I'm listening! definitely past the point of enjoying that pain....... yuck!! LOL
Kids are all gone their respective directions - praying they're all safe and sound by morning, and the same to everyone here!
I was just looking at the pics DD took and had a chuckle over this one - DGD Samantha, with red shiny eyes and DGFBF (DearGrandFurBabyFerret) Scooter, with white shiny eyes.
Great to see the progress, darius and molly - looks like that pumphouse is a fair size.
Sleep tight all!
Happy New Year Y'alls!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR GOB'S
Well had a very enjoyable evening with good friends and neighbors. The food was delicious also. My new years resolution is: To always socialize with only those people who are kind caring upbeat people. I have spent way too many hours with people, whom I do not enjoy, you know the ones who always gripe and complain. Well, this year I resolve to be upbeat, and to avoid the negative attitudes. I know we all have that off day, when we tend to complain, but imagine 365 days a year complaining about something. So I have just moved 2 couples to the catagory of will see them occasionally!! And have elevated all GD'ers to the see them on a daily basis catagory.LOL
Just a few comments them I am off to bed.
VAnn, I loved the link you provided. I bookmarked it to go back and look at later, after only spending 45 minutes there!!
dmc, so glad the horse baby is gonna be okay. Sounds like the weather was real scary.
Hope those with rainy/snowy weather will get a break. and those with aches and pains, colds and fevers see a marked improvement in that area.
Thanks all for your prayers for DMIL. They had her up in a chair today, and she seems to be doing well.
Well Off to Bed, to sleep and dream the dreams of the innocent.
Happy 2006.
HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone.
Hope this year brings peace, joy & love to all.

Happy New Year All,
We spent a quiet evening, enjoyed some Kahlua and Creme and Darius has gone off to bed. I'm watching a little more TV.
I resolve, now that the major part of the stress is over, to try to be less stressed about the littler things. Keep the octives down lower and listen a little better. I'll do the best I can, anyway.
Peace to all!!!!
Molly

Isn't it nice to get up on New Year's Day and not feel like your head has been whacked with a stick, and your mouth tasting like a barnyard? There are some advantages in getting old, even if they are few and far between.
Just wanted to say Good Morning and Happy New Year to all, and then go read the Sunday paper!! So I did, and I will. See ya later.
Sheila
Happy New Year and good morning to all!! Welcome 2006! (wonder how many times I will write out checks with 2005 on them)
DH and I went to the movies. Stood in line only to get two people from the order guy and they said the one we wanted to see was sold out!! So we saw 'rumer has it' - a real yawner - DH even fell asleep! But we had a good time people watching. Paid 10.75 for a popcorn and 2 pops - outrageous!
Got home, jammies on, DH made pizza rolls for a midnight snack and we enjoyed watching "Ray" on dish. Man, do all singers use drugs - sad....
Going to put away the last of the Christmas stuff. My house looks so nice!
Who has IKEA chairs??? I took the girls there last spring- wild time!! We left with two shopping carts filled to the brim..I'd love to go back!
I just saw in the paper that Hobby Lobby has scrapbooking totes 1/2 off. Man, I'd like one, but my $$ is all gone. Maybe I'll get one anyway - a present just for ME!!!
Hello to everyone....french toast for breakfast if anyone wants any..
YAWNnnnnnn.....
Oh yeah...Happy New Year! Yaaaawwwwnnnnn!
I think I'm going back to bed. :-|
Kooger...I loved your pic of the garndbabies. Your little girl is precious and Scooter (Didn't realize you had a ferret in the family...We've had several and just love haveing them around.)
Gayle thanks for the pic of the Carp Drop. LOL (I didn't know about that one! Eric just told me they've been talking about it on the radio all week.)
"Hi" to Susan, Molly, Dairus, D.cat (Good news ...that's great!), Kelly, Maria, Carol (the odd one), and Sheila. Loretta, happy to see you dropped in, too.
"Hi" to anyone who visited while I was trying to wake up enough to type this...and
HAPPY 2006 to everyone!
~julie~
Good Happy Nrw Year morning every one
t was just me and Samson! It snowed about a couple of inches, it does look nice , Samson is racing around in it like crazy he likes snow more than I do ;-)
All of you sound relaxed and had good times with friends or by yourselfs.
Happy New Year!

