Hey it's not Saturday yet, but the boss says post in this forum!!

Julie, please don't get too organized and show us all up. I know, should be planning for the tax season, but have to get other things done first.

Maria, LOBSTER SANDWICH, you don't know the amount of drool that came with reading that. I absolutely love any and all sea food., Urr, let me edit that, except oysters. Can eat the breading, but not the oyster. Make breaded oysters for DH, but I will usually have shrimp. And that is frozen, processed, and not near fresh. I would be in heaven if I could eat fresh seafood anytime I wanted it. And about that fence. We use electric wire above ground, attached to posts. The animals don't have collars, just have to learn by experience. Once they have experienced the jolt, they avoid it like the plague. All except Rusty!! Maria, didn't comment on the help you had at the mall from the guy. Sounds like he was trying to get to know you better. What an observant fellow. Maybe you should start hanging out at the mall more.LOL

Sarv, I will be happy to come to your house to do stuff, but you will have to feed me. And I eat traditional meals. Not oreos or meatloaf sandwiches for breakfast!! LOL

Welcome echoes, have you been here before? If you have I apoligize for not remembering. Has anyone explained our "loose rules" to you. If not your induction session will begin tomorrow.

Meezer, of BIG HUGS for you and OSKAR. Any furby is a friend of mine. Aren't they great? Just give unconditional love. Will be praying for Oskar's health.

Susieq, any homemade cookie is my favorite. I have tons of recipes that I got from reading a mystery writer's books, dang can't think of her name right now. When my senior moment passes, I will let you know. There is an orange one that I just love. So you are doing the parent reversal too. Try not to worry about your parents, just know that they are doing what they want to do.

Mary great pics, looks like a place I could fall in love with. The sunrise? was absolutely gorgeous.

Okus, so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well again. Ya know Santa is coming, so have to get you well by then. Why not make an appointment with the Dr, and get this stuff out of your system?

Magoobu, You are a busy girl. I have missed you, but understand. With kids, it is a never ending chaufer service.

McCool, your craft fair will be a success, I just know it. And it has to be a relief to know it is the last one.

Well, I have read all evening, and have about finished the book, so am going to take it to bed with me and see how it turns out. Today has been a great day. Busy, but one that saw me accomplish things. I can do it, if I just have a day to stay home. Always on the run. DH and I are going out to eat tomorrow night and do some shopping, since our trip to Gatlinburg has been cancelled. The trip was not only for shopping, but a time for decompression before the holidays. Maybe we can turn off the phone and post a "Quarinteened" sign on our door. With our luck, most will not know what that means!!

Well good night all, hoping for a restful, dreamless sleep tonight.

Night all.

Hey, MG, gee thanks, very cute birthday card, love it
Love the poems too!!!!

Wanted to say thanks to Elaine for your nice comments about my son. Do appreciate.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Every so often MSN says good by to me and I have to reboot again that is what just happened after I just about finished my post. As I was saying I do not like malls, Defoe, especially this time ofthe year. That young man was very nice, though I do like younger man but not that young, he could have been my grand son lol, very thoughtful and observing and said good bye as he walked away'
know what you mean about fish, my New England Family ate any fish all the time, little necks, clams , shrimp, . oysters, muscles an scallops. any fish from the ocean. The only shell fish I do not like is when it is raw, or even the little necks from a clam bake , it is an aquired taste, my children love it, they were fed with it before they had teeth lol by their grand parent and Dad, I just prepared it, Some time when DH went fishing, I had to clean the fish and put them in the freezer, did not mind at all.
Am now falling asleep sitting up, just noticed it is 2:13 EST
Good night

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone!!

Welcome Echoes!! Pull up a chair and tell us all about yourself/family...I watched the Letterman show too - that Oprah is one classy gal. I never miss her daily show on TV - and DH sits and watches it too!

DR- Happy BD to you (old lady.....) Join the crowd... Our youngest was in wrestling for 4 years. I didn't like it...ate a roll of tums everytime he was on the mat. And was so worried he would get picked up and slammed down. And those weekend tournaments were the pits!! That's where I got bleacher board butt. I prefer basketball!! Oh, sorry to hear about your son that got rejected. When my kids were in school they hung the rejection notices outside their dorm door. At least they weren't alone, but the hurt was still there!

Maria, I've NEVER even had lobster!! I DO need to come visit you. I love shrimp and other seafood- just not clams either...I did have oysters on the half shell (raw) and don't want them ever again tho...nasty little things.

