I am so behind on what I need to do that I can't decide what to do first so here *I* sit....

To which I add..."Are you spying on ME??? LOL"

I've tried several times today to sit down and add my thoughts to our party. Do y'all realize how hard it is for me to keep my mind on a straight track? And everyone has posted such wonderful things today, and I have a comment for each one.

On the other hand...I also have a friend who has gotten me back into my embroidery digitizing (TALK about a STRAIGHT TRACK! HA!! It used to be easy for me to pick up something new and before the day's end I had mastered, picked apart, and all my suggestions emailed back to the code writer. ROTFLOL ...Not anymore!). Oh...guess I got side-tracked again. ~grin~

And then there's CASEY (whose fault it is, indirectly, that I've dug myself another hole trying to learn the things I want to teach HER...hahaha). BTW Casey, check your AOL mail...and *answer* me! :-D

Now, since today is special, special day...I need ideas for something special. I'd like to know which of the following categories you'd put yourself in. Think about the things you've talked about in this thread and then choose. You *have* to TELL me!

Edited to add - "FAITH" which is something this group exhibits often
Reading
Cooking
Eating (SARV, I already have YOU here...hehehe)
Building (Robert I have you here along with Darius. :-))
Shopping
Music (Viola Ann...I have you here)
Laughing
LOVE DG
Computer (Kelly...you go here...like it or not! :-D)
Sewing
Gardening
Gambling (Now *who* is that is *so* lucky...Maria?)
hmmm....what have I left out?
Oh yes...
Horses!
Cats!
Puppy dogs!
Travelers
Angels
and just plain FLOWERS!

Now...that request applies to EVERYONE who is checking into this anniversary thread...EVERYONE! And you'll know what it's all about later. (I always did like those 'cliff-hanger' end of the season TV shows. I always remembered to come back to see what was going happen next. hehehe)

Sheila...I have to stop long enough here and tell you how much I appreciated and *enjoyed* reading your first post in this thread. I got little goose-bumps as I read it this morning. This thread has made this group of people feel like family to me. And that's might special.

Now I want to thank everyone for stopping by, for posting their "Happy Birthday/Anniversary" wishes...and most of all, thank you to the lurkers who are now no longer lurking. I hope you enjoy our 'family' as much as I do.

OK guys...back to my digitizing...I have a LOT to do. ;-)

Carol, what can I add to what you wrote? Nothing, all very true, have lived long enough to know each day now is a gift and like t o share much of myself and from myself as is possible.

Had a wondeful time with younger daughter at a big mall in Providence, had a very nice lunch and lots of fun togerther, school vacations are wonderful, especially when children are the teachers ;-)

Blooms, happy, happy birthday!!!!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Julie, I will check AOL as soon as I get home. AOL can't pass the firewalls here, so it will have to wait.

As far as what categories I would place myself in, lets see....

I love to read just not Stephen King, gardening (of Course), sewing(Julie's fault), cooking (although DH does most of that now, so change that to the eating catergory), I have had my hand in quite a few building projects and with the new house I am sure I will be doing many more, I love my computer and the fact that it brings me to Dave's Garden so add me to both those, animals are just the greatest so put my name there too. I hate to shop anymore, but do love to tagalong at Lowes and HD. Powertools are just to cool. I listen to various types of music and avoid the abusive ones, but being tone deaf I guess I shouldn't really add myself there.

Two more hours and counting......

Casey

Edited because I was laughing so hard I forgot to add laughing to the list. Help me I am driving myself insane.....

I can't stand it any longer....

I am going OUTSIDE, it is 71F and rising, but the wind may be 71 also. LOL

Don't care, gonna go out sit in the swing, pet my Strypurr and Cali kitties and dream of spring.

9kittymom, Its hard to be inside when it looks as though you should be outside. Hang on to something just in case that wind is as strong as 71. It is quite warm here also. DH was wearing shorts on Christmas Day.

I *knew* there was something IMPORTANT I was fogetting!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOOMS!!!
Hope you stick around for a good long time so we can celebrate "birthdays" together! :-D

(Whose digitizing Holly leaves and berries at the moment. hehehe)

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Carat is driving herself insane....short trip coming up....LOL LOL (Girl, you asked for that one!!)

