My goodness... a clean slate! Its easy to tell you guys are all Gobbettes! I wonder if this old Gob will be able to keep up! lol I just love reading you guys post...yall are crazy! LMAO! I cant believe some of it.....lol....Butterscotch Schnapps in Hot Coco? I cant wait to take this to work tommorrow. I was sitting around here feeling sorry for myself...got some bad news about my brother....but that thread had me going! and ohh I use to love Little Abner...I grew up with him and Daisy Mae .....and Sadie Hawkins day was so embedded in my mind I created a fund raiser with that theme ... where the women were suppose to bring the men to the dance. also the women had to buy dance tickets ...the man with the most tickets won a prize! it was wild! Men were giving women money to buy tickets ... even if a guy asked you to dance...he demanded his ticket! Everything was on the woman that night...it was even ok to buy a guy a drink and ask him if you could take him home....Did we have a lot to talk about the next day! Some women were BRAZEN HUSSIES! LOL

Nice to see you Sylvia!

We had Sadie Hawkins dances in High School too. Wow were certain guys happy about that, lol.
What's up with your brother?

I like Caramel Liqueur in my cocoa.......

Hi Sylvia ... I'm so glad to see ya joining us over here! You'll just love all these great people. I've made some great friends. So, just come on in ... sit down and take something off the counter when it's offered. I usually have a pot of coffee on as I'm a coffeeholic. W E L C O M E ! :)

Well, guess I will post here since it is already 9:30 pm here on the west coast.
It is very bitter cold for oregon now. It has been in the 30's in the daytime for quite awile now. Brrrrrr! I know it is nothing compared to most of you in the east but for oregon, it is cold!
I came home tonight and did something good. My side of the garage was empty due to my son getting my car a new fuel filter. So I figured I might as well start on those dang dahlia tubers division. So got a few done with the heater going to keep me warm.
I did have a brain storm at work today tho. We have an old house for our office with a garage that we store seed, etc. in. I am going to store the dahlia tubers there this year. It has a good temperature to do that. I should have thought of that years ago. Duh!!!

Nothing too exciting otherwise for me.
Will be going to my son's wrestling meet tomorrow nite and then for the weekend, he is wrestling in a tournament over on the coast which a 3 hr drive. So will be busy with that.

Darius, am glad you are getting everything set up to move finally.

Hugs for Sheila!

Mary, I read a lot but haven't heard of those books. Will have to check out the library for them.

Kooger, since you work doing the relay program, am surprised that your boss doesn't understand bad weather. So you have less people to work. Better than hurt or dead workers.

Welcome, Sylvia.

Morning all - bitter cold here 2 deg outside and don't even know what the real temp is with the wind chill. It was down to 58 deg inside this morning!! I've got the woodstove roaring and it will be toasty in here in a bit.

Dinner with the girls/guys was fun last night. Ate way too much and brought half of it home for DH. Hope he didn't take it cause it sounds good this morning!! And yes, please remind me in Jan that I NEED to diet...)shoot, just checked the frig and the leftovers are gone...

DS/DIL stopped over last night and brought me the carpet shampooer - but neglected to bring the shampoo - oh I could bean DS sometimes...Now I need to get my butt in gear and shampoo the carpets. They have never been done and I know they are really dirty. I may just get a new shampooer for myself after the holidays. Do any of you have one?

Isn't it amazing that all of us suvived those 'drinking' years. I remember stopping on Fridays at the local pub (after teaching...) and having to drive home with one wheel off the road so I could feel the edge of the road. I can't believe I was SOOO dumb...Members of the school board used to meet us there even. Man, that wouldn't happen today!

Well, I need to go wash the hair and get ready for the huff and puff. I really need to work hard as I don't think I'll be going tomorrow - touring an old historic mansion and lunch out, then driving hours up north for a birthday party. I am the designated driver....I don't want to go, but feel responsible, so I will. Could someone send a snow storm this way - then I could stay at home.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning everyone!

Bit warmer today, and it is snowing again.

I'll be back to post after chat.

Come play!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Welcome Sylvie. Did you bring treats like I instructed? LOL There's usually something on the counter to share, but I think we ate up all of Maria's cranberry cake and apple pie...or else Samson got them. I believe almost all of us are GOBs, with a sprinkling of Gobettes. We speak with the wisdom of life experience....oh stop me....even I can't sell that one to the Eskimos......LOL

Each day has a link to the previous day's thread, so if you like you can cruise back through of some of our daily litanies, and get to know us a little. The common interest is gardening, but isn't often the daily topic, and we have a traveling 2 X 4 for use on wayward spouses, children, in-laws (and we have some doozies) or pets. Grab a chair and a cuppa, and enjoy the company.