M5- oh man, hope Oskar gets better...DH and son put down our last cat (no one would take him to the vet to have it done) Worse experience they had- they both sobbed. Our current cat has taken to laying on the stove or in front of the microwave. I get up early to make sure she bambooses before DH sees her. He will not put up with that!!!

SusQ - I'll take anykind of cookie - I especially like date filled ones (isn't that weird!)

Last night DH and DS and I went to a local hang out called Pete's Tavern. T hey have all you can eat fish on Fri night and they are always packed. We crammed into a booth made for two. Ordered, ate, and then DS said he didn't have any $$ with him. He is always doing that- they do live on their credit cards - I should have told him to pay with the CC and we would give him cash. Instead DH just paid for the whole thing. Grr, he makes me mad doing that!! Food was good tho!

I have nothing planned for this weekend. Hmmm - wonder if I should do some more shopping?

Darius- I cannot tell you how many things I end up pitching - buying in quantities is a bad habit I have. What a waste of $$.

Gotta go - I'm hungry..

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Good Morning! Looks like a beautiful day. Should get 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow and then Monday we could be in for a doozy depending on which way the storm tracks.

I have been up since 6, but havn't done a darn thing other than switch a load of laundry. I think I have enough caffein in my system now to get a move on.

DaisyR - hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Sarv - My DH flips when he sees a cat on the table or counter also. Except for the old man, Tigger. He is our senior tabby and thinks he can do as he pleases. The other 2 cats know to scram when someone walks in and catches them on the table. He just look at you as if to say "I dare ya to move me"

Have a good day everyone!

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Hi everyone! Checking in to see what the heck day it is!! I'm in denial I guess. The sun is shining brightly here on the 1 inch of snow we got last night. I just love it bright.

Sounds like a storm is coming, from the above posts? Guess I'd better check the weather reports.

Meezer ~ best wishes for Oskar. It's just too hard to let a best friend go.

DR - Happy Birthday! Do you get to do anything fun to celebrate?

darius - despite the occasional waste, I buy in quantity too. I was just reading in the paper that neither gov't nor business has any plans in place to keep things running in the event of a pandemic. As one who always has enough on hand to weather a catastrophe, I'm thinking, what will everyone do if there's no food on the grocery store shelves? Or the ATM machine doesn't work , gas pumps don't pump without electricity, etc. I remember this discussed on the hurricane thread. I keep at least a month's supply of provisions on hand, and if you keep track of dates, very little goes to waste. And if something does, I consider it the price of insurance!

I'm a NEW person today. I finally got my orthotics yesterday!! I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in both feet about six weeks ago. I have been in pain since the spring, but figured I was just too fat or wimpy or something, so made myself keep going. Then i couldn't get out of bed in the morning and put weight on my feet. I couldn't face crawling through the rest of my years on earth!! So I went to the podiatrist. Turns out the tendons on the bottoms of my arches are tearing away from the bone, and a few other complications. Way painful.
now these little plastic thingies that it took six weeks to make are in my sneakers and I just want to cartwheel all the way down Main Street!! I can WALK or run even if I weren't so out of shape. I had no idea how the constant pain had taken over my consciousness. I'm so happy!!!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Good morning, every body
Happy Birthday, Daisy, have a good one!!!
Never let cats on counters or tables, they would get a good swipe from me a few times never did it again
Sarv, I am not having massage till Moday evening! I do wish you would come and visit me and anyone else, what fun that would be. Your Son is a smart cookie, Sarv, LOL
Susie, we are getting snow tomorrow, right now it is clear, a very cold wind feels like 0 but it is 30'
Sciatica did not bother me this morning at all, must be I took Samson out very late last night, actually it as around 2 am, and threw balls for him, that was tons of exercise, lol

Good morning! It's 44 here today. Yeah, I know, but cold for me. LOL
Daisyruffles, happy birthday! Just got my big one over with not that long ago. No dumps for me. I just say ... keep 'm comin! LOL :)
M5, how is Oskar this morning? Sure hope there's some improvement. Please know you're in my thoughts today.
I'm with you Defoe on the oyster thing. Other than that ... I love seafood. Never had lobster, though, but have heard it's sweet like crab legs ... and I do love those things!
Darius, we buy from Sams in bulk, also, and I too lose something from time to time. Makes ya mad, but makes me even madder to pay that price for a small bag of spinach when I can get that big one from Sam's LOL
I know I'm leaving things out, but I'm still on my first cup of caffine ... so please overlook me. We're going to our town's "Winter Fest" today. Will be in and out. Y'all have a great one. There's magic in the air today. LOL
Hugs&blessings ... Elaine