Umm do we pick one item from that list or put them in priority order?

OK but not in order of preference:
Reading, Cooking, Eating, Music (just listening, no aptitude for anything else), Laughing, DG, Computer, Gardening, Cats, other people's puppy dogs, photography, painting, rummage sales, scratching my intellectual itches via the internet....

But my kitties come first, no wait, it's DG, or probably gardening, uhhh, reading......but then there's gardening...............or kitties and cooking..or reading about cooking or gardening, stop it ............. MY HEAD HURTS!!!!!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

P.S. Happy BD Blooms, I would have said it earlier but my brain froze on the list.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Lets see, my favorite thing is taking care of Samson,
visiting my children, grand children, and great granddchildren or they visiting me.
don't ever want t be without DG
Gardening in nice weather,
always listening to classical music
I love to cook and bake
traveling used to be # 1 on my list but since Samson not so much any morIt is pretty much in that order

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

perhaps we should have birthday # 2 it took forever to get it up

Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY/ANNIVERSARY TO US!!!

Blooms Happy Birthday to you. Kooger belated Happy Birthday too! Okus, belated wishes to you also.

Hap, give me a holler if we can get together while you are up north!

Welcome to 1GG......Congrats on the BUTTON Patty. Now when you have fallen and can't get up............you can! BUT we don't want you to ever have to use that button, we want you to keep on the sunny side.

M'5 thanks for the year in review. Is it possible that we are really that gabby? ((((Defoe)))), nasty back!! I just fell on some icy concret this morning and I think I bounced I hit so hard. Thankfully with all the padding I don't think I hurt myself too bad but sure am sore now. What a clutz!

((((Carat)))), come on up out of that hole, the days are getting longer and we are all a reaching down to help you.

Woodspirit, here are some extra Puff Plus's for that nasty ol cold we haven't needed them yet this year.

Mary, Awwwwwwwww, new kitten! We have not had a kitten in the house in over 10 years. Now all we have are a bunch of sluggs that either follow the sun across the floor or lay in their beds in front of the coal stove!

((((Woofens)....so sorry for your pain.

Julie, again a big thank you for this great thread. Been working on this post for over an hour and need to get serious about supper, catch you all later. PARTY HARDY!! Hugs to all I didn't get to!

Are we *really* ready for a Part 2 on this thread?

(Thank you everyone - can't stop to name names now - (I wouldn't want to a "tradition" now, would I??) for the 'thank you's' for starting this thread. But it's like I've said many times before...I'm really only "maintenance person"...it's YOU GUYS who have kept this thread going, and the neighborhood FUN to visit!)

You didn't list my top priotity. Trying my best to be a good representative of JESUS in this lifetime. I may be the only Bible someone reads today.

After that would come trying to be a good wife, mother and grandmother. And good owner of our many critters.

I love to cook, come to DG, do amatuer carpentry(it shows that I am a novice), yarden,& going shopping even if I don't have any money or need anything. Just looking at all the new items in the market place is fun.

I need to go rest now. As soon as my friend Barb gets back from K.C. she will come get me and take me to her DH's work place to get our van. He needed it today as she would not be home from K.C. soon enough for him to use their only vehicle to go to work. I have a few items I forgot to get last night so will do more of that shopping.

GOD bless and keep each of you.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks Leaflady..."Faith" has been added to the 'category' list...I had listed 'Angels' in there as my symbol for all the Blessings we share. Perhaps I had it in the wrong place. :-)

~julie~

Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)

Julie, how about: reading, LAUGHING, gardening, EATING (but hopefully less in a few days!!), shopping, CATS, LOVE DG, flowers. Thanks leaflady, yes to Jesus and what you said. Some days when DH is so !!@!! I have to remind myself that I may be the only bit of ??heaven?? he sees. So FAITH too Julie
--Joy who is very curious!

I love to read. Have always kept my nose in a book. That's why I love my computer. It has put information at my fingertips. LOL

Cooking is my hobby. Well, it use to be before DG. LOL It's easy as I'm lucky to have one of those DH who will eat anything. He never fusses or wines when supper doesn't turn out, and he loves to try new things.

As for eating ¡K now who can love to cook without lovin to eat. LOL Yep, I'm in this category too! ƒº

Shopping ¡K Let's go!

