking process and it ended up greasy, but done properly it's great.
D'cat, yes I do size rings. You've got me beat with your seven rings------I thought I wore a lot with my four (five if you count the wedding band and engagement ring seperately). As far as ring guards go, the regular gold ones are meant to be attached by wrapping their tabs around the ring shank and likely wouldn't do you any good because it would make it difficult or impossible to get the ring over enlarged knuckles. They do sell a kind of hinged piece that can be soldered on in place of part of the ring shank. It opens up so the ring can be slipped on, then locks back down making it the right size for your finger. The problem with these is that they are quite expensive and you'd also have to pay someone to cut the ring shanks and solder these in place. One more option ----- there are some plastic ring guards that you can snap into place (with a little practice) while you're wearing the ring. I bought a whole assortment a few years ago because my MIL was having the same problem. I think I caught sight of the box while doing inventory. If you Dmail me the sizes and the widths of the bands (the part underneath your finger) I'll try to unearth them and send you some. They're not doing anyone any good buried in a heap in my store.
Oops! Orchidfancy, I forgot to say Hi on yesterday's thread, so consider yourself properly (if belatedly) welcomed.
The only cyber goodies I have to offer are the last of the Christmas cookies, but they're still as good as ever (I know cause I just ate two for breakfast --- see, sarv's not the only one in the "exotic" breakfast bunch.) I like to cook, just not breakfast as I've never been a "morning person".
M5, love the description of Sammi's nighttime activities. Often when we've had a resident kitten, I've put an extra layer of blankets or duvets at the foot of the bed so that if the "blanket gophers" turned out to be our toes, we wouldn't get the full brunt of the claws or those little needle teeth!
Well, I'd best get a move on. I really do need to get some work done today.
Good Morning all. Have been up for ages, but decided that I needed to do some work before I started playing. Made a pot of chili for later today, packaged some seeds to mail, and am returning some pictures my cousin loaned me to scan. Haven't been super busy, but have whittled my "to do" list down quite a bit.
I am not going to comment on everyone's post, but to say Welcome back to Mary, and Meezer, I snickered about Sammi's eating voice. So cute.
2 neighbor ladies and I are heading out for lunch today. We try to do this at least once a month. One lady has a tax filing business, and thought we better go out early this month, as she will be getting busy and the month goes along. We have decided on a Mexican restaurant, so will check back in, talking around the tums in my mouth.
The weather here is about 40, rained last night, and it grey and overcast this morning. Hope it clears some as the day goes on.
Well off to do some more chores, before I have to start getting ready to go. DH is still at the hospital, stayed the night, called this morning, and said DMIL has an upset stomach. Sure hope that someone didn't carry in the stomach virus to her. That's all she needs now.
bbl
OF, could you please explain this?
the laundry is done
I just can't seem to grasp this concept...ROFL
Morning Gobs and 'Ettes!
We had a nice surprise in chat last night, Dave joined us! We got to give kudos, suggestions and concerns relating to the changes. Pretty wonderful.
I got a worrisome phonecall yesterday. It was one of Nathan's therapists. Nathan is in a very small group therapy program, and one of the other boys was just diagnosed with Whooping Cough. Nathan commented last week about this boy's coughing all over, so I called our doc. Our Doc is contacting the "infectious disease specialist" at the U of Iowa to find out what drugs to put Nathan on. Nathan has several current meds that react badly with some antibiotics, so we have to be sure. Nathan isn't coughing, but he did run a fairly high temp all weekend which can be a sign of early infection. Worried mom here! And he can also just act as a carrier and give it to me. Jenna should be safe since her shots are up to date, but I have Asthma and this could be bad for me to get. Doc is talking about putting me on the drugs just in case.
Anyway....I hope you all have a great day. I'm going to the basement to battle the Laundry Beast. If I'm not back for tomorrow's chat, call 911!
;oD
mg
McCool thank you for your late hello , I appreciate it. I had the rude awakening this morning. My dog Dozzie sleep's under the covers and the cat was trying to wake both of us up by hitting the dog's nose on top of the duvet. For this I was kicked several times and not allowed to go back to sleep. If I dont get up at 5AM the cat object's and will do anything to get my attention even get the dog's attention so I get up and feed him.... How do you like that for a jump start?
morning_gayle of course the laundry is done for today.... we are only two people plus the cat and the dog and they dont create much laundry . I cant remember the last time that the cat was in the washer... the dog like the shower as often as possible. Once during the summer I do the cat's laundry meaning that all his knitted mices go in the washer and hang outside. Make's great picture and something to talk about.
OF..I see you keep house for the animals too.....Now if they would only pay the bills...lol
Our little Archie, a Shih Tsu, runs the show here....
Hap
Happy_1 if only the squirrels would pay rent. I made a house for them and thats not enought they build at least 5 condos. I hope that my taxes are not going up after this quirrel building frenzy . And yes at my house the cat and the dog rule....
