GG, hush the other will hear you and you will be getting coal from yourself.
Coffee and... for Tuesday, Nov. 29 2005
Kelly,
No, God made sure that there was only one of me...he knew the world could not survive two......LOL
Molly stayed here last night so her move would be a little easier. I as so use to just posting, I never noticed that she had not signed off.
Now everyone believes this.....right?
ROFLMBO,,,,There's no hidin' from em,,,I'm tellin' ya,,,they seem to know everything
My Mom gave me coal one year. The year I moved up here, She thought I was partying too much so she made me an ornament. She took a piece of charcoal, wrapped it in Saran wrap, put a ribbon on it to hang it and wrote the date on it in marker. I still put it on my tree. LOL
Kelly
Hap,
Sure, we believe whatever you want us to,,,,LOL No really, I read something earlier about her staying there, just giving a little grief,,,,,just can't seem to help myself,,,hmmmm or the others ROFLMBO
Kelly
I already new about the others.......you're new so I thought I would pick on you, hehehehe
PS. And there are more than one personality in some. trust me......
Hap
PPS......The "Others" come out before coffee in the am.....LOL
101, my usual neat house is a cluttered mess with toys, chains, collar and leashes all over the place, it is like having a two year two legged little on around except I could tell the little one to put the toys away, but Samson could not care less as long as he has them to play with
Sarv, I cover the turkey with water add cut up in chunks onion, carot, celery, fresh parsley and two or three sprigs of thyme , one ot two bay leaves. pepper corn, kosher salt, two or three chicken cubes.
Bring to a boil, then simmer for about an hour, remove turkey take of what ever meat is left. stain soup discard vegetales etc. Put soup back in the pot, add more water, about 1 1/2 cup with1/2 cup of white wine bring to boil. Taste , you may want to add more salt and pepper and a can of low salt chicken broth. In seperate pot cook carrotts till tender. cook egg noodles or rice, peas ot beans, what ever you have on hand. Lastly ,add turkey meat.
PS, I do not have a recipe, it is just as I usually make it
Yep Maria, you're a Mommie again for sure now! LOL Sounds like my house. Hmmmm, I've been thinking ... if I can teach her to ring bells ... you think I could teach her to pick up her toys? hehehe
Hap, I've heard stories about multiple personalities you know LOL. Now the DH swears there's more than one of me, but that can't be right. ;)
Sarv, when you get that soup done be sure and put it on the counter. Maria made me hungry posting that. :)
What a day its been!. In a phone conference with FedEx almost all morning. Most of the time spent listening while they tried to figure out our problem. Oh well, only another hour to go!
l01 - Missed ya the last couple of days! Glad you had a good holdiay. It's so nice to spend time with family you don't see very often. I also had an aunt, cousin and cousin's fiance visit this weekend. We laughed until it hurt. Those are good times.
Sarv - do you ever eat a "normal" breakfast? LOL
Maria - Sounds like Sampson is one spoiled little boy, as he should be! Need more pictures!
Ive joined sarv for breakfast for a few days, just till the raspberry pie is gone - sorry, I did NOT put it on the counter, else how could I make it last for 4 days - 2 pieces a day! I even cut a few pieces in half again so I could make it last another day! Did I ever mention that raspberries are my favorite fruit? LOL!
ok, Susie, will post some soon, he is spoiled lol. There was a puddle out on the drive way would you belief he flopped himself right in the middle of it getting soaking wet, too bad I did not have the camera with me! Now this is just what my boys used to do jump smack ito the puddle, laughing like crazy as they splashed each other, never having had brothers, all these boys shenanigans used to be a mistery to me LOL
lot of typos, sorry had to edit

LOL, Maria... you will learn to carry the camera all the time!
Hap,
LOL I can handle it,,,but don't know if the others in my head can,,,,LOL And I do trust you that there are others,,,ROFLMBO
Kelly
Still haven't had time to READ this thread. Just taught 3 students. Have 2 more after dinner.
