Coffee and...For Dec.06, 2005
don't forget, still have most of that cake
Yummy, thanks Maria, I took a piece to have after while. Just got DH out the door and soon it will be time to get DS going then some peace and quiet.
Must make one comment GRUB farm! No thanks even for our sweet bluebirds! When a little girl we would have to go to the saw mills and dig for grubs for my dad to use trout fishing, ugh, ugh, ugh. But then we have thrown dead and alive cluster flies out the upstairs windows and have the bluies come and catch them in the air. LOL
Have a great day all around, I do read all your posts but by the time I get to the bottom I have forgotten what to say or it seems to late to say anything. We are looking at some lake effect snow today but more to come tomorrow and of course we wanted to go to the Rochester area for some shopping. Will just have to wait to see what the weatherman says.
I see some flakes and I am not looking in the mirror! May just stay home today.
-Joy
Good Morning - just finished off a piece of last nights meat loaf, followed by two cookies, and Maria, if you will pass the cake, I'll have a piece of that too = thank you!
Where's has Babs been? I have a question. I am an itching fool this morning- itchy eyes, ears, neck etc. I went off my allergy meds because I didn't feel like they were helping me any - I was hacking and coughing even with them. Now the hacking and coughing is still there plus all the itches. What is happening???
Darius - don't you have carry out pizza??
Our local weather forecasters are so wrong most of the time. They have warned for two days of snow coming - snow warnings etc. Narry a flake..how can they be so wrong all the time. It gets so that no one listens to them anymore.
Hair cut after the huff and puff. Then I may come home and add some streaks to it.
Not much else newsworthy in this neck of the woods - have a safe day all
Good morning! They snow we were supposed to get overnight turned out to be only a dusting. Still enough to keep DH out all night for the roads. It was sooooo nice having the bed all to myself (except for the dog and one of the cats)
Lunch yesterday was wonderful. I had grilled salmon with a red pepper sauce that was to die for. Desert was a marble cake with a chocolate orange filling. Yummi!
M5- know that you have many arms around your shoulders as you go through this. We are here for you to lean on anytime. ((((hugs))))
Maria - glad to see you again. I was also wondering where you were. Thought maybe sampson was keeping you too busy to come see us! LOL He is such a cutie! Cranberry cake looks really good!
Started with a cold last night and was in bed by 8. Didn't even look at the computer last night. Took a while to read through everything this morning. Need to get a little work done here before I head out. Will try to check in before I leave.
Hi Gang....I'm Home.....
Had a wonderful time with DD and her party was fantastic...Only 55 came, not the expected 82...where'd they go and why didn't they call? Rude!!!
Won't read the last 5 days, so just Good Morning to all and will catch up from now. Hope all has been blessed and well for you all.
Hap
It is snowing but not hare, wonder where the storm is they kept predicting? Seems most of it came down on the Cape. Just as well as far as I am concernened.
Wonder what happened to you too, Sarv something you ate in combination with some food you had, that happens to me some times when I have strawberries.
Have been throwing balls for Samson, but it is cold 28" he could not care less, just loves to be out of doors, that is if I am out there too, LOL
Guess I shall have some coffee now
Hi all,
Just checking in before the DH leaves. Please keep him in your prayers this morning as he's going to the eye doc for a checkup. Some small changes, so can't help but be concerned.
It's cold here today ... 41.7. They're saying it will be in the 20's in a night or so. I'm with y'all though. I won't carry it to the bank until it happens. ;)
Well, I'm going to go put in a ham so it will be done when he gets home. Will check on everyone later.
... Elaine
Where in the world is everyone? I came back in here expecting to find that y'all had been chatting away and I'm the one that posted last. Hmmm. What's up with everyone today?
Sarv, I don't see how in the world you *eat* that* that stuff for breakfast. LOL I can hardly managed to choke something down in the mornings. The only reason I do is because I know I should. ;)
Maria, it really sounds like you and Samson are having a ball together ... no pun intended on words. :)
Defoe, I've been meaning to comment on all that delicious meat you've been putting up. Will you please serve some of that country ham for breakfast tomorrow? I grew up on it. Some ham biscuits would be nice with my coffee. The grandparents lived on a farm and we had all the ham and beef we needed along with vegetables. Lot of hard work, but worth it.
Oh, the DH just called. He's on his way home. They did what they called swiped his left lense with the lasor as it was very cloudy. He will go back in a week. I'll go for now. Hugs all way round.
... Elaine
P.S.
