First, I'm the Newbie,,,so I really don't know many people in the thread yet. Second, I was kind of busy in the Salon,,,so couldn't check in that often.

Hope to be able to get to know everyone and be able to keep up real quick like,,,LOL

It's Thursday! It's the 17th! It's the beginning of a new Internet month for me. No more fears of running out of time as long as I don't yak too much at the beginning of this month.

I gotta go to bed. DH took off on a trip and isn't around to shame me into going to bed at a decent hour. But if I want to go to aquafit before 9 am, I better say good night all.

Ann

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Can't find Jenn, Ernie, for all the toys about her, lol

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good Morning!! A few schools closed today, but not as many as yesterday. DH woke up grouching at me- I tell ya, he really wants to get into a fight with me....I think things are going badly at work and he tends to bring home the problems.

Geek - wait a minuite. I only have a shampoo and rinse with my nioxin. Am I missing something? I do use both of those faithfully. Give me a hand here....

McCool, I have a HFGH too and love it!!. We put it on a 2x12 foundation which was anchored to the ground and then attached the greenhouse to that. We've had some pretty tremendous winds here and things are fine IF I remember to lock the door shut. With it open, panels fly out!! We've had three bouts of 50 plus mile winds and it is still standing.

Just eating left over meat loaf - yum. I used onion powder instead of onions and I like it much better! DGS won't touch onions, so I had to hide them!!

Off later to the huff and puff place. Weather girl just said we had 5 in of snow yesterday with heavy snow coming today - oh glory....

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Good Morning GOBS and 'ETTES!!

Everyone remember chat this morning?

I'll BBL.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

oh thanks mg- how could I have forgotten!!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Dang good question sarv!

I'm lonely in there today!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

SARV!!! you coming or not???

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, I am up, had breakfast, read the paper, and now am on my way to start cleaning house. I am putting on a pot of chili, so, help yourself. It will be on the stove simmering, bowls are in the cabinet above the stove, everything else is on the counter. It is a chilly morning here, but the sun is shining. Will go to DM later to help do some chores there. DH invited his cousin tonight for fish, so will have to prep some stuff for that.
I will check in from time to time today, hope it is not as busy as it was yesterday.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Well I had my beauty sleep, looked in the mirror this morning, and it didn't work! Dang.

We've got bright sunshine but snow covered ground. Very cold out. DH got the yard stuff hauled in just in time. Heard a lot of racket in the yard in the afternoon while a good amount of snow was coming down....looked out and saw the lawn service guy spreading something!!! Probably late fertilizer....he waved, I waved back, and walked away wondering if they are crazy. They won't get paid more for this last appliction of whatever, they give us a flat rate for the season. Oh well..........

Did you all see Ernie's pic of Jenny sleeping with the stuffed toys on Wednesday's thread? Isn't she the cutest thing!!! Golden puppies just make you want to pick them up and smooch them.

No big plans for today, except to not go outside! Brrrr. Might have to make a run to the PO, but that's a quick trip and only a few steps out in the arctic breeze. This should finish off anything left in the garden that's still green. Still don't have all my bulbs in!!! We'll get a fairly decent day when I can go finish them up....crossing my fingers...

Yes, Sarv, I think your DH is bringing home his work troubles. Guys have a hard time expressing what is really wrong and usually take it out on the wrong person. He might feel better if you weren't available for your MIL's trips, since that might seem to him to be disloyal. Let her children pick up the slack. You are so kind and helpful to a person who doesn't seem to appreciate it, and I know it's hard for you to say no, but let's face it, she doesn't seem to care a hoot about how you are going to survive without his income. OK off my soapbox.
LOL about the onions, my DS never liked onions so I got good at disguising them so he couldn't pick them out. Pureed them in the blender ...His DW says he still doesn't like them but even admitted he doesn't know why because he will eat onion rings!

DGS's wife called last night and invited us for Thanksgiving. Hooray! I can just throw together a punkin pie and enjoy the turkey!
His cell phone has been sitting on our kitchen counter since he borrowed DH's truck a month ago. He apparently doesn't need it, but she's getting disgusted because now he calls her on a land line to her cell phone and it's long distance because they set them up when they were living in VA. I told her DH only uses his when he's off on a road trip and then he talks to me more than he does when he's home!! Sometimes I don't even pick up when he's on the road because I don't need to pay to listen to him complain about how "Cooter" wanted too much for the car parts or they weren't as good as he was told... If it's an emergency, he can leave a message and I can call him back!!

