How old are you? Feeling nostalgic

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

I was looking at my info on my homepage here and thought it would be fun to see links to eveyone's first post on davesgarden. Probably quite varied and different forums. Mine is rather blah, but itis old.

You made wonder, what was my first post?
I thought it would be a 'How to' question but I was wrong, again. lol
I've only been here for 2 months so I don't feel 'old' at all.

Merry Christmas

You got a cutting? I remember when coleus were popular houseplants. My grandma always had lots of them on window sills. There are so many varieties and colors now, and even sun tolerant ones.

I *thought* my first post was an intro or a question. My first post was apparently a prayer request. Sadly that situation is still with us.

Hopefully one day you will have your prayers answered. I think a lung transplant is used in such cases now with some improvement.

my first post was trying to identify a snake that Terry found dead (i didn't even know who Terry was then! lol) my first thread, ironically, was also about snakes. i guess i wasn't too impressive, nobody ever acknowledged me or my thread! LOL debi http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/523414/

Mine is just from May 1, 2005, the day I subscribed. It was about variegated irises. If I could do a link I would.

Sarahskeeper,

Hard to believe but that photo was taken about 20 years ago.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

My goo'ness! I dont' even know how to find my first thread. Lots of them to wade thru, me thinks.

Big Red...love the pic!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Horseshoe, Go to 'My Info' scroll down to "Threads you have started" and click that. Scroll to the last entry, that should be your first one.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmmm...thanks Andy P.

However, I scrolled down, many pages, and came up with this:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/4583/

I don't think that is my first post but I bet that's cus my posts go back so far even Dave can't find them. ( It was probably a "Glad to be here" post. Trust me, I wouldn't start off my "Life at DG" with a post of me naked in a wash tub!)

Fun thread though. Thanks, Windy and others!

Shoe.

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

shoe, went to your thread, loved that, then went to gardenwife's thread located within yours. what great old threads. we should bring some of those back. debi edited to make sense.

Thanks Shoe. Wish I was that young again. That one was taken when we were in our forty's. ☺

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Here's the first thread I started. It was an intoduction thread and I just noticed that I didn't watch it. Therefore, I never responded to it. LOL I still didn't know how to do that I suppose. From reading what I posted, I had been posting elsewhere, but this is the first one I started. August 2001 http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/84633/

thanks for asking windy (lol) finally! yes, actually, i think it did. it came in a small bottle and you dilute it. i have enough to make alot more bottles as it's very concentrated. it smelled alittle like cinnamon if i remember. anyway, i sprayed it all around the house, at the doors, etc. but esp. at the garage door entrance. i haven't seen a snake since and believe me we saw them almost every day. so yes, i would say it worked. debi

Pirl, and anyone else wanting to know how to put in a link to their thread,

Your 'browser' bar at the top, the one that has the web address in it, if you 'left click' with your mouse, at the very left, hold it down and go all the way to the end, you will notice it go blue.
Then left click on the 'edit' tab next to the 'File' at the top left of your computer, hold it down and slide to where it says 'copy'. When you get to it, let go. This will save only one at a time, but you won't see it.

Next, go to the place you want to 'paste' the link to, i.e. here, or anywhere for anything else. Click with your mouse at the place you want it, as you would to begin typing, so the 'flashing line' is in place.

Then go back to 'edit', again left click on the tab and hold down, sliding till you reach 'paste', then let go. hey presto, you will have your link put where you want it, magic!

Someone had just given me step by step instructions on how to post a photo on here because I wanted to take a photo of the flowers so I could send out some seeds. At that time it seemed so difficult, now it's simple..

My nephew is station at Elgin I think it is called. They were here last summer visiting and I couldn't believe there was a rattle snake in their yard. I guess with every good thing (Nice lonf growing seasons) there is a down side. I get the little guys, garter and garden snakes. The neighbor brought me two little guys one summer and I put them in my bushes near the house. Lots of difference between the good and bad guys. We live near a creek and I worry the water moccasins might travel this way.

Here's mine... "Brug begging" (well, I was willing to trade!)

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/39982/

I noticed that some posts within that one were deleted....and....I recall now that there *was not* a Brugmansia forum at that time.

The double white is still eluding me.....I simply can't get them to root! I recently killed another one.

I think I have P&C under control now...(.thanks to a plant I was gifted with)..... it already had roots.

Some things never change (lol) !

Edited to (ahem) add the link.

Here's my first thread, a week after I joined. Funny how DG is just as addicting as it ever was!! When I'm talking to people and I say I have a friend in North Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio or California (every other state and many countries) I get some strange looks. Sometimes I explain, sometimes not. Gotta love how Dave has brought us all together...

My first post was on Upper Midwest Gardening, answering the call of Cimicifugia. I was suprised to see I've racked up 10 pages. Time flies when you're having fun!

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

LOL! It sure does. The years just fly by.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh my gosh, how fun!

And yet how embarrassing. My first post was in October of 2000
to complain the site was not working properly, LOL. Sorry, Dave! :-)

This site just gets better and better every day. And to think I used to
spend so much time at 'another' garden site. You know, the slow loading one.

Well, my start here was a sad but happy start....

here's the thread I first responded to....I'm somewhere in the middle replying to all you great people. (many are still devoted members of DG)...
