Brugmansia sanguinea cutting or seed

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I got the dome at my local hydroponic store. It's great for begonia cuttings and what ever else it too tall!

Corte Madera, CA

gosh, lali, you're making me want to brave the rain and go to plant it earth. that's the only hydroponic store i know around here.

brigitte, on rockwool, i thought i'd tell you since you grow roses, too, i rooted some clematis on it, and it worked!

=)

We finally had the sun break through up here. I've seen them online at various garden supply stores. But I like the fact that it matches the tray below.

on the clematis, what size rockwool and how deep did you place the cutting?

Corte Madera, CA

i used the smallest cube, lali. the clematis less than 5" - - - had one node. it was just an experiment when i accidentally clipped the ONE vine my clematis had. it was a baby plant.

at least now i know i can grow clematis from cuttings!

FINALLY! I had just about given up on these b. sanguinea seeds. Today I pulled the rock wool block out of a ziplock it has been in for a few weeks (wasn't getting anywhere just letting them sit there so I popped them into a zippy) and I pulled a few of the seeds out which had the corky outer layer peeled off and there is the TEENIEST bit of a root on two of them. So there's hope!

I think I planted these just before thanksgiving!

woo-hoo, lali! please post photos.

i just potted up a few. i need LIGHT! it's been so dark the last few days. i need to fatten up my seedlings.

I know, I'm SO over this rain already!
We had tenatively planned on taking the kayaks and tent over to Tomales bay for Christmas eve overnighter, but not in this miserable rain.
I JUST got my grow lights today for my new stand in my bedroom, YEA! The UPS guy dropped them off and they were up n runnin' in about 30 minutes flat!
I think I'm suffering from that seasonal disorder! LOL, need some sunshine!

I'll post photos when they start to show something. I don't think my camera could even focus on the eensie little rootlet just yet!
(shot of my new stand for AV's below)
I posted it over in the AV's but can't remember if I posted it here too, sorry if it's a repeat.

love that stand! where did you get yours? costco used to carry them, and i'm hoping they have them still. ikea had something similar years back, and i haven't been there in a long long time.

then i'll get some shop lights ala kell's. then my seedlings are good to go.

you're happening!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I got this one at Target for $59.00
They still have them at our Costco ($80), but they're 48" long, too big for this spot in the bedroom. This one is only 36". The lights I got are 24" long - a little short, but I couldn't find 36" lights.

I got my shop lights here http://www.hydrowarehouse.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/9/products_id/1138
HIGHLY recommend the company. Ordered on friday last week (12/16) and got them today. Pretty fast, even with the holiday postal overload.

but they come from Petaluma oddly enough. http://hydrofarm.com/content/growlights.html#fixture

THe 24" size was hard to find. I get my 48" at Yardbirds (local version of a HD) and Lowes has them.

Corte Madera, CA

lali, thanks for all the info.

we have yardbirds, too, here in marin, and a month ago i read it was bought out by HD.

wow, $80 at the store, and $67 something online, but shipping is about $40. lol. costco and tagret here are in the same mall. i'll be productive.

i wonder what hubby will say if i make room for that shelf in the bedroom....

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

LOL! I asked DH if he would 'mind' if I put up another grow shelf in the bedroom. He mumbled a bit and then said 'go ahead', I asked it the lights coming on early in the a.m. would bother him. 'Hmmm, no, not really' he said.
BUT likely he didn't know what he was agreeing to when he said it LOL!

I have the fish tank you see on a timer so the lights come on around 5am, it wakes me up so a lot more 'gently' than an alarm. Then I get up just a bit later. I like to lay there and watch the fish in the am and now I stare at the av's on the shelf. (what a weirdo I know!)

now that the lights are in, we'll see what he has to say.

The shelf from Target I could carry myself, but the one's from Costco I needed some help with. they're heavy buggers! I have 5 of them in my office (playhouse) and they are loaded.

Happy Holidays, Lali (and everyone who watches this thread)....

Hubby got me the 48" W shelving unit costco carries! I am so EXCITED!!!

(When he's half asleep, I'll ask him if we can keep it in the bedroom. LOL.)

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Awesome! Good for you, wait until just before he dozes off. Then plant the subliminal message!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Yup, tell him how much better he will sleep with the plants cleaning the air.
