Thanks Kelly...I took a little extra time after the news to look for some headphones to use on my new portable DVD/CD/MP3 player I got today. The headphones are supposed to help me get PAST my DH's snoring so I can get some sleep. HA! Like that's going to happen...that man snores to *make* himself go to sleep then *really* turns it on. Last week, I didn't get to sleep until after 5 in the morning. I got "Oh, Honey...I'm SO sorry!" Yeah right! LOL Like he even cares!

Anyway, tonight I'm going to go to sleep to 'Fantasia 2000'. :-D (Or maybe something with Loons and/or frogs...that *always* works!

SO...goodnight and/or good morning (Depending on when you read this!)

Hi Julie,

You bet. oooooo, I sure hope that helps. Terrible to try to get to sleep with such loud snoring. Me thinks that's why some couples have separate bedrooms,,,LOL

I now have my machine so I think that will help my snoring from the Apnea. It'll be nice to Not get the "Honey roll over" all night. LOL

Kelly

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Kelly...I just posted over in UMW Break thread. DH has apnea too...I'm not nearly as nice as "Honey, roll over" with him. I belt the c#ap out him then tell "Huh? What? I didn't feel anything." Or I'll purposely kick him and pretend it was an accident. (I told you I was nasty! LOL)

Good night!

~julie~

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Julie for heavens sakes get your own bedroom. I have been in my own bed for years and LOVE IT!! I keep my ty remote and my radio right in bed with me. I turn the lights on in the middle of the night and read if I want - can munch in bed too without being scolded for wayward crumbs. I do miss the talks we used to have during sleepless nights, but that's what vacations are for!! DH often still complains, but I tell him I will return to the big bed, but HE has to move when the snoring starts - not me. Shuts him up pronto!

Here I thought I would have a low key week. Tomorrow I have to drive to tim buck too to clean my stroke cousins house, then taking poor neice and kids out to lunch, then delivering stinky laundry to my aunt and lastly dropping off decon to my mom's house. On Thurs I am house sitting for DS again - Lazy Boy coming back to pick up their torn furniture. Makes me tired just thinking about it!

I"m hungry = gotta go see what I can eat....

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Just a quick good morning.
Hope you all have a good day.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Kooger are you completely snowed in yet? We had about 50* and high winds today, but the snow we got earlier last week is all gone. Don't send it up here!! Losing power is the worst, or having to drive in it with the idiots who forgot how since last winter.

No food for me today at all. Only clear liquids, so I've got coffee. This ain't gonna be easy! I did stoke up last night though with brownies, and you can help yourselves to what's left. I put pecans and chocolate chips in them, so they are nice and healthy. LOL

DH doesn't snore, but he says I do. Since it would take nothing less than a plane crash in the backyard to wake him up, I don't worry about it. He sleeps like a windmill though, legs arms sheets etc. all in a tangle. If he's gone, and I sleep alone, the bed is hardly rumpled! He denies that, of course, but often helps make the bed and there's no point of making an issue out of what he does when he's asleep!!!

If I tackle my Christmas cards today I won't have to think about food. Right?

Maria, I can't believe you won again!! We should all chip in and send you a big pile of money to buy tickets for us! I won $3 on a dollar scratch off once. Once!! I do have to admit though, I don't buy them often. We were supposed to get property tax relief from our lottery, but it's been over ten years and we haven't seen anything yet. Of course, it was Tommy Thompson who promised that, so I'm not surprised.

I'll check in later, but I think I'm going to try to keep myself occupied today so I don't think about . . . . f o o d

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

M5, are you having a medical test today? Is that why you're off your feed? My brother-in-law had severe snoring problems and slept off and on during the day. He was tested for sleep apnea and they found he sometimes went a full minute without breathing! He now wears a head-gear and is sleeping the whole night through without little cat-naps all day. My sister-in-law said his energy level is way up, too. Of course, he had to have an artery in his neck cleaned out too, so he is getting more blood and oxygen to his head and that helped him noticably too. Sometimes we put off small problems that are really bigger than we think they are. These problems can be limiting our lives or even endangering us. Julie, maybe your DH needs some help with the apnea.....?

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Good Morning! Unusually warm here today. They're calling for a high of 68. That better than 2 feet of snow I guess.

Kelly - I hope your machine worked well for you. Sounds like something a friend of mine has and he said it made a huge difference for him.

Sarv - You do have a busy week. Hope you have some "down time" in there somewhere.

Meezer - I'll take a brownie if there's any left. They sound yummi!