Happy Birthday, Carol (DR)!!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

dm - I had the plantar Fas stuff too . I wore the inserts faithfully for one year and only wore Merrill shoes. Mine is gone, but I had it for two years before I finally did something. I thought it was just that I was so overweight and had stepped hard on a rock in my barefoot days! I tell ya, it was the most painful thing I have experienced other than my surgeries!! Thank goodness I only had it in one foot~

Maria you were out at 2am??? You should be in bed at that time!!!

I am listening to my gardening program on the radio. They are talking about planting amaryllis - and I bought three of them. Gotta listen carefully....

It's going to be a slow day here today - I am still in my jammies at 9:30am and have had two breakfasts!! I had a yogurt early and DH made me a boiled egg and toast. Not too bad...no oreos. I am thinking about doing some xmas cookies today tho...

I left laundry in the washer overnight, so I need to redo it today - grrr Hate it when I do that!!

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

LOL sarv we must think alike. I blame everything on being too fat, then I go fix myself a snack to console myself!! I thought maybe it was form stomping on the shovel when i garden too. I'll wear the inserts for the rest of my life if i have to, I'm just so happy there's a fix (and it's bloodless!!)

Oops i'm still in jammies to. Better get going before i get caught!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Carol, Happy Birthday. Hope you have a great day.

dmcdevitt - sounds as if your weather is similar to ours. It's bright and glorious here today - first time all week, I think.

re the plantar fasciitis I hope your orthotics do the trick. Don't be surprised if it takes awhile for the pain to go away in the morning when you get up. I developed it about 12 years ago when I was doing a lot of figure skating (beginner lever, I'm no athlete). but concentrating on doing semicircles with inside-outside edges and foot strain - probably compounded by a boot that didn't really fit my narrow foot well - and I also developed plantar fasciitis. In my case, visits to a podiatrist and two different orthotics did not do the case, but after a year of messing around, I finally found a pair of running shoes which really fit my foot well and the pain disappeared within a few weeks. I still wear orthotics, but not from the over priced podiatrist. I get them from a company that specializes in just orthotics. Good luck with yours. Hope the pain goes away and stays away.

Beat you all with being in pajamas. But I've had breakfast and read the fat Saturday newspaper. Gonna get dressed now and get going.

Have a good day.

Ann

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I'm not in my jammies but I am in a snit. Why is there always some new jerk on DG that has to make a big public issue of a mis-spelled or mis-pronounced word? Must be nice to be perfect.

Off my rant before I really get angry! Grrrr

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

Carol (DR) have a great happy birthday today!

Thanks it is crazy busy with kid and all Holiday stuff going on but I am trying to keep up here at least.

M5 so sorry about Oskar how is he today??? I must have missed that before.

cold here lots to do and may get some snow- will bebop back a bit later
Have a good day all stay warm!!

Happy BIRTHDAY D.R. Carol!!!
And welcome to GOB-HOOD! LOL Hope your day is wonderful in spite of "life"! (Disappointments happening in our kids lives are the hardest to live with. We know that ours will go away and we'll just live with it...but the kids don't have that much experience yet.)

I'm really lost in the conversations now...haven't the foggiest notion of what's going on here. I did gather that Sheila has Oskar who isn't doing very well right now. Sheila...((((~hugs~))))...I know how much these kinds of things tend to hurt way down in the soul. Just remember that no matter what happens (or when) that Oskar will live in your memory for the rest of your life and as long as our pets remain 'remembered'...they really aren't gone at all.

It feels really good to sit at one end of this room...our tv/computer room (12X28) and be able to SEE the room instead of boxes and clutter that haven't been moved since we moved in here. LOL Now, if I only had all the actual *cleaning* done, I feel fantastic! (Curtains and windows to wash, ceiling fan to scrub, dust a foot thick and a pile of my DGD's toys that need a new "home") But at least I'm making headway. Have to get it all done because Winter Seed Sowing time is just around the corner. hehehe

Hello to EVERYONE!!
((((~Hugs~)))) to those who need them,
^^ ~prayers~ ^^ for those with problems,
And LOVE to ALL who visit!

~julie~

Darius, there's always people to point out mistakes. Just walk off and go see friends. :)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Magoobu, I choose not to point fingers at anyone, that just makes the situation worse. If it persists, I will just email Dave.

