Coffee and...For Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005
Good Morning every one
Going to throw some balls for Samson
Maria - shouldn't you be in bed!! I can't remember when I stayed up until 2am (teenage years I think!) I go to bed early and get up early!! But if I take allergy meds at night, I get a pretty good sleep - but gosh, I hate to take those darn pills. Isn't the pet store fun? Do you take Samson with you? The ones around here encourage you to bring your pets. I've never taken any of mine because I was afraid of fights!
Yes, my kitty returned. Full of snow and burrs and wanting to be petted. She's a lover.
Been watching the transit strike in NYC - what a mess! I visited there years ago - wild place, but wouldn't want to live there. We go to Chicago once a year for fun and I feel the same about that place. Who in the world would want to live there and raise a family - but for singles, I bet it is the cats meow!
Today after huff and puff, I am going to return gift for DIL and pickup another one, then do grocery shopping (oh my aching back!!) I wil do that just before DH comes home so he can carry the stuff in the house!
Still haven't baked or wrapped a thing.....can't get my hinny in gear. And my house needs a going over too. Oh well, things always get done...time for ,my morning yogurt!!!
Hope everyone is doing fine!
Sarv, guess I do not need much sleep! I have to take take Ambien just so I can sleep a few hours, also have this dumb restless legs syndrome that drives me crazy.
Been watching the news too thinking of my son who has to use PT to get to school where he teaches, must be hard in this cold weather for everyone not getting a ride.. I would not mind living in NY, the city has so much to offer what I am interested in, the museum, opera, concerts and many more things but I don't think I could afford to live there the way I like to.
No, I do not take Samson with me just can imagine what he would be like, knocking every body over and thinks he can play with every dog that is there lol
It is cold again about 21' did not stay outdide very long
Good Morning,
Sarv, so glad your kitty is back safe, and sure understand the getting things done. At least got most of my shopping done yesterday. Who can say 4 or 5 loads in from the car!
Maria, I am so amazed by the change in you since Samson came into your life. I bet your cheeks even glow now, especially after playing in the snow! We have 9 degrees this morning. I want to try your recipe for the tea cakes they sound yummy.
Molly and Darius, ((((((())))))). You remind me of how blessed I am. I have always been so thankful for heat, light and HOT running water. Keep your chins up, figuratively speaking. You will probably be much warmer, though, if you keep them tucked in your turtlenecks.
(((((Ann & DH))))), you are in my prayers. D'cat, will continue to pray for DMIL. M5 what a sweetie, so hope you get to spoil him over the holidays.
Hap, sure hope we get to meet up over the holidays. Heck, I need to go to Rochester area, the sales the sales.....they are already looking good. Really want to go to JoAnn's ETC at Southtown Plaza.
GG, so glad the program went well. The nativity is the same one I was drooling over yesterday at BJ's, but it is still there. I am fascinated by the beautiful brick work behind the scene. I could kick myself I passed up a $40 snow globe nativity at Penny's that with the coupon I had would have cost me $10!!! Nuts I am nuts! But didn't want to buy for myself. Now I will have to make another trip 70 miles round trip!
MaryE, I so enjoy your posts. You sure are made of stern stuff to go out every morning to take care of your babies. Chopping a hole in the ice! Oh my!! Bless you.
Janice, ((((())))) and prayers.
Carol the odd one, What a blessing the sweet grand baby! We need a symbol for pinching babies cheeks. lol
Elaine, what a Christmas you have given us!!!!!!!!!!!! Does it have a button that says "get off the puter, and get busy" ?????? That is what I need.
Makshi, not sure I know you, but I am not a big poster....but a big reader. Welcome.
Caret, are you counting the days? Will be great when you are in our time zone, boy do you westerners get me easily confused. lol
McCool, like the idea of sparkles on the cobwebs!!!
Julie thanks for bringing us all together. Everyone have a great day and I am sure we will all be busy being Glorious OB's the next few days.
Joy
Joyous - I've also got roots in Rochester area - grew up in Fairport. But I'm more oriented to Eastview than to Southtown. But maybe we should all meet in rochester sometime. ;-)
Good morning to all.
Just a quick one. Am going to try Aquafit this morning, though the back problem is still there - seems to be more of a pinched nerve on one side and radiating down into the thigh. Got lots better mid-day yesterday and worse again in the evening so that I was really hobbling around. Feels better this morning; so maybe some exercise will be good for it.