My turkey stock is much like Maria's except I cook it a LOT longer - like 5 or 6 hours before taking the bones out. I also add a couple of tablespoons of vinegar. It's not enough to taste and I've heard that it will leach calcium from the turkey bones and enrich the stock that way. (darius probably knows whether that's true or not). But we can all use more calcium in our diets.
More later.
Ann
Yes, Ann, it's true!
Y'all need to check out "Elaine's (IO1) Christmas Dream
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/559538/
Elaine, everyone needs a dream even if it never happens...
Well, I didn't get Maria post in time, so here's what I did. Cut up a bunch of celery and onions and tossed it in the crock pot with a tad of water . Cooked till tender, cut up turkey, and put in 4 cans of chicken broth, later on added 1/2 c rice and some carrots, topped off with some parsley - it tasted kinda salty. Oh well....we'll eat it no matter what. (rice is still crunchy, so we'll eat late tonight!!)
I saw the post about IO1 - count me in...
don't forget chat tonight!!!
Someitmes there is a lot of meat left on it, and if it had been in the refridge for 3 days I lke to boil it with the meat but take it off before it gets too dry, if I feel it did needs cooking some more without meat I cook it quite a bit longer
m5- last year I made the transition to an e-mailed greeting and putting our letter on our family web site for a large number of our friends. The cost of postage is finally getting to me. We were sending out about 100 cards - about a third each to the US, Canada, and overseas. It now costs me 85 cents to mail a letter to the US. Those overseas are over $1 and those within Canada are 50 cents plus 4 cents GST (Goods and Services Tax). If I send mail outside of Canada, I can avoid the GST if I send at least $5 worth at one time. (doesn't take long these days to get there). Then add in the cost of the card - probably at least 50 cents each and it's costing me a lot of money. I've decided to use that money for a charitable donation and use the electronic means where I can.
Several of you sounded as though you've had colonoscopies. Are they done routinely in the US or just when certain symptoms are present? I've not heard of many people undergoing them in Canada.
kooger, sounds as though you've had a really nasty storm. Hope you're out and about before too long. The paperwhites look good. I don't grow them as I can't stand the fragrance, but they sure are pretty.
Elaine, I'm the night owl in this family, but generally get shamed into going to bed at a reasonable hour when DH is home. But I wonder how they do it too. He's also out like a light as soon as his head hits the pillow while I might lie awake for up to an hour. It's better if I read a bit or work a good puzzle. OTOH, he sometimes wakes up early while I generally stay asleep until the alarm goes off - although I might get up to pee, glance at the clock and go back to bed (sleep).
MaryE - does your cat regularly visit the keyboard? I had one once who really liked to watch the cards cascade after I won at Solitaire (on an older computer where they don't move so fast). She was the cat of a lifetime who, sadly, became ill just around her 11th year and had to be put down a few months later (I'd already spent $1000 and finally drew the line as the medical procedures were stressing her out to the point that she began to pee on everything and it didn't really look as though we'd have a successful resolution). That was in march of 2001 and I can still get weepy thinking about her.
sarv - which site did you go to? NO pics of me (as far as I know) on the Viola Congress site. Sounds as if you somehow got to the Food Cupboard site.
Kelly - I'll check out the "what do you want from christmas" when I get reconnected. Am reading off-line so that I'll still be with you by Dec 16.
Talked to DH several times today. He's still in the hospital in Germany, but his temperature is down to normal and his blood work was OK. Sounds like they'll release him tomorrow and let him travel on Thursday so he'll drive back to Frankfurt that day and his flight which was supposed to be tomorrow has been rebooked for Friday. He'll be on antibiotics for a week or so. Sounds to me like it was probably good he was with his second cousin - a retired doctor who got him connected with medical treatment quickly. If he'd been home, he likely wouldn't have listened to me and if he'd gone on to Finland for his meetings before he got the infection, who knows how long he would have waited before seeking medical help. Now we just have to figure out what kind of payment the hospital will accept. Travel health insurance, of course, is back-pedalling furiously saying it was a pre-existing condition.
