Good Morning - just got up and downed two peanut butter cookies before my rear even got in the computer chair! LOL Now you know why I don't bake more often...

We had a ton of snow last night too - very pretty to look at, but wouldn't want to drive in it!! MG- congrads on the bowling adventure AND for driving home in the yucky weather!! I always insist on driving when the roads are slippery as DH is used to his tank of a truck and just doesn't understand how to handle my car. I am a nervous wreck with him behind the wheel.

I've never been to Hooters - do they wear something to cover up the 'hoots'? DGS went once when he was 2 yrs old and came home with a shirt - that's about as much as I know about it!!

Darius - good luck on the remaining stuff to pack to move. I probably SHOULD move, just to clean our things. My middle name is pack rat.

Defoe, when I read about how far you have to drive to the malls - I just am amazed. We live a scant 5 miles from a new center and 10 miles to a really big one. I pick up and dash there several times a week. We are in the fringes of the country, with suburbia moving in. New x-way just over the hill, so it will be building up around here quickly. As long as I can't see it, I don't mind.

DGS spent the night - he is such a sweetie. We played games and then he and DH watched big time wrestling - he is another fan. I thought he would enjoy the xmas cartoons on, but it was a no go!! Getting older I guess!

Well, need to finish a couple of chapters of a book before the herd gets up and wants breakfast!!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Just a quick good morning. I've been reading everyone's news, but haven't had time to respond and today doesn't look much better. Hope you all have a good day.

Ann

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Good Morning! No one home but me. Woke up with about 2 in. of snow. DH got called in to work around 2:30-3:00 a.m. He was supposed to go to Baltimore today with his buddies to a towing show but will probably not be goint at all now. Poor guy, plans like that rarely work our for him. Right now I think it's freezing rain, so in about an hour friend and i will decide if we should take the hour long drive to the big craft show. We'll probably try it. We both need a day away from house and family. LOL

I've only been to Hooters once and wasn't impressed. They are supposed to be noted for chicken wings aren't they? Mine were so greasy they made me sick and I didn't even eat that many.

Well should get in the shower and check the weather channel again so I can make plans.

See ya later!

Good morning!
Ug, MG ... that drive sounds horrible, and so does your weather. I'd much prefer the snow in the pretty pics like Mary's rather than actually having to "live" in it. It does make a pretty picture. LOL
Julie, I too have that Neil Diamond Christmas CD. Well, at least I guess it's the same. Is yours a 2 CD set?
Kelly, I missed speaking to you yesterday but saw your post after I had gone to bed. Hope things are good for you today.
M5, am still thinking about you and holding out hands of comfort across the miles.
To both Ann's (need to check your spellings) hi. I believe I saw posts from you both, also but am not completely sure what all has been going on with you. You two stay so busy ... just can't keep up.
Sarv, glad you had fun with your DGS. Know what you mean about them growing up. We had the nieces over last night, and they are 12 and 14 going on 21. :)
To everyone else, I'll have to try and catch up with you later. It's after 8:00 and I need to get up from here. Everyone have a blessed day.
Hugs ... Elaine

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning All. Slept pretty well last night, but up early. Our predicted sleet/freezing rain, turning to snow did not materialize. Just the rain. There is probably some icy spots due to the rain, but all in all not too bad of a morning. It is about time for me to start getting ready to go to church, so I will check in when I get home. Everybody stay warm.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Hi everyone
It's snowing here and I'm like a little kid at Christmas! no matter that i know i'll be sick of it in a few months, it still just seems like a gift...I love to watch it, and the birds flocking to the feeder right outside, and just inside all the windows is the woodstove with a nice cozy fire.

mg ~ I love reading your posts, esp. the angel hair hiding the horns!! Jenna is just precious. Your trip home sounds very stressful. I don't much like driving in snow at night (unless i'm driving a sleigh in a field!!)

meezer ~ more prayers for you and Oskar.

sarv ~ I had two nice big chewy oatmeal choc. chip walnut cookies with my coffee. Last night I decided I'm GOiNG to lose weight (I guess I just haven't figured out HOW) Anyway, there are plenty of cookies there PLEASE come take them before I start on "lunch"

suzieq~yay on the snow, cancel the freezing rain!!