Back is much better, thanks for asking. The heating pad did the trick. Maybe it was leaning into the sewing machine to see what I was doing that got me bent wrong? One more household chore to add to the things not to do....!

Elaine said the magic word, GRITs....gonna go put some on right now for breakfast. Yum. Still in the 80s down there, why can't we average it out? Then we'd each be in the 60's as it's hovering around 30* here today.

Maybe we should send GardenGeek on a road trip to fix everybody's hair!! Mine surely could use some help. I have lots of it and it seems to go whichever way it wants to in spite of anything I do to it. I got overprocessed in the last perm because nobody ever listens to me, and now I've decided to go cold turkey and never ever ever have another one. It's bad enough I abuse it with coloring because I don't want to see what it looks like ...I have my suspicions!
Remembering what my birth mother's hair looked like when it turned gray makes me think that's what mine would look like. Not a pretty sight. Ahhhh vanity.

Going to try to stay away from this machine today and get something useful done....like windows....ugh.

Eat the blueberry pie before you tackle the blackberry raspberry, and don't mind the crust. I didn't make it, Sara Lee did, and let me tell you, she's got a heavy hand with pastry.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Morning All,

Not quite fully awake yet,,,haven't had my first whole cup a joe,,,LOL,,,Only 3 degrees here,,,fingers are cold and stiff yet,,LOL

sarv,
yep, there's a whole system to go along with it, scalp treatment, vitamins,,,,too early to think yet so will get back to you on other products.

Gayle,,
Am I a GOB or a ETTE,,,never did quite figure that out,,,LOL?

defoecat,
mmmm, chili sounds wonderful. Would warm me right up.

Well, will check in later.

Kel

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Good Morning everyone...Keeping this to a minimum...I'll have a bowl of that chili, please...and whoever is hiding the pie, could you slip me some of that too?

It's Friggen cold....I mean Frizzen cold. :-D

CU later,

By the time I caught up reading all lthe posts last night, i was too brain dead to respons to anything. I tried going onto the chat this morning, too fast and confusing for me. Besides, I'm at work and can't really spend much time on it. For some reason when I tried from home all I got was an empty box on my screen with a red X in the top left side? Anyone know what that is? Do I need to download something? I am about as computer illiterate as they come.

Chili with pie for desert sounds like a good lunch to me. I'll be back for some later!

Meezer- Glad your back is feeling better. If Garden Geek is making a road trip, send her my way.

See ya all later, have a good day!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning,

Been out to aquafit and back. Still have to dry my hair. Also have to fetch grand-twins and take them ti Kindermuski as DH is away.

Will be a bit scarce for the next few days. Ottawa Symphony concert on Monday evening. I have rehearsals 3-6pm on Saturday afternoon, 1-4pm and 6-9pm on Sunday and 12noon -2:30pm on Monday. Won't have a lot of time left.

Also scrambling to cover bells as one of my ringers told us yesterday that her physiotherapist advised her not to do bells for awhile. she won't be with us for any of the Nov-Dec stuff.

Will check in later this evening. Hope you all have a good day.

Ann

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning from a place where it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Now you'll all be singing that Mr Rogers theme song all day......... Ha Ha. Gotcha!

Really tho, it is beautiful out, sunny, clear sky and not windy. Frozen tho, about 20. I'll do some inside work while it warms up outside. I have a large table full of ripe tomatoes that need to be canned so that could be a good starter for cold mornings. It's sure way more than can be done in one day. I made a big batch of spaghetti but that only used a few of them. They are watery and not sweet enough for salads since they were green when they came from the garden to the basement table.

Ernie, your puppy is so cute sleeping with all her toys! I posted on that thread where you have the pictures of the ferry, did you see it? Have some questions there.

Onions, I love them fried but not raw. People are forever putting them in green salads and I appreciate the decorative ones in rings that can be removed easily. Same with mushrooms, love them cooked but I always pick them out of salad. I did eat some once that were marinaded in Italian dressing, they didn't taste or feel raw and were very good.

Many years ago we lived in a mostly Scandinavian community in western Washington where they have a Viking Fest celebration in mid May with a lutefisk eating contest!! I have eaten it, just once. The lefse and krumkakka tho is very good. I see some lefse here in the store and have tried it, but it isn't as good as what we used to get from a neighbor lady. The potato balls are also something good, haven't had those in a long long time.

