Coffee and...For Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005
Well, since it's past my bedtime (waaaaay past) I'll post here since it's really "tomorrow" LOL.
Dmcdevitt said
I once prayed for the patience to stop yelling at my kids and I woke up with laryngitis. It made me happy because I knew God was chuckling at me.
Isn't God funny sometimes??
Today (Wednesday) has been an exhilarating day. I cannot believe the generosity of my fellow DG members, giving SO generously from their hearts to Elaine who asked for nothing but merely posted a dream wish! We still have more to go, but it WILL happen.
darius,
That's a good one,,,LOL God tells us things in that manner,,,we just have to be open enough to listen,,, He uses a 2x4 on me most of the time. LOL

Congrads for the good health reports from Darius and M5 - early xmas gift for both of ya!
I have to go to DS house to wait for the furniture repairmen to come - DIL said she might be there, but doesn't know for sure... Hope she is - I love her to death!! She is so totally unorganized tho....
I've spent a sleepless night again - THIS time worrying about DH getting laid off. Honest to pete, I don't know why I dwell on things like that over and over. What will be will be....I even had to get up and take a xanax. The worry bug has set in again....
I never did have that oatmeal yesterday - maybe today...a breakfast burrito from Mc D's sounds good tho!! Gotta boogie and get over to DS. Take care all!!
Good Morning!
We got at least 4 inches of snow last night, and it is still coming down a bit. The kids have a 2 hour delay for school. I haven't checked Nathan yet, but I doubt he will be going to school anyway, he was still running a temp last night.
So what am I doing up when I could have gone right back to bed when I saw we had a delay? I'm sitting in an empty chatroom waiting for someone to come play! *sigh* ROFL!
Come to chat!
mg
ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH
I can't type in chat!!! I can see them, they can see me, but I can't say anything!!!
DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIX IT PLEASE!!!!!!
Good Morning every one, hope yuo ar all in goood cheer this morning, I know I am, happy about some of your medical problems are under control for now, M5 and Darius. I am going to see my Chiroprctor again today, just hope he will make me feel better, he is going to arrange a massage within the next few days.
Much cooler this morning, 40' have been throwing balls for Samson, he just loves it and does not ever want to stop, lol ,but I have too, ouch!
We WILL get ther , Darius, just let us know what the need will be! It certainly has uplifted my Christmas spirit that was not particularely high this year but there have been worse ones.
Know what you mean about worrying, Sarv,I do it all the time!
Good Morning all. Up at 6:00, arm hurting, so started my day early. Have had breakfast, put a turkey in the oven for an early Christmas dinner at DM's church tonight, and am off to my church to put up Christmas decorations. This will make 3 days this week I have worked at the church. Hope everyone has a good day today, and aches and pains are kept to a minimum. Will check in at lunch to see how you all are doing.
Oooohhhhhhh....it's beautiful outside! We got about 3-4 inches of snow over night and as usual the pines look like a Christmas Card.
Good Morning everyone!
I still haven't made the time to go back and read the several Daily threads that I've missed this week...and probably won't.
It's wonderful to see that *my* internet is still around and that there are still people out there who fearlessly respond to a the quiet voice that whispers to their heart. When I say *my* Internet, I'm referring to the one that *gives.* The one that has been a great comfort to me over many years. The one that makes connections with people I'd never have come in contact with were it not for the age of electronic communications.
Elaine...I'm SO happy that *my* Internet has touched your life and that you will remember this Christmas as the one when *good* hearted people helped make a very personal Christmas dream come true. I've been in shoes similar to the ones you're wearing, the recipient of things borne from a strange and wonderous relationship with friends I'd never meet in person...but that would always serve to remind me that people really *do* care about others. I'll never forgot what has been given to me, and I just wanted you to know that the feelings you're having now have been experienced by others. It's the most wonderful feeling to know that every now and then God touches our lives in ways we *never* could have imagined. ((((~Hugs~))))
And Kelly and Darius...(((~hugs~)))...for seeing a very special path and inviting others to walk it with you.