Defoe, *wait*! You're forgetting something ... ME! LOL
MG, sure hope Nathan is okay. Don't blame you. I'd be worried, too. You can't go get sick now, ya hear?
There are only two of us, also, but the laundry monster always wins. ;)
Hap, tooo funny! Wish she *could* pay her vet bills. LOL LOL
I have seeds laying around my office everywhere. 3 kinds of Tomatos, a couple of herb packs and who knows how many flowres. I *want* to start planting. LOL
... Elaine
Elaine,
The pic I just posted is of a tee shirt. In the center is a "queenly" cat and above it reads "Dogs have owners..." below the cat says: "CATS have staff"
mg
Well, I have accomplished something for the day LOL I'm dressed. No PJ's for me :)
Thanks for the tape advice, paper tape usually doesn't give me grief, but it wouldn't last through the night with the Therma Care things, I love them but they make me sweat ( and not a lady like perspire, really yucky out of bed into the shower sweat yuck!!) the paper tape wouldn't last all night LOL I got a dmail from a gal, gave me a couple tips, willing to try anything right now. I do have my rice filled socks, but they just don't work as well, and won't stay hot all night either LOL Its only 1 more day til I get the latest MRI results. Hopefuly I get answers then.
House is finally quiet, the older 3 are at school and bubby is watching his bob the builder movie. When its over we'll do a couple episodes of Bob on demand, then lunch and his nap (and maybe mine too LOL)
Someone said "finished laundry" I want to live at your house LOL I think I see the bottom of the hamper and someone fills it up again. We won't even talk about the last time the curtains were washed. I'm about half afraid to wash them now, they might fall apart from the shock LOL Febreeze is my bestest friend :)
I can't even begin to adress every one, so hugsb to all, and welcome to Orchid :)
Janis
Phew- just taking a break from working my fingers to the bone for an hour. But man, did I accompolish things!! Now I am watching Martha and perusing DG
What - Dave showed up on chat!! Man, I missed that! Darn...I've never seen him there before.
Talk about wearing rings - I can't stand to have them on my fingers =- haven't worn them for years. I try to remember to put them on if we are going 'out', but then sometimes forget. They just drive me crazy...can't wait to get them off!! But I am never without my watch....now that I'm retired, I seldom wear earrings either!
mg- keep us up to date on the whooping cough...did you see the Today show on pillow gunk this morning? Oh, it was nasty. I want to go out and get a zillion of those pillow protectors. yuck - mites and mite feeces..
m5 - fake potatoes are instant potatoes - I am not a fan of them...DH thinks they are dandy. We didn't have any milk, so he made them with water - good thing I am trying to diet.....they looked pitiful! That new kitty sounds like a real cutie. Ours refuses to sleep with anyone- that's her time to get on the counters (where she is never allowed during the day!) I often get up during the night to give her a sharp NO!! She hops down and promply returns when I go back to bed.
Well, break time is over, time to bust butt for another hour....
Love the tee shirt , I dont think that my dog read it right, I think that he identify more with the cat....I think that the dogs see'sus as asource of heat so long as someone is asleep or watching tv he is right there glued to me my husband or whoever spends the night in my house. Recently my grand son was visiting for few days , Dozzie got up as always at 5AM went outside came back in and went back to sleep with my grand son untill he got up . This dog love's his sleep . When I go shopping he goe's back upstairs and sleep with the cat but not too close. See picture below babyBoo is under the pillow the dog is on top. What an arrangement.......
Elaine, that's a riot. Love it..
Hap
Hi Everyone! Have been reading and checking out the changes to DG, but havn't taken time to post.
Welcome Orchidfancy! You'll find lot of good friends here in coffee. Your critters sure are cute!
Sarv - I don't care for those "fake" potatoes either. DH asks for them, but I refuse to make them.
Woodspirit - the greenhouse is lovely. I could just sit in there with a cup of tea and watch the woods outside.
Janis - Hope some of the pain eases for you soon
Elaine - It's a good thing that sign isn't haning over my desk! Boss would know where the snoring is coming from then. hehehe
To those I've missed, have a great afternoon. If anyone has any quick dinner ideas. I need to pick something up from the market on my way home. I was thinking of making cheesesteak sandwhiches.
For something real quick and easy I make...................
Reservations.......
Hap
Great idea Hap, but DH is sick with the bug I had last week. I don't think he is up to going out.

Hi everyone. AmandaPanda kitty just sent my 3 paragraph post into cyberspace by taking a fast trip across the keyboard. She is happy to be home, tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia but has an upper respitory infection that needs 1/2 mil of Amoxicillin twice a day for a week before she gets shots. The vet said the sneezing was due to the infection. She seems to have a couple of days worth of energy stored up and has never acted sluggish since I got her. I wonder if clearing it up will put her into overdrive, she is already in fast forward! I think I'm going to have to wrap her in a towel and snip the points off her claws, my hands and lower arms reveal that I have a kitten. OUCH!