Gotta connect and send this and have dinner before the next two students.
Ann
Ann, reasons for having a colonoscopy varies. In my case, colon cancer got my grandmother so I'm in a high risk category. The first one showed up lots of polyps (but no cancer) so I now get to have one almost every year.
Hi again!
Couple of quick things I jotted down while trying to catch up on the threads...
1) Steamed veggies--I do mine in the microwave, I just lay them in a rectangular glass dish and add about a half inch of water to the bottom, cover with saran wrap and nuke for 2 or 3 minutes. I really like to do cauliflower this way.
2) My dh snores really bad too. About 10 years ago, he had surgery for a deviated septum and they also shaved his pallet down. He quit snoring for almost a whole year, unfortunately, he whistled instead. That just about drove me crazy (yeah yeah, short trip, lol). Would you believe I was actually GLAD when he started snoring again?
3) Bahamas sound heavenly, but without lottery intervention, I have no chance of ever affording a trip like that.
4) M5, almost 7 years ago I was having tremendous problems with my stomach. I have just about every test possible, got "scoped" from both ends, the Barium treatment, etc. Found out I had 2 problems, one was my gallbladder (not surgical) and the other problem was born May 11, 1999 and we named her JennaRose, lol.
I've been saving up my vertical time for chat so I'm heading over there now. I hope to catch you all there!
mg
Yes, Ann, my cat does visit my keyboard often. Mostly she sits between the computer tower and the monitor, then crosses the keyboard on her way to the kitchen. Sometimes she just sits down after she crosses it. Officially her name is Frigit (sort of a combination of a very cold stray cat and Bridgitt) but I just call her Sweetie Pie. Below is her picture when she curled up on the chair I had warmed. She is very quick to make herself at home in a pre-warmed chair.
My hubby called before I left for town telling me how slick the roads were. It snowed all the time I was gone and we got a couple more inches here. Small flakes don't make inches very fast. I checked the lucky number board at the discount store, didn't win anything this week, went to the thrift store to give them all the paper and plastic bags that have been piling up here and only bought some fish food for 35 cents, dropped off a bunch of cans and plastic bottles at the recycle center, returned cans and bottles for refunds at the grocery store, bought groceries, stopped at the vets office for worm medicine for the cats (I'm seeing telltale signs). And had lunch. Remembered the paper whites and amaryllis so went back to a store where I thought they would have them and sure enough, but I didn't want them enough to pay $4.99 for a kit of each, only 4 bulbs in the paperwhites and 1 amaryllis but they charge an arm and a leg for the pot and the peatmoss. So, I left without any.
I make my turkey soup by first boiling the bones and meat in enough water to cover the bones with salt and a few dried hot peppers and a couple of bay leaves. After a couple of hours I lift most of the bones out and pour the rest through a colander. Then I add onions, celery, parsley, carrots and sometimes rice to the liquid and cook them all in that for about an hour. Meanwhile I separate the meat from the bones, fat and skin. Often I make homemade noodles and cook them in the soup broth. I add the meat just before serving since I make a thick soup and don't want it to stick to the pan. The hot peppers don't make the soup hot since I usually only use about 3 per batch, they just add enough zip to make the soup not taste bland, and I take them out so somebody doesn't eat one by mistake, same with the bay leaves. I count the bay leaves and peppers so I know how many I need to find. My broth is tasty so I never add any bouillion or other flavoring agent. My husband bought me a couple of soup kettles, one is 16 qts and the other is 24 I think, so I make soup on a grand scale! Chicken soup is made the same way starting with a whole chicken which I cook in the pressure cooker and then proceed as above.
It's twilight and time to feed the horses and get dinner started. Have a good evening.