Safe driving to all. Time for church. We have nice dry snow (one benefit of the cold north country) and are only 1 1/2 miles from town & church...AND we have snow tires. Stay safe everyone!!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Good Morning All. Slept late after being up from 4 am to 5:30 am with a nasty thunderstorm. Awakened me enough to panic that my computer needed unpluging and then I was almost back to sleep when I realized the volume of rain coming down and all the boxes now stacked in the room that flooded from heavy rain just before Thanksgiving!

So, spent an hour moving boxes and then was too wired to sleep easily. We are supposed to get more rain today, and then rain and snow tomorrow and snow tomorrow night. Sure hope all this bad weather abates before my Movers come a week from tomorrow!

I'll be back later...

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Geez, Darius, too bad you can't get those boxes you have already packed on the truck and moved out now. That rain sounds nasty. Good wishes to you to get all that stuff done ok!

Meant to comment on things from yesterday last nite but got sidetracked. My son was sending me pictures of the promise (note I said promise, not engagement yet) ring and was asking me which one. Geez, I am not ready for all this stuff yet. I am not that old yet, LOL!
He had found a ring that cost $600 and end up getting it for $168 because of discounts and he won a contest by going back hour and hour for the drawing. So he was pretty proud of himself. I just don't agree on this promise ring stuff. Just do the real thing later when possible, but kids are kids.... tho he is 22 years old so.....

Anyways,
Sheila, am still sending good thoughts your way for Oskar. I absolutely love those pictures of your beautiful puddy cats. I am really sorry for what you are going thru. I totally know and understand. I lost my sweet Peter a couple years ago to diabetics after him being 17 years old. It is so hard to watch them wither away. Just give a great big hug to that beautiful cat for me, please.

Sue, I know, I know, I know, am saving tons of tubers for you and Julie!!!! Just hold your horses! LOL

Dcat, I will be glad to save some dahlia tubers for you. Will put you on my spreadsheet list right now.

Other Carol- I just love seeing the pictures of your roses! I makes me miss all the flowers already. Have a smell on them for me please.

MG, what a nasty drive. I have driven in snow and fog and I hated it!!! Years ago I had to drive 3 hrs while going back to college in a total whiteout with snow and fog and it was the most horrible trip I have ever driven in to this day. My hands had to be taken off one finger at a time because they were glued to the steering wheel literaly.
Am glad you got home safely tho. Jenna is such a cutie pie looker.

My day consist of making some almond roca and peanut brittle. It is a nice foggy cold day so the candy should turn out good due to not having much humidity. Have a chunk of candy for your lunch today. I love to make candy. I have a marble candy slab so it helps with my candy making a lot.

Plus whenever it warms up today, I think I will try to head outside finally and get some yard work done. Oh, I know, you guys with snow would love to go outside and work in the dirt with me. I will think of you guys with that white stuff while digging and getting the last of my daff. bulbs in the ground.
Later, Carol

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Morning...sort of. Oskar is still with us, but not eating much. He'll only take a small bite of food, or a sip of water. Mini is staying close to him, and he's staying near the heat vents, so he probably gets cold easily. Keeping him warm and watching ....

We were supposed to go to my DD's last evening for a late turkey dinner (both her boys were not able to be there for Thanksgiving) but we left home and the snow and roads were so bad, we turned around and came home. I was disappointed because I wanted to see my GGS, but it was too nasty to drive the 40 miles to their house.

Elaine,

I'm the Ann (without an e) - the musician in Canada.
The other Anne HAS an e, I think. Maybe for your benefit we should sign that way. Can your computer tell the difference when it reads to you otherwise?

Ann (without the e)

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

DGS just left- whew he was a handful this time. Real unsettled.. we played a ton of games, played on the computer then he was a turkey when his mom came to pick him up. He needs a new coat and refused to go shopping - told her to just go and pick one out!! I thought they were going to come to blows!! They left driving towards town, but I hope he knows enough to keep his lip buttoned!!

I am burned!! I shopped all over town for some Magnetix and finally got a set at toys r us for 39.99. Today I found the same set (in their ad) at Target for 27.99. Sheesh - that is a huge difference. I am trying to decided whether I want to do all the running around trading stuff.

Darius - you probably are collapsed on the couch after your night up!! Hope nothing got zapped or wet!