Have to go get the hairs cut and stop by the FC for the files from last night when I was playing the concert.
More later. Hope you all have a good day.
Ann
Ann, I am from Himrod which is half way between Geneva and Watkins Glen. I too am used to Eastview and ALL the new surrounding stores. But the JoAnn's ETC is great for craft supplies and is near the BJ's and Sam's. I do not go into the city unless it is a dire medical problem. Getting to Strong Hospital is far enough, country girl at heart. lol. I would love to meet with you, any time you are planning a trip this way let me know. During the spring--fall I am busy with my shop on Saturdays other than that I can pretty much come and go as I please.
MSJen, Hap, Debbiesdaisy and I have been looking at a meeting before the end of the year at the Cracker Barrel off 390.
Sounds like a busy day ahead for one and all. I managed to clean up the kitchen last night, some Grinch threw flour on the floor, must be the same one that piles up all that laundry for me to do. Slept from about 10:45 last night until 6:30 this morning!! With no help from a sleep aid, woohoo! I'm like Maria, don't seem to need all that many hours, but it sure felt good. Sometimes, if I'm having a restless night, I just get up and read.
GG, quadruple hair coloring ! Can you sneak a picture? That sounds wild! All your customers must be getting gussied up for the Holidays. (Or to be politically correct, Christmas!)
IO1, you slept through the service call after all you went through to get it? I can't believe they actually called your DH, here, the guy would have stuck a note on the door and left! Did he fix it? Watch out for jealousy from your other appliances, they tend to want attention, too. When my Maytag dishwasher failed for the second time (same problem) I got fed up with it, and replaced it with a Kenmore. Sears was offering a huge discount on disposals, but I figured I didn't need one so I passed on the offer. Guess what blew up next? Ya, right. The disposal. Grrrrrr.
Having lunch at the pie place with DD and DIL today. Going to see if I can entice DD into going to Beloit with me to pick up those plates I won on Ebay. Cheaper to buy two gallons of gas than pay $9.50 for shipping. Think she'd go for a couple of those cabbage rolls I froze a couple weeks ago? She loves them, her DH doesn't so she never makes them. And maybe that seller has a piece or two of blue willow she hasn't listed yet...........LOL (Reminder to self, take cash!)
Ann, Maria, and all else ailing with aches and pains, I wish you a good day.
Sarv, I'm glad the kitty showed up, it's such a worry when the weather is so cold. It was 2 degrees here last night. Supposed to get up to 24 today, and the sun already bright, so it could happen.
Ann, Maria, and all else ailing with aches and pains, I wish you a good day. I hope Molly and Darius are keeping warm.
I need to make a phone call to the car dealer to blister his ear about why the repair on my trunk lifter failed after six months!! Wish they could just disconnect the inside lever and I could just use the key but I'll bet it's one of those fancy servomechanisms that does both and they can't separate the functions. If I have a flat, I'm up the creek because the spare is in the trunk.....!
To all the rest of you, take a cup of coffee and a treat off the counter, and back away from the computer and get busy. That's my plan. But then you know about how my plans go...............LOL
Well have been up since 6:00 a.m. Woke up with arm hurting, got up and took some tylenol and thought I could go back to sleep, but no way. So have been sitting here working at the computer. Been having some problems with the puter, but all seems better now. I am now going to try to transfer my pictures to a CD. I am such a dork at doing things like this. Anybody have any advice for this task?
Sarv going to huff and puff and Ann to Aquafit, about the only exercise I expect to get today, was running about 50 yards to the mail box for the paper. It is 13 here this morning, and I ran out in gown and robe. Made that trip in record time.
That gathering in NY sounds like fun, wish I could join you.
Kitty is home, gifts to exchange, cookies to bake, houses to clean, everybody is busy.
I have to go out to bank, post office, florist, library, dry cleaners and grocery. These are just miscellaneous errands. The grocery shopping and Walmart is scheduled for tomorrow.
MIL should hear from the surgeon today, so will let you know when and if a decision is made. Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
And Julie, if you are the one responsible for this thread and bringing us all together, A BIG THANK YOU for that.
Everybody keep warm today.
bbl
D'cat, we would love to have you!!!!!! But being we are pretty well located around Rochester it may be prompt to. And I have an empty room except for lots of plants in it if you need a place to stay and don't mind a messy! lol. I'd like to see that hair color too.
