Hi all
Sharon so good to see you, and hope you get some relief at work soon.
Mags, sorry to hear you've been in the dumps. Hope things will be lookin up for you now that the holidays are over with.
Maria, I know exactly what you mean about the vacuum cleaner. LOL I have one of every size and shape, I think. Those babies are soooo sweet, but they do shed. LOL Now my girl is sweet enough to lay still and let me trim her nails, but it makes me nervous to do it. Only take off the tips, you know. Wouldn't want to hurt her. Every time you post a pic of him, Maria ... I just want to give him a great big hug.
Sarv, you're much sweeter than I am. Don't think I'd want to clean anyone elses house. LOL I do enjoy sitting back and looking at
mine all cleaned up, though. I get ill when it gets messy. ;)
Well, gonna go get my jammys on. Hugs all way round

Hello everyone. Where did the day go? A while ago I was sitting here reading posts and it was dark outside like now, but it was early morning. I thought I would post when I got time and didn't have time until now, after dinner.
For all of you who are fighting bugs, I hope the bugs curl up and die soon. Meanwhile, take good care of yourselves, juice, chicken soup, vicks on the feet, etc. That reminds me, I need to buy a jar of that. We used to always have it around but now haven't had any in many years and I don't know why. My MIL used to put some of it in her vaporizor and made the whole house smell like Vicks. She had a lot of colds and upper respatory problems and so winter was the Vicks season. All winter, every winter. She lived with us for several years, and although she was young enough to still be working she couldn't work much because she kept getting sick, would get a cold and it always went to her chest and turned into pneumonia, and then took her about a month to start feeling good again. Then just about the time we thought she would be ok she would get sick again. All winter. And sometimes in the summer too.
Some of the rest of you have good medical test results, relatives recovering from this and that, all good from what I remember reading.
Woofins, I'm so sorry to hear that your children are all affected by a very serious sounding condition. It's hard for most of us to emagine having one child with a problem like that but to have all of them and yourself in various stages of it must really be a strain. Many of us here in the kitchen are prayers, so you can be sure we'll be praying for all of you. Don't feel bad if you don't get time or just don't feel like posting much, we are also a very understanding group. Just check in from time to time and if you don't feel like saying more than "I'm ok", or" I need your prayers" that is ok, we can handle that.
For those fighting the "battle of the bulge", I know it isn't easy. Like you say, some of us are just "easy keepers" and never will look like anyone in show biz, but just keep trying and you can keep it from getting totally out of control. Habits are hard to break, but we can do this! I know there is a Healthy Living forum on DG with a weekly thread on weight loss. Lots of support over there if you need more than one forum to provide encouragement.
Today I went to town to do my major grocery shopping. I had a coupon for $10 off if I bought $50 worth, that's easy enough to do. The store only has these coupons in the paper once a month so I do a little extra stocking up then and just fill in on the weeks between. Missed the lucky number day at the thrift store since that was yesterday. I waited that extra day for the coupon from yesterday's paper. Also, took a lot of stuff to the recycle place and made a few other stops, and had Chinese lunch with my hubby. He had expected to be in another community in our county all day but got back early because of not being able to locate some flaky witnesses he needed to see, so that means he will have to make another trip.
My kitten has decided that the space between the computer tower and the keyboard is a great place to nap. The other cat likes it too but they don't share it. The older cat is acting like she is thinking the kitten might be fun to play with, but hasn't actually done it yet. I guess she is still letting her dignity get in the way.
The dinner mess is waiting and I don't want to be looking at it in the morning. Goodnight.
Mags,
ROFLMBO,,,,I thought I remembered that I saw you in that thread,,,had to go back and look,,,sure enough,,,,there you were,,gottcha,,,,LOL.
Mary,
Sounds like you had a productive day. Lunch sounds wonderful,,,I Love Chinese. The little furbabies will get the hierarchy taken care of,,,sounds as though they already are,,,LOL Poor MIL,,,,what a terrible thing to have cold after cold,,,grrrrr
So far,,,,thank-you Lord,,,haven't been sick. Customers coming in all the time sick,,,,I hope I have built up immunities to the more common stuff. Don't get sick that often. Now watch,,,I'll get that blasted bug.
Well, I'm gonna get tomorrows daily up and then I think I"ll turn in early tonight. Have a good night everyone.

Nitey Nite All,
Kelly
Just about ready to toddle off to bed, but had to read one more time and catch up!! It IS more fun to clean someone else's house, when my kids were toddlers, we lived in Denver in a neighborhood with a lot of young mothers, who didn't have outside jobs, just the full time one at home. We used to get together for coffee and moan about cleaning house and watching kids....so one day somebody said, I'll clean your house if you clean mine, and we all switched around and cleaned some one elses, and it was a riot.
We piled all the loose stuff, clothing, toys, books, mags, etc. in a big basket and just cleaned! No interruptions, no distractions, no sidetracking to do some other odd chore, I think we spent about 3 hours or a little more each, and got it all done. We were a happy crew, everybody cleaned something that someone else had overlooked or put off, we all had clean houses on the same day.....we only did it once, I got a full time job shortly after, and one other gal changed shifts, so it was just a spur of the moment idea tht worked!