There's usually always some music at my house. The DH is the TV bug ¡K not me. Gotta have my music!

Laughing ¡K This one is easy enough. I learned a long time ago that life just wasn't worth it if you couldn't laugh at yourself. I spend a *lot* of time doing this one. ƒº

I definitely LOVE DG. This is where all my friends are ¡K where I come for advice, comfort, a laugh or just plain ole fun.

I couldn't live without my computer, so I have to put my name on this one, also. This is how I do *everything*. LOL How did we ever manage without them?

Gardening ¡K Well, this is how I got here! LOL

I love all animals. That includes horses, cats, and puppy dogs ¡K with puppies first if you don't mind. LOL

I love to travel and get to do that occasionally with the DH when he goes on business trips. I love seeing new places and trying different types of food ¡K so you see ¡K I *really* do belong in that group. LOL

As for angels, why yes ¡K I do believe in them. Have met quite a few here on DG.

I love anything that grows ¡K but mostly just plain FLOWERS!

I think that about sums it up. It's great getting to know ya all. Hugs to you, Julie, for starting this "coffee".
Hugs&blessings ¡K Elaine

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

IO1, what does ¡K mean? and ƒº
I thought I knew all the little symbols for things, but now I'm confused. ROFLOL
Susan

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

I was wondering the same thing Kittymom. So Elaine what exactly are those symbols, and you write as though your husband had a choice in the surprise area with dinner. At least before this Christmas.

Meezer be nice to me or I am giving my SIL your address. ROFLMAO Now that would be a short trip. LOL

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Joy...so you're curious, eh? LOL That's just what I wanted to do, get everyone curious enough to tell me a little more about themselves...and so far it's working. The reason? ~giggle~ You'll see!

I certainly hope I get a few more people willing to go through my list and give me some more insight into their personalities. (For those of you who have already responded, I'll make it worth your while. :-))

Casey...I was going to agree with Sheila on the "short trip"...but it seems to me that you're trying to take her with you. hahaha.

Oh...I forgot again!! Sheila! I LOVE that picture of you!! It's great!

Happy Aniversary/Birthday!

Sorry I'm later for the party. I have been at the garden for a few months and feel truly blessed to have found this site. This crew at the coffee table is amazing.

To those of you with birthdays that I missed HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

To those with aches and pains. I will keep you in my prayers.

As for favorite subjects? I think all of the above. I love animals. I like to read anything except horror stories. I like to cook ( not really good at it, but like try new recipes) Love to "try" to keep up with DG.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I went shopping allllll day with a friend, got home and DS called and wanted to go back in to Sam's so I did. Now my feet are smoking from all that walking and I need to cool them off and soak the poor misused things! While I was gone, you goobers went wild with yacking - shouldn't you be cleaning? LOL

We went to Pizza Hut for their buffet for lunch - I was proud of myself - didn't stuff myself and could even leave with my pants still buttoned!! Just had dinner in front of the computer reading about all the stuff you guys did all day. DH is snoozing in the chair - he comes alive at 9 or 10, just in time for me to hit the hay. We are on opposite schedules!!

My friend bought a digital camera/memory stick on my Sam's card and she found out she had the wrong memory stick, so I had to take it back and get the darn thing working. She went home and had dinner with her DH - I was steamed.....it was HER camera, but being the good friend that I am , I did it for her. She owes me BIG time!! She's a good friend, but one of those people whose house is always immaculate etc. They used to live next door to us and she would send her kids over to my house at 10am every morning to play - however they never could play at her house. Guess her priorities are different than mine, but we have been shopping buds for 30 yrs. We've remained friends despite her moving away= and talk almost daily.

Defoe- push real hard and get rid of whatever is stuck in a pipe. (hope it's not another nasty stone)

Wood- sorry about the crud you have. I think now is the time to hit the boss up for a raise - now he knows how much he depends on you. Wash your hands before you come to the table please... LOL

Blooms, if that was me, I would have grabbed a spoon and dug in! Wouldn't want to waste good pie filling! I'm not a pie maker, so that looked good to me!

Bal- I'm a crossword puzzler too - love them. Have you ever tried sudoku?? It's a number logic puzzle- love them.

