Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Had a telephone party line too many years ago, had to crank up to get the operator who knew every ones business in town. I thought the whole system was so funny what with coming from Vienna and thinking this country was way into the future with scientific inventions, lol.

Darius you have some sister!
Iam so sorry what she puts you through every time you are with her.

Sarv, Samson does not go near the table or anywhere where there might be food, he is very good about that, but when I put something in myu mouth he wants that too lol

M5, I think it is a wonderful thing you are planning to do for x-mas, more of us should do by helping others.

It is pretty cold here but thank goodness no snow should not have any for the rest of the week. I had a very busy day which I did not expect. The generator people and electrician where here to figure out where to put it, I guess the hold up was the cement slab needed, no one was available in the area.
Had to do some banking then went to a PETCO place for the first time, amazing store, spend a fortune for Samson, tons of toys and food of course, Finally got to the market where I spent plenty again, my daughters are coming to dinner tomorrow evening, thought it would be nice to get togethere before they are living for other places.
It took me forever to clean up kitchen last night finally got to bed around 2 AM. Think will bake some more tonight, keeping up traditions I guess, will pass them out to neighbors.
Meezers, you have a very nice husband

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I wish I had some of your energy, Maria. You are something else. If I had been up until 2 yesterday, I would still be sleeping. Since I was a child, (at 5' I don't say little, because I still am) I have needed about 9 hours sleep a night. If I go several nights with less, I am a bear and I get colds. Go figure.

I also had the party line phone. My father, who ran the bank in our small town had the telephone number of 23....WOW....Now I have to dial 10 numbers to get my next door neighbor. When I worked for the telephone comp right out of high school, they were just changing from the old crank, magneto phones to dial. I could have bought all I wanted for a buck a piece. Wish I had..

Ann, so sorry to hear about DH. Our best friend, age 53, just went though that last fall and he is fine and fit as a fiddle. He just got engaged a couple of months ago, so he must feel OK.

Has anyone heard from D'Cat about her MIL?

Checking out for the day, GOBS. aka sisters. and I guess a couple of brothers thrown in the mix.....

Have a peaceful night and wake up to a wonderful new day.

Hap

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

You just need that sleep, Hap, have a daughter who needs at least 8 hours, she gets colds too if she does not get enough rest.
I do not need much sleep, 6 hours at the most, should O get to bed at 11 pm I am wide awake and up at 5 AM throwing balls for Samson feeding him and reading New York Times with a cup of coffee. This is also a good time phoning my sister in Vienna and chatting with other european friends on messenger funny thing though don't get dressed for hours kind of chilly to be out of doors with just a nightgown throwing balls for Samson but it is very invigorating and it feels sensational to come back into a warm hause.

I just got a new photo of my only DGGS, in their Christmas card. Thought you might want to see what floated up out of the gene pool. We think he's pretty darn cute, but of course we are extremely biased. DD says he's talking a blue streak and curious about everything!! Hope I get to see him soon.

No update from Dcat? I know Babs said she was working every day until Christmas and I suspect they are both exhausted.

Maria, you gave me a compliment that I think belongs to someone else....except for the comment about my DH being a nice guy which he is, altho occasionally drives me crazy with all his car stuff.

Here's the kid. Going to say goodnight, in spite of a nonproductive day, I'm tired enough to go to bed right now!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Carat, this is a Great Grand!! Those are even better than Grands, he sure does look squeezable though. I said I was going to bed didn't I....can't tear myself away from DG LOL

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well sorry to keep you all in suspense. DH got home about 3 this afternoon, and have been busy since with telephone calls and such.

It is good news sort of. The catherization showed no blockages, so the cardiologist sent results to the surgeon who is supposed to call tomorrow. He said the leakage is bad, and needs repair as soon as possible. The surgeon has told her that the surgery could be performed, and the odds were 50-50. So she has told some that she won't have the surgery and others that she will. So the waiting game is not over. Will let you know if the surgeon is in touch tomorrow, and what the plans will be.

Everybody has been so busy today. Baking, cleaning disposals, buying music stand lights, fooling with new microwave LOL, and knowing what you are eating, hearing from Makshi, Ann and her snow, and where are the boys? Sarv making white chili, and a biscotti recipe, Meezers cute pic, Maria buying all that stuff for Samson, and if I have missed anyone, I am sorry, it is not intentional. Had computer problems today, and spent 2 hours fixing it. Seems to be fine now, confounded contraptions, good if they are working right, and downright ornery when they are not. Got a new scanner and scanned pics that cousin brought me yesterday. I have them fixed as my screen saver. They are of my father, mother, uncle, aunt and grandparents. So many memories.

You all remember the dog I kept last summer for a friend who had heart surgery?, well owner and dog, a female Jack Russell are coming to dinner on Wednesday. Told him if he didn't bring Patches the invitation was off. LOL. She is such a sweetie, and hoping that we can get a romance going with Mr. B.!! Wouldn't that be great, little jack russells running around everywhere? DGD brought Mr. B to the Christmas dinner yesterday, as she didn't want him to be by himself all day. Nobody but immediate family members had ever met him, and all fell in love with him. He is such a sweetie, he just comes and jumps in your lap and gives all kinds of kisses. Wooed the women, children and most of the men. A niece by marriage volunteered to exchange dog sitting with me, when we are gone for a few days. They have a Jack Russell also, who loves to play ball. Maria, maybe you need Scooter for a friend for Samson.

Well, I am going to wander toward the bedroom. Hope the night is restful, for me and for everyone else.

There will be fresh blackberry jelly on the counter in the morning, the toaster is out, fix yourself a slice of toast with real butter, and pour your own cup of coffee. If I am still asleep, please be quiet and let me sleep in for a change.LOL

Good night all.

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Just got through baking the second double batch of Honey Fruit Biscuits (kind of a mis-nomer if you ask me, since there's only a teaspoon of honey and the only "fruit" is orange rind!) They taste good anyway and DH is happy that I used an English recipe for one of the cookie choices.

I also managed to get all DH's presents wrapped while he took care of my store today. Now I just have to get the rest of the gifts wrapped, two more kinds of cookies baked, the tree brought in and decorated. At least we don't expect company here (one of my brothers and his wife are having open house this year) so I won't have to throw glitter on the cobwebs. (Someone on one of the other threads mentioned that and I thought it was a great idea.)

D'cat, don't know what to say about your MIL's situation. It sounds pretty scarey for everyone. I can only wish you all the best of luck.

In a similar vein, Ann, I hope everything turns out well for your DH. Please keep us posted.

Sarv, did your cat ever come back? We do everything we can to keep ours in at night because there have been coyotes in the area. I sure hope yours is okay.

Hi Julie, Maria, Okus, Mary, Casey, Darius, Patischell, M5, 101, Joyous, Woofens, Hap,
GG. If I missed anyone, sorry! I think my brain is starting to shut down for the night. Sugarplum dreams to all.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Mary E, that compliment was meant for you, sorry about that

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Makshi...You *must* write more in your post so that we can SEE you. LOL. I sure hope you get over that pneumonia quickly...but please don't overdo anything! I got it right after my DH and were married (42 years ago in November) and was SO sick for Christmas. I still have the snapshot he took of me in bed...trying to smile. (Poor me...hehehe)

Anyway, WELCOME to the table! (If you've been here before, please forgive me for not taking notice.)

Hello to everyone...Good night to all!