My first run-ins with this person were in Dmail a couple of weeks ago sent to me because a hyperlink I posted didn't give the information I suggested. (Actually it did, but one had to take the trouble to click on the product links in the new window.) This went on for more than a week of minor attacks in Dmails, essentially saying I was full of hooey.

I don't mind private attacks (although it took me by surprise) but a public one that involves several other people gets my goat.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

whew - that is sad when people feel the need to do those sorts of things!!! makes no sense to me just to start unrest between people. stay clear of that person---
((((Darius)))))

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!
dmc, you asked if I am doing anything special? Well, I may go to the mall to return some things I had bought earlier. Just look around there. May go to a Holiday/Christmas arts & crafts fair in town. Love to look and see what people are making nowadays.

Darius, I need to go back and see what you are talking about. Misspelled words are the way of the world, unfortunately. I am very picky on spelling but here in the cyberworld, who cares. I do use the spell check with Google which works great for me.

Sheila, hope Oskar is doing better? Think about him when I see my puddy cats walking around.

Ann, I love reading about your music things. I am hard-of-hearing and I used to love music. Nowadays, I can't handle music due to having tinnitus and more hearing lost. So you playing music is just wonderful!!!

Sarv (Sue), ok, am glad to hear that I am not the only one who cringes at the wrestling meets while your kid is getting picked up and thrown around on the mat. Yes, I love basketball much better. My older son played that for years and I thoroughly enjoyed those times. With basketball, there was a certain schedule so you knew what you were doing. You could go shopping, eat, etc. during the breaks. With wrestling, you never get a break and you end up with a butt as you describe. Ahhhhh! But my son has done well in wrestling so is good to see him succeed in something. He went to state last year and hopes to go this year, so.... lots of travelling will be invovled.

Ok, nobody sounds interested in what I wrote yesterday about dahlia tubers, fine. Will just have to ask again later from you guys.

Well, off to take a shower and head to town. Maybe I will get a Christmas tree too!! Would rather work in the gardens but this nasty rainy weather is still around. Winter is here!!!
Carol (DR)

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Julie!

Geez, winter sowing time! Let me just get my tubers divided first! Am not ready to start seeds yet! Too early yet, Julie. My you are impatient! lol lol lol
Carol (DR)

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

D.R. I'm not impatient! I only have a month to get everything done so I *can* do the WS thingy...LOL

~julie~
P.S. You can send me MORE dahlias if you want to...I won't mind. hehehe

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Happy birthday your royal Gobness (Carol) !! Here's to a happy day and no cooking, dishwashing, etc. Isn't it wonderful to be a full fledged GOB? (((Carol)))

Oh gosh, Oskar. He's breathing better today since they took lots of the air out of the area that was pressing on his lungs and heart, but he's not eating much. I tempted him with salmon, but he just lapped up the liquid and left the solid bits. Mini very cheerfully finished it off. She and Souky are being very attentive to him, sitting or lying near him, knowing he is not well. There is no good end to this, the condition is rare, and even with surgery to dig around and find the tumor which is probably the cause, it is likely cancerous, and he will suffer for naught. He will eventually not be able to breath, because the air will build up again. Every time I look at him, my throat closes up and the water works spout again. All we can do is keep him comfortable and warm, and it's just breaking my heart.

I'm a picky speller too, but here and in email, sometimes it just slips past you, and everybody understands what you meant to say. If someone consistently nitpicks about it, they evidently have too much time on their hands and they ought to go out and do something useful to mankind instead of trying to be superior and insulting. So there. Who is it? I feel like slapping someone upside the head, so I'll volunteer. I've posted links that required the person to take an additional step, but never had anyone complain about it. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

Julie, since you are on such a cleaning binge, would you like to drop in and attack my basement? I desperately need to get down there and resort and repack and probably discard numerous things. Just never get quite enough ambition to do it.

Hello to every one else, I'm just not in a mood to respond individually to everyone, but I have read all the posts and hope you all have a good weekend. Gonna go see if my best boy wants more salmon juice. He's on the left in this pic from yesterday, Souky is keeping him company in the sunny spot.

