LOL @ Elaine,,,,,it was the Margarita's I tell ya,,,LOL
Kelly
Just glad that you weren't driving, last night. LOL.
Well, Mr. B and I are heading off to bed. I have started a journal for the new year, but I think I will add today's entries tomorrow morning.
A good restful night to all, see you in the morning.
Elaine,
LOL,,,,I'm not That bad,,,used to be worse,,,have settled Way down,,,LOL
dcat,
nightie night. Are you using your DG journal? Or a private one?
Kelly
Remember Debbie, she is having surgery at 8:30. We need to rally around her. and lift her up in our prayers.
Susan
=^..^=
Susan,
What is she having surgery on??? You mean DebbiesDaisy right?
Kelly
Casey (Carat), you asked about spring houses. Here are a couple of links with some information and photos. Sounds like you have an ideal spring for a spring house! I used to love going into the spring house for butter or milk.
Lizh has a concrete deep sink on her back porch in the mountains and their spring is piped through it. They keep sodas cold in the sink.

Pain meds and typing don't mix... posted this on wrong thread so I just copied and pasted it here. Sorry
Morning all..... I am the clumbiest person ever to walk the face of the earth, I believe. Went to the bathroom yesterday, and proceeded to fall down the steps. Not head over heels fell, but my feet went out from under me and my behind hit the steps and bump
bump
bump
bump I went. Thinking about it now, it was probably one of the funniest things to see, but of course it wasn't funny to me. The worst part (other than hurting my pride) was that I was holding on to the railing with, you guessed it, my left arm. :(( So I was on my rear at the bottom of the stairs, and my arm was twisted behind me, about 4 steps up :( Now my enire shoulder is swollen. gonna call the DR in a little bit, soon as the offices open.
Stayed up way too late last night Jeff wanted to rent the Wrestling pay per view. I watched but all my guys I root for lost :(( But it was still nice to look at them LOL.
1GG, glad to see you are feeling better, and D-cat, glad to hear things are looking up there also. Hope your mom's tailbone is ok, nothing they can do for that, except maybe a donut? I don't know.
Love the new kitten...... makes me want one, but would have to get rid of Zoe (which isn't such a bad idea, since she refuses to use the litter box, and leaves her mess right outside it) Stupid cat LOL
Thanks for the pics Elaine, nice to put a face with the names :)
Ok, I have typed too long, my fingers are numb on my left hand so I'll check in later.
Hugs to all
Janis
Morning all!! Went to bed with sweats/socks on and woke up drenched - fever!! Took some meds and feel better this morning, just out of sorts. I am going to the huff/puff and afterwards to a lunch at a gal that works out too. She lives in a McMansion, so it will be fun to see how the other half lives. Think I will come home jealous??? you bet!! But if I start feeling cruddy, I'm coming home.
Woof- ouch - I feel your pain. I have done the same thing 3 times...My arse was totally black the last time I did it (and I showed it off too!!) Now I slow down and watch what I'm doing. I am always trying to do three things at once!
LOL Darius a red neck - strip off that shirt and get a girly tan!! What ya gonna do with a week by yourself? Probably be on here right?
GG - I laughed at that date yesterday too. It did screw me up - I only look at the 'day' not the date!
Hello to everyone else!! Good luck to Howie and his surgery today...
Hi there!
m5~ we have no sun in the forecast for the foreseeable future, but boy your kitty is a day brightener!!
scooterbug~ your sammie is gorgeous, and what a great picture!!
Casey~Is the farm deal done yet? i hope you're feeling better, I have a caffeine addiction too. I can't imagine cutting out caffeine. Somehow it's odd to think of Las Vegas having a past to preserve! But I agree we are a throwaway society, including our history
Kelly, my goodness, it sounds likeyou got a lot done yesterday!
Ann~I hope your'e not getting a cold.
darius ~ THANK YOU for those links on spring houses, now I am sure that is what is at the farm...I went inside last week and it was lined with shelves. THere's too much stuff on the floor to see what it had originally been like. It looks just like the pics though and is the only stone building on the farm and is right outside the kitchen door!!
I CAN'T IMAGINE sun right now, much less sunburn.
YAY for going to HAwaii!! send lots of pictures!!
And for the greenhouse!! I should add the pics to my "inspiration" folder. It is so pretty to have a greenhouse mad out of real windows.
dcat~ you and your DM andDMIL are in my prayers still, what a lot you all have been through.