Back in "the days" when I was very active in one particular group, doing all kinds of things I didn't realize I was doing for people I didn't know were being touched by what I was involved in, I received this story from one of the "Starfish".
The Starfish Story
Once upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer.
He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he saw that it was a young woman and the young woman wasn't dancing, but instead she was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean.
As he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you doing?"
The young woman paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean."
"I guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?"
"The sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I don't throw them in they'll die."
"But, young woman, don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it? You can't possibly make a difference!"
The young woman listened politely. Then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said- "It made a difference for that one."
I don't believe that any of us truly understand how we my be touching the life of someone who needs it until we are made to stop and think.
Sometimes, you're the Starfish...sometimes, you're the dancing Woman.
(I've been both)
((((~ Hugs, all around ~))))

Edited because I can't get my 'stuff' together this morning. LOL

After all my whining and complaining, I have to say, I feel great today! Good news all around, what a way to start a gloomy December day, Sunshine all over Dave's Garden!!
And, Elaine, I am having grits with my eggs for breakfast!! Thanks to you, I have a jar on the kitchen counter and the rest are stored in the freezer for future use. We scarfed up all the onions already, being the professional eaters that we are.......lol.
So let's have an update, Gardengeek, no headache this a.m.? Julie sleep well? Maria, still aching from Samson's training on Monday? I know you are going back to the chiro and hope it helps again.
And, Carat, did your book arrive yet? My sis got her package I mailed at the same time, yesterday, so yours should be there soon.
I have to go in the spare bedroom and clear out the stuff I've been piling in there and inventory the gifts that I've gotten so far, and see what else I have to do. It looks like a tornado got loose in there. Since I feel so chipper today and the weather is icky, maybe I'll even wash those inside windows I've been procrastinating over for several weeks now. (Don't hold me to that, I said, Maybe)
Good morning to everyone else, I'll be back in later to catch up!
Morning all
Julie ... I want to say a *special* thank you for what you posted. That is indeed so very true. I read somewhere that giving is like throwing a rock into a lake. It causes a rippled affect that keeps going on and on. I want *each* of you to know that I understand that with a gift comes an obligation (if you'll let me use that term loosely) I *will* remember this and pass it on.
There are others here at DG who have real *needs*. Mine was a dream. To each of you ... thank you. Now make someone elses dream come true, K?
Hugs to each of you ... Elaine
M5 & Darius - Good news on those tests! Congrats!
Sarv - Xanex has been a lifesaver for me. This time of year can be so stressful. When you have other worries on top of holiday hoopla it can be overwhelming. Just put it all in Gods hands, it will work out.
Julie - I loved the starfish story. I'm going to copy it and put it on my bulletin board here at work.
I'm so happy this gift for Elaine is coming together. What a wonderful bunch of warm hearts here at DG. You all are the best!
MorningAll,
No headache today. YeeHaa. But my nostrils Still feel like they are the size of the state of Texas. Well, maybe not quite that big, cause I changed the pillows to the small ones and that helped some,,,,so we'll say ummmm, Indiana sounds about right.
Well, I actually got to chat on the phone with Darius last night,,,,what a cool lady! We were like two hens clucking away,,,LOL,,,,hhhmmmm, prolly for around an hour,,,,Loved it!!!!
sarv,
Sorry to hear of your sleepless night! Hope you have a good day,,,,,I am also a worrier and I think the same thing to myself,,,this is already planned I just have to see what happens and go from there,,,,sometimes that calms me down and then there's always my Xanax,,,LOL,,,,,hey that Buritto sounds mighty good,,,,hmmmm, no McDonalds around but one of our c-stores has awesome breakfast buritto's,,,may have to make a run,,,,LOL
mg,
Ummmm, maybe Dave just made it that way for you,,,the chat brat,,,,,ROFLOL Sorry to hear Nathan is still sick. We didn't get as much as you or julie,,,maybe just an inch, still is pretty though.
