Casey, I forgot to tell you that I hope you get your new place in a couple days. Hope all works out. What a mess you have had to deal with but it will be worth it in the long run!

Coffee and... For Sunday, Jan 1, 2006
Finally! Happy New Year ... y'all. I've been so busy today in the kitchen I haven't even had time to post. We stayed up late last night, watched the ball drop on TV, kissed each other and sat outside and listened to the crazy's with fire crackers. They have just made certain ones legal here in GA, so people are going nuts with them. LOL I chopped all the meat for the brunswick stew and got it assembled. We wound up with a huge pot ... around 3 or 4 gallons. I got up this morning and fixed black eyed peas, baked sweet potatoes, collard greens, corn bread and we had smoked pork roast with it. Seems I've done nothing but wash dishes all day. ;)
Susan, I'm saying prayers that all will be safe in your area. That is a horrible situation. Will be praying for everyone out there ... hoping you get rain.
Congrats to those of you on your picture taking skills. That's just wonderful! :)
Defoe, sure hope the MIL is doing okay today.
Darius and Molly, good to see y'all checking in now. Sounds like you're coming right along on the pump house.
Pam, hope you'll come join us when you can. It's always nice to see a new face at the table. :)
Who made the coffee cake? Boy, it sure is good. I helped myself to a piece.
Well, forgive me for not speaking to everyone. I'm just tuckered out tonight, so will say night night. Once again ... hope everyone has had a nice day and will have a healthy and happy new year.
Hugs&blessings to each of you ... Elaine
Well, its sad when I have to visit my father in law just so I can check into DG. My home computers are having fits, and until I can get the tech out on Tuesday I have been told to leave everything be..
So to all a wonderful New Years, I hope all your wishes for the new year come true.
I hopefully will be back on Tuesday unless I find more reasons to visit FIL.
Casey
Thanks for the picture comments - grandma eats em up! (don't all grandmas? hee hee) The ferret is oldest son's 'child'. Adopted about 3 weeks ago. Funny critter!
I had to work 10 to 6:30 today so DH got to take the auntie to church by himself. Went ok, he said. I slid all the way home - in hindsight, I should have called a friend and stayed overnight. The freezing rain was 1/8 thick on my car, chipped it all off and went 30 to 40 mph all the way. I'm dreading the morning ride - supposed to get 3" inches of snow on top of the ice - it's in the process of changing to snow right now. I just stepped outside and all the trees are rattling from the layer of ice on them. grrr! how many months till spring?
Hi Bernie, Happy New Year - saw u sneak in there! Likewise to Pam, good to see u!! Was thinking about u the other day when I opened the livingroom curtains and DGD asked me what that sign said -- it's enjoying the warmth indoors! I treasure that sign!!
LOL....a good time to poke my nose in here again. We have a number of those signs up on the garage now (they list DG'ers names and how far their packages have had to travel across this continent).
He's a sweetie Laura......... I've often eyed getting one myself but am now eyeing green tree frogs (less work;).
Daisy my son is at the same point......right now he's eyeing the sciences. It was his 18th birthday today and I'm still amazed at how quickly those years flew by.
Molly and Darius I'm sure happy that you three have gotten past the major hurdles and things are starting to fall in place.
Congratulations to the winners in the photography contest (I managed to vote on 2/3rds of the entries before running out of time).
Tomorrow's Daily is UP in the Parking Lot!

(Susan...hang in there...and get ready to grab what's important if it becomes necessary. I grew up in Tulsa and can smell that smoke from here!)
((( ~hugs~ )))
Hi again all -
First of all - MAN all of the picture winners are so good! I've got to learn my new camera well enough to maybe participate next year!
Second - DH and I went to lunch and then to see Chronicles of Narnia - absolutely wonderful film - no I haven't read the books since I was a kid - but the actors and actresses that played the kids - WONDERFUL - especially the little girl. We really enjoyed it.
Thirdly - I'M SO HAPPY FOR DARIUS AND MOLLY (and Jeremy!). I can't think of a better way to start the new year - and wish I'd been as ambitious. I did draw out a flower bed on paper - does that count? LOL!
