Does this count as the first of the day?
Actually, I finally got finished a LONG post on the old thread, looking back over the last three days.
Now I'll wish you all a good night over here and get to bed myself.
Ann
Ann, you did a *fine* job of catching up. LOL I could never do that ... even if I did have 2 browsers opened. I still wouldn't be able to remember what to comment on. ;) Good to see ya back. Thanks for explaining how you did those lanterns. Was wondering about that. You are very talented. Good luck with your concerts. Thanks for the compliment. And yes ... you're first! LOL LOL
Good night!
... Elaine
I see the two nightowls have beat me to the postings this morning! Slept like a log last night, Sammi decided to leave early and spent the night under the end table I think, which seems to be a favorite spot. Warmed up the kitty milk for him this morning, gave him a choice of crunchy or wet food. He picked the crunch, ignored the milk and science diet, ate a little, used the litter pan with a flourish and is now sittng on my lap.
I really have to get something done today, post office for sure since I didn't prepare for the stamp increase! In fact, I must have overlooked any announcement that they were going to go up, so it was a surprise. Still, where can you get a letter delivered from your doorstep to another's for under a half a buck? And postal workers do work hard, my SIL works for the PO, and they don't have any idle hands around there.
Susan, will your DH post for us so we know how you are doing? I'm sure our run of good luck will continue with your surgery, overlooking the slippyslidey thing on the stairs.....
No sunshine yet, but they said (you know the weather people they) we should have some this morning, followed by freezing rain and snow. My friend said she was out over the weekend planting some bulbs she forgot to get in. If I'd known we were getting a January thaw, I could have procrastinated even longer with mine!
Elaine, I saw your scanner on your thread, what a marvelous little device! Must save a world of surprises. It was nice to see your sweet face, too. I don't even try to imagine what anyone looks like, I'm always wrong.
Who's going back to gray....or easing in to it? I'm trying that as my last option to spending $20 bucks a throw at coloring and highlighting mine. My new hairdresser suggested using Nice and Easy as it is less permanent than other coloring. I have about half gray, and the remainder is ...........I dunno... brownish? GG, will that work? Then I could just lighten the dark stuff and let the gray be the highlights? No more perms. They never listen to me and I end up over processed and afro'd. Nobody will notice my hair, my butt will distract them!
Well, good morning to all, I can't possibly address everyone by name, but you know who you are, I'll check back later to see what's going on, but I need to get dressed and do something today besides chase a half pound fur ball around. Souky and Mini are getting more curious, and less hostile although there's still some hissing if he gets too brave and gets close to them. But they are sort of following him around to make sure he doesn't get into their food/toys/etc.
Later....
Sheila
Sheila it looks like life for you does include cats, I only have one now and a dog. When I get up at 5AM before I can even consider the thought of coffee I have a cat on my shoulder purring his head off. He has not seen me 5 minutes , he got up at the same time that I did... but first things first, pet the cat, let the dog out, feed the cat, feed the dog and last but not least sit down have coffee with my husband and read the paper, this morning get online. I forgot before BabyBoo has his meal he also has to give my husband his share of love meaning rubbing his face against my husband...such agood kitty. the dog goes back to sleep until 8 AM then he start barking at the squirrels.... never a dull moment in this house Baby boo showing off
That's pretty much the story here, feed the cats, get some smooches, and lastly, get coffee. And don't be late with breakfast, or they will come and breathe in your face.
Up until this summer, we had five siamese. Then, Hobbes went into renal failure, Max went back to live with my DS, finally, and just in December we lost my beloved Oskar. That left us with two females, Mini and Souky. So, Sammi is our new acquisition and has put the girl's noses severely out of joint. DH says they'll be fine as soon as they figure out he is a heat source, and then they'll all be sleeping in a kitty pile.
By the way, welcome to Coffee.....pour yourself a cup and see if anyone left any calorie-free cyber snacks on the counter. Everyone is welcome.....
Good morning,
No pets here now and DH says no more. We'll see. But for over 18 months we've been petless. Last cat was diabetic and twice a day we were ruled by the insulin injections. But she actually came for them - I think because she got extra cuddling. So our routine was inject the cat and then feed her. Never get dressed before doing that or you'd have a lap full of white belly hairs.
Re postal rate increases, dunno how they do it in the US, but up here, there's usually a small announcement buried in the back of a section of the newspaper. Never any discussion in Parliament. It infuriates me because you see Canada Post advertising on TV (big sponsor of the olympics last time),, sometimes in movies and as a sponsor of Festivals. Like we had any real alternative...