Off to the mall in Elmira area, going to get that snow globe, I hope!
Hi all, missed everyone yesterday, and Sunday, I think. Can't remember back that far. Baked up a storm finally - 5 dozen pecan tassies, xlarge pan of speculaas, and icecream bucket full of peanut clusters. Yum! yum! think I've already gained back teh 5 I lost in Nov.? sure hope not!!
darius - u worry the pants off of me! this country is just too darn big and spread out! that bedroom is still empty..... I know, I know, the cold air isn't gonna do ur lungs any good, but neither is stress!!
There's a crested bird outside the window, gotta run and see what it is!!!!!!!!!! later all....
Good morning.
Joyous, the reason I do the outside chores (horses) is because they are my horses and my hubby is not an animal person. I never complain and only ask him for help with any of the chores when it is necessary for me to do so. He feeds them when I am gone or really sick, but otherwise the animals are my project.
Maria, your restless leg problem would probably respond to taking calcium and magnesium citrate. It's good for muscles.
Ann, how did the concert go? Did the light stand you bought help as much as you needed?
Now I understand why Sarv was pushing ice down her disposer, but having never had one I didn't know that. Is it true that they don't like coffee grounds? Well, those would be better for your flower bed anyway. I put mine in my compost pile along with any other vegetable trimmings, etc, from the kitchen and eventually spread that around on the flower beds and vegie gardens.
My sister called yesterday and said she is going to town today and so am I so we will meet there (roughly half way between her place and mine) and we'll have lunch together. She sounded pretty upbeat so this is a good time to see her. Sometimes she is just complaining too much for me, and after an hour on the phone I sure wouldn't want to hear it all again the next day. She is my older sister and giving her any advice is out of the question. We'll see how it goes today. I will go in early to get most of my errands and shopping done before I meet her.
The weather is warming up and the roads could get slick by mid day, so it will be good to have most of the traveling done. The streets and traffic in town is what concerns me the most. Hubby said it was a mess yesterday when it was snowing and blowing all day, but they should be caught up with pushing the snow around and getting the streets sanded by today. All winter we have big mounds of snow in the middle of the street taking up at least one lane. And of course, you're on your own in the icey parking lots!
Yesterday I made some brownies with chocolate mint chips and nuts in them. OOOOO BOY! those are good. The recipe is on the Guittard bag of green mint chips. I only sampled one, how's that for self control!!
Oh, speaking of meeting, it looks like you folks are planning for some of you to get together, that is great. Be sure and take pictures when you do that so we can all see your smiling faces.
I'd better get dressed and get my chores done. Walking to the spring in the snow with winter boots on is great exercise, it is about 1/4 mile round trip, half of it uphill, and I do it twice a day. Neut, our big cat follows me like a dog. He just gets there and it is time to come back but he does it every day. He is 15 pounds + of loveable tubbyness. Here is a picture of him waddling through the snow.
Thanks,Mary, according to Dr. have no calcium deficiency, have very strong bones and am as straight as an arrow, DH used to tease me about that saying I walk better then any soldier lol but I may need mc, willl look into that
Your cat is gorgeous, wish Icould have one of them too but am alergic to them besides I don't think Samson would care for it, he will think it a toy and shake it as he doeswith them.
Have a good time with your sister, reminds me of poor Darius who has nothing but problems with hers.
What are speculaars, Kooger?
Morning all
Mary ... believe it or not, I'd actually love going on those walks with you. Kota and I love to walk. She was born in MI and raised in WI her first year. Wonder if she'd remember the snow? It would be fun to watch her play in it. Hey Maria ... bet Sampson and Kota could have fun together. He'd tire her out in no time flat! She's 10 now, so Samson would run rings around her.LOL
That meeting y'all are planning *does* sound like fun. If anyone comes to GA ... you're always welcome. I'd love to meet you. :)
Sarv, am glad you kitty cat is okay. I'd sure be plenty worried about mine in that cold.
Defoe, am glad to hear the good report from your MIL's heart cath. Am praying things work out.
Molly and Darius am thinking about y'all. Stay warm, if that's possible! LOL
M5, I'm gonna have to be *real* careful. I have a plan, though. Use to ... everytime the DH saw me on the computer ... he thought I was playing. That was true at first, because all I knew how to do was send emails. Of course now, I use it for everything. So he's accustomed to my being on the computer a lot. I figure I'm pretty lucky with having a talking microwave. If I want to play with it ... I'll just go boil a cup of water! He'll never know! You're right though. Looks like they could come up with a talking washer and dryer to *make* me want to do that! LOL
I know I've not spoken to everyone, but I've got to get up from here and get busy. I'll check in later.