Maria, Samson looks like he is smiling! Glad you got your generator done, one more thing off your mind. I'm very glad all my Christmas bakery is gone, it's too easy to grab a handful when they look so tempting. I made a serious dent in the box of Godiva's my daughter got me for Christmas....all in one day. I am so ashamed! LOL... NOT.
Sharon, I firmly believe all nurses are overworked, my step mom was a TPN, back in the days when the patient to nurse ration was considerably more humane. I don't know how they expect to keep staff when they overwork them, and they get no time to regroup. It's not good for staff, and even worse for patients. The last time I had surgery, the nurses worked 12 hour shifts, 3 days in succession, and the second week, 12 hours for 4 days, and were assigned the same patients if possible, so they got familiar with the meds etc.
You are going to be exhausted by spring, better get that Geritol now, and get the kind with lots of alcohol!!!
Maria, Janis explained the disease at 6:11 on today's thread if you want to go back and read it to catch up. It is certainly a strain on their family and I imagine their finances, too. Plus, I think your vet or local pet supply place has the kinds of nail clippers that only allow so much of the nail into the cutting portion so you can't overdo it. A groomer or your vet will cost more, but they are pros.
Yup, Elaine, I've gotten two garden catalogs so far, and I'm drooling over the pictures.. DH wants to enlarge the back corner garden, by two feet all around, and also expand one of the side gardens and make a walkway through it. (Less grass to cut?) I'm going to try some Rudbeckia under the poison tree, since it spreads like a weed elsewhere, maybe it will grow there. I've killed more plants under there than you can imagine. I have several lists put out by various universities with things that are supposed to grow, and I'm working my way through the list and crossing off the failures. My black walnuts are very very old trees, and the soil must be well saturated with juglone. Grass grows. I might try some ornamental grasses this year, along the property line.
Happy, you got to do a little five finger pruning? What fun. My purple velvet plant got started about a year ago when I walked through a greenhouse and they wanted about $6 for a puny little potted plant, so I adopted a slip from a big hanging one that was overhead. If they ever check my pockets on the way out, will you guys come bail me out? DH already said he won't. I explained that pruning is GOOD, but he just rolls his eyes, and sez "Don't Call Me!"
As some of you may recall that was exactly his position when I went back to the house we sold and tried to rescue some of my white iris because they were chopping every thing down. Just because it was before dawn, and I wore all my black sweats, and was creeping through the neighbor's yards like a bandit, he was sure I was going to get arrested. LOL
Too early to post tomorrow's thread? Kelly, you're it!
Say Good Night Gracie
Well another day that I went MIA!! There are just not enough hours in the day for me to get everything done. I went to the grocery, walmart, pharmacy, GoodWill, and home. I found the neatest garden craft book at Goodwill, for $2.50. Just love some of the ideas in there. Spent a lot of time tonight printing pictures, for DM. DH spent the day at the hospital with his mother. They moved her into a room yesterday afternoon late, so the visiting hours are a lot better. They will be moving her to a rehab facility maybe as early as Friday. She will spend about 3 weeks there, therapists working with her about 3 hours a day. So she is really improving rapidly. She is a "tough old bird" as my dad would have said. She has even mentioned that she might go back to work!!
Well, am trying to organize DM a little. Got her a tote that velcro's to her walker so that she can "carry" the phone, and other items that she needs. Bought a blood pressure monitor today. Must check her blood pressure on a regular basis, so that the Dr. can adjust her meds. She has one of those "medical alert" buttons, but forgets to put it on. I had a stern talk with her tonight about making sure that she puts it on first thing each morning.
We live in a rural area, but tonight, neighbor called to say that the state police chased a car right by our house, the guy was armed, jumped out of his car and fled into a wooded area. They have the "dogs" out looking for him. Needless to say, we have all the doors and windows locked, and probably would not open the door to anyone tonight, or until he is caught. This is only about 1 1/2 miles from us. So if you hear screams in the night, come and rescue us or at least call 911.
Well, I am sorry that so many are not feeling well. I have purchased, in the last week or so, Airbourne, Zicam, Vitamin C, and Vicks. So do you think I am ready for all those nasty germs? The airbourne is supposed to be taken when you are going to be out in a crowd. The Zicam, if you feel like you are taking a cold, and the vicks, I am going to try the "put it on the bottom of your feet" cure. Never hurts to be prepared. And we need to stay healthy to take care of the sick.
Well, we are switching satellite companies, and the guy will be here Friday to install the new one. And (are you ready for this?) I am getting a tv to be put in the bedroom, as DH has ordered a Sports package, which means that I will never see him until he overdoses.
Well, I promised that in the new year, I would be better about being around and keeping current, ain't happened yet, but hey we are only 4 days into 2006. I don't have anything on my calendar for tomorrow, so I may worry the crap out of all of you. LOL.
Well, I am off to bed, hopefully to be unconscious until about 8:00. That hasn't happened in a very long time, but here's hoping.
I didn't mention anyone by name, but be assured that I read all posts, am interested in what's going on.
Whoops, Kelly snuck in while I was whacking away at the keyboard.
Night George
Thanks, M5, will get some clippers and try hope I can do it