Has anyones DH ever snored so loud they woke themselves up? Mine did, LOL. He doesn't believe that was what woke him up though. He was in his recliner and the house was quiet, the only noise was coming from him. He can rattle the pictures off the walls.

Have a good day everyone!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Not today WS, tomorrow morning, ugh, colonoscopy, ugh, I don't care if Katy Couric had hers on national tv Ugh Ugh Ugh. Tonight I get to drink phoso soda and spend my evening on the porcelain throne. Ugh Sorry to be redundant. But Ugh!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

GardenGeek, yes DH's machine has a humidifier on it, that is supposed to be there for not drying nasal passages. My DH is a restless sleeper, and he claims he cannot use the machine, as he tosses and turns constantly. His snoring is so loud. One time I taped him snoring, and he denied that it was really him!! What more proof can you have.

Well have a busy day, so will get fanny in gear. Will probably check in at lunch, something Meezer can't have. It's not funny. After Christmas, I will be scheduling a colon thingy too.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Gooooood Moooooornin' Everyone,

I am Happy to report that I Don't have a headache this morning,,,,,yeehaa,,,,, I don't feel like I have been chewing on a dirty gym shoe all night,,,yeehaa. Tired yet, but it's still early. Have to see how I feel later today. Prolly one night of decent sleep isn't gonna make a huge difference. Hey,,,I think big,,,,,Like this morning I was supposed to be *magically* cured of All that ails me,,,LOL

I do feel that having something shoved up my nose all night my nostrils are now the size of the state of Texas,,,LOL I didn't get the *honey, roll over* All night. I'll have to see what the OC says when he comes home for lunch.

julie,
Poor OC of yours,,,,LOL

sarv,
I think I would love my own bedroom.

meezer,
U poor thing U,,,,give you lots of credit. Just hang in there,,,It's for our own good, How come every time someone says that it's about something nasty??? Good Luck tomorrow, my thought's will be with you. LMBO @ Plane crash to wake your DH up,,,,that's how my Mom is.

wood,
Mine first was a thought when my legs swelled until I felt like I was walking on tree stumps. My NP was worried about my heart so I went in and had *all those* tests. After the Echo, she suggested maybe this (my Pulmonary Veins are prominent) problem was due to sleep apnea. I was blown away,,,I would have never thought that would be it.

suzie,
LOL @ snoring waking him up. Glad to hear u have nice temps.

defoe,
oooooo, now I'm getting worried about dry Texas sized nasal passages. I'll have to keep some saline nasal spray handy,,,,thanks for the info. I'm surprised that he moved around so much while using the macine. It's supposed to help with that. LMBO@ taping him snoring and he Still doesn't believe it. I told OC that I was going to do that when he has been drinking, I swear, get a few beers in him and he is really obnoxious with his snoring.

Well, I better get my Texas sized rear in gear and get ready for work,,,YUK. Hope everyone has a good day.

Kelly

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Good AM to all....sorta am, anyway.......

Been LMBO about the "Tinsel Tush" furbabies....Had a poodle like that....I had the honors of course of "Un-plugging".

Maria, if we send you $ will you buy tickets for us? LOL

GG, glad you had a great night. My DS has the machine but has stopped using it....too much noise..He's 43 and snores like a trooper...I remember from when he was little. I didn't say anything about the noise earlier so as not to put ideas in your head....Glad it was a success.

ICE STORMS......how horrible. All keep safe, prayers coming your way.

Got a bunch of errands, so I better get started. See ya later

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Molly called last night from Hap's house. She still has tons to move (mostly plants) and expects to be "home" for good in Archer (FL) tomorrow or the next day.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hap,
The first thing Bill said is if it makes noise, your sleeping in the other room,,,,I held my tongue but wanted to tell him,,Nope, My house,,,you'll sleep in the other room. He's very sensitive about the house thing,,,but, hey,,,it Is my house,,LOL any way, we sleep with a fan on all night so he was just trying to pull my strings and get me going.

I was getting kind of worried that if it made too much noise I wouldn't be able to get any sleep. I have to say that when I got to the place to pick up the machine and the girl started going over it with me, I was pleasantly surprised that it is Quiet. I couldn't believe it. The only thing I heard when I turned it on was a Very faint hum.

Thanks for not mentioning the noise thing, I may have gotten my self wound up before even seeing the machine.

How long has DS had his machine? Maybe needs a different one that doesn't make much noise?

