Harp chairs! The center piece is bootiful.....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

That's GORGEOUS, magoobu!!!! Ask them to come over and do my table next.

Starkville, MS

The centerpiece is beautiful, and perfectly complimented with that china and stemware. What pattern is the china? I love it! Can you post a full pic of a plate? It would be a real treat to sit and enjoy good fellowship and food at that table.

I haven't done any decorating for this Thanksgiving, but if I can get everything together tomorrow in time, I'll post a pic of the table. First, I have to get all the stuff together. Some of the china is still at the "north farm" in storage - I so seldom use it, I don't keep it very handy.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi magoobu-- beautiful 'adult' table--perfect linens, sterling, and lovely china--such a romantic Thanksgiving Dinner-- watch you may have crashers from DG!

And cute cute cute kiddie table! Love the little foxes and the china bovine (?) centerpiece.

Everyone should be so lucky to get an invitation to your feast!

Will have to wait to post my decorations--my son took my digi cam on a trip this week so I am out of commission--but I fashioned a couple of bouquets from (Kroger) flowers combined with red grapes, pine cones, spanish satsumas, green apples (on wooden skewers) , and berries... a new combination for me, but (of course) copied from the magazines...

We are not doing TG dinner but we have a housefull of out of town guests and some snow to add extra charm to our holiday weekend.

I wish everybody would post some pics! I would love to get some new ideas....

Happy TG.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

Happy TG to you as well --- yes I was hoping -- along with my Mother that more would post their tables and get some fun ideas for centerpieces. Maybe I will keep it going for Christmas and see if more do that kind of decorating!!!

Your arrangement sounds out of this world!!!!

Starkville, MS

Love that china. Johnson Bros have some wonderful patterns. I have a 12 place setting of Blue Willow plus serving pieces. Its great for most occasions, but that Wild Turkey is *so* beautiful.

Okay, ya got me, now I *gotta* do something for the table! I have spent most of the afternoon gathering "things" together. I am *so* surprised at what all I had tucked away here and there! I think it will turn out to be right respectable! I have plenty of stuff for Christmas - just never put all the Autumn/Thanksgiving things together before. What a rush!

Thanks for the boot in the imagination! I'll try to get a pic posted tomorrow.

I will use the Blue Willow for Christmas, with red, and green all around. But for Thanksgiving, I really wanted the earthtone colors. I can't wait to see how it turns out! Lets see - gold damask tablecloth, "antique white" china, green stemware, pewter finish flatware, and the napkins (orange/tan/brown/green/turkey pattern) that my SIL made, yeah, I think it will work! This is really fun! I love these colors - why haven't I tripped on this time to use them before now?!

I'll be here for Christmas, too!

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

YEAH way to go TGIF we got ourselves a holiday decorating thread!!!!!
I am all over it!

That sounds great you are very creative!
I need pictures to go from start shooting LOL"

Just a bit off the blu for Thanksgiving LOL

magaboo--- if you don't mind, I'll add the link to my pre-thanksgiving centerpiece thread --

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/557155/

not our 'official' TG centerpiece just a fun decoration for the fall table-- a little round-up of punkins, pinecones and berries and my tureen (that I never use for soup that I found in the basement...

It is amazing all the fall themed 'finds' you can come up with around the house...with a sharp 'eye' out!

I like Christmas, but, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

me either why do you think I started this thread LOL LOL LOL

These are all so beautiful they put our spread to shame. My grandma always used her pewter service and hobnail milkglass goblets for holidays. I really miss that. Howie's family was so large, they early on adopted a buffet style thing at holidays and kept things very simple -- paper plates and find yourself a place to sit (and don't get up or it might be gone when you come back!).

This year, though, we borrowed a table from his mom's church and put it end-to-end with our little dining room table. We were expecting 14 adults, but only 12 ended up eating here with us. I didn't have any tablecloths large enough for the banquet table, so we kind of improvised by putting two gold cloths down on the ends with a red cloth in the middle to cover the gap.