Prayers for those who are ill, for Howie, Susan, and those facing surgery.
Have a great day, and those who have sun...remind us what it's like once in awhile!!
woofens--I'm so sorry about your fall. I know you are hurting. I did that once but tore up my knee instead of my shoulder. Please keep us posted on how you feel.
I'm anxious to hear about Howie today.
And Susan, you know I am already praying for you.
I've done something to my back. I am having a hard time finding out what I CAN do. I don't know if it's going to hurt until after I've tried it. I am really ready to start the pain management. My two recent surgeries were so extensive that we can't do any more for a while. My back hurt yesterday pretty badly, but this morning it's worse and almost is hurting to breathe. Any little twitch is awful. Sorry to sound like a wus, 'cause really I'm not, but I've had no relief from pain since last April and May. I've taken what I call the "big drugs" this morning and am headed for my recliner, which has one of those big heating and vibrating pad thingies.
Hope all of you are having wonderful days. Thanks for the coffee this morning. I had to eat my own bagel though. What's up with that?
Diane
Morning everyone
Well, it's warmer here today ... 57 already with the sun shining so it should prove to be a pretty day. I received some sunflower seeds from Defoe and can't wait to get them out. I have seeds everywhere! When oh when can we start planting? I need one of those green houses! ;)
Janis, so sorry to hear about your fall. Ouch! Hope you get hold of the doc today and can get something for the pain.
Meezers, I don't blame you a bit. I'd have let the little guy sleep with me too. Hmmm, don't know what my DH would have said ... but Sammy sounds like such a cutie. :)
Defoe, sorry to hear your MIL had to have that tube put in, but now maybe she'll start mending. Oh gosh, and your DM ... sorry to hear she's in pain. Better get that heating pad out. LOL
Well, guess I'd better get up from here. It's a Monday, afterall. Y'all have a good one. Will check in later. Am staying close to see what news there is on Howie and also Debbie.
... Elaine
Hi 1GG ... we posted at the same time. Sure hope your back starts feeling better soon. Take care of yourself and stay in that recliner today. Maybe the heat/vibrator thingie will help. You got any extra room? Move over! Ah, now there's a chair! LOL
Okay, who complained about having to eat their own bagel. I invited you all over this moring, with an unlimited breakfast menu, just to come help me clean. BTW, nobody showed up, what's up with that?
Sounds like a train wreck happened last night, sure glad I missed that train.
Prayers for Debbie who is having surgery.
dmc, could that structure be a cellar? Right outside the kitchen door, but maybe they built the house by the spring so it would be convenient.
Woofens, sorry about your fall. Let us know if you get in touch with the Dr.
Sarv, did you use vicks on your feet last night? Maybe you sweated out the fever. Hope you are on the mend.
gardengram, sorry about your back pain. You just stay in the recliner, and when you need/want something, holler, and I'll fetch it for you.
101 your weather sounds good. The sun is shining here, and we are supposed to be in the 60's today.
I have done 2 loads of laundry, DH ran the sweeper for me, and I have dusted and cleaned the bathrooms, and the kitchen floor, so I am off to a good start. DMIL, slept all night last night, and the Dr. said that they may put a chest tube in the other lung, but that she is definately on the mend. DM is feeling better this morning, so maybe everything is getting better.
GardenGeek, my journal is a personal one, not DG. I started last year just jotting notes when something significant happened. This year I am recording weather, events etc. Almost like a diary. When your memory starts to go, I have found it helpful to have a record of things. Then I can just flip back through it and find it.
Well, need to make a run to the post office, you know postage went up, and have several things to mail. Will check in later to see how everyone is feeling.
Meezer, what a cutie. You started him out right, sleeping with you, had you shut him away he would have been traumatized for life.
M5, that looks like a very cute bundle of trouble to me!!
Dcat if it is a chipped tailbone the only thing you can do for it is get one of those cushions with a hole in the middle - like an inflatable loo seat!! It takes the pressure of the affected area - been there - done that!
Woofens - been there, done that too!! LOL I feel your pain.
Now this hurling yourself down things is contagious, last time someone started the bug we were all at before long so watch out everyone.
GW do hope all is going well for Howie - we are all rooting for him, and you!! Its harder to watch your loved ones going through the mill than it is to handle it yourself isn't it.
