Coffee and... For Dec. 17, 2005

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Julie, am sorry about MIL and alll the others who were not as welcome as was, she always wanted a daughter, she had one but died while being born, she greeted me me with open arms , I called her 'mother ' all the rest of her life. Awfully said when families can't get along.

Had lots of errands to do today, mall, groceries, and the electrician finally showed up for the generator to be delivered next week.

Finished arrangement for the grave, it is huge about 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide turned out just perfect, all of it from our land.
Was going to bake some npre but too tired!
till later

Hello again. Thank you everyone who gave me suggestions for the Christmas letter, it's done and looks good. However, I can't take credit for it, my daughter in law is the one who did it for me. They came out to get a Christmas tree from the national forest land a few miles from us, then came over to visit and I looked pitiful and asked for help. We couldn't find the disc so she downloaded something to put in the upper left corner and then we added a picture of my horses with the house in the background, a winter picture I took a couple of years ago. She couldn't remember how to put a picture on the paper with it so faded out that you can see it but be able to write the letter over the top of it. Maybe next year we can do that. Anyhow, I'm happy with the finished product and will get busy and get them mailed early next week. We're usually through mailing by about the 15th since I try to aim for the 10th and that gives me some wiggle room. This year I kept thinking about it and didn't get started soon enough. Oh well, no big deal. A year from now (or maybe a week from now) nobody will even remember.

Oh Meezer, a Christmas kitty, how sweet! Have they called you back?

Maria, I hope you will post a picture of that arrangement you made. You were going to bake what??

Carol (the even one) it's really great that your son gets to watch his brother wrestle. I hope he does well today.

Gotta get a batch of cookies baked before it's time to feed the horses again. Does it seem to you that that's all I ever do? Seems that way to me sometimes, I go out there and think "I just did this".

Here it is, after dinner, and I just spent another 30 mins looking up Julie's cheese story on the MWG thread....some MILs are beyond tolerating. Several years ago, we made a short trip to deliver a gift to DH's mother, who is incredibly rude. I'm sure he was switched at birth. I had gotten her a nice gift, she of course had nothing for us. She commented that I "looked good" and then followed that with, "But if I had your money, I could look just as good". I bit my tongue, but the following year, I happened to buy an Estee Lauder product, and the bonus with it was this humongous assortment of cosmetics, a tray about 12" by 20", with every imaginable kind of cream, lipstick, blush, mascara, eyeliner, etc. Wrapped it up and gave it to her, and said, "Get started". Told DH that was the last time I was giving her anything. We haven't seen her since.

We had stopped for breakfast after we dropped off our tax check, and I happened to pick up the morning paper that someone had left behind. And there was the ad. Calling to me. Loudly.

And, yes, I did get a call back from Pauline, the disorganized ditzy kitty mom. She has two litters, one 7 weeks old, and one 5 weeks, a total of nine little dynamos. There was only one boy in the 7 week bunch, but two in the younger. We picked them all up, turned them upsidedown and sideways and got in a fair amount of smooching. We picked one little fella from the five weekers, and marked him. He's not for sure a he...sexing kittens is a challenge, all hints about the upside down exclamation point aside...it's darn hard! So, our choice may turn out to be a girl, but we don't care.

As far as DH being concerned, he drove there in record time, and is definitely not a No More Cats kinda guy, he's more like "What's one more?".

And, I ***just happen** to have a picture that she gave me, and there is no guarantee that this is ours, but the color is accurate, and he can come home in about three weeks. I'm just starting to let myself be happy. The girls are going to be so surprised!! Especially our little princess who thinks she is Queen of the World, since all the boys are gone.

Somehow, in the event he pulls an escape trick like the others have occasionally done, I have a hard time picturing myself scouring the neighborhood calling "Tinker Angelpants" without having someone call the Mental Health Police........... Feel free to submit more names, and remember SiameSe like names with SSSSSSs in them.

Did I say hello to everybody? LOL I'm a little ditzy myself!

Quoting:
"Get started"

caught my attention and I couldn't help myself. LOL (I only *wish* I had that much moxy with my own MIL...I'd have put her in her place many years ago. Not that it would have done any good, mind you.) LOVE that kitty!

Hi all!

Meezer, good for you! I'm glad your DH went looking and kitten choosing with you, so you don't have to fib to him about where the kitty came from. I bet it was fun looking and smooching all those little cuties. Let's see, 3 weeks takes us to about Jan 7th, perfect because all the holiday activities will be over by then and all will be fairly quiet at the kitty's new home. I hope your older cats don't give this little newcomer a hard time. You might have to keep that squirt bottle handy to keep the peace.

Ummmm, my house smells so good. Cookies are happening! I'll bring some to the table so we can all have some Russian Tea Cakes. Anybody else make them? Before Christmas I will have to make another batch of these, they disappear really fast. Tomorrow I'll work on fruitcakes and some other cookies.

Everybody sleep well. Goodnight.