Ellen, you will just have to believe us when we say you look great and don't appear to have a weight problem. Your dog is a sweetheart. There is a lady in town who trains guide dogs for the blind, bless her heart. I've always wondered if she knows who gets the dogs? Do you know who trained yours? I have a question for you about a book I read many years ago about a blind man who became a teacher. His students thought he must have eyes in the back of his head because he could always catch them when they tried to sneak out of the room or misbehave. He not only knew what they were doing but most of the time knew who it was! Do you happen to know the name of that book? I would like to read it again. This was way back when teachers actually had control of the classroom.
Susieq and hap, I got a laugh out of your dinner suggestions. I prefer the reservations, they usually are more interesting than cheesesteak sandwiches.
I remember seeing that Chat was open late last evening, later than the usual hours, but I rarely go in there because it is so busy and I don't type fast, so I didn't check into it. Back when DG was young we had Dave and Trish in chat quite often, and it was on all the time, until some trouble developed and they had to limit the chat times to when they could monitor it. Dave takes good care of us, so there is little need to be concerned. If you get some wierdo on the dmail just ignore it and let Dave know. He won't reveal your address. One of his top priorities is to have a safe, user friendly, family website. Off color jokes and nastyness get people zapped outa here. When I joined up in Jan 01, everything was free, there were about a dozen forums and less than 500 people. Dave and Trish thought long and hard before making a subscription available for full service and limiting nonpaying members to just a few things. He wouldn't have done it at all if it hadn't been for needing to upgrade equipment to handle the growing numbers who came flooding in from another large garden website with an unreasondable guy running it. I consider my DG subscription a real good deal for less than a nickel a day.
I think I'm going to take Scout (border collie) for a walk when the kitty crashes for her nap, she's gotta run out of gas pretty soon. At the moment I can hear her throwing the kitty litter against the side of the plastic box. Right now I have non clumping litter but bought the clumping variety for when this bag is gone. When I scoop out the kitty logs I see wet places and don't like that.
Gotta go check out the new house talk forums Dave gave us.
Good Afternoon, Folks. I actually got to play in the kitchen a bit this afternoon. Right now I have 8 mini loaves of banana bread in the oven. Recipe called for walnuts but I had some pecans still in the shell from when I visited IO1 in November. Shelling was a bugger but they are tasty. (A few had dried up a little, so using them was timely!) I haven't made banana bread in years, and never with this recipe. If it turns out, there will be some to share on the counter in the morning.
I had eight 5 pound bags of various flours in a cooler outside, awaiting my freezer to come back here from it's stay at AmaryllisGal's up the road (when we had no power). Apparently some moisture got in the cooler and they are all ruined. Bleeeck.
Darius,
ooooo, that sound so good. Sorry to hear about the flour,,,do you have a store scoped out yet to buy all your special goodies?
Kelly
Mary, I think I've read that book, also, but can't remember the name of it. Seems like I might have it packed up somewhere. I'll check and let you know.
Darius, glad you could use some of them. Actually, I was disappointed in them. :-( The place I got them had irrigation, so didn't expect them to be so dry. Go figure!
Okay, two things ...
1. I'm sorry for the above post. Wasn't upset or worried. Just commenting. :)
2. I am short and small framed, so just a few too many pounds can make a *big* difference. I *have* been too big, and therefore anm a bit focused on my weight. That's why I make a lot of comments. Thanks, y'all sure know how to boost an ego. LOL Glad I didn't post a behind the sceen pic. ;)
hehehe
101 I seen the picture too. Now you might think all these girls are being nice. But I am male and i thought you looked like pretty hot stuff there.
Oh I love banana bread and especially with pecans. I use a recipe from here posted by Terry I think. It has sour cream in it. I've tried many many recipes and hers is always moist and yummy.
After this mornings cleaning frenzie, I haven't done anything else!! Did the crossword (or I mean tried to do it) and the jumble, and dozed. It has been cloudy and gloomy. How do you say depressing.....They are promising sun tomorrow.
DH is out in the barn in a snit- we were invited to a wedding and orginally the 'men' weren't invited - which was great with him. However, things changed and they ARE invited and Mr. Antisocial doesn't want to go. Pass the 2x4 -quick. I need to knock some sense into him....this rotten weather is making me real testy......(I did notice he chose what dinner he wants...LOL)
I had a foul odor in the house and we finally tracked it down to a dirty diaper from taking care of the twins yesterday!! LOL I had forgotten all about it! phew- I need to light a couple of candles!
Leftovers for dinner tonight- then a piece of banana bread courtesy of Darius (sorry about the wet flour!)
Crazy cat is driving me nuts. Wants to go out, then 2 min later she is clawing at the screen to come in. We've done this about ten times. Don't know what her problem is today! Gonna give her some cat nip to take her mind off the out of doors.