... elaine
Good Morning everyone!
Thought I'd better drop in before I either forget or ....uh...forget! Yeah, that's it. hehehe
I've been trying to stay out of trouble, which isn't easy for me to do. LOL Yesterday, I finally made it through one complete Embroidery digitizing tutorial and finished up one design. (Not that it will ever get sewn out, mind you...but I have one more to add to my collection. :-D)
It's good to feel *good* about sitting in front of the computer for a few hours and actually come away with something accomplished. It's also hard to believe that when home embroidery/sewing machines hit the market I was the first one to *write* the tutorials and other how-to books. Now I'm so far behind I have to buy everyone else's. HAHAHA (Do we have any lurking embroidery designers? If so, do you (by any chance) remember JazzerStitches? That was ME! Notice I said *was*. :-))
D.cat...yep, I'm the one who started the thread nearly a year ago. Our first anniversary will be Dec.27th. WoW! Where has the year gone? (Here's a link to the first installment:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/475344/ )
And we've become quite a group in that time, haven't we. We've cried a few tears (happy AND sad), we've worried about our friends and the situations they've found themselves, in and we've smiled, giggled, and laughed until we've wet ourselves (at least I know *I* have...LOL)
I think we need to plan on having a party on the 27th. We need to start thinking about some of the things we remember most about our time at the table. You all might to, when you have time that is (~giggle~), jot down a few notes that you'd like to add to our anniversary party. I just might get some time to do that, too! :-D (Does anyone have a list of regulars? Or am I going to have to go through the string of threads (pun intended! LOL) to get them for myself?
Well...I'm sure there are more posts that have been added since I started writing this a 1/2 hour ago. So I'll just say "HI!" and get on about finishing up the Christmas Preps I've got going on.
See ya later!
~julie~
GM GOB's and 'Ettes!
Holy crow, you all have been busy with one thing or another. I skimmed the last few days of posts, so please forgive me if I missed anything truly important but I seem to be running in circles lately. Between caring for my Mum, trying to wind up the Christmas stuff, attending squadron Christmas parties, getting cards mailed out and working, and helping care for my next door neighbour who has pancreatic cancer and is not doing well. Bob is only 51 and it breaks my heart to see him suffering like he is. I feel like I'm chasing my own tail.
I have however in all this, managed to convince DH he needs to take a few hours off each day. So, he's going into work at his usual time, 0545, but leaving at noon. The squadron is on holiday hours, working only one shift and he needs a break! He's always at work 1.5 hours ahead of anyone else, stays an hour later than the rest of the day shifters and is on call 24/7 anyway just because of the position he's in. So, starting y'day, he's taking 1/2 day off each day....except today of course. He has a situation to handle, one that's rather sad and it's his duty to take care of this. I feel so badly for him. He never gets a chance to relax anymore. Just the time he thinks things are going OK, something happens and he has to handle another situation. Oy, I can't wait for retirement.
He's actually been asked by the base commanding officer to extend his time in the Navy for another 5 years that he wants to get a special waiver for him and keep him in for 35 years! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! This would entail a Pentagon waiver and it's almost unheard of to keep someone in the military past 30 years now. Although there is a bill in Congress to allow anyone who has reached the rank of E-9 or O-7 or above to be able to remain active duty for 35 years with the compensation of 100% retirement instead of the 75% at 30 years. I don't think I could take it anymore. We've had 28+ years of active duty, separations for many months and even more than a year at a time and I've had it. I want a normal life. No more sea duty, no more wars to go off to, no more deployments and family crises to handle by myself. I think he deserves to retire at 30 years and be allowed like any other worker to fade away into civilian life. I'm looking forward to retirement in 2007.
Well, folks, I need to get my tuchas into gear. I'm failing miserably at getting done what needs to be done. At least my sister volunteered to take Mum to the doctor and get her hair done today. That was on my list of things to do and I was going to drop her off at the salon and try to get a couple errands done while she's being coiffed, but dear sister actually came over y'day as I was leaving for work and offered to do this chore for me. I can't believe it. I felt so blessed and relieved, that's why I have a few minutes to wake up this morning and get my pot of tea brewed and enjoy a few minutes on DG. What a blessing that is!
