That sounds fun too.....let's just go somewhere, lol !!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I just went into my plant room to take a picture of one fat little pod on Unknown Pink X M & H what a surprise I got the pod was all shriveled up, I opened it and there are about 40 nice dry seeds.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

I brave the elements (that is 50 degrees here) and took a couple of pod shots this morning. Here is butterfly.

V. Peach. The father is either V. Peach or Butterfly. V.Peach x Butterfly could v quite attactive, don't you think?

For the brug deprived. Here is butterfly this morning. She is just loaded with buds again but her haircut will continue today. It took me two years to get a bloom from this plant and now it will not stop. It is a hummer hiding place as well. It is cool this am so she has not pinked up yet.

Oh no...
PlantFiend... year after next?? Can I whine now? Well, you have a PODLESS friend in CA to endure our podless years through... and gawk and drool at all the others, while we nurse our babiez along to greatness...

Congrats to you Frogs.. Butterfly is AWESOME

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

OK, this may sound silly but when a pod forms do all brugs cross with all different types of brugs?...Im thinking they dont but I am just learning about all this stuff...my versi is making pods, my Miss Anna is and Isabella...not I didnt do the polinating so Im assuming some of the other brugs got frisky with the pod brugs...lolol..anyone want to try and explain this to me?...Judy

This the first pod on my "old white" girl. She bloomed all summer but I would pick off the flowers. This bloom opened in the greenhouse. She may be old but still gets "frisky".

Moonglow-as you can see, I still have a piece of Butterfly with your name one it.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Frogs, it was kind of you to "brave the elements" for those photos! We are such babies in CA! I whine because now I have to put on a jacket to play in the garden!

Oh my, trips to Germany and brug cruises...my husband is going to leave me for sure!

What is the longest time someone has had to wait for a pod to ripen?

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

A Brug Cruise? Hmmmmmm...... I'm with you Margo, any excuse to cruise would be just fine. We're bound to find Brugs in the Caribbean, and Hawaii. We'd have to do a river cruise to get to the Brugs in Germany, and then a hike into the hills perhaps. We could be migrant pod pickers. Too bad we don't have any Brug addicts in Alaska. That cruise was great! So, let me know who wants to start the first Brug Travel Agency.

I just remembered, I think the movie is:

The Pod That Ate Cincinnati

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

We could make it like the progressive dinners-anyone remember those? Breakfst in CA, snack in AZ, lunch in Iowa, cocktails in Tx, dinner in NY, Dessert in France, Breakfast in germany etc. etc.

PS. plant_fiend, what's a jacket?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow Frogs, nice pods. That first one looks like an aurea pod. Is it? And the second is sure a versi pod. What a fantastic BF. Just gorgeous.

Oh Tony, your pod has gone by! I do not know if any seeds in that will be viable. I have never tried ones that have dried so much. Have you or has anyone tried with such old pods?

Betty, I have pods that look like that on my versi x hybrids. Is your white a suav type?

LOL Mary. Sounds like such fun!

Angela, I had to wait 12 months I think it was for my Vulcanicola pods to ripen. And even then they did not appear to be ripe. I should have just picked them at 9 months. Sangs and sang types usually take 9 months. They are ugly pods too.

Watch out Frogs, some on the cold coast will give you a big punch! LOL I heard from my boy it is snowing in NYC tonight.

Vulcanicola pods over 12 months old.

Here are the biggest pods I have seen on Dave's I think. They are Candida pods. Big Candida pods. LOL. A old member Ludger posted these on here a while back. I always wondered how many seeds he found in them when they were ripe!

Corte Madera, CA

9 months for sangs? i could have a baby sooner. lol.

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

Kell, I have so much to learn, I don't know the type, this is her picture. It is an unknown that I have had for many years. Way BDG. LOL

Thumbnail by picabo
San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Kell, the first pod is Butterfly. I cut many pods off BF in the leopard finding project on the other side of the plant. The leaves are so dense, it is hard to see the flowers. Pods are all but invisible. Monster had big ole pods on her. All but one have gone to new homes now (well if you count a couple of pods worth on my desk here in envelopes.) I was surprised to hear the 20 seed count for most pods. Monster sure had more than that in hers.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

These are the two pods on M & H I decided to take one off and check it out, and sure enough they are ready.