M5- hope Oskar passes peacefully and quickly. Our cat got so she didn't even want to be petted she was in so much pain. So sad and so hard for everyone...

dr- LOL I am so worried that you will give the tubers all away!! Ok, I won't bug you about it anymore = I promise.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Ok, just finished both candies.
Here is a picture of my almond roca.
Have a piece. It turned out pretty good. Very crunchy due to the nice weather outside.

Have a chunk.

Sue, I will try to take a picture of all the tubers and you will see that you have absolutely nothing to worry about, LOL LOL LOL.
But do keep reminding me at times. My brain is old now as you know, hehe.
Carol (DR)

Back... just finished what passed for lunch (linguini with butter and parsley) and I'm taking a break before starting back to packing up the remainder of the walk in pantry. (or at least what I will do today.) I'm down to the difficult sizes of bottles, tall dry spaghetti jars, and the tall specialty vinegar jars... and of course all the other oddball stuff that's not an easy fit in the boxes I have.

I made those artificial crab chunks sautéed with pesto and onions for the linguini but my tummy is a bit touchy so it will be dinner. Almost have the freezer emptied, Yay!

DR, the candy looks great! I'm not much of a sweets eater so I'll pass. Thanks.

Good Afternoon All,

Well, got home from teaching Sunday School, got on the phone with my Mom,,,,our Sunday tradition,,,which is usually good for at least an hour,,,usually more,,,,Thank God for free nights and weekends on my cell package,,,LOL,,,,finished talking with her and just wanted to check in Real quick like. I have a list a mile long that I *Need* to get done today and times a wastin' so I will just say, I have read all the posts, hope everyone has a good day and that things go a little easier for all. I'll check in later,,,prolly sometime tonight after I get done with my stuff and want to veg.

Kelly

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Hi people,

Just checking in. I was exhausted after yesterday's craft fair. (It was a really s-l-o-w one, but since the space cost next to nothing, still profitable). Poor DH is in agony and was up a considerable part of the night. We figure he either wrenched something in his back with all the set-up and break-down of my booth yesterday or he may have a kidney stone. Whatever the case, it's no fun at all. He's been in bed pretty much all day so far and doesn't even want to attempt eating anything more difficult to handle than toast. I'm hoping that ibuprofen will give him some relief.

M5, there's nothing to make this better, but at least Oskar is at home in familiar surroundings with you and his feline buddies. I can only echo sarv, I hope it's quick and peaceful. Darn! Tearing up again.

Snow seems to be tapering off a bit here. It's been snowing all morning and there's a few inches on the ground. The birds are going frantic of course. Besides getting up. dressed, and using the exercise machine, the sum total of my accomplishments today have consisted of putting out some sunflower seeds and a chunk of peanut butter "suet" for our feathered community.

Dr --- the candy looks great. Wish I could say that I'm not much for candy, but it would be a bald-faced lie!

Darius, sorry to hear of the latest crisis. I hope nothing got wrecked (including your back, etc. from having to lug all the boxes around again!) I think we'll ALL be heaving a sigh of relief when you get everything moved out of there!

Mg, glad you all made it home safe.

Sarv, before I forget for about the fifth time, do you mind telling me how many grow lights you have? The reason I'm asking is that our electric bill just took a good hike, probably mostly due to a rate increase, but I have two grow lights going now and was thinking of putting more of them and some glass shelving on my Xmas list. Now I'm wondering if that would really be a good idea as our finances are likely to get a lot tighter soon.

Well, I meant to respond to more people on the forum, but DH just told me that he's decided he's hungry and he'd like a grilled cheese sandwich, so I'll have to leave things at Hi and Bye and I really haven't forgotten everyone else.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Mc- I have total of 10 grow lights blaring - have them on for 14 hrs a day. I have another ten to get going, but they wont be turned on until I get my seeds started.

DR - yum I love sweets- I'll try some of both!! I gave DIL over half the cookies as my hands won't stay out of the bag!! But I just got home from Target and got some pretzels to dip in white coating (love them!!) When I got to Target, I found out the set (magnetix) I was after was even cheaper - 24 bucks- but I had to travel to a different Target to get it - but I did - now I can spend $15 bucks on something I want!! I tell ya, no matter what I buy, it goes on sale the next week. I can't tell ya how often that happens to me!

DH is snoozing in the chair and I should get busy and do something other than sit at this computer...