Susan, hope you are back with us soon too. Left handed will work - its just slower - and we aren't picky about typos. Thinking about it thats just as well cos I make loads with two hands. LOL
Maria give Samson a hug from me - I haven't hugged him for a while.
Darius what are you going to get up to while Molly and Jeremy are away? I can't imagine you will just sit on your BTM and do Nowt.
Everyone I haven't mentioned have a great day and hope all the aches pains and sweats disappear. I read everything, but if I commented on it all I would still be typing at midnight! (((GOBs))))
Carol
The Odd One - though I would become even if I could sneak off to Hawaii!!!!
There are almost hourly updates on Howie's surgery here:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/566597/
Carol, you are right. I cannot do naught while they are gone painting! Today I've done a take-off (pricing) materials list for the siding/trim, and one for the roofing/trim. Looks like we will finish this building for around $15-$16 a square foot, including thermopane window and door, pre-finished metal roofing with trim and Hardiplank siding and trim. That figure may include paint for the siding and insulation, too but I haven't priced those items yet.
Now I'm off to the post office and then to the big town to explore. : )
Well, I just took a break and checked the thread Darius linked us to. Have been thinking about Howie, Kim and Dea all morning. Hope it is still going well.
The run to the post office took an errant turn, and ended up being gone about an hour. Oh well, it wasn't wasted.
Finally finished cleaning, and now starting preps for supper. DH invited DS and girl friend for supper, so I hadn't counted on that. It is fried rabbit tonight for the guys, and chicken for the gals. I will fix it, but don't want to eat the game.
Somewhere, I got disorganized. I usually do house cleaning in a sequential way. Today,I have pulled out more stuff than I am putting away. What's up with that? I found some bills that I had stuffed in the desk, when unannounced, unexpected company came one night last week. So put them out to work on later.
Well, it will not get done with me sitting here.
Hello to everyone, and hope all are feeling better.
bbl
Hello everyone. I've been checking the progress of Howie's surgery and having a laugh now and then at Dea and Kim cutting up in the waiting room and hallway. (bad pun I know). OOO, I just wonder if all the prayers shorted out some of the hospital wiring.
I hope somebody will let us know about Debbie, maybe Shoe?
Janis, ouch, you've gotta be more careful. Another customer for that heating pad. Everybody else watch your step, there's only so much room.
Today, maybe, we will be making a quick trip to Salem to take Fritz back to his family. I'm waiting for my hubby to call and let me know if it will be today or tomorrow. That depends on how crazy his day is today. Meanwhile, I've showered and done a bit of packing, arranged with the neighbor to be on standby for chores, and I'm waiting. AmandaPanda is doing well, but she will be parked at the vet's for a couple of days whenever we go. They board animals as well as doctoring them there, and it's time for her shots anyhow.
I was thinking about taking something out of the freezer for dinner, but didn't because I'm thinking that it's a good excuse for dinner out if I'm not prepared to cook at home this evening if we don't make our trip until tomorrow. It's an overnight trip. Hubby mentioned that there is a boat show in Portland and that would be fun to go to on our way home. No, we aren't thinking about buying a boat, hubby just loves to window shop. We've been there, done that, and learned that a boat is a hole in the water that you pour money into.
Fritz and the kitten were playing a lively game of tag this morning. AmandaPanda runs out from under the dining room table and he chases her into another hiding place, then after he seems to loose interest she runs back. Now he's sleeping and she is playing with a wad of paper. She ignores the catnip mouse I got for her but likes Fritz' old tennis ball. Her eye is still a bit cloudy but way better than it was when we started putting ointment in it a couple of weeks ago. The older cat is pretty much ignoring her now so that is a relief. I introduced them slowly so the older cat wouldn't be jealous. Last year when our son and daughter in law were here with their cats, my cat hated the female cat and would beat up on her whenever she got a chance, so I didn't want that to happen with the kitten who is also female.
Everybody have a good day. I might not be here for a couple of days.
Hi All,

I'll check in later,
Kelly
Took all my break times today to catch up. Came in to work today and now I can't wait for this last hour to be overwith. I could go to sleep right here on the keyboard.
Just wanted to say a quick "thinking of you" to all those with surgeries, aches, pains etc. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
Elaine - It was so nice to see your picture. Now I'll see that everytime I read your posts.