BIG Plans today. Make raspberry jam. Make Spaghetti sauce for DGS's Christmas present. Color my hair, and hope my highlighting comes out as good as Julie's. Dust. (that one's iffy) Check my list and see if I left anyone out.

Max is settling in at DS's, now he will come out of the upstairs (where Howard can't go) and stare at him, and has slept near the other cats without getting all hissy. Nobody move, though. DIL thought about bringing him back here because of Oskar being gone but we agreed it would just be another upset for him.

I'm elected to bring dessert for Christmas eve dinner....Tiramisu! Now I have to hunt down ladyfingers because I am not going to make them myself. I'm overdue for a visit to one of the Italian food markets, so it shouldn't be a problem.

My stepmom loved tea, and did the whole step by step, too. She had a small collection of teapots and cozies, and she would often make tea after school when I got home. She got me hooked on coffee too. Being a nurse, you know they run on coffee but she made hers strong enough to dissolve the spoon.

Yup, Sylvie, I know about the designated drunk....but I'll bet not everyone does. I love that story! Tell it!!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

I was going to edit, but I thought, what the heck, just do a new post. Yup Sarv, they always grab the GOOD leftovers, don't they? I put them way back in the frig, because DH can't see beyond the first row of any shelf.
I have a Hoover carpet cleaner, one of the best buys I ever made. It has a pretty good size tank for the cleaner solution, too. I had one before that hooked up directly to a faucet, but that was a PITA because you ended up dragging the long hose behind you, (or in my case, tripping over it). And it had a huge tank for the dirty water, which made it hard to move when it got fuller.

They have newer models now, but mine is still chugging along, in spite of five years of heavy duty use (new construction dust, Max's upchucks, and DH's garage crud that he tracks up here, etc.) It's fairly easy to push around, and the tanks are easy to empty and fill. Check Consumer Reports, and do some comparison shopping.

Hi y'all,
Didn't feel good yesterday and had a rough night, but am feeling better this morning.

M5 please please make an extra Tiramisu to put on the counter. I do so love that stuff. Will you Dmail me your recipe? And I, too have a Hoover carpet cleaner. Best money I ever spent. It really does a fantastic job. My girl was going through a stage of upset tummy's, and we just put new carpet down a couple years ago. I thought she was going to ruin it.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning,

Glad Darius found storage nearby.

Also glad that Sylvia found her way over here. Welcome. And I think most of us are GOBs.

Got a REAL day off today (ha!ha!). At least DH is back so I don't have to pick up grandtwins to take them to Kindermusik like I've done the last 4 weeks. I DO enjoy doing it, but it takes 3 hours out of my day if the weather is good and more if it's snowing because the driving is slower.

I'm off in a few minutes to Aquafit. Then downtown to pick up grocery store coupons that we will give out at the Food Cupboard for clients to use towards their turkeys. We bought them through a church that uses the profits for social housing.

Then on to my church to set out the bells and check their adjustment before we go to the Embassy tomorrow.

The newsletter - some 130 or so copies - are all in my entry waiting to be mailed. Hope to do that this afternoon.

gotta get going. TTYL.

Ann

Ann, am saying special prayers for your concert tomorrow night. I know it will be just wonderful! I went to the link you posted yesterday. The music was hauntingly pretty. The DH and I looked at the pictures together. It's very sad. Makes you stop and think. Thanks for sharing.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Morning every one
yup, cake and pie are all gone, Had DD and husband for dinner last night. One of John's favorite dishes is tunafish casserole, salad and cornbread, the pie for dessert, All the left overs went home with them includung the cake..
Just because I live in Yankie land that does not mean I don't make spoon bread, I going to make it in a very old stone pot in the oven, it be nice for brunch later on with lots of butter and maple syrup from Vermont, something New England has to be added, plus the white corn meal is milled near by in RI from that I also make Johnny cakes, now that is true NE, LOL
I don't have one of those carpent cleaners, it is said they should not be used on orientals??? guess I just have to keep on with a regualar vacuum but with Samson they could need a wash.

What made you sick, Elaine, something you ate?

I love teramisu, noticed an ready to bake from a box at the grocery store, has anyone tried it?

Hi Sylvie, what is the matter with your brother?