Kelly, I think the line between GOB and GOBETTE is if you can get senior citizen discounts you are a GOB. Or something close to that definition. Probably some of us slip back and forth over the line on days when we feel achey or great.

I got one of those pedometers and set it to count my steps. On an average day lately I take somewhere between 5 and 6000 steps but yesterday it was over 13,000. Some of that was probably from a couple of bumpy rides on the tractor when I went into the neighbor's field to get some big branches that I want to use for sides on a flower bed. The pedometer counts giggles as steps, so a bumpy tractor ride made a bunch of them. But even with subtracting a couple of thousand it was still a busy day. I walked about a mile and a half in the morning getting the horses in for their foot trimming, and then did a lot of outside work in the afternoon until it was almost dark.

Speaking of busy, it's time I got that way. Have a great day, see you later.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

If giggles count as steps Mary, you better not wear that pedometerwhen you're here!!!
....just peeking !....back to work

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Back from the work out joint - had a good time laughing as we huffed and puffed . Then went to the grocery store an got another turkey!! I'm thinking about asking new DIL/family over to our house since she doesn't want to cook. But, just THINKING mind you....

Nothing planned here today - can't decide whether to do spaghetti or chili....decisions decisions....

Remember the pizza story from last week?? (one that was half off and turned out to be full price) Well one of the girls I work out with owns the pizza joint with her inlaws. I mentioned what happened to me and she said she will make it right. Said the family member running it is a slug.....

Gotta boogie- still cold out - 23 deg.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Well its good to see that I had a chance to read all the post before needed a bathroom break in between this time....

Not much going here today. I have to run to the attorneys office and sign some papers for the property, grocery store, and PO. Then home to dust the walls and wash the silk plant in the back hallway. Also need to clean the filters to the furnace, before it the real cold hits and I get that awful smell in the house...

Maria, I hope you are just taking the dog out for a bit and not roaming around at 2 in the morning with a dog that can still knock you down.

Meezer, how or why would they put down lawn fertilizer in the snow? I bet sewing was the culprit of your hurting back. I wear a brace when I am going to be sewing, I tend to hunch my back while doing it, a couple hours and I can't stand up straight and the lower back aches from trying to hold the rest of me up....

Sarv, I agree that most men bring their work home with them. Or at least when something is wrong at work they do. My DH can walk through the door and just by his body language I know if its going to be a long night....He walks heavy, the keys and other stuff just drop to the stand. My kids have even learned to wait and let him talk first....Now of course if you ask him he will tell you that he never does that. What a character....

Its going to be a beautiful day here, in the low 70's, only some slight wind. Well off to the showers....
Have a great day, I will check in later...

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Okay folks, don't come too near me unless you really like garlic! I made a bean salad for lunch: washed a can of cannellini beans (white kidney beans), added minced fresh garlic, chopped fresh flat leaf parsley, fresh lemon juice and olive oil. Man, was it tasty but the garlic taste lingers!

Glad everyone seems healthy and in a good place today!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Sun shining here and still warm, suppose to get colder and some more rain.

I am not out there at 2 AM, Casey, I live in Massachsetts lol some what ahead of your time zone, are you twoo or three hours behind, could look it up but too lazy, lol

Bet you are going to ask them over, Sarv, LOL

edited to say have quite a few errands like picking up medicine at the apothecary and getting food for Samson, he eats a lot LOL, he had a wonderful run this morning with the trainer with the leash but without holding it, great!

Mary couldnt find where I posted those pivctures of the new ferry being built What are your questions.

Day two of being a nurse and I am afraid I am not very good at it I can't seem to help much try as I might I can't seem to make Linda comfortable. Thankfully today is a better day and the pain is down . I helped her with her shower and got her hair washed and dryed all thumbs. Have to take her back to the Dr today for a little check up.

Jenny is eating much better and gaining wieght and starting to look like she belongs to some one that makes me happy.

Lots of smoked salmon left it is great with cheese and crackers drop by and take some home . Ernie

OOPS, those giggles should have been jiggles. Yep, this is a pretty giggley place.

Maria, I'm glad to hear that Samson is behaving and not pulling you around horizontally anymore.

Tea is gone, back to the tomatoes. That's toeMAYtoes. TomAWtoes are much more sophistocated than the variety I grow.

Ernie, your pictures and my questions are on the thread for the 14th. My post is at 9:01 pm.

Darius, bring on the garlic!!! We love it. All our kids love it! It's healthy, and keeps germy people away from you!