Maria,
Glad to hear you are in good cheer this morning. Sorry to hear your arm is bothering still. I hope the Chiro. can help you today,,,and that massage will be Wonderful *sigh*. LOL @ Samson not wanting to stop,,,those puppies have soooo much energy,,,I can just see him, "c'mon, play some more, play some more",,,,LOL Also glad your Christmas Spirit has been uplifted.
defoe,
Sorry to hear you are still hurting. Hope you get done at church quickly and can get home and take care of that arm. MMMM, Turkey sounds wonderful, I didn't cook so I didn't have any leftovers,,,maybe I'll do that this weekend.
julie,
What can I say, your 2 paragraphs were Very touching! And the Starfish story is awesome, I hadn't heard that one before. Thanks so much for shaing it. I will be making copies and giving it to my Sunday School kids this Sunday. I agree with you on the stopping and thinking part. I intend to do more of that. (((Hugs Julie)))
meezer,
No headach,,,LOL So glad to hear you are feeling so chipper today. Hope you get that spare room tackled and those windows done.
Well, Hope everyone has an awesome day,,,Unfortunately I'm costomerless until 3:00,,,,maybe will get the Christmas stuff out for the Salon and *git er done*, Check back in later.
Kelly
Back from DS. DIL was there too, so I didn't really have to stay as when I pulled in the driveway the furniture guys showed up too. Stayed and chatted a while with DIL, then went to the meat locker for some meat, Menards (grr they are always out of their ad stuff), and to the gas station for the sinful cappiccino. Didn't get my burrito from McD - had a yogurt instead. Aren't I being good!!
MIL just called and told me she has two more doc appoints that she needs me to take her to. My calendar is filling up!!
I am going to sign of and make myself for an hour without stopping- how does my house get in such a mess with just the two of us~~
See ya later tator!
Sarv, Was ya'll the one wondering where to get Burt's Bee's stuff ? Gots lots to do. DW leaves in half an hour for a 4 day stint at a meeting in Las Vegas. (poor baby) That means 3 days of "tearing" things up and cleaning up the mess before she returns. May even have to get the decorations down from the attic and put up the outside lights. Seems like this just happened yesterday, has it really been a whole year ? My how time flies.
Julie, I really like the starfish story. It's so true if we only think about it. Every little bit helps.
Getting cold around here, but nothing like some of you are seeing. No snow, yet. Freezing at night, wet during the day. Sandwiched between two mountain ranges and having the Pacific Ocean to boot does a lot to moderate the climate. With Global Warming we should be able to raise bananas instead of apples, if the polar ice-melt doesn't cover all the arable land. Ever the optimist.
Hope all your days are filled with joy, ailments healed, friendships enriched, and Santa brings everyone a package of Oreos, with your favorite stuffing.
Bal - I did find the bert's bees stuff and it is a wonderful product - I'm just not good about greasing up my heels and leaving socks on. I like to be very cool at night and those socks just make me roast!!
We're not doing lights outside this year - only indoor decorations. Just waiting for the elec/gas bill to see what damage all my grow lights have done.
I worked for an hour straight and accompolished a great deal. Now I need to think about what to throw together for dinner. I'm outta ideas!!
Snow's coming down and I'm dreaming about those oreos!!
HiYa!!
Whew, have I been busy! The response and contribution for Elaine's Christmas Dream has been awesome, and I have done nothing but respond to Dmails and PayPal emails all day. We are meeting the goal and enough over that she should have a good supply of labels too!
I have much I should be doing but I'm emotionally strung out from both the high's from the Elaine's Gift thing, and the dreadful unknowing low's before my test results yesterday. I think I need to hibernate, but then who will finish packing? Just 10 days left, and one already committed with a helper to take book boxes back to my old storage from whence they came. Sigh.
sarv, I'm with you ... can't take that on my feet. Makes the hot flashes worse, LOL Anyone else noticed that? Ooooh, you like those lattes, too?
I've gotten very little accomplished today. Am freezing ... can't seem to get warm. I know ... I know shame on me for fussing about the cold when I'm down here in the south! I really feel for all y'all who are having to put up with the snow, ice and blizzard conditions.