To those who are facing any dilemmas, I wish you the best and an easy fix to your problems. To those who are ill and not well, I wish you a quick return to health and wellness. To those who have injuries, I wish you healing. For those with family problems, I wish you peace and happiness. We all have issues and we all have to find ways to deal with the problems. It's part of life. Some are worse than others, but I try to remind myself, there's always someone out there with worse problems than mine. I see it daily in my work and when I see someone dealing with a seriously ill child or a family member that has a devastating anomaly I try to remember, but for the grace of God, there go I.
I send my (((hugs))) to each of you and my prayers for your enjoyment of the holidays. Remember to sit back and take a deep breath and don't stress about the little details. It's time to enjoy yourself, not make yourself crazy.
With care, ~Babs~
Dcat - this thread was Julies Christmas present to us GOBs last year. It is one of the best presents I could have had - I have "played " with it almost everyday of the year, and had a lot of fun in toe process. So a big hearty THANK_YOU to Julie, and to everyone else who has kept it, and me going over the year.
We still have issues with water under the foundation - they came today to dig extra drainage chanels - they picked the only day its actually rained in the last six weeks - result chanels full of water and men gone home soaked!! I hope they are back tomorrow because at the moment my front yard looks like the Somme in WW1!! I have had to take down the Christmas Nativity from the front yard, I would like to get it back up before Christmas, so they need to finish!
Last minute shopping to do so see you all later.
Carol
Okus, how aweful that they had to choose today to do that. I hope you are wrung out and dry soon.
Julie, I now have to be greatful for the thread and your embroidery knowledge. Come spring I am forever going to be bowing at your feet. LOL
I called Park Seed today and asked if I were to order could I get an over night delivery done. Since I will only be going down on certain dates I want the items that I order to come only a day or so before I get there so I can get them in the ground on time. They agreed. Yahoo. Now to pray that I can work the soil in early march so I can get my asparagus in the ground this year. My best friend will go over and make sure that they are doing okay and to cover as they grow. So hopefully the first spring in the new house I will have fresh asparagus on the table. I can hardly wait.
DH just called to tell me he found a flower pot outside a work building with a plant in it and is bringing it home. When I asked what type of plant his reply was a green one. Thankfully he is a good cook. LOL
Well I guess I should get back to at least looking like I am working HAHA.
Casey
Asparagus ... did I hear someone say asparagus? Casey, how far away from GA are you moving? :)
Carol, sure hope you get your decorations back up and get that mess straightened out. Looks like they could have picked a better day! LOL
Julie, don't see how you do all that fancy work. Oh, and hats off to you for this thread. I've met many wonderful friends through "coffee".
Babs, have missed hearing from you the past few days. Hope your Mom is doing okay? Can't imagine all those years of sacrifice with the DH and his career. Hats off to both of you. Where would we all be without people like you who are willing to put your life on hold so we can go merrily on our own way with hardly a thought to what you go through daily? Hugs to both of you. Here's hoping he gets to retire and you get to have a "normal" marriage for a while. :)
Okay, got to come up with something for supper tonight. Catch y'all later.
... Elaine
I was going to ask about speculaas too but I didn't want to sound dumber than usual LOL....must be something edible, which always piques my interest! Lunch plans fell through, DIL and other staff at the clinic got roped in by the bosses to deliver hams to their referring physicians, at lunch time. DD doesn't want to go to Beloit, bribery notwithstanding, so I'm going tomorrow. Spoke to the service dept at the car shop and they said to come in this afternoon so they can look at it. Uh huh. a free look but probably no free fix. Unless they can disconnect the inside lifter...we'll see.
Glad to see Kooger and Babs back for coffee. You'll both need a good rest after New Years.
Babs, when my DGS was due to leave the Navy after his four years, his CO told him that he could make him stay, and suggested he think it over. Sounded vaguely threatening to him, but he checked around and found out that they rarely do it, and so he proceeded to exit with no further conversations about it. He's going to school full time now, making good use of the educational benefits and the stipend.
Carat, don't get too excited about the asparagus...it will be three years before you get to put it on your plate. The first two will be the plants establishing themselves....so plan on patience. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I didn't want to see you standing over that patch next spring with a knife in your hand and a pot of boiling water.
Julie, somewhere in this junk heap on my desk I have a list of Coffee and regulars....all I have to do is find it. If I don't emerge before the 27th, send in a search party.