Hi Hap, so good to see you're home and had a good time. To those I've missed ... forgive me. Will catch up later.
Sarv.....D-mail for you! ~Babs~
GM everyone!!! I'm off to the races once again. I'm sorry I haven't been 'round lately. My Mum is quite ill and requires much care so I've been tied up taking care of her lately. I've been down with a cold too, but am getting over it. Hubby made it home from Germany just fine but he's suffering with a whopping good cold now too. Poor man :-(
I hope to catch up with everything a little later. Enjoy your day....~Babs~
Morning All,
Just a quick Hi.

Kelly
Sarv said
Darius - don't you have carry out pizza??
LOL, the nearest pizza joint (or Chinese) is about 40 miles! Doubt I could afford the mileage.
Maria, Samson looks great and so does that cranberry cake.
Hi All,
They were predicting ice storms here overnight and today, but its actually warmer and sunnier this morning than it was yesterday!
That weight has removed itself from my chest and I feel a little chirpier this morning, but I have still got no voice and am coughing and sneezing well. DH is enjoying the no voice stuff - I can't shout at him!!!!!!!!!!LOL
Breakfast - how do people eat tons of anything first thing? It takes me all my time to eat a banana or a bowl of porridge, and thats if I leave it a couple of hours after i get out of bed. Never been any different - I used to take a raisin sandwich from home and eat it after I got to school, and that would be a good 2 hours after I got up.
I'll come back for a slice of that cake about 11 if thats OK Maria, it looks good. I would have had some last night but I can't face food late in the evening either. There is cold roast pork and salad for lunch if any one would like to share?
I finally got the Christmas parcels off to the UK yesterday, isn't postage expensive and odd!! It was cheaper to send the small parcel as an Air Letter than a parcel $14 as a letter and $38 as a parcel, and the letter is faster by 7 days!!!!! I thought I was mishearing and the guy was saying $40 for the letter, he had to repeat 5 times before I got it - he must have thought I was nuts!!
Hope the packing goes OK for the rest of the week Darius. I guess you just want it done and over with now. Once you have your personal stuff in boxes it stops feeling like home and feels like camping out doesn't it.
((((((M5 and Oskar)))))))) There isn't anything else I can say but I'm there for you.
I0I Hope you DH is OK, it must be very worrying, it would be anyway but particularly for you two as you both use his eyes.
To everyone else I've missed I hope the day is everything you want and nothing you don't.
Carol
The Odd one
I am like you about breakfast, Okus, perhaps the reason for that is I ws broght up just having a glass of milk ans a slice of bread about 10 AM I had what one calls here lunch in at chool my mother packed,
High noon we were sent home for a regular 'meat and potato' dinner Cookies or cake between 4 and 6 PM till supper that was very, very light such as a salad , cheese, fruit, with toasted bread . Of course, we had none of that during the war, to this day I can not eat too much or my stomach will revolt,
Heart to Heart............((((M5))))
Elaine, the photo I posted for M5 is a wonderful and colorful bridge leading up to a rainbow in the clouds.
{{{{{{{{{{Sheila}}}}}}}}}}
Those are the loneliest footprints in the snow. I'm so sorry Sheila, my heart hurts with yours.
Gayle
Good morning. Sorta gray here today, overcast, 12 degrees at daylight, no new snow, no wind, no sun. That's it in a rather big nutshell.
M5, you did the right thing for him. These decisions are never easy. I'm crying with you here remembering the animals I have buried and the ones I couldn't. Lavish some extra love on your other kitties.
Babs, good to hear from you again. Sorry to hear of the colds you and your DH have and that your mom is not doing well. She is blessed to have you as a daughter living so close and being able to take care of her.
Okus, I hope you feel better soon. LOL at your husband enjoying your lack of voice, they all seem to do that and get great amusement from our frustration and silence. The postage thing makes no sense but I'm glad you got the cheaper and faster option.
Elaine, I can understand that you would be doubly concerned about your husband's eyes. I hope this proceedure solved the problem. I have a friend whose husband lost most of his sight, she sees for him and he hears for her because she is almost deaf. That works pretty well for them.
My horse with the sore foot looks like he feels pretty good in general. He still stands with that foot out in front of him not wanting to keep weight on it all the time, but yesterday he walked pretty well on it and didn't lay down as much as the day before. The day before his heart rate and respiration were a bit elevated over normal, that is when I thought he might need some penacillin, but my bottle of it expired 2 years ago so I chose to throw it out instead of giving him a shot of it. By the next day (yesterday) he was looking much better overall and so doesn't need it. When I buy a new bottle it will be the long acting kind.