DR- you know I am interested in dahlia tubers!! I'll take any and all!! Oldest son was a basketball star for his HS years. But I remember one game when there was pushing, name calling during the game and the police had to escort DS to his car and then home. They were afraid there was going to be some flack from the opposing team - it was not DS fault , thank goodness and I didn't know about this until the next day (another thank goodness)

Darius - I don't have spell check on this old puter - so I KNOW I have misspelled words, but from teaching 3rd graders for years, I am a pro and deciphering words. Plus, the older I get, the more I have to question my own spelling. I used to be a whiz at spelling, grammar, but as the years come on, I am losing my expertise! But who cares!! A pox on anywho who has no more in life than to criticize (sp?) others. Get a life I say!

Well, I am dressed!! Hair washed, but not curled tho. And I have had a delicious yogurt breakfast bar (only eating it for lunch!)

I'm listening to an investment guy on the radio....who do you believe!!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

As brilliant as my husband was, he could not spell worth a hoot always asked me to spell a word, and here I am English is my second language, lol but I make mny spelling mistakes not to mention typo errors. What it this with this jerk who seems to think it is more important to correct the person he/she is posting with then the subject matter
Almost finih dusting and vaccuming, too cold out side to wash Samson's mess on the sliders.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Thanks, everyone. I have calmed down, the person in question apologized in a Dmail and removed the post. :)

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

meezer it's so sad. I had a cat that developed something like that. I had thought she had a hairball or something, but at the time, the other cats, for the first time ever, started curling up right with her. They knew. My friends dogs have done the same thing twice and the recipient of all the affection in each case was dianosed with cancer.

Prayers for strength and accepance

Happy Birthday Carol(the other one)!! Welcome to the world of the GOB.

Hi to everyone else! I've just about caught up with you all but there is too much to comment on each bit.

Elaine thanks! a dmail of the chicken soup sounds good. I haven't eaten much all week so maybe I lost some weight, but probably not!!! I manged to sleep last night and I don't think I moved for 12 hours! I think you are right Maria, if it hasn't gone by Monday I will have to get the doc to look at whatever is sitting on my chest. I know they can't do much for a virus but I think this may have bugs with it.

Darius don't let the mean folk get to you. They really are not worth the energy it uses.

M5 I have my fingers crossed for Oscar. It must be a heart wrenching time for you.

Its a lovely day outside here today so I'm going to see if a wlk in the sun improves my health. Hugs to all those in need.

Happy Birthday DR. Who cares if your a GOB or ette? I really like birthdays, when you think of the alternative!!

I read everybodys post, and didn't make notes, so I will probably miss someone, it is not intentional, just poor memory.

Darius, don't let one person get you down. Consider all the good that you have done, with posting things that we might be interested in. Your good outweighs that.

Meezer, I am so sorry for you and Oskar. He sure is a pretty boy. This kind of thing is never easy. If I had my choice, I would much rather have a swift end, than maybe a lingering one, where you feel so helpless to do anything for them.

DR is it you who has the dahlias? I just started raising them this year, and they were so pretty. If you have extras, I would love some. What do you want in exchange? Why don't you D-mail me.
And the disappointed son. That is so hard to deal with. I'm sure if you could you would exchange places with him and take all that hurt. Just assure him, that God always has a plan. He will get accepted to a better school.

Somebody said they had trouble keeping cats off the table and counters. When my persian, Miss Boots, was a kitty, someone told me to get a spray bottle, put water in it, and everytime she did something that I didn't want her doing, just give her a squirt in the face. Well it worked. She sometimes tries to press her luck, but all I have to do is show her the (empty) bottle, and she is back on her best behavior.

Dmc, glad you are getting some relief from the foot pain. When your feet hurt, you hurt all over.

Well I ran some errands this morning, and am trying to cook something for dinner tomorrow. What with church, morning and afternoon, doesn't leave much time to do it tomorrow. We are supposed to get sleet/freezing rain this afternoon, then turn into snow by tonight. Depending on how bad it gets, travel may be kept to a minimum. We had planned on going shopping late this afternoon, and eating out, so just in case, have put some hamburger out to thaw. Will check in later, so everybody stay warm.

Took this while outside - My December roses are right outside my office window, aren't they gorgeous!

Just finished baking 4 doz cookies (was given one of those jars that contain the dry ingredients) I can't decide whether I like them or not. I am not a fan of crunchy peanut butter - prefer the creamy. I've eaten 6 trying to decide!! DH thought they were tasty tho.

Defoe - keep that freezing rain down south!! It is just plain gloomy, bone jarring cold here.

Kitty has stayed off the counters today = but I see her staring at them longingly!! She is such a sweet heart and it is not like her to be naughty...She's out hunting right now...oops- I see her at the door.