Have a nice block of dipping chocolate from Ambrosia that I haven't used up in baking, think I'll mix up those leftover pistachios, some cashews and almonds and make chunky drops. You don't have to add any shortening to this after you melt it, it will stay shiny without it.
But, first.............car dealer. Then wrap. I hope. Will save the chocolate adventure as a reward for wrapping.
Gotta go.

Meezer, I am buying two year old bare root plants and planting them this year for them to set and hopefully by the spring of 2007 they will be well established by then and I will have some fresh asparagus. I figure 40 plants should give me a good start. I am the only one in my family that eats them so only get a couple from each one will be okay for the first year. Then afterwards I can share with my friend. We both love them and what we dont eat I am sure I will freeze and use later. I am making my own mouth water.
Elaine, I haven't a clue how far you will be from me once I move. The house is about an hour south of Charlotte, NC.
Babs and Kooger so glad to hear from you both.
Oh gosh, It's only 11:35 am here and I am about to fall asleep at my desk. I have put in a request for every seed catalog I can find, downloaded and printed out two large ones to check out tonight when I am at home. I think I would rather be overwhelmed with work then to have to sit here with nothing to do.
Casey
The birds were blue jays, I was hoping to see the cardinals, haven't seen them once yet this winter.
Speculaas (say spay-ku-las) is a spicy bar or cookie. The boughten ones are usually in windmill shapes and called windmill cookies over here. The bar is my Oma's recipe from the old country. Although I am not fond of anise, these don't have a lot of anise and I really like them.
Speculaas
1 lb. butter
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
6 c. flour
1 t. mace
3/4 t. nutmeg
1 t. anise seed
1 t. ground cloves
2 t. allspice
2 t. cinnamon
1 T. baking powder
1 4 oz. pkg. slivered almonds
dash salt
Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
Mix dry ingredients together and add gradually.
Mix well. Press into xlarge cookie sheet.
Press almond halves into top, score lightly.
Bake 300º for ±30 mins. till lightly browned.
Yeah, anise is like black licorice, which I despise! But I love speculaas! lol You can get anise seed in grocery store.
I hab a code in by nobe and I can't type and sneebe abt the sabe tibe.
(Translation: I have a cold in my nose and I can't type and sneeze at the same time.)
I hate shopping during this time of year, it's 9* outside, 115* in the stores with my jacket on, take the jacket off and lug it around, keep it on and sweat.
I have to tell you all something that I find very funny now, but was I was so mad Sunday night. I had a temper tantrum and lost my mind for a little while. My son Nathan has been "cleaning his room" for almost 3 months now, and he took his waterbed frame apart the first day he started that. Well, the frame *had* been laying over the top of the big aquarium in the living room. The day after Thanksgiving I reminded him that my Nativity set that my mom made in 1976 was going in that aquarium and he needed to get his waterbed stuff out of the living room. Last week I reminded him again and told dh off about it too since he was partially responsible for the whole thing. Saturday morning I told him I wanted it taken care of by 5pm Sunday night. WELL.....by Sunday afternoon I was stewing, steaming and just generally working a good mad up. He never touched it. Dh never touched it. So at 5:05pm I sweetly asked Nathan if he could come hold the front door open for me. He did and I chucked every single piece of that waterbed frame out the front door, and into the snow! He tried to stop me and I told him to get out of my way or he would be the next thing sitting in the snow. The frame is now in the garage where it should have been all along, and my Nativity set is in the aquarium and looks fantastic. I still can't quite believe I did that, but you know what? It felt GREAT! Boy the kids were sure careful the rest of the night too, LMBO!!! I think I even scared DH and the dogs.
Maria, I have Restless Limb Syndrome also and I take Senemet for it, generic name Carbadopa/Levadopa. I've been on it since I was 15 and only have been off it while I was pregnant. For those that don't know what RLS is like, try to go to sleep while riding a bicycle because you have to move the muscles in your limbs, they burn, or itch or feel like they have pressure building up in them and you can only relieve it by moving them. Then it starts all over again. And again. All night long.
Ok, back to the couch and my box of tissues.
mg
Mg
I op ou et to eeling etter oon! :) *holding out Klenex to you* LOL
And GOOD FOR YOU! Sometimes we just need to pitch a "mad" fit. Anyone remember that country song ... "I Just wanta be mad?" Well, call me ugly ... but sometimes guess that's the way I feel. LOL I know that's not nice. ;)
MG good for you. He should have been thankful that you waited so long and he is still living there. Did you slip and smack him once with a piece at least once?