Anyway, I'm gonna skip aquafit and spend some time with my successor at the FC today. gotta get some solid practicing in and my students start again today. Not to mention that I should try to do something about the ridgerow of snow at the end of my driveway. I just drove through it yesterday several times. Got the rest of the driveway cleared off little by little, but not that. DH is a black pavement freak but he's in Paris, not here to help. I'm afraid the driveway would deteriorate rapidly if left to my care on a regular basis.
Have a good day.
Ann
Morning all been reading and reading so glad for Howie and Deb!!
Ann, some party!!
Elaine so glad for your new tools, enjoy!
M5 I see that your new pillows are going to a good use. lol.

Morning all
Well, I've got to get something done today. Will have to do double duty since I played all day yesterday. ;) Know what y'all mean about the furbaby's and their routines. My girl is sweet enough to let me have *one* cup of coffee ... but that's it. Then she wants breakfast and out. No point in trying to get her to go outside first. She just stands there waiting to be fed. She's a pig when it comes to food. LOL
orchidfancy, so good to have you come by. Here's an extra chair and the cups are up there in the cabinet. We just make ourselves comfy here and enjoy sharing a part of our lives. Your furbabies sound precious.
Ann, the only thing I have to worry about on my driveway are leaves, hicory nuts and acorns. It's a mess. This is squirrl heaven here. :)
Meezers hope Sammy is soon accepted by the rest of the kids. Bet they'll all love each other in no time flat.
Joy, great to see you today. Have fun!
Well, got to go sort clothes and get the 2X4 after that laundry monster again. Since I didn't do that yesterday will have to vacuum today, also. :-(
Hope everyone has a great day. ... Elaine
Morning Gobs and 'Ettes!
Waiting for Dave's big surprise! About 45 minutes to go, supposedly, then look North.
I have to do some laundry today too. Isn't there a laundry monster killer I can call?
Welcome orchidfancy! Great bunch of people at the table, dive in.
I set out yogurt today, 'Bananas Foster' flavored, really yummy. (I'm on Carb restriction again, *sigh*)
mg
off to the DR office for the latest round of MRI's. Bad night, lots of pain so DH is driving so I took some medication. will try to post later
hugs you guys!!!
Janis
What's this with a big surprise from Dave? How did I miss that? Oh dear...
Good AM to all.
Hap
Hap, check this out:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/566449/
Orchids kitty looks beautiful, what a lovely glossy coat. Just popped in to give you a quick peek at this morning's nap. Had to finally get off the couch and leave him tucked in nice and warm. No upchucks today, hope this is the wave of the future....That's one of my better winter scarves tucked around him.......sheeeeesh!
I'm going to be MIA for a while, lol, got lots of new stuff to explore!
I'm really liking this new layout so far.
mg
Joyous - how far are you from Ithaca? I did my undergrad work at IC. LOVE Ithaca.
OK - so what' in that link about Dave's announcement? How far down that LONG thread till I come to it? Does it have anything to do with the fact that I've clicked on two links so far and went to the Forum rather than the specific thread??
I've spent the morning so far cleaning out accumulated e-mail. The viola list has been yakking up a storm. Now I really need to get working.
Ann
Sheila, what a happy sleeping kittie!
Mg, haven't had time to check out the new stuff here on DG. Will be interesting tho.
I know what yo all say about the animals are King. They are 1st and we are 2nd in line, lol. My cats let me know they get fed 1st and my son 2nd around here. No if or but about it. Then they go outside.
Well, I did it yesterday. I booked that Hawaii trip for us all so am very excited!!! Am going in May so now I have 8-10 pounds to lose by then to be able to be presentable in a swimsuit!
A couple years ago after my divorce, I had lost weight and was looking so so good. But then meno. took over and I have gained more weight than before.
So it is very frustarting as you all know. So need to be able to get outside to work in the gardens to lose this weight but this dang rain, rain, rain won't stop here. We have even had many landslides in Portland, Oregon due to this constant rain.
So still am looking for tips on Hawaii from you all please.
Later, Carol (DR)(the even one)
The link connection has been fixed - there are lots of new forums to get started on now - many of the new ones are open to all, but the original ones are still restricted to subs. It will take a bit of getting used to, but in the long run, it should be just wonderful.