M5 - What a cutie patootie! Give him some smoochies for me!
See ya all later. I doubt I'll be back on when I get home. Planning on hitting the pillow.
Kimberley here: Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone. We're still waiting. It's been a long day! See the Hopkins or Bust threads for updates. I'm wondering how Debbie's doing, too.
Been following the 'howie' blurbs all day - hope they can zip him up pronto!!
I went to lunch at a masion today (gal I met at the work out joint) I have never been in such a gorgeous place. She is a painter, beautiful quilter, and an outstanding decorator. My poor head kept going round and round looking at everything. She served the most deliciious brunch too - asparagas-ham quiche, grape salad (to die for!) sweet breads and dessert - plus mimosa's. I left with a stuffed tummy. I had seconds and really wanted thirds - everything was so delicious!! I don't think I will invite her over here = I'll take her out to a restaurant!! LOL
I'm feeling much better - don't know what was the matter last night....I still feel a little chilled, but I think it is just this damp weather..(no sun again today!)
In fact, I think I need a mug of hot cocoa to warm my innards!! Take care everyone...especially Howie
Hi all,
I've been reading all the posts and trying to catch up with everyone, but by the time I got through things got a little scrambled. Apologies up front to anyone I don't address personally (or get mixed up with somebody else).
Good thoughts and wishes going out to everyone who's suffering from physical ailments both in and out of the hospital.
D'cat, glad to hear that things are looking up for both your Mom and MIL. It's hard enough to deal with one being severely ill, but both at the same time is a really heavy burden to bear.
Ann, glad your party went well. I assume you must have special molds for those ice lanterns. (Now I suppose you're going to tell us that you made the molds too, right?)
I can't imagine having that many people around! I don't think that we could fit that many in this house even if we actually KNEW that many to begin with!
M5 I have kitten envy! The three cats who currently live here are probably not anxious to add a fourth, though. We are thinking about adopting another soon, but it will likely be another shelter rescue. I do feel good about adopting from a shelter, but it would be nice to be able to afford a Bombay, Burmese, or Maine Coon just once. The last is what DH really, really wants (or he'd settle for a Norwegian Forest cat as they're somewhat similar.)
I'm goofing off at the moment. I have a duckling roasting in the oven and it will take long enough that I don't have to worry about getting the rest of the meal together just yet. We very seldom have anything like that on the menu, but DH spotted it when we went grocery shopping at BJ's last time and wanted something different for a change. Normally I stick with fish, skinless chicken, and 93% lean hamburger because of my mother's low fat diet, but all of us crave a change once in a while.
Darius, good to see all the progress you and Molly are making on her property and I'm glad to hear that your lungs are feeling better. Thanks to your advice on trimming the roots of my rosemary plant and repotting in the same pot (and the addition of a growlight) it actually seems to be growing---not just barely keeping alive. I'm planning on posting a picture of it if I ever remember to bring my camera home. The *&%$ mealybugs are still a problem and some of the inner foliage seems to be succumbing to mildew despite my running a small fan directed at the plant, but it looks pretty healthy overall.
Still trying to climb up out of the seasonal blues here. Someday soon I may actually finish counting $$ for my store inventory and move on to trying to catch up with needed work on my websites instead! Just finished a repair on a ring that someone ordered for Xmas. The thing ended up in two pieces, but after talking to a tech where I bought the gold, I'm hoping that it will stand up to the customer's wear and tear this time. I've got my fingers (and toes) crossed, because if it fails again I'll have to order another $100.00 worth of gold and cover the cost myself plus do all the work over again with no reimbursement.
DH went out today and bought me two more grow lights. They were the top item on my short Xmas list, but he never got out to the place where they were available before the holidays, so my holiday has been extended! I wanted them particularly so that I could have a selection of culinary herbs through the winter, but they might also come in handy for the garden seeds that I have to start before the greenhouse is warm enough through the nights to keep seedlings alive.
Guess that's it for now, I'd better go finish dinner preparations. Good night everyone.
Yeah, me too. Nitey nite.
Dea great news about Howie doing very well!!!
Just got the update (via Shoe) that Debbie is very well TOO!!!
What a great day for all!!
Hello coffee love and miss you all have been lurking as usual but wanted to say WHIPPEE such great news for our two surgeries today!!!
