"show the previous page" problem

For some reason of late my 'back clicker' doesn't seem to work right. When reading a thread and then clicking on a photo the photo enlarges as usual. The problem arises when I hit the 'back' arrow to return to the post which contained the photo. Instead of going back to that post it goes back to the beginning of the thread. As an example: Parking Lot; Coffee and..... for 11/20, post by Meezersfive @ 5:51. Clicked on the photo then the back arrow, but instead of going to her post as normally it would, it went back to the start at Julie88's 11/19 7:18 post minus the 9 most recent posts. This has occurred many times on other topics as well. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, I don't know. Hopefully my explanation isn't too confusing.

Your Browser reverts back to an older version of the page, to resolve this clear your cache file.
In IE 6 click on "Tools", "Internet Options", under "General" tab click on "Delete Files" in the "Temporary Internet Files" section, confirm on the pop up window you get and then click OK.

cleared the cache files, though the iMac is somewhat different. The problem is still happening, but not on all forums. I haven't been able to find a common denominator and my powers of cyber-reasoning are nonexistent. Is there something obvious I'm missing ? or is it just those meddlesome gremlins ?