As far as alcohol goes, I cannot drink more than one of it , I get sick to my stomach , have even passed out when I was quite young from just a glass of wine, the exception is beer, but have not had any of it for over a year now, DH and I would share one can with dinner.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

just hi, Ann, posted at he same time, bet your glad husband is home! I could never do all that driving!

Maria, I just had a headache yesterday. Am sneezing today so might be catching a cold. It's raining here and has been for 2 days now. *shiver* It's 58 degrees, but with the rain it feels much colder! I've never seen that boxed teramisu. Will have to look for it. Is it like a Duncan' Hines cake mix or something? Don't have a clue. LOL

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

I think it is a product from Canada by "Dr. Oetker" I remember that name from the times I grew up in Vienna, my mother used his backing powder, it is still used over there.
You will find it among the Duncan Hines, etc. products but do not forget the lady fingers they are not in the box. I am going to the market now, and will buy one.
Hope you are not catching cold, if you do snuggle up in bed

Thanks, Maria ... you're very kind. :)

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Good AM All,

A little cloudy here today, but the temp is 77 and balmy. OHhhhhhhhh, it feels good.

Looks as if you all have been busy.

Maria, I have to ask.....if the cookies are not in the box of the Tiramisu, it has to be a small box because the only other things that go in it are eggs, mascarpone cheese, heavy cream and coffee. So why a mix for that? I would save looking for the cheese, which is expensive. A curious mind wanted to know. I'm a do-it-yourself-er and probably have OCD and I feel that "I gotta do it myself" or it won't be right. UGH, what a curse.

IO1, don't you dare get a cold just before Christmas. Get yourself some Vitamin C, 500mg and an antihistamine. Take the Vit C. in the am and pm and the antihistamine according to directions. This should be at the very first sniffle for the best effect. But it can't hurt now, anyway...

Hi, Sylvia. We are a loony bunch and happy about it. Hope you like to read because we are a gabby bunch. As you see we have resorted to a daily thread. Now you know why...hehehe

M5, I loved that comment about putting things in the Back of the refrigerator so your husband can't find them. Are they all the same? or does one man just go around the country doing all these nuttsy things to all the women?

DaisyR. Doesn't it just kill you when you figure out something new and change something stupid that you have been doing for years? I just keep amazing myself....how could I have been so dumb......Oy Vey....It's not as bad, however, as when a friend makes the suggestion......then I really hang my head in shame.

Well, it's almost 10am and I haven't read all the threads. Think I should get started or I won't get anything done today....not that it matters, anyway.

Hap

Edited because I can't read right the first time around....

Off to town to pick up meds before the weather gets nasty. Will try to catch up later.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning everyone! Our temperature inched down below 0 last night. Officially it was -4 at the local airport. Local here just means the nearest one, it's 20 miles away so the temperature there is seldom the same here. I haven't ventured outside yet, the sun hasn't been up long enough to warm things much, well, "warm" is only a relative term, as Elaine and Hap will tell us.

The woodstove has a nice fire in it and I think I'll spend a good part of the day near it with my books. I sat up and read until after 10:30 last night, hardly ever do that. Usually my eyes don't stay open very well after about 9. Does that mean I have finally adjusted to standard time?

Elaine, you also need to drink lots and lots of water and juice to flush your system of bugs. Starting when you think you might be getting a cold is not too soon. Every time you go to fill your coffee cup just drink some water. And your almost 60 degree temp sounds very warm to me. Hap said 77 and that would sound warm to you. As I mentioned above, warm is only relative.

Hap, I have been thinking about your poor orchids that were in the swimming pool for a week of chlorine mistreatment. How are they looking now? I hope they make it. Was it you that said you got some big assortment of them really cheap? What medium do you grow them in?

Oh, speaking of cheap, when I was at the Salvation Army thrift store this week I got more books for my hubby, a couple of guy type mystery novels priced at 55 cents each. However, they have special discounts for certain color tags and these were in the 75 percent category, so both books cost me 28 cents. Oh what a big spender I am!

Kooger, I think your boss needs a reality check. I do hope he understands that a witness to an accident is required by law to stay. Doesn't he drive? Show him the driver's manual section about the responsibilities of a driver, or better yet, go to your state laws webpage and print out the section that deals with staying at an accident. I'm glad that lady and her child didn't appear to be hurt. People don't always know if they are hurt or not because of the adrenaline. Let us know what happens with the boss.

Sylvia, welcome. We are an interesting bunch, even have a couple of guys here who have nice yards, build things, and one of them even cooks! Great stuff too, not just heating up a can of soup. They're married tho, just in case you're lookin. A couple of the gals here probably would beat you to them if they were ever available.