Anne
Magoo beat me to it. LOL
Just wanted to let you all know that Shoe talked to Deb and she is feeling great. She took a nap after walking out of the hospital and is feeling better then she expected. Hopefully this means that all of our groups aches and pains are on the road to recovery.
Woofens, thank your lucky stars I didn't have the video camera cause I would have filmed it and sent it in for my chance at Funniest Home Videos. I hope that your shoulder didn't get to messed up with the trick thought. I can laugh because about 3 years ago while at a friends house, I was getting ready to walk down the stairs as the lights went out, I missed the step and slid down about 8-9 steps before coming to a stop. My rear end was black and blue for weeks and I could sit for almost as long. I wish you a quick recovery.
McCool, so great to see you again.
Gosh, I forgot everything else I wanted to say. Darn Male moments.....
Casey
Omigosh, didn't get here all day, kitten is glued to me when he's not puking up his breakfast, lunch, dinner, or whatever. I'm attributing it to stress/change of environment, as he's not feverish, and plays like crazy when he's awake...and not puking. I picked up some kitten replacement milk today, and he had some tonight, and so far, so good. I think he might still have been nursing more than ditzy catmom realized. He follows me around like he's on an invisible leash....and purrs constantly when I hold him.
So happy to hear good news about Howie, and Debbie! Let's hope Susan's surgery goes as well. And sorry about Janis's slide down the steps....hope it doesn't start a trend, we've had enough on the last go round! Someone suggested a donut for sitting, and I think that's the only relief for a dented cocyx (sp?) but I'd pass on getting the medical supply store to get one, go to a fabric shop and get a foam pillow and cut a hole in the middle! It really hurts when you sit on a dented tailbone.
You all have been so busy, cleaning house and all. I got zip done today, and then got a surprise visit from a dear friend and her daughter so we wasted a couple hours chatting and playing with Sammi. Made ham sandwiches for dinner...LOL....DH came home and played with Sammi....our flexible schedule has just gotten even more flexible! That's ok, there's more important things than housework and cooking.
McCool, duck sounds fabulous, I love roast duck. Rarely have it. Like it best when I don't have to cook it... LOL Sarv, Dcat, VAnn,
Maria, Susie, GG, everybody, sorry I've been neglecting DG, but you know how it is with a new baby....
Gotta go baby's crying....................
Hi everyone. I have some good news too.
The vet called about Pepper's last test and her liver is functioning normally. So now we need to figure out what is causing her numbers to be high on the other test but he isn't really very worried about her now. She is acting like a puppy lately, wanting to play and runs, jumps and wants to go for a ride. Something must be making her feel better, maybe the LD food or the Denosyl medicine or the new vitamins. I am so glad that she will be better so I won't have to worry about that after my surgery on Friday.
Also, Snowcone is getting better. He is back to wrestling with Furrbee and his eyes are seldom jerky. I am still not letting him go outside and he is very put out (but not outside LOL) about that. I might let him out tomorrow if his eyes are completely normal. We might get a little snow tonight, hope, hope, hope, any moisture would be wonderful.
Getting nervous about the surgery, but everyone else's surgeries have been great, so why not mine?
So happy about Howie and Debbie. !!!
I still have so much to get done before I can't do anything after Friday. The aquarium filters need to be changed and the water needs to be changed. I still need to get my Valentine swap seed packets done and my getting to know you things ready for that box. Lots and lots. LOL
Well, just wanted to add my news to all the good things today.
Susan
=^..^=
Susan, I am sure that your surgery is going to go great just like Deb and Howie's. I always get really nervous the closer it gets to a surgery or major procedure day. We will be here praying for you so be sure to tell DH to check in and let us know how you are.
Casey
Well, I haven't gotten a *thinkg* done all day today. Been bouncing back and forth from all the forums trying to keep up with Howie and Kim. So glad the surgery is over, and we can now start praying for a quick recovery. Was also thrilled to hear about Debbie. Had been wondering how she was doing. Thanks so much for posting.
McCool, your duck sounds wonderful. Don't think I've ever had it except for one time I went to a Chinese restaurant and they had crispy duck on the menu. It got my currosity up, so I ordered it. Wasn't bad.
Meezers, sounds like you have your hands full. Sooo sweet ... and yes, there certainly are more important things.