LOL, I was doing fine until I had the Kaluah and Cream! Wow, sweet stuff leaves a nasty taste in my mouth the next day.
I've been marinating a fresh ham overnight in Mojo Criollo (with garlic, onion, and citrus) and hope to get it started on a slow roast soon. I can smell it already in my mind. : ) The black eyed peas will cook later.
Did anyone notice that BERNIE slipped into the room?
HEY! Bernie! Happy New Year to you, too! Don't be a stranger! (We've got another guy-type visitor who comes to the table occasionally...we need your help to convince him stick around!)
Hi Darius! Black Eyes Peas!! A southern tradition for New Year's Day...I remember it well. (I won't say 'fondly' but I'll spare you the details of why...it might quench your appetite for the "Good Luck" meal. hehehe)
It's Standing Rib on the menu for us today. (Hubby's cooking! Yeah!) I have the beans the cornbread to 'do' for tomorrow. (I'd rather have THAT meal, cuz it's the one I grew up on. :-) ...who KNEW there was 'standing rib'??? Certainly not me!)
I'm outta here!
~julie~
Oh Maria that is SO pretty. Even if we complain about it, I think the snow on the trees like that is just a perfect sight. And Samson likes it too right?
It's not pretty at all here, we have just a dusting of snow on top of ice. The other foot of snow was completely soaked by two days of rain, and then frozen hard by 10 degree nights, so it's pretty hard to get around, and tough on horses.
dcat~ I think resolving to be upbeat is good, but I'm afraid I'd break it in minutes (see...there I go already!!). Excellent that DMIL is up already, I hope she's rebounding. She's had a tough time!
kooger~ precious picture!
mg~ the carp drop sounds my speed for some reason! That just cracks me up!!
molly and darius~ looks like it's going to be a pretty fancy pump house! good luck on finishing it. I guess your weather's a lot better than ours
Hi and Happy New Year julie, demstratt, both carols, Bernie, susan, Kelly, Sheila, Ann, Elaine, and all the others who will pop in and out today!!
I think I'm starting my salad menu today. After church.. . And I guess I should decide on some exercise too!!
Have a great day everyone!!
Happy New Year to all here sounds like everyone celebrated in a wonderful safe pleasant way and all feel fine today!!! Same here!!!
Hope you all have a wonderful day today and this year brings happiness to everyone!!!!
Anne
Maria sorry to miss the pj party I got sidetracked at a neighbors house -- had my son tucked in by 10 and fell asleep by 11!! DH had to work at the restaurant so he brought in the new year for us and got in very early am! LOL
Good morning and Happy New Year to all of you! I agree that we need to spend more time with people who make us smile and less with the others.
Welcome to Bernie, I hope you will stay with us. We need a few more men for balance here, and Robert and Ernie have been alone far too long, a bit red faced a couple of times but they got through it.
Dcat, I'm glad to read the good report on your mother in law. When you see her, tell her that a whole lot of people prayed for her and are glad to hear that she is doing well after her surgery.
Mg, carp drop, what a hoot! The glitzy ball in Times Square isn't my style either, I'm much more down to earth than that.
Ummm, some of you are having some great sounding things for dinner. I haven't planned ours yet but it might just be bean soup with ham, cornbread and a cabbage/carrot/apple/raisin salad. My hubby never met a bean he didn't like and I am a somewhat lazy cook, oh, alright, a very lazy cook.
We'll have breakfast with our son and daughter in law this morning, (that's our big event for the day) and then probably do very little the rest of the day. Hubby has football games that need watching and I have a good book.
The weather looks better than yesterday, a little break between storms I think, so I might take the dog for a good long walk and try not to let Neut the cat follow us this time. Last time I got way down there in the pasture and heard a meow, it was 15+ pound Neut trying to keep up with us with his short little legs. He is the 15 pound cat and I don't want to have to carry him home, so we turned around and came back up to the house before I really wanted to. By the time I got to the house he was way behind. Hmmm, maybe that tactic would work, let him follow us and come back to the house, then go again when the walk doesn't appeal to him. Have to try that.
Have a great day everyone. Count your blessings, a good way to start the new year.
Oh my, I had a nice reply all written, didn't even preview it. don't know where it went. For now, I'll just say, Happy New Year. everyone.

Happy New Year to All!
Hope your dreams come true and your nightmares are few!