Kelly

Not totally snowed in, can't get my new car out tho - new to me! Gosh, so busy Sat and Sun I forgot the biggest news.... we traded the 94 Astro van for a silver 2003 PT Cruiser. YEAH!! We bought a cranberry one when they first came out, in '01 and then DH decided it wasn't good for IA winters and traded it off a year later.

I've never been particular about what gets me from point A to point B, as long as it gets me there, but I really loved that Cruiser! DH has always had a bit of a guilt complex about selling it so he's been keeping an eye out for another one. They really came down in price and this one was lowered cuz they had it on the lot over 3 months. So with the van trade-in at 2500.00, we paid 7500.00 for an '03 with 39K miles. Not bad, eh? I think DH said it books around 13K. I'm pleased!! (with the car and price!)

About the storm, it was a nasty. About 2 hours west of us they have 15-20 inches of snow and with the 50 mph winds, they have 6-8 ft drifts everywhere. Power crews are coming from about 4 other states to help with that issue. Talk is 2-3 days to get it restored. Wonder if that's soon enough to keep the water pipes from freezing? (Doesn't seem like very long when we hear about the hurricane victims waiting weeks and months for power. I guess the added problem of freezing temps gets them in a hurry to get the power back on. And there's not near as many people on the plains.)

Been trying to get ahold of the drs office. MIL's blood work wasn't good, apparently. She had a test last Tues. to check to make sure her hemoglobin level was coming back up, meaning she was replacing the blood that she lost in the bad nosebleed 3 weeks ago. So we're playing phone tag. Even tried the nurse at home but didn't catch her there either. Maybe I'll try the doc at home - hate to do that but need to know what he wants me to do for/with her.

Finally painting bedroom walls today. Be really glad to get the furniture moved back in. :)

And here's what I tried for fun last week. I'm getting the biggest kick out watching these paper whites grow. (for IO1 - saw it in a magazine, set bulbs on old pint milk jars full of water and watch them grow!) Most have roots up to an inch long already, and green tops up to 2 inches high, in a week!! One has started growing with just a tip of green, but no roots - not sure it will make it.

Kelly, I think he got it a couple of years ago. I will be going up after Christmas and will talk to him about it. When he talked about heart attack vs machine....I didn't think it was such a big choice, but it's his life.....

Morning all
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but with the holidays I've been really busy. My aunt and cousin came for a wonderful visit after TG. Hadn't seen them in 6 years. We had such a lovely time. Of course, on TG I had the in-laws over. That was also a very nice day ... very relaxing and all around good day for counting one's many blessings.

Julie, here's hoping you got a good night's sleep last night. That player sounds just like the ticket to me. LOL I have a talking book player which comes from the Library for the Blind (in case someone knows someone who is interested that isn't aware of the service). The tape player sits by my bed, and I read at night until I fall asleep.

Kelly
Hope you get along good with your machine. I know a guy who has sleep apnea, and it's a real challange for him. Good luck!

sarv
I've threatened my DH with separate bedrooms as he's a night owl and while I don't go to bed extremely early ... he always wakes me up when he comes to bed. After all these years of it ... I automatically wake up around 1:00 or 1:30. He crawls in bed and falls asleep the minute his head hits the pillow. I'm there struggling to go back to sleep. How can they do that? LOL Will someone please explain it to me?

meezer, I'll be saying special prayers for you with those tests. I agree with you ... yuck yuck! I've never had one. Told the DH they'll have to catch me first. LOL Good luck with those Christmas cards. Let me know if it keeps your mind off "F O O D" as I ate way too much over TG and have gained a couple of lbs I'm knot fond of. Maybe that would help? hehehe

woodspirit, am glad they found out what was wrong with your brother-in-law.

Darius, thanks for letting us hear from Molly. Hope you get good test results.

Hap, good to hear from you.

Hello to you Ann, Suzie, Defoe, and anyone else I've missed. Hope y'all have a blessed day today.
There's a fresh pot of coffee along with a wonderful cranberry bread and an ooooh so fattening cheese cake on the counter if anyone's so inclined. Y'all have a wonderful day.
Hugs ... Elaine

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hap,
They must have made some big improvements in the last couple of years, which is wonderful. That's why I am so determined to get used to it as quickly as possible. SO Many health porblems are caused by Apnea. I don't mind if I have to meet my Maker, I'm ready for that any time, but with my luck I'd be one that would have all kinds of problems.

Would be great if he will listen to you and get a new machine. I'll be praying for you, that he listens. Some of us *kids* have a hard time doing that,,,LOL

kooger,
oooo, terrible storm, hope everything gets taken care of quickly. Also hope you can catch up with the Dr. Good Luck with the painting, I need to do my bedroom too,,,maybe later in the winter. The bulbs look great, keep us posted as to how they're doing.

