Basement babies

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Hey, you two are sweet, but I'm serious about wishing to know your top picks so I can set your faves aside for you! :-)

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

With me....minis are ALWAYS top pick.
After that....anything variegated is at the top of the list :)

Oh critter...do you have Bman's allisio and if you don't...I have a plantlet of that now...He needs a home..interested?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I googled but couldn't find it.... tell me about 'Bman's Allisio' please?

I'll put "variagated mini" at the top of your list then, Lorry.... You definitely need a 'Rob's Bunny Hop'! I've already put your name on one of the "Purple Bouquet" noid plantlets also since you said it was a fave.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

That is because I spelled it wrong LOL
I am such a moron..it is b-mans-alessio
here is a link to a lovely plant

Chris...that B-man alessio is a real beauty.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That is a lovely plant -- and huge! Regretfully, I'm going to let you offer it to somebody else... I have limited space for additional standard AVs (at least until I build that "AV annex" LOL), and I've told myself I'm saving that space for more "Buckeyes".... and I've already broken that rule by wishing for 'Music Box Dancer' and a space baby! *sigh*

Ah ha -- you could offer it to Deb! She posted at the same time I was typing....

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL ok Critter..
Deb do you want it?
I mean that is not the IT I have LOL
I have 2 plantlets and I only need one :)

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Chris...I just got back to DG from this a.m. If you still B-man alessio I would really like to have it. Just let me know...it's to cold to ship right now anyway. Deb

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

OK Deb..I will consider Allesio adopted..and that is ok..He can stay here until it is warm enough to ship :) By then he will be a good sized plant.
I will put his name on it for ya.
I seen your list...wow...would love to hook up a trade with you if interested.
My list of plants is up here..though I need to update it with a few new additions!

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Okay Chris....I would also like to work out a trade with you. The next few days are going to be hectic...if I get a chance I'll start looking through your list more intently and let you know what I would be interested in.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I will be adding about 40 more tomorrow Deb :)
Varieties that is!
I got a HUGE windfall from a greenhouse going out of business!
I paid about 40.00 for 40 plants!
Lots of leaves fell off in shipping...so I will be putting those down tonight and cataloging and putting them up as a new addition to my collection thread!

Denver, CO

I just had to put this picture in of the new foliage on 'Rob's Argyle Socks.' (plus, Allison suggested it)
I can't get enough of this violet!

If you 'really' must know what I want, Jill:
Midget Gumdrop (pit-pat-pit-pat goes the heart...)
and Peppermint Girl, i fit's leaves really are such a nice lime green a (and the flowers aren't pale pink!) What color are the flowers? (I could not find a picture on the internet.)

I won't be silly and put up a list of what I have until they have ears and I know that I have what I have... ya?

Denver, CO

Oh, yeah, the picture:
That does no justice.. Oi...

Kenton I don't remember that great variegation. It's sensational WOW
Thabls for sharing / Allison

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

WOW, Lorry, what a deal! I "resisted" the violets in the nursery we went to this afternoon, but I keep calling to see if "Carousel of Violets" here in Winston-Salem (we're visiting DH's folks for a few days) is open.... so far, no luck.... :-(

Kenton, that 'Rob's Argyle Socks' is a gorgeous little plant! My list of varieties includes lots of AVs that I don't have plantlets of (not even ears yet) and even a few that are too small to donate leaves, but I figured if I put the whole list of what I had somewhere, that would let people know what the possibilities were for propagating & trading!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I just love the crown variegation. Colors of fall leaves. So Beautiful. Thanks for Sharing Kenton.

Variegation and the amounts.
I am AMAZED at the difference in variegation from one plant to another.
My argyle socks has very little green in it...this one has a lot.
Very interesting how each is unique!
Lovely phoos and thanks for sharing!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Well Rob's Argyle Socls is only supost to have crown variegation.
Here are two different pictures on FC both different growers. Kentons crown variegation is unbelievable :)) Grwoing conditions sure do change looks. Do you have a picture of your Lotty ?

You can find hers under "my collection," Allison. No flowers, but interesting leaves.

I didn't take my camera downstairs just now, but I'm so excited, I had to give an update anyway. Quite a few of the leaves that I put down the first week in November have tiny ears now! Looks like we'll have about a zillion plantlets (well, maybe a dozen anyway) of 'Cambridge Missy'. A couple of varieties that I had only in leaves (MsC's 'Yesterday's Valentine' and 'Rob's Outer Orbit) have tiny ears showing now, so I'm especially happy about that. I cut off and potted crowns from plantlets of 'Ramblin Angel' (from MsC - thanks!) and 'Champagne Pink'. Lots of new growth on the sections of 'Allegro Appalachian Trail' that I divided up recently, so I'll have to take update pictures on it, esp. since the crown section is blooming! My 'Tiger Trail' plantlet (sucker cutting "shared" from the plant I sent to MsC) has a bud that's about to open, so I'm excited about seeing that first bloom. 'Silly Girl' is about to burst into bloom, as are a number of my other AVs -- some for the first time since I brought them home!

It looks like 2006 may just be a great year for my AVs! :-)

Denver, CO

Zillions!

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Congrats on the ears :) I'm still waiting on mine.

Deb

Ditto. Impatience hurts.

There's been some growth since those Dec 15th pictures!

These are the 'Cloud Puff' plantlets coming along....

I separated a few more suckers from one of the 'Midget Gumdrop' plantlets.... I have 2 or 3 more plantlets upstairs, so you can see that there will be plenty to go around this spring! :-)

I had to post this picture again on this thread because I'm just so excited about having so many ears come up on these leaves of 'Cambridge Missy'! I have 3 pots like this, with 2 leaves each.... :-)

I decided the plantlets of 'Ramblin Angel' (from the lovely MsC) and 'Champagne Pink' should both have crown cuttings taken... you can see the little suckers forming that will have a chance to grow now with the crown removed.

This leaf of 'Rebel's Rosebud' broke off without a stem, but I potted it up anyway. I often have trouble with leaves rotting when the leaf (rather than just the stem) touches the soil, but this one made it! You can see ears popping up here in front....

Thumbnail by critterologist
Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

and here are ears also popping up behind the leaf!

The 'Rob's Gundaroo' from MsC is doing well, and the two leaves I potted up from it have both popped out ears! Cute!!

Edited because I realized I'd posted a picture a week ago when these ears were really tiny!

Here are the ears I was so excited to see on the 'Rob's Outer Orbit' leaves I bought at the Violet Gallery!

She kindly gave me 4 leaves rather than 2, to be sure the variegated leaves would make it... 1 died, but the other 3 are all showing ears today! Hooray!

I thought this little plantlet was 'Rob's Bunny Hop' but wasn't sure because its label got dropped.... Now it has its first buds, and from the purple color I'm thinking it might be 'Rob's Whiz Bang'!

Here's 'Silly Girl', about to burst into bloom for the first time for me!

The ears on that leaf of 'Smitten Kitten' are getting larger! Bottom right is a plantlet of 'Silly Girl', and you can see one of the 'Rob's Bunny Hop' plantlets near the top.

The sucker from 'Tiger Trail' that MsC "shared" with me (I sent her the plant but took a cutting first) is getting buds! I'm very excited! :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

She "shared" leaves from the 'Yesterday's Valentine' plant I sent too... and look -- ears!!

I don't usually have good luck with tiny leaves, but I've got ears on this leaf from 'Child's Play'!

Critter....I'm amazed at your babies....You may have stated eariler in this thread...but when did you put the leaves down?

Deb...who is patiently waiting for the ears to show :)