Mary, I am not a wine drinker at all - have tried and tried to like it, but just downing a glass takes all night! But DS makes kaluha and I could drink one of those nightly!! I'm actually hooked on water for now..

Melissa- pull up a chair....Hmmm, aren't you the person who just got their teaching degree. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd go back and reread some forums.

Woof- good grief, did someone hit YOU with the 2x4? How in the world does that happen?

I love most everything in life (ok, horses would be on my short list- I think they are beautiful creatures, but am scared silly of them.) I need to go visit Mary and she can calm my fears

1gar- What!! you going back to work??? It's time to stay home and play in the dirt with the rest of us!! After two back surgeries - you deserve to stay home for awhile!!

Time to get the jammies on - all this partying has made this old bag tired!!

ps- gotta good one for ya. I took all my cookies over to DIL and left them there. Today when she came over I said "oh, could I have some of my sugar cookies back - I didn't mean to leave them at your house" She had that paniced look come over her face and said she had dumped them in the trash!! Maybe the diet will start earlier than planned!! We laughed at that one!!

Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)

Julie........you are an evil woman!! I see that "look" behind your little smile!!

Suzieq......it is an addiction you know!!! But, got to love it.

M5, another picture for my collection so I can put a face to the person!!

Elaine, shopping!!! Lets go! Went to Lowes today and got 75% off my Christmas stuff!!

Joy

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

SARV!!!!! here is the 2X4 now you march over there and smack her one for throwing my share in the trash.

Hi Joy. Thanks for the helping hand. I am slowly climbing out. First Christmas as an orphan.

I am staying out of the stores and away from shopping. I need to save my money for the new house.

CASEY!!! Aren't you supposed to be downloading stuff???? What are you doing in here! (Good grief girl, YOU started this frenzy...now GET BUSY!! LOL)

Ohhhhh, Robert! Those girls are *too* gorgeous! No wonder you're so captivated by them. I just wanted to reach in and hug 'em. (Got all 'squishy' just looking at them...) And thanks for answering my little 'questionaire'. This is going to be interesting. hehehehe Nevermind! I just figured it out! (off to update my notes!)

~julie~

Robert, ohhhhhhh so sweet!

Carat, So sorry for your loss......my folks made our Christmas as children and still such sweet memories. Please hang on to those memories that make you smile. Just because Julie got us all together.....don't let her boss you around too much..lol. She is having way too much fun! ;-P

Sarv what a hoot about the cookies. That is the only way I wouldn't eat them!

Julie I am curious but bedtime for me.........You can bet I will be checking in very early tomorrow.

what fun,

Hey y'all
Gosh, I posted a while ago ... got back to see what a *mess* I had made of it and have been trying to get on DG to straighten it out for an hour now. I have NO clue what all that garbage is in my last post, so please please just overlook it. I copied Julie's little questionaire into Word and filled it out ... brought it back over here and posted. Never knew anything was amiss with it until I got home from WM. Noticed everyone was asking about all the symbols in my post so zoomed up and took a look. Yikes! How did all that junk get in there anyway? LOL Soooo, no secret meanings. Sorry! I'm tooooo lazy to go up there and try to edit it.

... Elaine

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Ok Joy...hope you haven't gone to bed just yet.

The reason I asked those questions was so I could pick out an embroidery design that I could make each the group who answered my 'category' post. I have several little items that I can put smallish designs in or on...and I plan on sending them as I get them stitched out.

It's my little Birthday gift for my friends. I just wanted each one to be a bit more personal. So that's why I asked you guys to, basically, pick your own 'surprise'. :-)

G'night Joy.

Elaine...those characters that were copied from Word are not something anyone would normally see while working in the software. Right now I can't think of the proper name for them, but it's not unusual for it to happen when you copy text from a something that has a format to something (DG's reply screen) that is text only. I don't know if you're familiar with it or how it would behave with your talking computer...but you might want to use the Notepad for copying and pasting.

I'm not done for the day just yet.

:-)

Ok, here is the picture of my birthday gift - made from olive wood from the West Bank......

dfcat - not new 'green card' problems, still the same old thing, trying to get my renewal. I did my Dutch citizenship completed but that old 'green card' is an elusive one! grrrrr!

julie - hmmmm - faith, reading, laughing, love DG, sewing, gardening, cat, dog, travel.....'bout it, I guess!