Today is my going to town, shop, run errands day. Hubby and I will have lunch together. Our son called last night and has made an offer on a house in town so I'll drive by it and have a look. He and his wife are renting a very small house now, and it will make more sense to be building equity. It's a 4 bedroom older house and I think the first thing he will do is add insulation so they can afford to heat the place. He is a carpenter and won't have to hire anything done except electrical and maybe plumbing. Having connections with all the tradespeople in town gives him inside information on who is good, and I'm sure he would work out a deal with somebody to build them a deck or something in trade.
The microwave was misbehaving again. I tried yesterday's remedy on it and that didn't work, fooled with it awhile and finally did get it to register 2 seconds, then it would only accept another 2 but then no more. But it worked for a whole 22 seconds. Same thing the next time. After that it works fine and I didn't do anything else to it. Mysterious machine. We have our old one in the basement, Hubby said he would bring it upstairs tonight. The reason we have this "new" one is that one of our sons loves electronic gizmos and he thought I needed one with all the bells and whistles instead of a rather basic one. So, we put the old one in the basement storage room and used the new one. I never used the auto defrost, the popcorn maker, the feature that lets a person enter the weight of the product and automatically heats it for the proper time, the memory, etc., so I think going back to the old simpler one will be nice. Plus, it is smaller and will give me a few more inches of counter space.
I'd better get dressed and feed the horses, take warm water out for the dog, chop ice and dig out the spring again and get ready to go to town.
Awwww M5- glad it is over for Oskar and you too. Think of what fun Oskar and Hobbes are having... So hard to see them leave us, but better to have it over than suffering for days on end. Hugs to you......
I tell ya, I just love food - get up and eat breakfast right away...mostly things that most people wouldn't touch as breakfast- but hey - food is food and right now I am in my 'bad' eating mode, but I see some light at the end of the tunnel!! Went to the huff and puff, got hair cut (way too short....) and stopped for a double cheeseburger at McD's!! I felt sorry for Darius as she doesn't have a McD close to her, so I had the extra pattie in her honor!!
Got home and there was a message from my DM that they spent the night in the Emer. room with DD - heart problems. My cell phone is dead and as soon as it is charged, I am going to call and see what's up. She says she wishes she was home instead of down in FLa. Yikes, hate this kind of problem from so far away...
Mary, I have a zillion buttons on my micro too - I never use them....give me an on and off - good enough!! I do use the defrost thing often tho.
Still freezing up here - need to get off these workout duds and get on some old rags for the hair streaking stuff. Wish me luck!!
M5,
I agree with Gayle, those are the lonliest footprints in the snow. I am sitting here with tears. My heart goes out to you. I'll be thinking of you and saying a prayer.
(((((((M5)))))))
Kelly
So Sorry M5 ((((hugs))))
M5- So So sorry. ((((hugs))))
Meezer, I have been away for several days so I don't know what really happened, but I can put it together enough...I wish I could say something for you right now, but I can't talk or even put words down for the pain that I know you feel. First time I have ever cried over something on the net. May the kitty angels watch over you.
Hap
Sheila...my heart aches for you. And the tears are stinging in my eyes as I type this. Your picture of the footsteps was just about all I could handle. I know the feeling all too well. ((((( ~sheila~)))))
Now if I get the tears to stop so I can see the screen...blink...blink... it's not working.
Ok...now I can see as long as I don't *think*.
Wait...one more wipe.
Hello to everyone!
Gayle...I think it was you who wrote some funny remark yesterday about "Julie speaking". LOL I guess I did!
I'm reading everyone's posts, but not responding in the written reply depart. That's not to say that I'm not "into" everything posted, just that I don't have time right now to spend an hour or so writing it all down. hehehe
Yesterday I spent a lot of the day downloading several albums of *very* nice relaxing music. Have any of you ever heard "Secret Garden"? That's the name of the artists not the song. :-) They are listed as "New Age"...but I dislike that 'label' intensely. For me it conjures up an image of some kind of far out fringe religion or something. But I find a lot of the music speaks to me in ways no country or pop music can.