I need to find the Christmas card box in the basement, see what I have. Usually I buy cards after Christmas when they are half price, but I think I may have been thinking of writing a Christmas letter. A year is a long time to remember stuff. Heck, sometimes 5 minutes is a long time to remember stuff.

I'd better get moving, the horses need feeding, ice needs to be chopped out of the water hole in the pasture, dog needs warm water, etc. Have a great day everyone, count your blessings and pass it on.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Just got back from the huff and puff and had a good work out. BUT , I saw my hair in the wall size mirrors they have there and I DO look like I have all gray hair now!! LOL Our lights in our house are real dim and I never noticed it . Oh man, do I look OLDDDDD now... Thank goodness we have lots of minerals in our water, so by xmas it will be a goldie color.

I want to go shopping, but don't have a plan, so think I will stay home and get something done, but what I don't know.

I've only had tarimussu once and didn't care for the coffee flavor. Give me a fruit pie anyday! Or an oreo... LOL

I may just get that carpet cleaner going...may that is....

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Hi Everyone!

Darius it's good to hear that you are getting everything well on it's way to being stored and packed, etc. It' must be a really hard on the emotional side to have all this taking place at this time of year (winter) and just before the Holidays. One way to look at it, though, is that it's one heck of Christmas present you're giving yourself...

Hey D.R. Looks like you'd better store *my* Dahlias in that heated space too. We were in the minus zero temps here again last night and it's so cold I just say it's "Cold" and won't even look at the thermometer hanging outside my kitchen window. LOL

Sheila...I really ahd to LOL at the "hiding the GOOD leftovers". I do that sometimes, myself...I also "hide" my favorite coffee cup so DH won't grab it in the morning. Hehehehe I put MY cup on the *bottom* of the stack when I unload the dishwasher...he's to lazy to move the top cup to get at it. (I do the same thing with my favorite Iced Tea glasses...PITA, ain't I? LOL & LOL)

I've spent the last couple of days playing....uh...that's not true. In between *trying* to play with my new musical slideshow software, I've been doing that deep-cleaning routine again. (Geez! A year and a half in the yard and garden sure builds a lot of dirty windows, and dusty chair rungs that have to be dealt with. WHERE does it all come from??)

Elaine, I'm *still* having fun...thanks for thinking about me. I'm imagining that you'll be having the same kind of fun when your software arrives. Trying to get all the 'ins and outs' figured out and applied. It must a little difficult to have to store most of the learning information in your head though...and not have the icons and tool tips in front of you to jog your memory. You, my dear, are a true inspiration...not to mention a wonderful reminder to the rest of us that we need NOT dwell on our problems and/or inconveniences. Life is GREAT when we meet it it head on!

Ann (Viola) I visited that link yesterday...it was probably why I didn't come back and post. It reminded me of the "Big" flood that hit the upper Mississippi River a few years back. All those pics of the house before and after Katrina were heartbreaking. And the story of those people and the months afterward...all I could think of was this was only *one* family out so many. I couldn't handle the thought all at once. Thank you SO much for that link!

Sarv and Kelly...tsk, tsk, tsk...don't you towo know that it's not nice to even mention the "D" word this early in December??? LOL

OH! I nearly forgot, again, to welcome our newest GOB!
HI SYLVIA!! Glad you found us! There's always room for another GOB, especially one with a sense of humor! WELCOME!

To everyone else not mentioned by name...I see you!

This morning I'm feeling like I wish I could give you ALL big *real* hugs...so please accept these ((((((( ~HUGS~ ))))))) instead!

Hope everyone who wasn't feeling the best yesterday is doing better today.

I'm off to clean and play....then to play and clean...and will probably just get the "PLAYING" done! LOL

Have a good one!

(And yes, Gayle..."She SPOKE!!" again. hehehe)

(Zone 8b)

Brrrrr its cold here this morning - it was only 17 when I checked an hour ago - last Saturday it was 85, thats almost a 70 degree drop in the space of 5 days!! My roses are now a total mess. I believe the temp is the lowest its been for almost 100 years in this area. I'm not sure about global warming, I think we have global cooling !!!!!!!!!!!

We used to have Dr. Oetker products in England too Maria, I actually met the man himself once many years ago. Not sure he was the original though could have been a son or a grandson even. We got stranded at a small Airport in Turku, Finland when they had an unexpected 18 ins of snow. The Airline bused us over the mountains back to Helsinki and I was sitting next to him for several (6 plus) very hair raising hours driving. We were talking about anything and everything to keep our minds off the weather. The winds were vicious and every so often the sun roof lifted and chunks of snow blew in on us. I remember him saying that we looked like a mobile packet of his firms frosting!!

