image troubles on DG

Is anyone else finding that when they click on an image on DG to enlarge it, that when the page for the enlargement comes up, no image appears? Is there something I could be doing differently? Thanking in advance for any help. karen

Nope, Karen. It's working fine for me. May be a glitch or it may be something in your settings. Someone more saavy than me should show up soon.

I can't view a larger image, this just started yesterday. I haven't changed any settings so was wondering if anyone has an idea what I should do.

hi, just on the odd occasion the image will go behind the page, so try minimising the page and see if it's there.

Alternatively do you have much space on your computer? If not, it can become clogged with temporary files and cookies used to view things more quickly, your computer makes one for easy access every time. I have a new computer which warns you and does it automatically, or can be done. There is a 'history' where temporary files can be deleted, or set the computer to save files for a shorter period.

If you have an older computer, on the 'start' menu, go to 'programmes', then 'accessories', then 'tools'. You can run the 'scandisk' to clean up your computer harddrive, also another a 'defragmenter' though can't remember if it's called that, it sort of pushes together all the spread out info to stop any glitches. There is also a 'windoctor' if someone has a copy, a CD which you insert to do a computer clean up.

Also if you look in the control panel and 'add or remove programmes' some can be removed that you don't use to make more space. believe me, it can make a huge difference. I had one with a total of less than 800mb, that is less than 1GB (present one has 160GB) and that was the WHOLE computer, available total useable space was about 240Mb, once printer, internet etc added, then only around 110Mb to use, which decreased very easily. i had at one point less than 1Mb (1/1000 of a GB), the computer shut down the internet and told me to clean up some space! I'm surprised it worked at all. Could only put around 5 pictures in the picture file, then had to take some out, take things out of the windows files etc.

If you don't have an old one with little space, then this may be useful to someone who does.

To anyone at my very low level of Computereeze, the words "settings" and "history" used earlier in this thread are very useful to explore:

Click on the Help button in your Tool Bar at the top of your web page. Then click on the "Contents and Index" tab. In the Search Box at the top, type in these words one at a time and hit enter. This will give you explicit instructions on how to keep your computer space unclogged as well as many other tips for using ol' 'puter and delaying a trip to the computer repair shop.

So, to get images to come up on DG, I have discovered the Tools Button up there on the Tool Bar. Click on that. And then click on Popup Blocker. You can then turn the Popup Blocker on or off.

I still have to wait quite a while for the image to appear. Perhaps it's because I haven't fooled with the popup blocker on the second tool bar I keep up there: http://us.altavista.com/web/tools
(Or because my Norton Security feature is doing a virus scan?). Anyhoo, am glad to have this feature working again.

I really like having Altavista's tool bar up there, because I find it so handy to be able to click on its Translate Button.
