When we bought our house in Phoeenix,Az. 18 or 20 years ago we put 2 skylights in the livingroom first thing. For a few years I had so much sun I had to have shades installed because the sun was so strong it burned the leaves of my house plants. The sofa table got full sun and so I put a crystal bowl on it and the rainbow reflections that went all over the room were beautiful until the heat broke the glass. At night the moon light was so strong that when you walked to the kitchen through the livingroom your body would make moon shaddows as you moved.
There are no trees taller than my house in my yard or in the yards of the neighbors. We are surrounded by the same structures that were there when we bought the house.
Now the livingroom is always dark. I have long since stopped pulling the shades and I never see moon shaddows any more. My house plants have been relocated to the large glass windows that are on 2 sides of the room.
My eyesight has changed but not that much.
I know it takes thousands of years for mountains to change shape on their own.
we are smack dab in the middle Phoenix Mountain Range and man has not changed the ones I can see. So can it be the air in such a short time?
diminishing sun
I forgot to add I have the windows cleaned regularly
Are your skylights glass? I have seen a lot of them that were acrylic, and that material changes over time, especially in heat.
No they are glass high quality double pane with no leaks and crystal clear with no tint. Spared no expense.
Could it be that you just got used to them? I have a similar set-up. One in the LR and one in the kit. Both face south in a house built in 1986. I've seen no change except the outside gets dusty and I don't DO those windows.

It sounds like you have smog, some kind of deteriation in the glass, or a film between the glasses.
I want my "Global Warming" now! ! 11 degrees this morning. If the polar ice caps melt I get ocean frontage. Sell, and move to higher ground. Forcast for tomorrow is snow.