Mezzer : what can I say the best for the best, and they do know what is good. I gave up one of my old mohair sweater to BabyBoo so he can lay in it . Plus he has his own chair a butterly type, plus the dog's bed at will. The dog pile's himself on the pillows on the couch . Rought life as you see to be a dog or a cat. My neighboor long time ago told me that if there was such thing as reincarnation she want's to come back as one of my pets.... They are a bit spoiled, but aren't they all?
Today I have to finish a project for a client , I had this project for a while and it is not the most exiting project that I ever undertook. I hate the fabric , I hate the chairs but it is for me to do and not to decide. So I must move on so I can reclaim my space. I dont want those chairs to become part of the scenery they are too ugly. It is beautifull outside right now and I will devote one hour of my time to rake the leaves and clean the front yard. I have to wait for my husband to help me with my chair project I ran into a snag.
Yesterday was good I finally finished my raised flower bed by the sun room finished and I got all the bulbs planted and covered with mesh to discourage the squirrels. (I didnt have any pine needles available) So I am real happy I wanted this to be finished a month ago.
Dozzie on his pillows.
TGIF It bothers me any of these forums being open to all. I am afraid of what it will bring in. I have rambled all over the internet when I was a volunteer for the Cyber Angels. I know what is out there. Daves Garden is a nice Place I do not want to see that change at all.
Only the new forums created on the "HomeTalk" Tab are open to all.
mg
Gayle I understand the need forv Daves Garden to open these forums but I still am not comfortable with it. I would do the same in there place. But there are people out there that are not nice. I know they have very good controls here. but I stil wish it could be all closed
Non members can only read main forums, (I hope I understand this correctly) but cannot get into individual threads, nor can they respond. They can't read member lists or addresses, or see your personal info. I feel very safe here, as opposed to open chat rooms on the internet. Others who have been members longer than me can probably tell you more. Try posting it as a question in the General Discussion for more info.
Per Dave:
The new forums that are created, will (for now) be open to non-subscribers and subscribers alike. Let me make it clear, however, that all forums that existed before today will continue to remain subscriber-only and that will not change.
mg
That is not my understanding Meezerfive. My understanding is they opened new forums with full access. I would be the first one in line to support the safety of Daves.
It is snow snow snowing!!! Hooray for the snow!
Susan
=^..^=
ozarkian - watch the thread about the new format. I have asked about your (and my) concern. I know the existing forums are protected, but I also know that if I post to one of the new forums I'm likely to forget that it isn't protected and enter something that I shouldn't. All in all, I think the new format will be great! Let's see what Dave can come up with.
TGIF there you go that is my whole thing. Just never go bto those places and give anyone your real addy. I do not care how nice they sound.
You guys, know what I do when I post a new thread.
I tell everyone to see the next post (2nd post) then. So the non-subscribers don't know what I am asking or writing. My understanding is that they can read the 1st post but not beyond that.
My beef is that they can D-mail us and I do not like that at all! Have had a few request that I don't like.
Carol (DR)(the even one)
Susan we are getting rain here but we are under winter warning and it looks like both of us are going to see wet weather thru most of the week. Suppose to get warm one dasy though then drop back into this stuff.
I wouldn't like it either Carol. Let's address the problems over on Dave's thread and see if we can get it all sorted out. I really would feel better knowing where I'm safe and where I'm "on display".
This is *still* the best site ever! Just need to sort some things out.
ginni
I did not know they could D Mail anyone. I am sure Daves Organization does everything possible to protect you all. The rest is up to YOU. Thats about all I can say about it.
I am going to enjoy the snow today, tomorrow it will be back to dry and 62. LOL
Here is a picture looking out the window by my computer. I have set up a bird feeding area on the window ledge and used a trellis that I had for my hyacinth bean vine for the suet/seed.
Wish you could see the snow flakes falling over the pond but they don't show up well. But my little bird friend does.
Susan
=^..^=
I have been dmailed by non members about seed trades. Oh dear, I better be more careful I guess.
Susan
=^..^=
Yeah, "members/non-subs" have the ability to Dmail. I have gotten several seed trade requests from non-subs, and actually had one very bad trade before I learned to just click on their name and see if they were a sub. Now I don't trade unless it is with a sub. Questions from non-subs I try to briefly answer, but if it is a question relating to a thread where they can't see the responses I am even briefer, lol. If they want the info bad enough, they can pay just like everyone else. Anything other than that, I just ignore them.
mg
Susan, I can't believe you are getting so much snow, lol, we are bare again up here. I love your little titmouse, they are so cute. Altho mine aren't eating my house LMBO!!!
mg
Just tell me what has changes at DG? Must be something I never use either that or I am in second speed