Maria, sounds like Samson is keeping you real busy and *young*? hehehe My girl always likes me to get down in the floor and play tussle with her. Sometimes I feel like I'm not going to be able to get up. I keep telling her that Mama isn't as young as she use to be. ;)
meezersfive, I'm very glad you're enjoying the grits ... but hey, I think I got the *best* end of that deal. The cheese curds were wonderful! Oh, and please let's don't talk about windows again. *sigh*
Carat, how are things going for you today? Am anxiously awaiting your check-in. Hugs and best wishes on your first day!
To everyone else I've missed ... no harm intended. Got to get up from here and fix a bite before I go to the dentist. Uggg, I *hate* dentists! LOL Ooops, sorry ... I do believe we have an extended one in the midst! :)
Hugs to all ... Elaine
Hello again. It's a snowy day here, we have a winter storm warning until 7pm tonight with 8 inches accumulation possible in the higher elevations. I think we might get half that amount. We have wind too but not very strong so it really was quite pleasant when I went out to feed the animals this morning. Elaine, you need to come up and play in the snow! More fun than going to the dentist for sure!
Robert, be sure to take before, during and after pictures of your project. We love pictures!
Sarv, good for you eating some yogurt for breakfast. Maybe we are your conscience? Remember that if you feed your body the right stuff the cravings for the empty calories is less and less. Yes, really.
Kelly got to talk to Darius, how cool.
Yesterday afternoon I took a nice walk and enjoyed the signs of animals and birds that I could see in the snow. In one place I could see where a bird had landed and dragged one wing in the snow. The marks from the feathers on the wing edges were there along with footprints. Farther along I could see where our resident fox had wandered around stopping to sniff and dig at something, sitting down to scratch, going out on to the slushy pond surface and sitting down again. There were also some rabbit and weasel tracks .All these signs were frozen like photographs. Next time I'll take the camera along, I didn't think of it yesterday. I took the shovel with me to dig out a place for the two horses in the big pasture to get a drink. They might use the edge of the pond for a day or two, but more likely will use a small spring. The shovel was parked in a fence corner for the winter since I will need to go clear that spring out until the snow gets too deep. After that I will put those two horses in with the other 3 who have access to a tank that is filled by the main spring on our place. It used to be our domestic water too but then we drilled a well a few years ago and have lots of good water for the house, yard and garden. We were just on the verge of running out during the driest part of the summer every year just when demand for gardening was highest, so when they forecast the drought to continue a few more years we decided it was time to drill.
I haven't heard what the long term forecast is concerning this drought cycle, but if the weather this week is any indicator we may be in good shape for getting more water into the ground. While deep snow inconveniences everyone somewhat while they try to get around to feed the animals, or travel, it is just what we need.
The propane delivery truck is here to fill the tanks for the shop and the greenhouse. Gotta go so I have a check for him before he leaves.
Mary =- you're gonna think I am a pig!! I had a food bar, then chips and dip and now squirt cheese on crackers. I'm gonna blame it on my DH, he comes home every afternoon and makes himself a snack and of course I join him!! He however knows when to stop!!
Darius - I too go from hi to lows - I think it is human nature. Missed the mailman today, so will drop the check at the post office tomorrow.
I received a bill from Kohl's yesterday. Today after I had cleaned the frig out of all the yucky leftovers from thanksgiving and emptied the vacuum cleaner, I had to go thru the trash looking for my wayward bill - what a mess.... I about gagged. But did find it - but not in the trash!!
We did get our ele/gas bill today and is is just over double what it was last month. Oh dear!! I'm going to pay it and not tell DH - he will nag on me about the grow lights being on too much. Just wait until it gets bitter cold!!!
I still need to get more feed out for the birds...doing it now!!
I guess the one thing I can be thankful about concerning my apartment is that electricity, heat, water and satellite were included in the rent.
I got 2 Radon test kits yesterday. I want to be sure Radon (he never tested) is not present and contributing to my lung problems.