Maria, was good to see you posting today. Please give Samson a big hug for me, also. I'm needing a Samson fix. Haven't heard any of his stories lately. :)
Mary, will miss seeing your post. Hope you have a safe trip. Wish I could keep Amanda Panda for you. I know how hard it can be to leave our furbabies, even if it is time for their shots.
1GG, sure hope you're feeling better tomorrow.
Susan, try not to worry. We're all hear praying and pulling for you. Everything will be just fine.
Well, gee ... I can't remember what else I'm suppose to be commenting on so I'll just say hi to everyone. Hope all have a good night and the aches and pains will be better in the morning.
Hugs&blessings ... Elaine
Hi All,
Just a quick check in before I call it a night.
So glad to hear Howies surgery we so well and now to hear Debbie's did too,,,,great news!!!!
suzie,
Why is it that the last hour is always the worst????? LOL
sarv,
Glad to hear you are feeling better,,,,,Lunch in a mansion?? Wow,,,,How was it seeing how the other half lives???? LOL
McCool,
Hope you get over those blues soon,,,they stink!!!!! I so hope the ring is good so you don't have to do more for it,,,,grrrr Good for you with the grow lights!!!! I wanna get some too,,,,
mags,
Thanks for the news on Debbie,,,good to hear!
Casey,
Ouch
gram,
Hope you're back is feeling better.
M5,
ooo, your new little one sounds so sweet,,,must be hard getting stuff done though when he's underfoot all the time,,,he'll get over it.
Susan,
So glad to hear Pepper's results came back good. Also glad to hear Snowcone's eyes are doing better! Youre surgery will be fine,,,does DH know how to post on DG to let us know how everything is going? You understand,,,we'll NEED to know!!!!
Elaine,
Sometimes a person needs days like that.
Well, off to get the new daily up.
Nity, Nite All.
Kelly
The new Daily is up in the Parking Lot,,, here's the link if anyone needs it. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/566981/
Nity Nite All and sweet dreams,
Kelly
Well, supper went well. Guys had the rabbit, and gals had chicken. Mashed potatos, gravy, biscuits, and green beans. Not a full menu but adequate.
Well, read a little tonight, looked at all my "watched forums", glad to see Howie did well with his surgery. Kittymom, don't worry about the surgery, we are all here, wearing our DG tee shirts, and will be waiting and watching for a word from your DH. Now please instruct him how to get on this forum. Tell him that there are several women/men who will take turns using the official DG 2x4 on him if he doesn't report!! He might be in worse shape than you are when we finish with him!!LOL
Mary, don't you just hate it when you have to leave your fur kids? I had found a groomer who was going to keep Mr. B for me when we took a short trip. But that was cancelled because of BIL's lose of DM, and now by DH's mother's surgery. We may get away before planting time. This groomer has 8 poms who yip yip all the time, I don't know how Mr. B. will relate to them, but I am going to give it a try at least once. I wish I was closer, I would watch Amanda-Panda for you. Some of you may remember that DGD took our calico cat Patches home with her. She is doing well, as she knows DGD, and loves her. She is trying to make her an entirely house cat, where she has been used to going in and out. Good luck on that one. Ex-DIL had promised a kitty for christmas, but decided that they would do better with a more mature cat. Patches is 5 years old and weighs a whopping 19 pounds. When she first saw her, her only response was an open mouth, and a "Oh my God look"! She is intimidating looking, but a real sweetie.
Latest update, DMIL was moved from intensive care this afternoon, and is doing well. Not much more drainage from the chest tube, so is breathing well. The Dr. said that if everything goes well, that she will be transferred the last of the week to a rehab facility. DM, is a little more comfortable with the tailbone issue, so maybe everyone is on the mend. Oh I sure hope so.
Darius, how did the exploring the big city go? Tell us what treasures you found.
Well, I am going to bed shortly. I have an appointment at the hair dressers tomorrow, going to get a highlight and cut. Since I am becoming more grey, I am going to get a grey highlight, so that I can transition to totally grey in the future. Gardengeek, wish I was closer, I would give you my bucks to do this for me.
Well nighty night all, hope for a restful, dreamless sleep for all.
dcat,
Glad to hear both DM and MIL are doing better. Your supper sounds great. Don't need tons of food,,,,would go for leftovers anyway.
Wish you were closer also,,,would Love to do your hair for you.