I use the things you call ladies fingers making English trifle. They are spread with fruit jam and used to line the bowl, once in place they are soaked with a little sherry or port, for adults, or concentrated fruit juice if its for kids (well thats the theory!!!! i remember grandmas being pretty alcholic for us kids!) Then the are covered in sliced fruit. The fingers and the fruit are set in jelly - Jello to you folk - that is made with the juice from the fruit instead of half the water. Once that is set it is covered in English custard, which is not the same as the yukky stuff they call custard here!!! It is made with milk and .... well I use custard powder, but that is basically a cornflour and vanilla mix to which you add a very little sugar. When the custard is cold you top off with fresh cream and decorate the top with glace cherries and nuts and angelica. I am off to start one now - it will be on the counter later! It is delicious when made properly and very bland when made commercially - a bit like Tiramisu!!

Which reminds me I have been unable to find Angelica over here, It is green, the crystalised stalk of a Herb, and it may well have a different name here. Its used in decorating deserts of various types. Can any of you GOBs help with a source?

Welcome to our new visitors - hope you come back for more!!

M5 I hope you are feeling a little better now. (((hugs)))

darius - Happy dance!!!!! about sorting the storage. Hope all goes well for the rest of the move.

I0I I hope I haven't given you my bug - it isn't nice and it lasts for ages so I hope thats not whats making you feel rough.

Everyone else - haven't forgotten you but I've aleady written a book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

HI Carol...(The ODD one! LOL)

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Well so much for writing my epistle in answer to Mary about my orchids... I hit the wrong button and it went somewhere. so here I go again.

Mary the orchids are not doing well. The ones that took the swim are all but history. I keep saving them in hopes that they will resurrect themselves from the ashes....lol The Rescues I got just before Wilma are somewhere. No one has a label anymore and I even marked the pots so if I lost the label my number would be on the pot. Well, they all got blown out of their pots so there went that plan of action. Even found some broken pots and labels in my front yard. Unbelievable......

I am going to start growing like God does. I feel confident that He knows what He is doing and going to put them on wood/tree with some moss; no plotting medium anymore. I'll keep you posted on this.

Even the ones that did not swim are in sad shape. I learned AFTER Wilma that hurricane winds pick up ocean water and bring it inland. Well, my orchids and other plants don't like salt water; they burn as if they had chemicals on them. If I had known that, I would have sprayed them all down as soon as possible and would have saved some, but, I will know that for next time.

I had about 70 before Wilma and I have not counted since then. I'm afraid to.

Thanks for asking.

Hap

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey again, lol.

I'm heading out the door to the Doc's, nothing serious, just have to have a small infection in my thumb drained. But I had to make a comment....

I make a "Redneck Tiramisu" using Twinkies cut in half. Yummo! As Rachael Ray would say, lol.

Back home, boy has the sky changed for the worse in just 2 hours!

Meds: I got a free 3 month supply of my Spiriva (would be $144 a month), plus 2 other meds. I'm good to go, but these will probably be the last free ones now that the Midicare Prescription Plan goes in effect in January.

I just toasted some rosemary olive oil bread and spread it with organic cream cheese. A few slices are topped with sliced kalamata olives. Help yourself!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Darius, I'm glad about the meds and I think you are right. Oh well.

Now about the bread, etc. I think you should move further south....maybe about Ft. Lauderdale....lol

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, I slept late, and have been busy this morning. We are getting sleet and freezing rain, with snow predicted for later this afternoon. So I went to DM and did some chores for her, and then back here to mine. I am cutting off DH jeans and hemming them. I don't know if he is wearing them below his expanding waistline, but everything is getting longer. Then am working on a throw for DGD. Not going to even try to comment on everyone's post. But have read it all, and some put me to shame with what you are doing or have planned. Well, back to the sewing, will check in later. Big hello from chilly Kentucky.

Ooooh, darius that *does* sound good. I've got a recipe you need to try if you like that sort of thing.

Carol ... you make me laugh every time you sign your name ... the odd one! LOL

Sarv I'm still wondering what you had for breakfast. Maybe I missed that post? Always get a good laugh out of that. LOL

MG, you sure sound busy today. Hope it's not serious with your thumb. Good to see you. Think I've missed speaking to you lately.