Sarv, proud of you and what you are eating, Mary is right, the less you it of that yukky stuff the better off you are, eventually you will not even want it.
Elaine, I just can see myself on the floor with Sampson, he would smother me with his weight, lol, remember when he pulled me down the stone wall? He would not let me get up jumping up and down on me.
How nice for your DW going to Las Vegas, Robert, a place I have never been to, perhaps some day, ;-)
Julie, thank you for the star fish story, it is what I would do and have done.
Been busy so far, chiropractor helped but pain is slowly coming back, going to have a massage Monday evening, can hardly wait .
Did some shopping at the mall, needed new sheets, getting them, nice ones that is, is like looking for a needle in a hay stack if you need them for a double bed, grrrr, every one seems to be for queen and king.
Also bought some indoor flood light bulbs, they are recessed in the ceiling, need a ladder to put them in but to my surprise the ones that burned out have been in there for 4 years.
Samson has been out of doors for quite a while by him self now, he is learning to be without me, but slowly. Before I leave, I put him in his crate, he runs right into it, he knows now there is a treat in store for him, so why fight it, LOL?
Hi again all,
sarv,
I didn't go get my buritto either,,,just had coffee. We're having Pork Chops,,,if that's any help. No outdoor decorations here either,,,I don't think so anyway.
darius,
Somehow it will all manage to get done.
bal,
My how time flies
Elaine,
Good luck at the dentist.
Mary,
Let's us not talk about empty calories while I'm sitting here stuffing my face with pizza for lunch,,,LOL Your winter walk sounds wonderful.
Well, didn't get my decorations up in the Salon, Had a couple unexpecteds come up,,,take Gran for her Flu shot,,,I got one too,,,always sick people coming into the Salon. Look at Gran's storm door, she couldn't get it open,,,told her to unlock it,,,LOL she said it was, went over there and I think prolly it was frozen, punched the thumb puser thingy in hard and it opened,,,Oy Vey,,,we'll see what Gran comes up with tomorrow,,, getting to be daily things now,,,well, almost daily.
Now it's time to get into the Salon,,,,,I Hate slow days,,,they don't pay the bill's.
Well, talk later
Kelly
Well Kelly, I need a haircut. Probably could afford it, just not the roundtrip airfare, LOL!
LOL,,,I could come out there, but I couldn't afford the air fare either,,,not to mention a couple days off work,,,cause if I was gonna come, I would definitely stay and help you pack,,,That good food sounds mighty tempting,,,LOL
Kelly
Hi everyone,
Just a quick check in. It's been my "day off". You know what that means - on the go all day. Actually skipped Aquafit because I stayed up too late working on my handbell binders. Worked on them some more this morning and dropped them off at the church this afternoon on the way back from Kindermusik. The music is all organized in a tentative order for the gig at the US Embassy next week. I added up the times and we appear to have enough - maybe even too much if I allow a bit of time in between. That means I can afford to drop a piece if it doesn't come together.
DD called this morning and wondered whether I could meet her bus as she was going home from work with a sore throat; so a bit of a detour on the way to pick up Gtwins. Had a call from the bus station - the four VS Golf snow tires on rims which other DD had in Vancouver and wasn't using have arrived (we shipped her a family Golf a couple of years ago and she wanted the tires. At the time we didn't have a car they would fit - now we do). Don't know when I'll get a chance to pick them up or whether I can fit all of them in my car at one time.
DH called from Frankfurt. They let him out of the hospital. He drove back to Frankfurt and is in a hotel near the airport and he'll be back tomorrow. Unfortunately, I won't be able to greet him as my rehearsal for Come Sing Messiah starts at 4:30 and he'll surely be asleep by the time I get in around 10:30.
Gotta go. The event at which they will play the viola I donated is at 5:30 and bells at 7:00 after that.
Ann
Marye puts me to shame the way she works. I feel like a sloth next to her....I did tidy up the spare room and it looks much better, did the dishes another load of laundry that the Laundry Monsters left in the hamper, and made marinara sauce for linguine tonight. Baking a batch of cookies DH got suckered into buying from someone at work whose kid is doing a school fund raiser. He said it looked like a better deal than the 6 oz. of chocolates for $15!!! They always pass the brochure to him, knowing he won't refuse.