MaryE - so glad to know that someone besides me makes noodles! I just love 'em! I'm *sure* there are others - you're just the first one I've seen post it. (I need to check out the recipe forum -right?!)
Happy Hoildays to you and all!
Vio Ann - yes the pic was in the Food Cupboard place. I went all over!! Nosey aren' t I!!
Where I live the docs say you need the butt hose at age 50 - I waited several years (too scared to do it), but had to change docs when I retired and she would put up with none of my 'scared' tactics. I am scared of HER!! so I scheduled it!! LOL
Hey, I make noodles all the time. Fettucini Alfredo isn't the same with store-bought noodles!
So much to read and so little time.
Off to see DD tomorrow, am, early.....don't know if I'll get on-line for she is planning a big she-bang on Sat and I am the star chef.....
Please take care of yourselves.....kisses to all..........see you all next Tues., if not before.....
Hap
Nite George.
Ah darius, I knew someone would get in on that. All I do are plain egg noodles, but I would love to look into other types and expand my knowledge. Any hints that don't involve anything much fancier than a rollingpin? I'll follow you over to the recipe forum if you have something.
hap - am sure you'll be a shining star chef!
go for it sarv - we want you around for a long time.
Ann,
So glad to hear DH is doing well, Ewe,,,being sick overseas.
Kelly
tgf, I mostly make egg noodles.
Tomorrow's DAILY is UP in the Parking Lot.

Sorry folks...life got in the way of my online activities today. From the number of posts I see at the top of this page, it's going to take me a week to find out what you're all up to. And right now, I'm really hoping nothing horrible has taken place that I should have read before posting this.
~julie~
Julie,
No, it's wonderful,,,look at http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/558599/#new start reading about half way down,,,Elaine's post and then go to Elain's Christmas Dream in the Parking Lot
Kelly
I'm going to go to tomorrow and whine there .
Well I started posting, and was interrupted to let Mr. B. out. When I came back to the computer, the screen saver was on and I had lost my post. So I am not going to retype what I had already written. Except to say Gosh Dang computer, would kill it myself, but can't afford to. My printer died yesterday, and called Epson, and today I have a new printer. Ain't that nice? Everyone has been busy today, as have I. Our church is a small country church, and can't afford much in extras. So went to clean today, and spent 3 hours with a vacuum in my hand. And it is really hurting tonight. Will go back tomorrow sometime, and put up Christmas decorations.
I have kept up with the posts, read them all, and had planned on commenting on most, but alas time is wastin.
I discovered the post of What do you want from Christmas, and am so proud that many of you have offered to give money to make 101's Christmas dreams come true. Count me in, as I think she is a super wonderful person. This is what Christmas is all about. DH and I are getting a new TV for Christmas for both of us. We don't have many wants, and no "needs", so this is as good as anything.
Well off to bed, as I slept well last night, I hope that tonight will be as good. Arm is hurting, but am taking Tylenol PM, so hope that it works.
101, if there is any cheese cake left, please save it for me, as it is my absolute favorite. Any flavor. You could cover it with anything, and I would think that it was wonderful.
Night All. Sweet happy dreams to all of you.
defoe,
I Hate when I lose a post when it's already started. But,,,poor Mr. B,,,can't make him cross his legs,,,LOL,,,,,, I hope your arm is feeling better,,,,try not to overdo it on Wed.,,,,,,those darn puters and hardware poop out at the most inopportune times, glad you got a new printer so fast.
nitey nite and happy dreams for you also.
Kelly
Well, I'm up way past my bedtime tonight. Am fixing to turn in, though. To all those who had bad nights last night and couldn't sleep ... I hope you have a better one tonight. To those of you who are feeling poorly ... I hope tomorrow will be a better day. To all of you ... hugs and good night.
... Elaine
Nitey Nite Elaine,,,, good dreams to you
Kelly
Oh WOW!!! Thanks for the link Kelly!
~julie~