My centerpieces went by the wayside as we loaded the empty spots with pots of steaming mashed potatoes and stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry-orange relish, rolls, and -- of course! -- turkey. It was SO nice having everyone seated at one table and talking, even if all our plates, flatware and glasses didn't match (let alone the chairs!).

Here's a long shot with my dad at the end. He's sitting, so where's the food already?? ;)

P.S. We put the tree up earlier than usual because some of the family who came here never come at Christmastime and don't get to see our house decorated. Normally we put it up the day after Thanksgiving.

I don't see how you can call it "putting your spread to shame". It's beautiful, the gold and red offsetting the deep green wall color, and the tree with its ornaments echoing the colors, even the wallborder echoes it! I think it's lovely!!

This is a great thread, I love planning the table and food for the holidays. Mags, your turkey dishes are awesome. And that centerpiece, beautiful. I really don't have any fancy dishes but I do have a whole bunch of just plain white corelle. And it really is versatile. I do have some Christmas corelle with the holly border and I really enjoy using that for more than just Christmas day. For thanksgiving I went to Walmart and found some cream colored tablecloths and used a long deep reddish orange ribbon down the table with a floral arrangement of orange roses, greens, and orange rose hips. My dd made the arrangement and we splurged on the roses. Sometimes there are these little road side vendors of roses and they were $10/more than I will usually spend but we had a special group of people here.I hung a candle chandelier above the table. There are 8 candles in the chandelier and they were cream color too. I wove a silk fall leaf garland through it. I was amazed at the lighting of that candle chandelier. We found it at Big Lots a few years ago for 20 bucks. Just love it. I had some pretty fall leaved paper napkins(Walmart too). Keep your eyes on Dollar General for all kinds of fun things for place holders etc.

Christmas centerpieces in the making. By the time I'm ready to get serious about the fine points, these should be perfect! ( I hope! )

I don't even have a dining room.. and our table is aalways covered with DH's STUFF. Here is how our table looked when company came for dinner Saturday night.

Note: this is after massive crisis cleaning!

We eat on tv trays in the "den" which was intended to be the dining room.

I'll post some when I get to FL and my sister and I start on Christmas. I love to set a fine table!

For Thanksgiving (since we were busy packing my stuff and just 2 of us anyway) we "set" the coffee table but at least had my "good" china (just gold-rimmed Mikasa), crystal goblets and family silver (plate). Sorry I didn't take a photo, it looked nice... considering!

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

Sounds wonderful Darius!!!!!!

this is the stocking I needlepointed for my son 5 years ago I love it took 6 months to do but it was well worth it! will last a lifetime!!

Thumbnail by magoobu

magoo, that should last several life times. It is beautiful. I hope it gets past down through many generations! I love the string of stockings too, but I'm not real sure the experssion on poochila's face could be described as an "I love my hat!" look.
ginni

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

tgif!!!! LOL LOL
That is my bear footstool and Skillet keeps stealing that hat off his head LOL.

The string of stockings is an advent calendar of sorts. My son's "Elf" watching him for good or naughty list will leave a treat in the one for that day if Henry has been a good boy!!! It is fun too.

Mags, great stocking!

Next year, my sister and I are going to market some exquisite silk velvet Christmas stockings. (When is the last time you saw SILK velvet?) I have a few pieces from my fabric collection but they went south yesterday with my sister (on a roll, NOT folded) or I'd post some photos.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

magoobu--

really neat needlepoint stocking...so beautiful!

gardenwife, your (improvised) dining table is lovely. You were so clever with the table cloths. They look nice that way.

I am slowly bringing out a few things 'Christmas'...will have some pics in a few days when we get rolling on it. We did set out our creche and hung a few wreaths today.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Just for the winter, t. Will spend time with my sister, and lots of time with MollyMc helping construct some outbuildings at her new place. I plan to be back to NC by May.