Washed one window. LOL Not even a window, it's the sliding doors to the deck. I'm more tired from the procedure than I thought I would be. My sis called this morning and told me she was going golfing today, and again on Saturday. I told her "Oh, shut up!! She got the sweat shirt I sent her, the one that has Witch and Famous on it. She thought it was hysterical and can't wait for her kids to see it.
Oops, water's boiling, and tonight is Survivor etc. so I'll see you in the morning.
Hi y'all
I'm back from the dentist. Got a good report and have that over with for another 6 months. Yea!
Ann, I would soooo love to come to those concerts. You really know how to make a girl drool with all that talk. :) I'll just go over and visit your site again. LOL
Mary, the only time I've seen snow remotely like that was when I got my first guide dog. Was in Michigan for 1 month in Dec/Jan of '76/77. Now that was a *real* experience for this GA born and bred girl. LOL One of the common commands used is ... "Find the curb." Heck, I don't see how the dogs do that. Couldn't find the sidewalk in all that snow. LOL I did go on my first and only toboggan ride. What a treat!
Another thing I'll never forget has nothing to do with snow ... but sand. My brother once showed me footprints of deer in the wet sand at the beach. It was the prettiest thing I've ever seen, so I can just imagine what those in the snow must look like.
Okay, got to go stir the chili. It's a good night for it.
Hugs ... Elaine ride
Elaine, your snow experience was lots of fun to read, just can imagine your four legged friend wondering where the curb is.
M5, you should see my sliders, I have 3 ff them one is a tripple slider, well Samson is making such a mess out of the glass, since he is out of doors by him self, I have stopped washing them, now do it only once a day
Meant to tell you in my previous post but forgot, while at the mall and about to leave I was loaded down with purchases when a couple of bags slipped out of my hand, a nice young man helped me picking them up, he saw my boots and said, I like to see a woman wearing boots with 3" heels as he handed me my stuff, as I reached for them, he said and I also like long finger nails like yours with that pale pink polish. I started to laugh and said , young man, you don't miss a thing do you? He said, no I don't and I also like your charming accent, sheesh, I thanked him for helping me and walked away, now was that not a big surprise?
LOL, Maria! What a nice encounter.
As I started to think about it it was fun, made me feel young for a moment and thought of you, Darius, when you told me about wearing high heels ;-)
typo errors again

Maria,
How fun,,, I bet you felt that way, I know I would have,,,I would have been blushing and giggling like a silly school girl,,,LOL Very nice experience indeed.
Let me get this straight, you ONLY wash the sliders once per day now????? Heck, I am lucky if mine get washed once every 6 month's,,,LOL
Kelly
Kelly, I have windows usually washed, but now with Samson I washed them every time he messed them with his paws, now do it only once a day instead, like to see out of doors LOL
Maria,
That is too funny,,,I like to see out too,,,they get dirty slowly,,,so I think I can see fine out of them,,,, like I said I am lucky if mine get done once every six months.
Although I have to admit Mooshka isn't using her paws on mine,,,,she has a door with no window that she uses to go in and out. Maybe if she had mine all pawed up I would have to think about doing them ummmmm maybe once a week,,,LOL
Kelly
Maria, I know what you mean about the windows. I have two windows that my dog preferrs. I think I need a jackhammer sometimes to get the dog snot off of them. LOL
This weekend my friend and I are going to a Country Fold Art show. I havn't gone in a couple of years. Really looking forward to that. Best friend got a "real job" this year, so we don't spend as much time together as we used to. It will be nice shopping with her.
We are supposed to get some snow this weekend and maybe a good one on Monday. I think I'm ready for a little snow to make it feel more like Christmas, but not on Monday! We're having our Holiday lunch for work and I don't want it to be cancelled. It will also be the last day for one of our employees who is moving to FL.