Anyway...back to what I was going to say. I have no idea how I even came across this particular 'group' (Two people) but when I heard a couple of samples of their music I was totally hooked. It wasn't until I got a chance to hear entire selections during download that I realized this "New Age" group had a decidedly Christian undertone to their work. What a great combination, positively gorgegous instrumentals with a slight Celtic 'note' plus the inspiration of a few very well placed reminders of my faith. Something I really needed right now. (Sometimes it's easy to forget that, even tho we feel very alone in the world, we have someone who *never* leaves our side. We have only to acknowledge Him.) (Mary...Footsteps comes immediately to mind)
SOoooo...I've gotten back into my music, I'm cleaning, sorting, arranging CD's, writing new ones from MP3 files...and now I'm just about to go try a new piece of software that makes DVDs from your own photos and music files. (I'm going to *LOVE* this!! Being able to play music I love and see photos of beautiful things. Just the way *I* want them.)
If you don't see me for a while, don't worry. :-D I'm producing my *novel*! LOL
See y'all later!
~julie~
P.S. When I'm finished I'll send you a copy out and you guys can circulate it among yourselves. LMAO!
I'm baaaaack!!! I ran into town, picked my DH up at the dealership and ran him back out to the base. Hopefully the dealership will have his windshield fixed by this afternoon.
I'm so proud of myself. I ordered new parts for my Rainbow vacuum cleaner and they came in the mail y'day while I was at work. I put the new parts in this morning, vacuumed my whole house and have it running now to clean the air. I love the way the house smells after I run the vacuum as an air cleaner. I have filters in my house as I have allergies and it helps to keep the dust down as well as filters the air, but there is just something almost magical about the air when I run the Rainbow. Negative ions I'm sure :-)
I have to pay bills today. How I hate paying bills. I love seeing the pay cheques come in but I detest how quickly they go right back out again :-( How does that happen anyway? I thought I was supposed to be able to keep my pay....LOL. Who says utilities and other amenities of life shouldn't be free?!? Hmmm???? Oh, fiddle faddle.
It's cold and overcast today, spitting rain now and then. I need to think about what I'm going to make for supper tonight, but I'd rather play here with you all :-) *teeheehee*
I hope everyone has a nice day.
M5, my heart goes out to you. I know you are suffering the pain of your loss, but try to take comfort that Oskar is no longer suffering and that you have many friends who reach out to you virtually today to help you through this sorrowful time. One day your painful feelings will turn into sweet memories of your precious pal. I will pray that day comes swiftly and your loneliness for Oskar wanes with the end of the day. *hugs* to you dear.
~Babs~
Just wanted to stop by and thank y'all for your concern over the DH. He had the left eye done, and the doc said everything was okay. He's not driving today, so a friend came and got him and took him to work. He has a meeting he couldn't miss. Anyway, I'm just relieved. He'll go back next week to be sure everything's okay. His right eye is doing fine for now.
Mary, so glad your horse is doing better today.
Julie, all that sure sounds like fun. I know nothing about downloading music. Wish you were closer and you could teach me how to do all that stuff. I'll have to check into that group. Please do remember us when you get everything all together. It sounds wonderful. ;)
Babs, so sorry to hear your Mom isn't doing well and you and your DH have had rotten colds. Hope all of you will soon be on the mend.
Sarv, you tickle me with the "huff and puff". I've never heard that one before ... but love it. LOL
M5, to repeat what everyone else has said ... soon you will have many wonderful memories to bring you pleasure instead of pain. When I put my DLD (darling leader dog) hehehe to sleep ... on the morning he was suppose to go ... I brushed him real good as he just loved to be brushed. Later about a month the DH came up to me and said ... "I don't want to upset you, but I know you can't look at pictures of Caleb, so the day he left I took his hair out of the trashcan and placed it in this zip lock bag. When you start really missing him ... just slip your hand in and you'll have something to bring you comfort." Well now folks ... I thought that was just about the *sweetest* thing I've ever heard. I still have that zip lock bag with Caleb's hair, and sometimes I still look at it. So, M5, your pictures and memories will bring you pleasure ... not all this pain one day.
Many gentle hugs to you ... Elaine
Just finding time to read, not write, but have to express my sympathies to Sheila. I'm also sitting here with tears running down my face. Many hugs. We all know that it was the right thing to do, but it doesn't make it much easier. Treasured pets will always be missed. Just know that we all are sharing your pain at this moment.
Ann
Just popped in to say hi and it started the waterworks all over Again.
Julie, Awesome thought The Footprints,,,,How True, How True.