Doris is that yellow thing fly paper?? I've got some in my GH and I've never caught anything on it, except last year one spider and i think it was a good one...your pods are super, I'm going to check mine, they are in the GH and, boy, I hope they mature...

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

SherryLike, they are sticky Fly Trap, I also have the Swiffer sticky traps cut up hanging everywhere, better than spray, and as you can see I caught a lot of those pesky gnats.

I've been invaded by the nats. Ut oh! To the store to get some of those fly traps. I watered today and it seems like one flew out of every pot. For some stupid reason, I thought they would by pass me. Duh!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Frogs, I do not think most pods have 20 seeds. They usually have lots more than that. Did you get that info from me above somewhere? I was looking for where I said a pod had 20 seeds. I know I did but I can't find it. I was referring to a specific small pod that someone asked me about. I have had way over 100 in some. I probably did not speak coherently and you misunderstood.

Sherry, on my search I saw where you asked about arboreas. I am not sure if anyone answered you, so I will again. True Arboreas self pollinate. You will get lots of pods on each of your plants if they bloom for you and are happy. I am not sure if they will like your weather though.

Judy, I saw your question too and do not think anyone answered it for you. Yes, they all will cross. Many of the seedlings you see posted on here are really mixed. Each parent are hybrids and then they are crossed. So it really allows an endless amount of possible results. You could get so many different looking seedlings from 1 pod. That is what makes growing seedlings so much fun. Anything is possible.

It is the Sangs/Vulcanicolas/Flavas/Arboreas that are in their own pollinating group.

Doris, are you going to plant all your seeds? I can't wait to see what you get.

Corte Madera, CA

i'm slow and catching up...

angela, the DHs are coming along to TAKE PHOTOS OF US. lol. to carry our bags, and to drive us around!

oh, a selling point to the hubby's? tours of the bmw and benz factories. perhaps you both may be interested in the european delivery program. money saved from the car goes to the BRUG FUND.

kell, it's december already and my other CDW (SoCal) is about to bloom. the big bud is not shown in this photo. i bet this one wants to grow a pod. it's potted up, so i can easily isolate it.

NEEDS POLLEN DONOR! kell, i have really become shameless. this is what addiction does? my mom has no idea.

Thumbnail by Moonglow
Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

Here's my one & only pod It's on a Wiskers X Isabella cross (white first bloom) & the only one that was blooming at the same time was Firstday X Rosabelle (Med Peach) The pod is still on the plant & I'm not sure when to take it off. It is still firm & green. I have taken all the leaves & blooms off to move them to their closer quarters in their GH within a GH. It was just too hard to keep the whole gh heated so I moved them to a tented corner & it's much warmer now.

When my pod grew so large, these bad scientist came and wanted to do test on it. I took it and ran away.

But then I found it was alien and I set it on fire.

Sorry, I don't have a real Brug pod, so I have to pretend. LOL

I'll just tell you, I think that guy has pod fever...

Myrtle Beach, SC

Crystal....I want some of whatever it is you fed that Brug plant, LOL. Next year I will have pods or cry. Watching ya'll has given me "pod envy"....hehehe... That looks like so much fun. AND when Kell said each seed from the same pod could throw something different, oh wow....how intense is that ?
Good luck you all....can't wait for the seedling parade in the Spring !!
God bless, Margo

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

I probably read too fast and between lines that were not there. 100 seeds could repopulate the world lol.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I can assure you that Kell knows what she is talking about, with regard to each seed possibly throwing something different - I have Kell seeds that have Yed and bloomed from 2 feet to almost 12 feet. The one thing they have in common, at least here in Arky, is, they are all pink +, no white, no yellow. I love all colors but I'm nutz for pink, and + is super nice!!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

kell, no way I can grow them all but I do plan on planting six of each pod to see what develops, then give the rest away for others to try.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Kell wow i would been happy to get bloom a pod i would go wild proably .. very nice.. i have some things going to try different in to start seeds when get some.. i think work.. maybe not my ideas usually goofy.. as I.lol.. everyone great pictures great brugs and the POds..
