Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

Congrats Kell!!! Your photos and flowers are beautiful. Keep up the good work.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks but I sure wasn't the only winner. So many in so many categories. I had such fun looking at them all.

Kin, you did pretty well yourself and I see your Papasan Chair took first place. How cool is that? Donna (our Rutholive) also won. I got to see her purple front door and loved it!!

Every year Dave's has a photo contest. You all should all enter. It is fun. Last year I was too busy, but this year in the 11th hour I got it together.

Here are all the years. It is fun to look back at all the entries especially in winter. Oh to dream......

oh, wow! what fabulous photos! congrats, kell, and to all who won.

i was obviously asleep when this happened!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

If you check into Dave's Garden Forum now and then you can see what is up around here.

Where have you been all day, Annapet? I have been knee deep in my rose planning. Why I bother I do not know, for then I go to the rose store and buy every rose that is not on my list. LOL

Corte Madera, CA

Thanks, Kell.

Oh, gee, where have I been? Checking all local nurseries after church. Of course they are all closed today. Then I drove around Marin to nose-around flooded areas: San Anselmo, Fairfax...etc.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

BTW, the roses at the Richmond Costco have been picked on before I got there. Sigh.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Really sigh. The ones at the Fremont store had not even been touched Friday. I best make a run tomorrow to another one then.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Great pictures, everyone. Congrats to the winners.

Gosh you two.
Sorry you didn't know about the contest. It started back on Nov. 4th. Wish you would have known. It was sooo much fun looking at gardens and flowers.
Talk about a 2 DO
OR
I WANT...!!
List now...

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

Congratulations Kell!

Things here have been so crazy i forgot about the contest. Wish i was nursery hopping instead of watching the waters rise. The good news is, everything in my yard is getting a good looong drink. LOL

Melissa

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Melissa, you won too! LOL Your great pumpkin brug! So congratulations to you too!

So you are drowning too? My backyard is a swamp.

Corte Madera, CA

kin, i'm always daydreaming, i guess. but now i know where to look. although my plants are all babies still.

oh, yeah. congrats, melissa!

my brugs in pots are all down. keeping them down for there's another storm. the yard is a mess, but i felt better after i've seen san anselmo.

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

Thanks! I really do need to pay more attention to what is going on. LOL
Currently our backyard is a mud pit, we had standing water in it yesterday evening, but it is soaking in. It just started raining again though and i am lucky enough (really i am) to live about an eight of a mile from the Carson River. This is a pic of the ranch i grew up on this morning. Our property is adjoining, though luckily a few feet higher! If it crests tonight like they are forecasting and we don't get heavy rains for a few days all will be well. If not... it is good to have flood insurance :)

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

Ok... My brain must have washed away too. Here is the photo.

Annapet, I am going to my Costco tomorrow. They were closed here today. Are there any specific roses I can look for, for you ? I'm putting a package together for you this week, gf :))

Okay, my BIG question for today is......I need a new camera. I know you all make wonderful pictures, so tell me what you like. I need easy, obviously, lol !! I hope that by late Spring I will have some pretty pictures to share with you :))
God bless you all, you're all totally awesome gardeners and friends! I'm so glad I found Dave's. Margo

Melissa, you are in my prayers. I do pray that the rains and the flooding will not harm you and your family. My love to you, Tori and family.

Sorry about all the flooding going on. It's been a mess. What a picture Mellisa What a mess. I guess I will not complain about my basement taking in water. Too much rain and it had to go somewhere!!! Just a mess but under control...

Margo, This is the camera I got this year. I really like it and the price has come down quite a bit. I think it takes good pictures. I think you have seen my pics posted and they are taken with this camera.

Hope this will give you a jump start on your new camera.

Margo, I would love to hear if your Costco has different roses than ours here. Is it your bareroot season there? Here we have about another 6 weeks to go then the roses will start actively growing fast.

You might want to check out this thread. it has some camera ideas on it.

Gosh Melissa, that looks terrible. I sure hope the water stays down for you. What a mess.

I have a Canon PowerShot S1 IS that for the most part i have been very happy with. it has a 10x optical zoom and an additional digital zoom (which i don't think is particularly great) i got it this summer, and still have a lot to learn.

The river crested last night and is back down to the level of the photos i posted. So all is well here in my muddy corner of the world.

Union City, CA(Zone 9b)

Kell - It seems different Costco's carry different items .
The one on A street in Hayward doesn't carry roses [ just cut flowers . ] They carry alfabet [ABC's ] cookies . They have biggest selections of office supplies and big cooking pots .
The one in Fremont had 2 racks of bare root . They carry raw almonds . They also carry Orchids . Gas station -
The one in Livermore has/had more orchids . They carry black forest ham . Gas station
The one in San Matoe had one rack , but a bunch of bare root trees . This one is next to an OSH .
The one in Oakland/San leandro has black forest ham , very few plants , but big bags of snail bait and good apple pies [fresh ] Gas station .

Corte Madera, CA

in novato there's no gas station nor rotisserie chicken. what's up with that?

=)

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

you brug guys amuse me to no end!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hey Vossner, you need to become one of us!! LOL. You would fit right in. You big bloom lover you!!!

Gosh Tony, are you our resident Costco expert? LOL. So what desire brought you to all of them? I never made it out of the house today. I am so pathetic. Even the lure of roses did not get me to budge. It was stay in bed and watch movies with my big fat cat Gabby. She is such a warm and furry love glob.

Doris, I can't wait to see your new pictures you will take this year. What fun you will have!!

Melissa, I thought of you today. Glad to hear all is better!

And Annapet, you need to MOVE then. LOL. Rotisserie chicken from Costco is a must. LOL

My fat cat!

I love Costco rotisserie chicken!

And, Kell, i think i have your fat cat's fat sister.

Thanks for your concerns, river is down, got 5 inches of snow today, no frogs or locusts so far... Hoping the boils don't come either.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I am afraid to ask what are the boils? Sounds dreadful!!
Lets see a picture of your fatcat, Melissa!

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

This is Smoochie (named by Tori when she was 4 years old)

Kell, your cat is lighter, but they have similar markings don't you think? You can't quite tell from the picture, but Smoochie has the same round puggish face as your kitty.

And Jake, Smoochie's friend (most of the time). Jake was found on the side of road. The vet guessed he was about 4 weeks old, at the time he weighted under 1/2 a lb. We had to bottle feed him for a few weeks before he could even eat solids. He eats on his own very well now :)

Wow what beautiful pictures! Congratulations Kell and everyone!

Well, darn it all, my Costco had no roses or bulbs yet. I guess we are too warm for them...i don't know when we'll get them, they didn't know either....sigh :))
God bless ya'll, Margo