Thanks Julie for the info. If I'd only previewed my post before I posted it ... I'd have seen that mess! LOL It's weird, though ... they I just need to be more careful when posting. LOL sure weren't in *your* questionaire over in word! Like you said ... guess it's just something that happens there. :)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well I am late checking back in. Now to list my favorite things, reading, in the winter, gardening in the summer, DG, just love this place, pets, dogs especially, although I do have kitties. Computers, Laughing, mostly at myself, cooking, trying new recipes, love horses, music, DGD, crafting, into mosaic now, making yard art, my family, especially twin sister and mom. Gee just say I am an agreeable person and let it go at that!!

I would have done the same thing Sarv. Have had trouble saying the word "no", so end up doing things I really don't want to do. DIL did what? That should be labeled a felony, murder of sweets.LOL

Here's extra puffs for the colds, Carat, get out of that hole, here's my hand to help you,

Wonder if Hap is at her destination and shivering?

Haven't heard from Molly or Darius, still no phone?

Woofens, who hit you with the 2x4? No wonder you are in pain, fractured shoulder blade, just how in the world did you do that? Aerobics, did that one time and recouperated for 6 weeks, that is dangerous exercise!!

Maria, saw pics of Samson on the pets forum, what a cutie. We have the "stray dog" here again tonight. Don't see it during the day, just shows up at night. It is a mixed breed, black and white, pretty big. Mr. B was raising Cain to get out, and when I opened the door for him, he ran, tackled him and had him penned to the ground. Now this dog is 3 times bigger than Mr. B, but nobody has shown him a scale, or a tape measure. He just feels big! LOL.

Kooger was it you who posted that profound item. All of it is so true, I have at last been able to put aside anything to talk with a friend, or go to lunch, or go shopping on a minutes notice, well not a minute, just give me 15minutes to hop in the shower and put on some makeup and clean clothes, and I will be readu

Well, I have done little today. The couch has been my best friend. Made some chili this morning, paid some bills, did 2 loads of laundry and hit the couch, to watch the noon news, and woke up at 4:00, just in time to think about starting supper. My back is still hurting, but not as bad as it did the other day. So have existed on Tylenol and plenty of fluids.

Well I am taking my Tylenol PM, and hope for a good night. If the animals will curb natures call, maybe I will poke DH to get up and let them out tonight, seems he sleeps through this every night.

Well I have enjoyed the party, but... "turn out the lights, the party's over". Looking forward to celebrating this event next year.

Good night all.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Kooger, that is georgeous, I want one too!!

Blooms, Happy Birthday, have meant to say that the 3 times I have posted today. Just celebrate again tomorrow, and you have my blessings.

Please add travel to my favorite things. Kind of addicting, as is DG.

101, I thought you had been hired by the FBI or something, and it was code that you were speaking in!! LOL. Even though I had read all the posts, was wondering if Ihad missed something.

Well, I really am going to bed, will check in early in the morning. The jam cake is on the counter, will you all please finish it up for me?

Good night.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Kooger...that's beautiful! But to have it made from wood from the Holy Lands is something else, again.

Elaine...you're very welcome.

dfcat - it was okus, but thanks anyway... I have no problem taking credit.... LOL oh, the nativity,....send me about $125. and I can send u one... they're a bit less after Christmas. I've been wanting one for years but never visited that shop since they moved downtown. It's one of those shops that has artisans from around the world and they buy direct so that they eliminate the middle man and get a fair price for their work. At least that is the premise, and I choose to believe it. :)

ok, beddyby time.... 'truste' all

LOL Defoe! Tooo funny. I should have just said ... You mean you don't know what *that* stands for? Could have kept all y'all going for a bit. Sure hope your back feels better in the a.m.

Sarv, can't imagine any sane person throwing away sweets, can you?

Maria haven't sent hugs and kisses to Samson lately. Please do at least give him a hug for me. LOL

Karot, sure hope that nasty cold is better in the morning.

Did I miss Kelly's post or did she just not check in today?

I bought some Hershey's chocolate mint kisses tonight on the discount table. Never had them before, and they're soooo good. Am leaving them here on the table for those who like chocolate.
Think I saw a couple of new faces at the table, so hello to y'all. Hope everyone has a good night.