Elaine,
What a beautiful thing for your DH to do,,,,how very touching,,(no pun intended)
Gotta go,,,can't see any more,,,have to get some dry eyes before next customer comes in
Kelly
Well, I have had a busy day again today. It has taken me about 45 minutes to catch up. I have tears in my eyes, reading about Oskar. M5, (((()))) to you. We have all been in your shoes, the only difference for me, I went through it alone. You have all your cyber friends to share your grief with. I will be thinking about you and praying on a daily basis, that the grief will soon turn to fond memories of a beloved pet.
101 I wish I could share some ham biscuits, but it will take at least 3-4 months for the hams to cure. We will probably have one about Easter. So put it on your calendars, Easter is ham and biscuits for breakfast.
Babs, welcome back. Hope all the illness gets cured.
Welcome back Happy. That was really rude of the invited to not even call to say they couldn't come.
Read the news about the equipment being ordered for 101. Thanks GG, for doing that.
Mary Glad the horse is doing better.
And the comments on the weather. Predicting, and then turning out something different. I think I can do as good a job as the meteorogilist ?? Just look out the window!! They predicted snow today, got about 5 flakes.
Julie, wish you were closer to me to help eradicate my computer illiteracy!!.
Sarv, hope your family in Florida, is through the crisis in ER. Tell them all hi from us, and to send us some sunshine.
Darius, take out places are scarce here to. Just don't pick up the phone and order.
Well DH just came in for supper. We are having fish, hush puppies and cole slaw. So have to get moving. The grease is hot, so won't take a jiffy to do it.
Will be back later, to tell you what else I did today.
Okay, I've had enough waterworks for one day. (((((M5)))))
Saw my doctor and got a B12 shot today then Bob and I got all the boxes of books moved to my old storage unit this afternoon.
While I was out I got a cell phone message from the local company that's renting me the U-Haul and a storage unit that there is a "glitch". Called them back and the lady is out for the rest of the day and no one else knew anything. RATS.
Darius...why is everything uphill at times?
To test us, LOL.
Everything is uphill at times to remind us how nice it is to go downhill later. It's kind of like Sisyphus, he never got a break, at least we get one sometimes. LOL
Well I'm about as normal as I can get today, there's relief along with the sadness, that he's not suffering anymore. DH cried buckets. Oskar always sat on his lap in the evening whether he was on the computer in the den or watching tv with me. He truly was the sweetest cat I ever owned. Never a hiss or a spit! So smart, when he wanted something he would tap you on the leg and then walk you to his food or water dish. Came when I whistled for him. Accepted all our new additions as if they had always been here. We will miss him forever.
Too late for any of that cranberry cake? It looked wonderful.
And, it got cold down south! IO1, do you need some long johns? It's bitter cold here, about 14* today.
Sarv, did you know Kohl's is having a half price sale tomorrow? Got a flier in the mail. Probably not half on everything, but worth checking out. I almost pitched our coffee maker off the deck this morning. I'm giving it one last chance tomorrow. No coffee, POW!
DH just came out and said both the "girls" were sleeping together in the basket under the heat vent in the bathroom. I'm shocked. Souky has not curled up with any of them since we got her. She'll sleep near, not touching, but as soon as a paw touches her, she's gone. Mini has been giving me chin bumps all day. Maybe they figured out that cats are disappearing and they are teaming up for protection.
Darius, I do my own B12 shot, once a month. Figured it's cheaper to buy it and do it myself, rather than make a trip to the doctor and pay 20% of the bill. Since it goes right into muscle it's quick and easy. For some peculiar reason my insurance won't pay for the prescription, which costs about $12, plus needles, but they will pay $70 a year plus paperwork and postage if it's done in the office. Or, they could pay for another Schilling test and 2 office visits which would cost them well over $200. Some little clerk told me they **didn't think it was necessary**. Darius, a glitch at this point in your moving process must be infuriating. She couldn't just tell you what it was...that would be too sensible. A pox on her. I guess this just confirms that the inmates are running the asylum.
IO1, your DH is definitely a keeper. Glad his eye exam came out all right.
MaryE, I only use the defrost and the quick on button on my microwave. I read the booklet, and it's got such illogical programming it's not worth the effort to figure it out. I don't cook in it anyway, so I don't much care. Check the fuses, sometimes they are failing and will operate intermittently. No, let DH do it. He'll know how to find them. Or it.
Got to clean up the kitchen. Hello to everyone I haven't mentioned, and thanks again for being there for me, it really helped me. I wish I could hug every one of you.
(((((((((((((((((((((((GOBS and Gobettes)))))))))))))))))))
simply (((( M5))))))
LOts of them you have a wonderful outlook on everything!!!