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

McCool, most grow lights are flourescent, and running them is very cheap compared to other lights. They consume the most power in the first 2-3 minutes as the ballast is gearing up. Running for many hours is cheap which is why so many offices leave theirs on all the time rather than on and off. Incandescents, halogens, etc, are a different matter and should be turned off when not in use.

Hi all
Finally got home, got lunch over and am trying to get caught up with everyone.
Anne, thanks ... you saved me some time. When I'm in doubt of a word's correct spelling, I can spell it character by character by moving my left or right arrow key across the page. This will spell the words to me. Of course, I usually don't take the time to do this, and it occurred to me when I was typing my reply last time that I might be spelling your name incorrectly! Now that I know you spell yours with an E I'll be sure to address you and not the other Ann when we're talking music. LOL Speaking of which, I think your biggie will be coming up, right? I missed an opportunity to hear one of our local churches give a special hand bell piece yesterday at the Winter Fest but didn't know they were doing it, and we left before I was aware of it. Sure hated I missed it. :-(
McCool, sorry to hear your DH isn't feeling well. Sure hope it's not kidney stones. Wish you could have had your craft items down here yesterday. Not meaning to wine, but there sure wasn't much to choose from in the way of craft items. That's the part I enjoy.
Carol, I've taken the liberty and helped myself to those delicious cookies. I'm suppose to be watching my weight but am not doing very good in that department right now.
I can't believe all of you having snow and ice. I just checked our temp and it's 73.4 with sunshine. I'm sure it was hotter than that earlier. Guess my poor Christmas tree will be dead before Christmas.
Well, hi to everyone I've missed. I'll go see what else is going on in the garden. LOL
... Elaine

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Well, needed to take a break,,,,,actually, I just wanted to see what I was missing out on,,,,LOL. Got the Salon decorated as much as I'm going to do this year. Usually I put all kinds of dust collectors around,,,but not this year,,I have enough already just with the retail stuff. Have included a collage for anyone who might be interested

Elaine,
I don't know if you have software that describes pics to you so, the first pic is of the bigger mirror in the salon, it has an 8' length of pine garland across the top and down both sides, with red poinsettia lights, metallic red snowflake wire garland and a gold round string ornament hanging from the center of the garland atop the mirror ,,hope that makes sense,,,LOL, Then there is the big window, with pine garland and icicle lights, that shine the color of whichever bulb they are attached to, then is a pic of the small window,,,with you guessed it,,,pine garland with just the regular mini multi-colored lights. The last pic is of the area above my cabinets, I put silk poinsettias that have gold trim and some have a little pine bough with a pinecone on them on top of the cabinets and the doorway that goes from the salon into a tiny hallway there is some different kind of silk poinsettia garland with pine branch and pinecones on it also.

Well,
Off to do some more stuff,,,,,ta ta 4 now

Kelly

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Maybe it would help to attach the pic,,,,or did I describe it welkl enough that you don't need it,,,,,ROFLMBO

Kelly

edited to add,,,,OOOOOO, I forgot my Santa and Reindeer lighted shapes in the big window. One is made in the shape of Santa in the sleigh and one is shaped like a reindeer taking off for flight. They light up and are Very cute,,,,LOL

Elaine,

Just a quickie. Out to a rehearsal in a few minutes. If I read your message right above, you've got it backwards. I'm the musican and I'm the one without the "e". The other Anne has the "e". I'm a bit unusual in Canada because Ann without the e is less common here than the other way around, but then I was born American.

Ann

edited late in the evening to fix horrible typos

Oooops Ann, soooo sorry! LOL :) Now I think I've got it straight. LOL

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

DR - Mmmmmm Almond Rocca! Looks yummy!

Darius - I'm sure you can't wait to get this move overwith. I hope the weather holds up for you on they day the movers come.

M5- have you tried giving your kitty some fresh cooked chicken? I had volunteerd at a cat sanctuary and we had a very sick old kitty and the only thing he would eat for a very long time was fresh chicken. He made a surprising turnaround and was with us for another 6 mo. (((hugs))) and prayers to you.

Went to the craft show today and was a little disapointed that it was much smaller than when we went a couple years ago. It is held in a conventin center and is usually all full of vendors, this time it was only about half full. What was there was nice. Lisa and I always have a good time and we needed the day out.