Well, today is the taking down of the decorations day. I'm ready to have things back to normal.Better get my substantial rear going if I want to accomplish anything,,,,See Ya Later.
Kelly
Just a quick drop in to give you an update.
I am trying to get my Christmas decorations down, going very slow, back hurting very much. LOL
Oklahoma is burning up. :(
I can smell the smoke from the fires just south of us. I have leaves piled all around my house and am scared to death. What would I do if the fire gets here, kitties and doggies first, what would I do about the fish, don't want to think. Save all the family photos, there are a bunch, get the computer (LOL) if there was time and go where???
Not gonna think about it, but will anyway, just in case.
It is 76 degrees here today and the winds are gusting to 30mph. No rain for ever so long. California is washing away and we are burning up. Oklahoma is asking for help from other states to fight the fires.
Well, I have to go get lunch, don't really feel like eating, but should I guess. Gonna fix a ham and black eyed peas later, but it is small so won't take long.
Send us some rain somebody...
Susan
=^..^=
Susan,
Gosh I wish you would get some rain there,,,,everything so dry, I can see why you're nervous.
Hang in there. Try to think positive. Those fires aren't gonna get by you! I will be saying a lot of prayers for you and everyone in the area where the fires are.
God's Blessings to you,
Kelly
I hope you can turn your sprinkler system on now Susan and soak your yard really well.
A lurker who wishes the *Coffee and......* a very safe and happy New Year.

Pam,
Please join us. We'd be happy to have you.
Kelly
I'll try thanks Kelly :)......I'm pretty inconsistent tho since I work and I'll be moving my parents back into their house in the coming months.
Hi Pam - we've met on Canadian forum. Hope we speak up more often here.
We are back from taking the grandtwins to McDonalds for lunch and attending a friend's open house party. Grandtwins had a good time in the play area at McD's but grandson staged a major tantrum when it was time to leave. Unusual for him. More often, Amy is the tantrum girl.
We saw King Kong last evening and saw my friend who was playing in the viola section of the orchestra in the theatre scene. As another colleague on the viola list said,
Well I spent a part of my New Year's Eve waiting for the acting debut of one of our colleagues and I wasn't disappointed. I gotta say the acting in the viola section during that couple of minute sequence was at a minimum Oscar worthy... that look of shock as The Kong becomes a temporarily freed ape showed talent far beyond musical.
Actually, a good movie overall, but the scenes with various monsters were overdone and tedious.
Someone above asked who had IKEA stuff. I posted the link and my kitchen chairs are IKEA. Also most of the furniture in my basement room - shelves, large desk meant for a computer which I use for my sewing machine, the cabinet the TV sits on. But the chairs there are carefully selected Laz-i-boy. (compfy). We became aware of IKEA in 1976-77 when we were living in Germany and they opened a store in Hamburg. The Ottawa store opened a few years after that; so we had a number of items while our kids were growing up. I think they delayed entering the US market for quite awhile until they were sure they could meet the demand.
I think that just about recaps what I wrote earlier that disappeared into cyberspace.