Had to take my car back to the dealership tonight. It has been giving me trouble starting. Turn the key and nothing happens. I only got it in April!
Elaine, glad your dentist visit went well. I don't like them either.
MaryE, your walk sounds heavenly. I love walking in the snow.
Didn't mean to miss anyone. See ya all later.
Tomorrow's DAILY is UP in the Parking Lot.
(I'm going to bed early tonight. ;-))

HI everyone, I am so tired and having a hard time keeping my eyes open so I am not going to attempt to read the days posts.
My first day back was as expected. I am amazed that they were able to create such a mess in less then 8 months since the last officer left. I have my work cut out for me there. I put DG in for admission for me to use the site while at work. It usually takes a couple weeks so I will have to try and cram at night.
I hope all that are ill are feeling better soon, those that are feeling great continue on that path. Good thoughts and prayers to all.
Casey
Maria, I have kitty footprints and noses on my windows. Less mess than what Samson makes I'm sure, and I can't emagine washing them every day, even once a day! When we had 2 German Shepherds my sliding glass doors were always a mess, not only nose prints but whole body prints because they got muddy playing and then would sit next to the glass and lean against it.
susieq, the art show sounds like fun. It's nice that you get to spend some time with your friend. Hmmm, this must be the week for key and car problems, somebody else has a trunk that won't unlock. I can remember frozen door locks in southeast Alaska, we thawed them out with cigarette lighters, heat the key, insert in lock, repeat until the key worked. But that is a whole different problem. Southeast is a very wet and windy place and water gets into everything. And then freezes. Emergency brakes also freeze and are not so easy to thaw out. We spent 4 winters there (1997-1982) I don't miss the place a bit.
It snowed all day with low visability, sort of a fog with snow and wind, unpleasant, so no walk today. Late this afternoon when I went out to feed the animals it had changed to light rain and of course will freeze overnight, so the roads will be a slick and dangerous mess by morning. My DH came home early from work and said the freeway only had big trucks on it, no cars, and they were moving very slowly and carefully. It was snowing hard all day in town so they got a lot more than we did. We are always drier than town.
Sarv, you fell off the wagon! Maybe if you have some healthy snack things to put out with what your husband snacks on, you could at least have some of each. The beauty of things like apples, carrots and celery is that they take more calories to digest than they provide, and they will fill you up a little so there is less room for the high calorie stuff. Something to think about. Keep trying, tomorrow is a new day.
Elaine, could you actually see the deer footprints? I bet that toboggen ride was fun. Could be that is was good that you couldn't see if you were going too fast. The rest of us just close our eyes and hope for the best. When I was about 12 we had a husky dog I trained to pull a sled. He liked to go but was hard to stop, so I had some wild rides and sometimes would just have to steer the sled into a snowbank to get control. Other times he made unscheduled pit stops and almost got run over by the sled. Basically we did go where I wanted to go. One winter I broke my foot at school, but that didn't stop me from going dog sledding. I wore a couple of heavy wool socks over the cast and wrapped it in a plastic bag, and away I went on the sled, resting on my stomach with my feet sticking up behind me. I guess if it had been summer I would have been riding my horse with that bulky cast. Gee, that was a long time ago.
Goodnight everyone. I'm so sleepy and it isn't even 8 pm. Some nights I don't fight it, I just go to bed early.
Casey,
Glad to hear your first day went well,,,,,ummmmm well maybe isn't the word??? LOL Hope you get approval sooner than 2 weeks to add DG.
Mary,
OOOOOo, that's some weather there,,,hope your DH makes it o.k. in the morning if he can get going at all. Your sled rides sound like so much fun. When Mooshka was younger, we wanted to get her a harness and sled,,,never did. She Always has to be in front when we walk though. I guess it must be the breed instinct. Thank God for that 26' retractable leash. When we would go for walks with the 6' leash, she would nearly pull my shoulder out of the socket, she would pull so bad. She's older now (11) so she has mellowed Some,,,most of the time still acts like a puppy.
Well nitey nite to both of you,
Kelly