Made a pot of split pea soup for tonight. Came out a little thin. Oh well they ate it anyway!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good afternoon/evening, everyone. The sun is making long shadows in the pasture. When I look at the shadow of a horse standing broadside to the sun the shadow is a horse on stilts. The face looks long too but things that are horizontal stay normal length only deeper. So, for Elaine, picture those long long long legs, a deep body of normal length end to end, a farily normal neck with an extra long face, and long ears. Like something in a cartoon. The sun has been out brightly all day, no clouds at all.

This morning we watched a red fox hunting in our pasture. He is probably the same one I took a picture of a couple of days ago. I spotted him just after it got light and we watched him trotting along, then sneaking, then stopping, and suddenly POUNCE on something. He caught one mouse or other rodent, crunch crunch and it was history, er, breakfast. He chased a rabbit but didn't catch it, then after a lot more sneaking and pouncing he found a place he liked next to a little hump of snow and took a nap in the sunshine! I sure wished for a camera with about a 10x zoom. He was about 3 times as far away as the picture I took the other day so you wouldn't have even seen a small spot. I did go take a picture of the spot where he took his nap, just a little place about 15 inches in diameter with the snow smashed down and lots of tracks in it.

We saw a newborn calf this morning, the first one. We were on a road we usually don't take. There is a purebred Angus Ranch near town that always has the earliest calves around and I was thinking that it will be about 4-5 weeks before we see any, and then here was this little guy standing there in the sunshine. I wonder if his owner was also surprised. Sometimes cows have unplanned pregnancys, too.

Elaine, I'm sorry you missed the handbells. I have only seen them played once, what a treat that was. Not only is the sound unique but watching all the players was fun too.

Oh, and the easy way to remember which Ann is which, just point to ViolaAnn's name and I think the computer will tell you. The other Anne doesn't have it in her screen name. Does that help?

Nice decorations, Kelly. I hope your customers like them. Ours might go up next weekend, my hubby likes fooling with them so that's ok with me. Usually we put up our outdoor lights on some day with horrible weather. Just a couple of strings along the porch and fence, a wreath by the front door, one on the gate to the yard and one by the road at the top of the driveway. We live so far off the road people just get a quick look as they go by in the distance, and so we don't get fancy.

DR, I used to make almond toffee candy with a lady who was really set up for it. She had special pans, a couple of big marble slabs, big knives for cutting, all of that stuff she didn't use for anything but candy making. We cut the toffee when it was only partly cooled, making small bars about 3/8 of an inch wide and about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long, had to work fast to keep it from shattering into odd shaped pieces. The next step was to dip them in melted chocolate and then quickly roll them in chopped toasted almonds. These people had a business and she mailed boxes of candy to all their suppliers and all their customers. She also made brittles, some with macadamea nuts, some with cashews, hazelnuts, or mixed nuts, and put orange oil in the brittle mix. Wow, that was good stuff. I used to go help her for a couple of evenings every year. If I bought some of the supplies I took home candy too. She had lots of people who came to help, so she sure couldn't afford to give away a lot of extra candy, but did give us the use of her kitchen and equipment, her recipies, and advice. Oh, and samples while we were there, we ate the funny looking ones. These almond toffee candies were identical to Almond Roca. Now I have to buy it every year.

Darius, your night of moving boxes was anything but restful. We will all be glad when you are out of that apartment. If that radon test comes back positive is there any fine or anything that will be charged to the homeowner? Or is this just for your own information or curiousity? Radon gas is pretty common isn't it?

I'll download the pictures later and post one if it is any good. I also took some pictures of the horses reaching over the fence to prune my flowers that grow next to the pasture fence. They are rascals.
Time to go feed my animals. Like many of us, they live for mealtime! My husband is also looking restless so after I finish with the animals I'll be fixing people food. :-)

Starkville, MS

DR - if you ever want a change from regular peanut brittle, following the same recipe use coarse chopped pecans instead of peanuts and change the vanilla to maple. It's really good!