Carat, I think you are right about the sewing, I tend to lean in to make sure I'm getting the stitching right, and even with my glasses on, it's lifetime habit. Feels good today.

Sarv, stop thinking!!! Let that lazy girl sit on her butt, and go have your dinner where you were invited. If you invite her and then come back and complain about it we are going to use the 2x4 on you!!

I can't figure out the time zones without getting brain freeze. We have friends in Australia, and for the life of me I don't know if it's yesterday or tomorrow there. Or halfway to either one!!

Mary, I knew you meant jiggles, but I coudn't resist the poke.

She Who Will Not Be Named hasn't checked in for quite a while. I just walk past the computer and have to check in to see what' up. Haven't done a single window yet. LOL Are you surprised???

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Ernie, did I miss something - Linda is sick?? What happened?

Maria, you are right I will probably ask them over here to eat. I just can't bear to have anyone unhappy - especially my family. I just talked to my mom in Fla and told her the problem. She said 'of course ask them over' - life is too short to be alone. Gosh, do I EVER miss her - but she sounded so wonderful...and it is warm there and not like here in the low 20's with 8.5 inches of snow!! Can't believe I am getting all teary eyed just typing this....

Darius - yum - beans sound yummy. I'm not a big fan of garlic tho - little goes a long way. I swear I can smell it coming out of my kids skin when they OD on it. I had a big plate of chips/cheese/sour cream/tomato stuff on top - tasty too! And full of calories!! Having venison and rice for dinner - that's pretty low cal.

Gotta move- butt is getting sore...

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Just for fun...
Now no cheating.

If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose? Pick your dessert, then look to see what psychiatrists think about you!

??? Angel Food Cake

??? Brownies

??? Lemon Meringue

??? Vanilla cake with Chocolate Icing

??? Strawberry Short Cake

??? Chocolate on Chocolate

??? Ice Cream

??? Carrot Cake

NOW. You can't change your mind once you scroll down! So think carefully what your choice will be!

OK - Now that you've made your choice, scroll down to see what research says about you!

ANGEL FOOD CAKE... Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

BROWNIES... You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of under-dogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up, you whip out your saber. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction. You tend to be very loyal.

LEMON MERINGUE... Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING... Fun-loving, sassy, humorous. Not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people and can be counted on in a pinch. You tend to melt. You can be overly emotional and annoying at times.

CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE... Sexy; always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You can appear to have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

ICE CREAM... You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

CARROT CAKE... You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with, people like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

I picked Brownies, do you think it fits? ROFL!

Back to slaying the laundry monster. Sure wish *she*who*must*not*be*named* could draw me a pic of my monster. I imagine it as a blue and green fuzzy monster with mismatched socks for horns. (and a bit of a static cling problem, lol)

Hi all
Just checking in. Had a horrible night last night. Got up to go to the bathroom and slipped and fell. Can't imagine what in the world happened. Hit my head and bled like a stuck pig. The DH called an ambulance. Sooo embarrissing. I was actually glad, though, as it looked like a murder scene. Have a terrible headache and won't be going to the TG dinner. Am trying to get the food finished so he can pick it up. Boy am I glad I didn't put it all off until today. Will check back later if I'm up.

I'm a brownie too - but could have eaten all of them... LOL

Haven't gotten off my dear rear all day today....just wandered around looking at the plants I brought inside. Munching on whatever I find laying around. I hate days like this!!

Elaine, gosh girl be careful. Did they need to transport you or just tape you up? And you are finishing up what??? Ever heard of asking for help? You amaze me...

Julie, not sure if I am excited about this but I am a carrot cake too.

I have blooms on my datura again. Whoo hoo. It took me all summer to get the things to keep their leaves and now that no one goes out side much they are blooming. Figures..

Well I am off to throw the silks into the pool...

eweed,

Well, gotta get back in the Salon,,,,C U all later,

Thanks for each and every well wish. Didn't mean to be so winey. I didn't need stitches. Just got taped up and a compression bandage. It just makes ya feel sort of stupid ... :) Plus, the DH works for 911. grrrr That makes it double worse! That's also why I'm doing the food. We sign up and they're counting on it.
Okay, enough about me.
Kelly it's so nice to meet you. I'd like to make an appointment, please. Oh, and do you do nails? I believe someone has already asked but don't remember the answer and am too lazy to go back and find out. LOL
I'm not going to try to figure out the cake thingie either ... I'll just say I'm chocolate! After all, is there any other kind? I'm not sure what in the heck y'all are talking about.
Okay, back to the kitchen.