Kelly

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Kooger....what a storm....are you really OK?

kooger, thanks for the discriptive post! :) Ooooh, your new wheels sound wonderful!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

yup, a-ok here! Still dealing with a nasty cold wind which is supposed to go down by 9 am - missed that, didn't they? I'm holding off on painting or else putting the heater in the room. Last house in NW corner of town and bedroom is on the west wall so it's COLD in there!

If you're a-praying, you could add those folks west of us, it is awful out there, worst is centered around Mitchell and Huron, SD. Over an inch of ice, then 20 inches of snow, no power, etc. bad scene! Interstate 29 is opening soon, at 10:30, but only half of I-90 will open then. Heard on the news that NE and ND are having major problems too and now it's over northern 2/3 of MN but haven't heard if it's losing it's punch.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. 2nd try on this today, the cat walked across the keyboard and the first one is history. LOL, she is so sweet, cute, fuzzy and purrs, so what can I do?

Ice storm, ugh, what a mess. Thankfully we almost never get them, I can only remember one in 12 years that we have lived here. Before that, yes, and it's one of the things I don't miss about a couple of other places. I hope the power company gets the lines repaired quickly.

Snoring husband, yes, I have one of those. The older he gets the worse he snores. He snores worse on his back and one side so I poke him to roll over and then I can get some sleep. He probably also has sleep apnea, has an irregular breathing pattern and quits for the space of a breath or two, then takes a couple of really big ones to catch up, two or three normal ones, one or two small ones and stops again. When I wake up it is hard to get back to sleep with all of that. I used to wonder why older couples often had separate bedrooms and now I know.

Hurray for Molly, she is on the home stretch! Go Molly Go! Sorry, I can't help more than that except to pray that things go smoothly.

Darius, I hope your appointment gives you good news.

Paperwhites are fun. I did a few for the first time last year. Maybe the store will still have some? I'll look today when I go to do errands, get groceries and have Chinese lunch with my hubby. I had a cute little bucket that I filled with rocks and water, then just put the bulbs on top and let the roots go into the rocks. After they bloomed they stayed green for a while and then I let them go to sleep and planted them in a flower bed this fall. Hope they will wake up in the spring. I put them near the back door (the one we use all the time) so I will be sure to see them if they have survived.

LOL at the tinsel hiney'd pets. Too bad that what poor little Jenny ate didn't pass so easily. I sure had to laugh at the picture Ernie posted of the pup who had been digging and had dirty nose and paws. Same pup I think? Happy and tired anyhow and hopefulld didn't dig up anything he wanted to keep.

Robert, I did go back and find the photo of your carving, oh my oh my, what a great work of art!!

Maria won $$ again!! You are on a lucky streak for sure.

Babs, I also want to thank you emergency people for being there in the wee hours, holidays, etc. My DH is a retired police officer so I understand the hours, days, nights when you are working and everybody else is going on with their lives. You make the best of it, move your holiday celebrations (in your case took it with you) while your hubby is half way around the world doing his part to make sure the rest of the world stays safe. Thank you both.

Kelly, I'm glad the machine helped you get a good night's sleep. As you get a few more of them your energy level will surely get better. No headache to greet you this morning, ahhhh, what a relief!!

We have snow again, more in the forecast for the next few days and nights, all accompanied by wind. I'd better transfer all the stuff out of the 2 wheel drive pickup into the 4wd for my trip to town. Better stability on slick roads with all 4 in drive, plus it is a heavier truck with better visability. Longer though so not so easy to find places to park it, but it is a crew cab so I have extra inside space for things that need to stay dry, hidden or out of the wind. It's the one I pull my trailer with during my ride season.

Yesterday afternoon I bundled up and got the things collected to make a base for the windmill, then moved some rocks to the new flower bed with the tractor. One rock is so heavy I could barely roll it over into the bucket! I'm glad I did that yesterday, it was a nicer day than today is going to be. Saturday I will get my hubby to help me put the windmill base together and carry the thing out of the shop and get it placed and anchored. I hope I can still move some dirt by then. I did save a place to put it when I spread the dirt around the other parts of the bed. I can always resort to useing the tractor bucket again and get more dirt off the big pile in the pasture.

Time for me to get moving. Everybody have a good day and remember to be thankful. We have so much and sometimes appreciate it so little.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

kooger,
I will be sure to say a little extra for all those out your way that are having problems due to the storm.