Ann now I'm embarrassed, but thanks for the mention. I kinda went mad with my new camera this year, I hope everyone enjoyed the results.
9kittymom, I am concerned about your fires. i hope you are missed by them I don't know how you have such high temperatures in your zone at this time of year, must be the cold nights, that seems to be what zones are determined by.
I had Xmas a week late with my family yesterday (Saturday), not feeling the best today, still knocked down with cold. Worse still, my other half has problems with his much too helpful family pressurising him, and guess who has to deal with it? Had to give an indication today of some sort when they came down to seek us out, and tell him all they have always told him, but they just push him further away, all is not hunky dory.
Sorry folks, meant to say a Happy New Year to all, I guess all of us must appreciate another one is about to happen, some are not so fortunate.
defoecat, great in theory, I always try to be upbeat, but thee are others that you have to be involved with and it doesn't seem to work. His father is always cheery, but thinks he can wave a magic wand, and his mother is always on the down, hard to cope with, and has her way of 'encouraging'.
Happy New Year to all!!!!!
We were up early this morning getting ready for some work. Darius got the roast in the oven, (it was marinating all night long), then we headed out to build 2 more walls on the pump house. We did that and I prepped a bed on the front of the house for some bulbs.
You don't realize how much land(dirt) there is in 5 acres until you take a shovel and rake to it.
After we moved the generator away from the end of the trailer, I realized there was a dip in the ground. Can't have a river of water running under there to compromise the footing, so we started hauling wheelbarrows of dirt to raise that level. At the same time, we raked wood debris from the future veggie garden area. Man, that's a whole lot of raking and we did not even finish that.
We were certainly ready for dinner when we were done. We had roast pork, marinated in Mojo, blackeyed peas, steamed broccolli and sweet cornbread. Oh yes and a lovely bottle of Reisling Kabinett wine. We are now ready for the new year.
I thought about the New Years Day dinner and realized I haven't had the proper meal in several years of New Years. If I was a superstitious person, I might think, all that former bad luck was my own fault.
We are on the right track now.....heehee.
Molly
:^)))
Oh, MY! A FULL belly!
We had a pork roast, black eyed peas, perfectly steamed broccoli and cornbread for supper, plus the delightful addition of a bottle of really good Reisling wine sent to me by Carat and shared with Molly for this holiday!
That's on top of bacon plus mushroom, onion and cheese omlets I made for brunch. I'd say we started the New Year eating quite well!
We (really Jeremy) got all the remaining concrete blocks set around the building perimeter, and Molly built one partial wall which she and I got up. Then Jeremy helped on the end wall and we got that one up. I had cut the members for the wall section with the door but we were out of nails, so we quit.
Then they raked and made beds while I sorted my bulbs to plant.
Great start for a new year. Hooray!!!
(Looks like I cross-posted with Molly, LOL!)
Hi Darius and Molly, I am kind of confused, I have tried to follow your threads, but haven't.
WHERE are you located? NC or FL
LOL
Or neither....
Susan
=^..^=
Susan,
We are in North Central Florida, a small town outside of Gainesville. It was a beautiful day today once the fog lifted. As the day wore on it got warmer so I turned on the A/C in the house. Forgot to throw the power switch to the unit at the breaker box. Part of it was on, but the compressor was not. When we sorted that out and cooled down the over heated unit, I turned it back on and it still wasn't working properly.
I think it's a good idea to get the mobile home people to fix these things before summer, when we really need it. They couldn't get the heat on for us before the cold, so they have lots of time to get the a/c properly working before the heat of summer by now.
We are feeling quite content right now......as Darius said, a full belly, satisfied with the work we did today and comfortably worn out.
Tomorrow, we make a trip to Orlando to drop the generator off at my brothers' house, pick up my daylilies, hostas and see a man in Leesburg about a job.
A great start to the new year.
Molly
:^)))
I am having so many problems with my DSL, it continues to shut me down with each page load. I am so glad that you all enjoyed the wine. I hope it helps you ring in the new year with only good luck to come.
The place is looking great.
Casey
Hey, Molly & Darius, that pump/storage house looks great!!!! Plus those meals sound so good too!
I have accomplished a lot this weekend. I took down the tree, vacuum the whole house, took down the outside lights, made a good blueberry coffee cake (have a piece, you all!) and got those dang FAFSA (fin. aid papers done for the kids going to college) late last nite while everyone was celebrating.
Then today, I got my greenhouse put up AGAIN (and geez,I forgot to take a picture of it). It is weighted down with bricks and milk jugs full of water. It was very windy out there so it should be okay now finally. Of course, the plastic cover doesn't fit nicely like the first one I had gotten and already have ripped it. Darn it!!! But it is done!!! With plants in it and all.
Then I dug up some Peruvian lily for a trade, an invasive one. LOL
Then I cleaned up the garage, put up a shelf for my laundry soap, etc, made some soup in the crock pot all day long (made it with a ham hock, ham, onion, a mix that had rice in it, pinto beans, barley, etc) and it tastes pretty good after working outside. Made some garlic bread to go with it too.
It finally stopped raining for a bit today so it was nice to be outside tho the wind wasn't great. Have some anemones blooming now. Kind of pretty to see this early tho. Nice blue and red blossoms.
Then spent time online trying to find some schools for my soon to be high school graduate son. He can't figure out what to do with life so I am trying to get ideas so he can move on with life and maybe move on from here at home.
Just wanted to say hi for the new year of 2006. Off to try to start some sourdough starter. If anyone here has used it, let me know your comments on using it. Got a comment from M5 about it so far.
Later all, Carol (DR)(the even one)