I sure do hope your feeling better soon. I have a head cold also. I am just thankful that no one else is here all day and I dont have to worry about spreading it around so close to Christmas Day.
Elaine, my dad use to say "Well call me Ugly and slap a sign on me." Never really understood him but we would all laugh. LOL

LOL Maybe he was anticipating the Jeff Foxworthy "Here's your sign!" gig. LOL
Gayle...ROTFLOL on that one...sound like on a *good* day! hehehe
Hey guys...I might be the one responsible for starting this thread, but if I'd been the *only* one posting, it sure wouldn't have gone the way it has. This thread is one that I only maintain, it's YOUR thread! And THANK YOU ALL for being a part of it!
Elaine...what you mean you don't "see" how I do all the "fancy work"? LOL Of course you *don't*! (just kidding! :-D) At one time the 'fancy work' kept me sane and gave me purpose for my daily existence. I have to have something to keep my mind busy at all times. Since I can't do the hand work involved in regular embroidery and since I love things around me that remind me of family, digitizing seemed to fit naturally into the scheme of things.
Casey...I couldn't help laughing at that "At your feet" comment. You're a NUT CASE for sure! All I'm trying to do is get you HOOKED on embroidery! hehehe You have NO idea of what you're in for, my dear. ~evilest ever grin here~ (Think 'Mad Scientist' wringing hands and laughing).
Well so far all I've accomplished today was an email to Casey. I think I got lost amid all those web sites with all those goodies on them...but somehow I got woke up and blasted back into reality. Reality is that I desperately need to START wrapping packages. LOL (Is it Sarv who is in this boat with me? no matter WHO it is, you'd better start paddling...we're going round in circles!)
Guess I'd better go and clean up the areas where the Satellite installation guys is going to need access to. Tomorrow we're switching over from Dish TV to DirectTV. Not that there's much difference between them. But Direct would give us a receiver for HD tv...and Dish network wanted to charge us FULL price. (...uh....you don't want to know what I was thinking about writing here... ;-))
Ok...HELLO to everyone! I'm reading but not answering individually again...tsk tsk tsk...shame on ME!
I hate to add Special hello's...I'm afraid someone take offense...but, sorry, I have to say HI to Kooger, Babs, and Makshi (You did come in didn't you?) cuz I haven't them for quite a while.
NOW! I'm going!
LOL

I'm here! (waving frantically!) I know, I miss more days than I like but this working full time stuff really knocks the DG time down a LOT! Mon. and Thurs. are the worst - I leave at 6:15 am and get home at 6:15 pm. bummer! Doesn't leave much time for other pursuits. But I always get to the coffee table, sooner or later!! :) Oh, and welcome makshi!
It's me paddling desperately trying to keep up, Julie. Back from the car dealer, they looked at it, took an hour to do it and came and told me there was nothng wrong with it, the latch worked fine. So I came home, tried to open the trunk with the key. Nope. Latch work from inside the car, but it won't open with the key. Explains why they had the key in the ignitiion and the car running. I should have tried it while I was there. Another exercise in frustration. And two hours wasted. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Carat, so sorry to hear about your code and your doze being all stuffed up. Better day tomorrow, I hope. Personally, I love Nyquil, knocks me flat but I always feel better the next day.
Just snuck in for a peek. Bye again. see ya later.
Hi Everybody! You have all been so busy, I feel like a slug. Tonight I will be baking cookies, so look for some out tomorrow morning. Not sure how many kinds I will get made tonight. Don't expect pictures, mine never look as pretty as all of yours do.
Have been really busy at work since I'm off from Dec. 23 to Jan 2. Trying to get things ready to go for the new year. I can beleive another year flew by already!
Darius - So sorry to hear about trouble with your sister. That really stinks!
MaryE - Your kitty looks just like my Tigger. He has his winter fat on now and is really a big chunker.
Carat - Did I see your trying Asparagas? Nothing is better than fresh asparagus. It does freeze well. This next year my bed should produce enough to freeze.
Too much has gone on in the last few days to comment on everything. I'll try to be better at keeping up. To everyone I didn't mention hope all is going well and I'll see ya later!