Nite Gracie.
Kelly
Well heading out to pick up DH from the airport. It is about a 45 minute drive from the house with good traffic.
Defoe, it is so good to hear that both DMIL and DM are doing so well. I am with you on the grey highlights and letting nature start to take its course. I am losing the battle of keeping it at bay so I might as well accept it and enjoy the extra money I might save. LOL
Mary, have a good and safe trip.
Susan, so good that Peppers test came back with a good result. Now a couple more days for Snowcone and no more sick animals or people for a while for you.
Hey all did I miss something or is Julie missing in action????
I better get going, nite all, sleep with the angels everyone.
Casey
Hi Defoe
So glad to hear things are beginning to calm down a bit for you. Sure am relieved to know the MIL will be moved out of ICU tomorrow. That's just wonerful news.
I ment to comment on the great gift of grow lights earlier and forgot. What a great present. Sounds like everyone is set ... what with greenhouses and grow lights.
Karot, when did you say you were leaving on that trip? If you need a chaperone ... I'm available. LOL I tell all the nieces and nephews I'm the aunt to take on their trips. Can't see a thing! LOL LOL
Sarv, oh my goodness ... that would have made me *nervous*. I would probably eat with the wrong fork or trip over my feet or something. That's wonderful, though. Sounds like you had a nice day. I bet she'd love to come to your house. Probably gets all the "going out" she wants to and would love to just sit in someone's kitchen and talk.
Well, let me go. Y'all have a good night.
Hugs ... Elaine
Hi There,
OK, I said I would back up to Saturday and reread for what I missed.
Sarv - you MIL sounds like a real character when you take her to the Dr.
Here's the hummous recipe:
2 cans of chick peas
2 cloves garlic
juice of 2 lemons
1-2 tbsp olive oil for consistency
cumen, cayenne, salt and pepper to taste
Sometimes I add parsley or cilantro. Sometime roasted egg plant and roasted onion and garlic too. When I make it for us, I use an industrial sized can of chick peas and freeze the hummous. I've also been known to add Wasabi powder.
I always rinse my beans with warm water. I think they puree better it they are a bit warm and they say that soaking liquid will give you gas. Don't know whether canned beans are cooked in the soaking liquid, but I bet they are.
--------------------------------------------
I hope you and DH settled your differences from Saturday.
tgif - your DH sounds perfect.
Do you have that blueberry pancake batter often. Afraid I missed it on Saturday, but I want some the next time, please.
dmc - you're not that far south of here but it was a lot warmer on Saturday then here. Interesting that there should be so much difference.
MaryE - nice to hear about the new house for DS and DIL. I hope they have many happy years in it.
okus - so sorry to hear about the damage to your oak tree. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the root ball hasn't been damaged beyond repair and maybe it will come back in the spring. Some rocks between it and the street sounds like a good idea to me.
jasmerr - join the club on deleting long posts. Maybe we should make a virtual plaque somewhere with the names of us who have done that. (reminds me to perhaps copy this one into my Word Processor soon.)
darius - glad to finally took some time off.
defoecat - so glad to hear that DMIL was doing better. Seems to me you said they did put in a tube later. Hope that works well and that she continues to heal.
Re Kelly and the Margaritas - she says she got them at my party which she crashed. (See operation Tailfeather on UMW forum) I say if she had Margaritas, she was at the wrong party. LOL
Sarv, the clean-up wasn't too bad. Finger food and paper plates takes most of it. I generally choose stuff which isn't TOO likely to be dropped all over the floor, but my carpets are due for a cleaning anyway. The major washing up was serving trays too large for the dishwasher and cookie sheets from the things I warmed in the oven.
We found, upon mopping up in the entry hall that the black rubber backing on my carpet mat had deposited itself all over the floor. (Obviously the cleaning lady hadn't tried to clean under it for quite a long time. As I told you, her standards have been slipping. I'm not too sad to let her go when I retire.) So the mat was retired to the garbage and I found a new one today.
I've heard of those corn pellet stoves. They are supposed to be quite efficient. But I bet they wouldn't heat a whole house in Canada.
How does Martha Stewart make yogurt? I used to make it in a large mixing bowl in the oven. (Years ago. Don't know if I still have the recipe).