Hey, nice, Carol... Zone Envy!!

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Meezer - Just give that kitty all the love you can and make him as comfortable as is possible. I lost my Mina kitty suddenly to cancer. I never knew she had it until a few days before she passed. I will keep praying for you and Oskar.

Okus - So nice to see flowers this time of Year. Everything brown and yucki here.

Sarv- Never did get around to baking today. Ran errands this morning and then helped DH stack more firewood to sell. Since they're forcasting snow, firewood has been going quickly. In between that, doing laundry.

Brrrr its cold here today. The wind chills you to the bone. Just got a shower to warm me up.
We are going to a Birthday party tonight. I don't know the girl all that well, so picking out a card was difficult. Her DH works with my DH.

My deepest gratitude for all your kind words and wishes for my sweet boy, I'm just leaking tears all the time. Thank you for thinking of me, and your prayers for him. It's just a matter of time.

Hello everyone. Happy Birthday daisyruffles, I hope it is a great day. I would take some of your dahlias but this is the wrong time of year to send any plant parts anywhere. We've only had one day in the past week where the temp got above freezing, and that was just briefly. Anything sitting in a truck or my mailbox ( a mile away from the house) would freeze for sure. I have my dahlias in boxes in the shop, didn't get them labeled yet and stored in peat moss, had planned it for a couple of days ago and ? happened so there they sit. If I divide them in the spring do I have to wait until they calous over before planting? Save me one of those bright red ones please. Of course if I look at your pictures I might see something else you could send......

M5, your poor kitty, sniff sniff for you too, it's sure hard to watch them in distress.

sarv, I made up some of those cookies in a jar for my sister last year. She loved the novelty and it saved her some time when she baked them. They were chocolate chip cookies with nuts. I think I will do the same this year, but maybe pack them into decorative jars I got at the thrift store for 50 cents each. How was the peanut butter packed in yours? I'd go for the crunchy type. Hmmmm, cookies for breakfast balanced with yogurt for lunch.

Okus, how nice to have roses in December. Thanks for sharing them with us. I hope you feel better after taking a walk, maybe some fresh air and a change of scenery is just what you need.

My Hubby took me out for breakfast this morning, then we went to get a few groceries and looked all over town for a small bag of orchid potting mix. It's not to be found in this town, at least not this month. But, I do have a friend in Louisiana who is always wanting to send me plants, etc, so I might just ask her to find me some and mail it. I only have 3 orchids, and they all need repotting. I've been looking around absorbing information on the DG Orchid forum in the past few days. Good thing I didn't put them in regular potting soil, that would do them in for sure. It seems that orchid mix is mostly chunks of bark and just looks like mulch to me, but the bark we have here for mulch in the northwest is mostly fir or pine that contains some pitch, and I think orchids need something like cyprus. Do any of you grow orchids?

Hubby is watching and enjoying the Army/Navy football game, enjoying it since Navy is winning. I think I will go label the dahlias where it is quiet.

Bye for now.

Mary, the jar that I had you had to add, butter, p. butter , eggs and vanilla. I think my peanut butter was funky tasting. I keep eating them trying to find out what I DON"T like!!

I'll send them to work with DH - they'll go there...

Time to add more wood to the wood stove- gosh are we going thru it fast this year!! I was talking to a friend and their gas bill went up 150%!! Can you say OUCH!!

Hi all
Went to the winter fest downtown today and walked around a bit. The Christmas music was nice, and the kids are so cute ... but not much else to it, though they can make all that food smell good. I was good, though, and didn't indulge in any of that junk stuff. Don't like to eat standing up trying to hold on to a plate and cup and eat with an extra hand I don't seem to have. LOL
Had to go to WM, of course, and are back in time to keep the nieces for a couple of hours. Bought all sorts of junk they don't eat, but what the heck, right?
M5, am still thinking about you and Oskar and sending gentle hugs as I've been there ... done that with my last guide dog. Sure had hoped the Lord would take care of it for me, but I had to do it myself. A mighty hard thing to do. Tears for you, my friend.
Whoever has the firewood ... just send some on down to GA. I think *everyone* is gonna be finding new ways to heat this year.
Sarv, might better eat a few more of those cookies before making any snap decisions. LOL Never can tell ... your opinion might change.
Welll, I'm hearing the doorbell, so I'll check later. Hugs all way around. Oh, another warm welcome to our latest. We love flowers around here!
... Elaine