Oh, someone rub my feet- I shopped all day...and I thought I was done shopping last week!! Returned a toy to toys r us and a book to the bookstore. Would you believe I had to get store credit - I had to cancel my credit card as it turned up missing, but I have a different one to use. I about blew a gasket....I never shop in a toy store- only at Christmas!! Now I have a load of credit to use up.....grrrrrr
Went to the grocery store and spent over 200 bucks and still need to go back for shrimp, fresh veggies, and a load of beer. Cruised thru Wendy's for a burger (no fries...), drove home and promptly my kidneys let loose!! I can't tell ya how often that happens to me!! LOL I've got clean clothes on now....and laundry to do!! I probably need some of the 'dry up' medicine, but hate to take pills, so I'll suffer until I can't take it anymore. My mom has the same thing, we all laugh about it!
Went and bought two small pairs of pants for my inpending weight loss!! Is that optimistic or what?? Tried on a zillion sweaters, but I look like a blow up toy in them...not pretty...
DH just barked- what's for dinner? So better sign off and check the frig....
Well, we had steak, salad and homemade onion rings for supper tonight. I am *miserable*!
Y'all I have a funny story to tell you. I just asked the DH if we had another bag of Folger's coffee cause we bought Eight O'Clock the last time and I don't like it as good. You know what he said? Well, he said ... "I don't know. Why don't you go look!" I said ... "OH ... I *can* go see!" And you know what? We did! LOL
Hugs to all that made this independence possible. It's just a wonderful feeling.
... Elaine

Well I have run around like a chicken with it's head off (and if you haven't actually seen that it is frantic) today. I ran some errands this morning, bank, post office, library, grocery and DMIL's. She gave DH and me a quilt that she had made last summer. I even helped her with it, not knowing that it was mine. It has sentimental value to it, as she used pieces of her mother's dresses in it, and DH thinks that grandmother hung the moon, and and helped make heaven habitable!! She was a dear Christian lady, and when we would miss church on Sunday, she would call on Monday, and DH always tried to avoid those calls, as she would chastise him, but in a loving manner, her favorite saying was, "honey, you know that only those who hold out to the last will be saved." DH still quotes that every chance he gets.
After I got back from the errands, baked a jam cake, and a neighbor came over for coffee. We exchanged Christmas gifts, I gave her a mosaic flower pot I had made, and some homemade peanut brittle, and she gave me a set of 4 glass coasters, that you can put pictures in and fudge for DH. I have only known her for 2 years, and she is almost like a sister to me. Isn't it funny how you can connect in such a short while.
Fixed supper, then worked on another mosaic pot for another neighbor. I have done 5 in all, and they are unique. I love them. Will have to make one for myself.
DMIL heard from the surgeon's office today. She has an appointment on Thursday morning, and she will know then if surgery is an option. She seems in such better spirits this morning, I guess because she got good results on the catherization.
Hey folks, let's put a moritorium on commenting individually to others until after the new year. Everybody is busy, and it is time consuming to do that. I love you all, and enjoy this forum more than any others, and it is the first thing I check in the mornings, and when I can during the day. Julie, I am setting aside some time tomorrow to go to the first thread and read some. Many thanks, this is the most enjoyable part of my day.
Joyous, thanks for the invitation to your mini-round-up, but fear that distance would make it impossible for me to attend. But when you have a meal, please make a toast to all of us who will not be there.
I am having "my Christmas dinner" tomorrow night. I have invited 10 guests, and since all will be full of ham and turkey, I was requested to make fish, hush puppies, cole slaw and baked beans for the meal. So that is what we are having. Christmas is not about what we eat, but who we share it with. Our special friend who has the jack russell I baby sat last spring will be coming and bringing Patches with him. I can't wait to get those good puppy kisses from her, she is such a sweetie.
Mary, your cat looks exactly like my Miss Boots. I have a calico who is a tubby, and imagining her plowing through the snow gave me the chuckles.
Where are the guys, have we run them off completely? Guess they don't make cookies and candy or bake cakes, so they feel that their contributions are insignificant.!!
Remember no more commenting on individual posts until after January 1, 2006. Did I tell you DH and I will celebrate 41 years on the 2nd?
Well going to bed, to see if I can get a full night's rest, what with this arm, and back is hurting tonight. Hello, Mr. heating pad, where are you? I have a chiropractor appointment in the morning, and he may have to cancel all other morning appointments just to work on me!!
Good night all, sleep well, and dream of the sugar plum fairies.