Julie, you're sweet to say those things, but my speech program is "windows friendly" so I have the same minues you do ... just have to zoom up there and take a peak. LOL Now I've spoiled my image! :)

M5, special hugs and a warm hello for you.

Mary, you live in a winter wander land. All that talk about chopping ice, wood stoves and horses brings a very rustic life to mind. I *really* love reading your posts.

Sylvia, know you work, but check in and say hi when you can.

Hap, so sorry to hear about all your orcads. It sounds like you have a very good plan in mind for this next growing season, though. Keep us posted.

Okay, my post is getting waaay too long, so I'll stop with this last thing. I've upped my vitamin C. Take it every day but will pump a little extra in. I'm not real good with the water, though, but will try harder.
Okay, hi to those I've missed ... the English Carol , Kelly, okus
and the rest. Thanks for all the well wishes. Y'all have a good day and don't work too hard. :)

Elaine, what recipe? I LOVE stuff like what I posted above.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Happy,
just came back home the market, I bought one of the tiramisu mix and the lady fingers , one has to add coffee, Ameretto or cognac and milk. I hardly ever buy mixes, everthing I bake is from scratch but that interested me, perehaps it did because of the 'Dr. Oetker' name. when I make it, I'll take a picture of it. There is also otheres he makes such as 'Lava' they are chocolate cup cakes with chocolate very soft filling, hence 'lava'

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Maria,
Then from what I understand, the mix is the marscapone cheese and eggs. Yes?

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Gals you should have watched Martha this morning -guess what she was making- terrimussu (spx) - man did it look yummy!!!

I01= I had a decent breakfast (for me) a container of yogurt and a granola bar. But when I got home from the huff and puff, Geek forced me into making hot cocoa with butterscotch schnapps!! Can you imagine me having one before lunch LOL I am limiting myself to one per day tho...

I have major plans tomorrow and wouldn't you know they just announced weather warnings. Drat....they have bedn calling wolf around here so long, that no one believes them anymore. But when I have plans, their forecast usually comes true!!

Was it Kooger that had the scroogie boss?? Sounds like they are more interested in the almighty dollar than in helping folks. I hate that kind of behavior. At DH last job they gave points out for all kinds of infactions. It was pitiful - after x amount of pts you were put on unpaid leave. In the ditch because of a snowy morning- too bad. I remember one gal had a terrible tooth ache- but came to work. The dentist returned her call at work and said to come in and they would do a root canal - shop said, if you go we give you three points and you lose wages. Can you imagine!! And she was a sister in law to the boss. She quit in a huff...

Darius - good news about the free meds. Why do you think there won't be more when the new medicare stuff takes effect?

Hap- that's the pits about your ochids. That's one thing I have never tried to grow.

Julie- for heavens sakes STOP all that cleaning- making me feel guilty. I did vacuum this morning - in fact it's still sitting out!! I feel like a slug today.

Hid the butterscotch schnapps in an upstairs garden room - DH never goes in there and it is freezing cold there. LOL

Well, I guess I'm stretching it just a bit, Darius, but it does have the olives ... and *garlic*. And you *know* how you love garlic. LOL You also love capers. See, I pay attention to your posts. Anyway, here's the recipe. It's very good to us, at least.

Sounds yummmy, Elaine. I bet I'd like it with kalamata olives too but don't think I'd do kalamata olives AND capers, LOL. I'd need a gallon of water.

How true. Also I like it roughly chopped ... not in the food processor. More like ah heck you know what I mean. LOL I'm having a senior moment! :)

Sarv, I'm proud of you for eating such a healthy breakfast. I had oatmeal. Hmmm, snapps before lunch? LOL

....about my brother...two years ago he was diagnoised with liver cancer and the surgeon said they got it all. ...its back, something with the white cells...and they cant do a port or conventional chemo ... or something. My brother called me last night and we were just laffing and talking. I asked him to let me talk to connie his wife and she was the one to tell me all this. I was in schock ....barely hearing what she was saying ... he never told me anything. I guess he didnt want me to know at this time...with the holidays and my trip to Europe ...he knew it would be a bummer. I prayed all night asking God to tell me what am I to do at this point.I got to go on with my life I guess. My brother is 62 and only been married 3 or 4 years. I just Thank God he has a very good wife. I pray for her too.

Yikes, that is scarey about your brother. At least he has a good wife to be with him. Doesn't it seem like life goes from one thing to another = but never stopping!! Guess that is life tho!! I'll be thinking about you and hope for the best for you brother.