Finally - All of us have so much to be grateful for don't we? Aren't we lucky to have good friends! I think so - and bless you all!
Marcia
Well, everyone has been busy today. Lotta cooking going on. I sure hope that I haven't jinxed myself, forgot about the traditional new year's day meal. We had roast pork loin, oven browned potatos, steamed carrots and cauliflour, a nice tossed salad and rolls. Was good, but what about the prosperous part. Do you think I can attone by fixing that meal tomorrow?LOL Does that mean that only part of the year will be prosperous?
I am not one to make resolutions, but this year, I have resolved to be more upbeat, spend less time with people I don't enjoy, and to plant, plant, plant.!! I know that I can do the last part!! Oh and give DH a hug and kiss every day!!
Went to church this morning, DM went with us. Home for lunch, rested, Church again in the afternoon, and home for supper. DH did church again tonight, but I elected to stay home and read, watch tv, talk with twin sister, and play with Mr. B.
DMIL is having the pace maker put in tomorrow. They have discovered that the pain medicine that she has been receiving is doing something to the heart ryhthm, so they are trying to start weaning her from that. She was in considerable pain this afternoon. Had to give her a pint of blood, due to the loss that she had with the leaking valve. She is sitting up, and had regular food today. Had only had jello and broth prior to today. DH and I didn't visit today, as there are 9 children, and 3 of them were going. Intensive care visitation is limited, so DH will be there tomorrow. I will probably wait until later in the week, when she is moved into a regular room. She is one tough lady, so I expect given some time, she will be as sassy as before.
Tomorrow is a busy day for me. Going to church to take down all the christmas decorations. Have been making progress cataloguing all my seeds. Will start with making a trade list soon. Have soon bill paying and check balancing to do also, so will have a full day.
When I took DM to Dr, on Friday, blood was too thick, so will have to call her Dr and see what he wants to do. Ordinarily when placed on blood thinner, it is at some point regulated by dosage. However, this begins 3 years, and DM , has never stabilized. One month, too thick, next too thin. She is beginning to worry that she will have a stroke, and be helpless.
Well, I am off to bed, as the alarm will ring early to get DH off to hospital. So hope that you all have a restful night, and awake refreshed.
Just showed this to DH Laura and he said he thought about the sign he made for you just the other day when we were driving to Regina. It sure was a lot of fun planning how those plants from Florida would make it to you and then the undercover operation of getting them across the border. ;)
Welcome Bernie and Pam. Stay around and share your lives with us, please.
Thank you for such a warm welcome everyone! :)
Just popping back in to say ... Susan we are getting rain tonight and I'm praying some to you. Our weather has been so crazy here, we have had the air on today. They have severe fog advisories out for tomorrow morning. Said visability will be zero. The DH is *suppose* to be off ... but in emergency management, with weather like this ... you never know. LOL
Hugs to all and to all a good night! :)
Gee's, I didn't know I was so missed.
I have been on lots of other threads.
We had to get Badseed moved, took most of the summer & fall.
Then there are the barns that needed attention, lots of homes to see, greenhouses abound, & many others.
I just returned home a few minutes ago. We traveled to Brainerd, my step-son needed a ride up there. So we stopped a my wivies brothers for dinner, (leftover ham from yesterday's Christmas celebration was delicious.) Then we dropped off SS at his house, gave the 2 grandchildern their Christmas gifts. Later we went to my brothers to visit for a while. We talked house building of course. Then took a tour of the spec house he & his son are building. Checked out a couple other houses & their lake lot. Brainerd area is booming with new house construction. Lots that sold for $10,000-$15,000 ten years ago are now going for $35,000 & up. Cheapest new house up there is $225,000 with nothing fancy. He just finished one for some people. They owned the lot, & it took $400,000 to build it. There are lots of houses around there like that or more money.
We stopped at a newer restraunt for supper. The dinners on the menu went from $21.95 to $44.95. I had a walleye sandwich for $11.95. Talk about food! There was enough for 2 people, & it was great. Took us just short of 4 hours to drive back,(couple potty breaks). It's roughly 200 miles, no freeways.
Well Happy Jan 2nd!
Bernie