Gotta run - I've kept up with you all but I'm supposed to be helping dh fix a clock. ( I just hold the flashlight.)

ginni

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the tip Suzieq. DH got him to drink some water this afternoon, and once he started he drank quite a bit. I was worried about him getting dehydrated, and was glad he drank. Later I heated some salmon, and he ate almost a teaspoon of it. Now he's napping. Talked again to the vet, and she said that he can take a sudden turn for the worst if he has more difficulty breathing, and if they feel they are suffocating they can panic. Then it becomes dangerous to handle them. There is no good end to this, I just hope to keep him warm and comfortable for as long as possible. I so appreciate all your comforting words, and it helps to make this easier to bear.

All that candy looks and sounds delicious, and the roca gives me some ideas for using my big marble slab on my countertop. It used to be a coffee table until a ceiling fan fell on it, missed DH by inches. Now I use it for rolling pastry.

Kelly your salon looks very festive. Where I went the other day for a haircut they had little reindeer feet on all the chair legs! Got a razor cut, didn't think anyone did that anymore. The gal who did it was very nice, and I think I will be a repeat customer.

Marye, I hope you catch a closeup of the fox, I think they are so beautiful.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

everybody home tonight lots going on but glad everyone seems good today!!
Special (((( M5))))
Love to all,

Anne ( with an E)

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

MaryE- Good thing I don't have any candy in the house. After reading your post, i am having serious cravings!

DH just got called back in to work. He only got home at 5:00. The water that is on the roads is now freezing, so now they have to go out and salt. There is another foreman and it should be his turn to go in, but tomorrow is the first day of deer season here and he is on vacation. OT will come in handy for Christmas tho.

Kelly - Meant to comment earlier that your salon looks very pretty.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

MaryE... about the Radon test. If it comes back Positive, I will have to talk to a lawyer. Radon is fairly common in the rocky granite we have here. Do't know why my landlord didn't test for it, money probably. Mostly the test is for my peace of mind unless it's positive.

I joke that I could own this house, but in reality I wouldn't sell it to anyone if I knew it had a radon problem and I sure wouldn't want to live in it.

Kelly, decorations are lovely. Is your salon attached to the house or a commercial space?

M5, just keep taking deep breaths.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

darius ~ isn't it relatively easy to correct for radon if the test is positive (not that it would be your problem any more...the radon in the house that is)

Everyone's photos look festive - the salon all decked out, the candy making, MaryE's spectacular snow scenes. I'm hoping it'll all sink in and inspire me to do something creative. (Write Christmas Greetings in the film on the windows maybe?)

M5 continued prayers and good wishes. Oskar is so cared for, and he knows it.

suzieq your weather sounds bad. I hated those black-ice days on the highways in NJ

DR the candy looks tempting! I'm GOING to try making some. I do lollipops, but have not done brittles...I also want to try caramels some time. I can't have candy around (no willpower) so maybe I could make gift boxes. I've always been intrigued by home made candy .

I just have to say ... y'all make me smile! :) It's like reading my fav book when I come in here to read your post. It's extrordinary the way you describe your surroundings and pics which you have taken. Mary, I can just see your house sitting off the road a ways in my mind's eye with all that beautiful snow. And the horse ... oh my, now there's a description. LOL Remember as children what fun it was to stand on the sidewalk when the sun was *just* right and you'd look tall and thin? hehehe Yes, I can just see your horse!
tgif, you and Carol are making me drool with all that talk about candy. I'll have to try it with the pecans, also. We have a lot of them way down south. LOL
M5, sure hope Oskar is doing as well as can be expected tonight. It's good he was able to drink and take a bite to eat.
Mags, glad you and ViolaAnn got me straight. I might not have spelled the screenname correct ... but I know Anne and Ann now! :)
We had left over chili again tonight. I'm not sure what we're having tomorrow ... but I can tell you what we're *not* having. The chili is going in the freezer.
Well, the DH is calling, so I'll go see what he wants. Hi to everyone else.

dcmcdevitt, there are some cheap ways to seal radon from coming inside, but they require bare walls and bare concrete floors. In the case of this apartment, it would mean taking out the drywall and the glued-on carpet, tiles, etc. Plus the costs of mitigation spraying. As a contractor, I'd assume $5,000 to $10,000 to do it right and reinstall and finish drywall, tiles, etc. A plain unfinished basement could be done for maybe $1,000.

Darius, if the test comes back positive, maybe your landlord will give you a "bonus" not to tell! Or just leave a note inside one of the cupboards, I'm sure he won't be doing any cleaning up after you move! I know you won't do this, but I couldn't resist.