Got an e-mail from my sister. Nephew - 21 (I think or 22), plowed into a tree on his snowboard and badly broke his left leg for the second year in a row. You'd think he'd learn after awhile. I think she's exasperated with him because he's got just high school diploma (and that was a struggle). So he's been working the kind of jobs that he won't be able to do for a long time with this sort of injury.
Susan - glad Snowcone seems better. Hope you get to the bottom of Pepper's problems if his test was OK.
Gardenwife and Sarv - I need to be watching the calories also. Think I'll report back to the Weight-loss challenge thread this week. But I still have goodies left from the party. Not all bad, mind you - shrimp (I forgot one shrimp ring in the fridge), some meatballs - made with extra-lean ground beef and lots of cut up carrots, broccoli, caulflower and peppers. But I've also got an assortment of exotic cheeses and a number of sweets. I have to work my way through a certain amount of the cheeses and sweets before I'm ready to really start the diet.
Casey, DH might have to get used to putting on some warmer clothing. It's STILL a lot warmer in SC than here. LOL Great going with the loss of 5 pounds.
BTW, they didn't stay in the spa very long on Christmas day. But I think DSIL and DD use it after the kids are in bed. It's one of the few things that will get DS away from the computer or TV.
Elaine - the party lanterns needed only the mold (which we bought), water, cold temperatures and time. DD had another mold; so I had two. They take nearly a day to freeze. And I had to store them in extra freezer space at the FC because mine isn't big enough. Once they are fully frozen, they take about 30 minutes at room temperature and then filling the middle of the old with warm water to get them out. Really simple if you aren't in a hurry.
Nice to see the picture of you and your girl. You've talked about your size so much I pictured you as much heavier than the photo shows. Been a long time since I've been that slender.
daisyruffles - a trip to Hawaii?? When? What fun. Hope you have a wonderful time.
Susan - those fires sound really frightening. Hope you get some moisture soon.
Maria - somehow I missed who in your relationship has prostrate cancer even in a 2nd read through the threads back to Saturday. Maybe he and DH should get together. DH is in the process of deciding which treatment option to follow and is leaning towards the surgery. For us there will be about a 3 month wait for the surgery.
M5 - I've really enjoyed the pics and stories of Sammi. Keep them coming.
1gardengram - welcome back. I hope your recent surgeries were fully successful.
woodspirit1 - LOVE the green house. Wish I had one.
Kelly - I have a couple of Access manuals in pdf format on a CD from a course I took. D-mail me and I might be able to figure out how to share them with you.
Janis - so sorry to hear about your fall. I sure hope that you didn’t do your shoulder any more serious damage.
dmc - I DO seem to have a very mild cold. Or, just possibly allergies. But so far, nothing serious.
I hope the surgeries went well for all who were having them today. I guess we’ve had good reports on Howie’s. How about the others?
Okus - you’re right about the chipped or cracked tailbone. I did something to mine when I gave birth the first time. Couldn’t sit properly for weeks. They don’t do anything for it.
McCool - there is a link in an earlier thread - a few days after Christmas for the company that sells the ice lantern mold. Lee Valley Tools. If you can’t find the old thread, Google them and search the site for ice lanterns. Lee Valley, BTW, is an Ottawa based tool
company which does mail order all over North America and has retail stores all over Canada. MANY, many neat items and lots of gardening items too.
And bear in mind that the party was an “Open House”. Many people came and didn’t stay the whole time or came much later in the party; so I didn’t have all 80 there at one time.
I sure hope that the repair on the ring works OK for you this time. Is it likely something that the customer had done which makes the ring come apart? or faulty gold?
Well, it's taken me quite a long time to do this catch up. I've copied most of this message into WordPerfect just in case I do something stupid and lose it.
OSO rehearsal earlier this evening went well. We all think the director has made a New Year's resolution to be nicer to us because so far, so good. I DO have a bunch of practicing to do in the next few days.
I'll send this off and wish you all a good night; though I may be back after I've checked the new messages since I broke my Internet connections.
Ann
Aw Ann,
I bring my own,,,wouldn't want to put a hostess out at all,,,,LOL
You have d-mail
Kelly
Good morning everyone,
Lots of new stuff on DG this morning. Made me crazy there for a few minutes. Lost a big long thing I had just typed on the roses forum.
Janis, how are you feeling after your big boo-boo?
Got to get moving and I know ya'll have already finished off the donuts anyway.
Diane