Mary,
I sure hope my energy level goes up, I'm thinking that it Has too,,,couldn't get any lower,,,,LOL Good luck with your project. Sounds like a doosie. Hope you can get lots done today. I agree, we do have much to be thankful for and sadly do tend to take it for granted.

Kelly

M5- is this your first 'hose' test? I had one last year or the year before (time flies...) Anyhow it was a piece of cake - just drinking that gallon of 'poop juice' was the worse part for me. I got it all down but a cup full, but it took me 6 hours!! They didn't give me enough of the knock out juice and I was awake hollaring 'I can see what you're doing" The nurse finally told me to close my eyes and shut up!! LOL They found and removed two polyps, and they were precancerous, so guess it was good I had it done.

Back from shopping- went ALL over -had a good time! AND I didn't even stop for my Wendy burger. Came home and had a yogurt! Aren't I a good girl!!

We are having strong winds today and it keeps blowing out our water heater - grrr light, blow out, light, blow out etc. over and over...

I need to find a recipe for turkey soup - or else the turkey is going in the dump... Take care

Seems like I've missed quite a lot over the past few days that I haven't posted. I've tried to catch up ... but y'all are a chatty buntch and I'd be here all day. I did skim over it enough to notice we have a wood carver in the bunch. LOL How wonderful it must be to have the ability to do such remarkable work with your own hands.

Maria, are you going to share your $$ with Samson? :)

For those who work on holidays or have DH's who do ... my sincere thanks go out to you. I too am aware of how these things can affect your family time as my DH works with 911 and has been called out due to equipment failure. This just goes with the territory, but it's not a usual thing for us.

I'd like to ask everyone to be sure and remember our men overseas during the holidays. I have a good friend in Iraq who is there for his second Christmas. He did get to come home for a year en between. I'd like to say thanks to all those I'm not aware of.
... Elaine

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

yes, 101, bought Samson lots of toys!!

Sarv, I make turkey soup same way as chicken soup,

Nice weather here in Massachusetts, 63' with intermittant sunshinee

Yea Samson! :) hehehe

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sarv.....the turkey is getting a little old. Making soup will no make it younger. Watch out for Montezuma's Revenge if you make the soup.....

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Boil that bird well and it should be ok. :)

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

And just to be on the safe side I think having a few Margaritas while eating that turkey soup would do well to kill whatever may not have been when boiling the heck out of it.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I had a turkey sandwich for breakfast and am fine so I think the soup will be ok. Then it will all be done.

Maria=- tell me how you make your soup....I cannot get them to come out tasty - just watery.

I have two of Mike's cranberry lemonade's left- gonna finish them off tonight too LOL Had one last night and slept like a baby...

Awaiting 3 in of snow tonight...ugh

Hi there,

I will go back and read the messages later. Just got in from 4 hours at the Food Cupboard (after Aquafit) and have students in about half an hour.

I would appreciate opinions. You can D-mail them to me if you don't want to fill up this thread with responses. I'm loosely involved with the organization of the International Viola Congress which will be held in Montreal in June. I say loosely, because with the complications of two languages and another province, they've decided to do registration at the university. (Initially, I was planning to handle the registration process as I did for the 1999 Congress). I heave a great sigh of relief. Yippee, I'll get to enjoy the Congress. They want me to help with sponsors, but they are doing that now and I've told them I'll have lots of time to help after I retire, but not before.

But I've had ongoing discussions with them about the web site. I find it hard to get around on it and slow to download. They seem to think everyone in the world has high-speed access. Would some of you take a look and tell me what you think about the site please?

http://www.violacongress2006.ca

Maybe I'm just being ornery in my old age.

Thanks,
Ann

sarv - I always add a good spoonful of chicken boullion paste (Sam's club) or use the cubes to punch up the watery flavour.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Vio Ann- went there and it was slow going for me!! I visited most parts of it - loved the pics the most (and I saw you!!) Food cupboards are so important - we have several in the area here...

Starkville, MS

Ann - I'm dial-up - and yes, its pretty slow. If someone was interested and had plenty of time, its worth waiting on, but I'm afraid some would be put off by the load time. Good luck getting anyone to tone it down for dial up!

ginni

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Ann,
Went in a poked around a little,,,however I have cable so my download times were fine. Although I have to say that I can see where dial-up would take some time with the amount of stuff on each page, the background, the links, all take lots of time to download and would definitely be long for people with dial-up.

Just thought I'd add my .02 cents from a cable standpoint,,,having switched not long ago from dial-up.
