My email and snail mail addresses have changed.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

For anyone that missed my *big move*, I have moved to a new house about an hour from the other. If I have not answered your email or you sent something without my knowing it was on the way and haven't heard from me, this is why. :) If you need either, please let me know. If you need a 3 BR ranch in Cincinnati, let me know that too. ROTFLOL

Sent ya an E.

Also just occured to me that my cell phone number changed in September and my new home phone number is obviously different. If you are one of those people that call me, you don't have my number. LOL

I just now realized how weird it looks when you see a different city under your name. LOL

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL that does look wierd dosnt it, LOL. But its a good weird, a whole great big new place of your own thats big enough to dig all the holes ya want.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Yeah, I've been looking at Cinci under your name almost as long as I've been here...looks odd to me too.

Congrats on the new place! I know how long that you've wanted some ground!

Thanks Melody! It's bad! Really bad! Now that I am here, I am eyeballing the land behind and beside me. ROTFLOL

Oh, I hear you are really awesome at identifying trees. Wanna help me come spring?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Sure! Sometimes the bark and the actual bare buds are a way of identifying trees too. Also, the new growth in early spring...so lets get together as soon as you're where you can. (like you've got tons of time on your hands at the moment)

I can pretty much list the 'usual suspects' and there'll only be a few that are different. Your trees are like my trees with only a few exceptions...I'll have a few of the 'deep south' river trees because of how close I am to the MS River...but otherwise...they're pretty much from the same old forest.

Thank you!

When Mystic was here right before we bought the house, we walked down one of the tree lines and saw many leaves that were familiar but we couldn't quite put our finger on the type. I obviously have some oak trees and some maples and some others. I figure with tree borders on three sides of the property, I might have some nice surprises.

The tree lines also include poison ivy and a bunch of ditch lilies. :) I have also noted wild roses (now covered with tiny red hips) in many spots as well as Impatien capensis and some other wildflowers. It will be very interesting to see what pops up come spring. I'll have to clear a lot of the weedy stuff to put in new fencing.

We have already found a tiny black dainty slippery frog of some sort and also realized we have some really bad wet spots that spit up crawdads after rain. LOL

When I can get out, I'd like to find some books on natives. I so love research! :) I hear that our local library is really nice and has a great selection. I will soon find out.

I'll find time to chat with you or post pictures and/or both. I am eager to learn all I can about my new land.

check out my PF images...I've been working on natives...(plants/weeds/flowers, for a couple of years now...so many of these were just in overgrown fencerows and if you're not actually looking for them, they are easy to overlook.....Venus' Looking-glass for example

Tiny little flowers about the size of my little fingernail. Some folks say invasive, but I've never seen more than a dozen plants in one spot...and they are so pretty.

As far as oaks....there's tons of cultivars...and some will cross with each other, creating hybrids.....I've done a lot of work with oaks too...I've got some good images to use for ID.

Good reference books that are easy to use are the National Audubon Society Field Guides...there's one for everything...even insects! I've got a pile of them, and they really help.
