Afternoon Everyone!
I'm taking a break from packaging the 15 freshly butchered chickens that dh just went and picked up. His cousin raises 2 batches each year for the family. He left these get a little bigger than he normally does, but that makes me happier, lol. Now I can just cook one at a time instead of 2 smaller ones. This batch is averaging 7-8lbs. And there is one "Arnold Schwartzachicken" that has to be close to 10lbs! I'm leaving this batch all whole, just taking the necks off and seperating them and the gizzards ect from the rest. I either bake them, roast them or do the "beer can" type cooking on the grill. This summer I really experimented with that, and I found some great combos. Orange juice and rosemary, pineapple juice and mint is really good too. I have a can of apricot nectar in the pantry, which herb or spice do you think would compliment?
I'm starting to get nervous about the appt at the Pain Clinic. I have to have a driver, some "treatments" can leave my legs temporarely numb. I'm pretty wussy about needles anyway, and I had both my kids with no epidurals, altho I did WANT one with Nathan but they wouldn't give me one. I am planning to take a couple of Xanax before the appt so I'll be more "open" to the suggestions, but just thinking about it right now is giving me a tight tummy.
Back to the chickens...lol, is that considered a pun or not?

Coffee and...For Sat. Nov. 12, 2005
Hi Hap! Glad to see YOU...So *sorry* to see your loss. I can certainly understand your DH's depression, as well. IT has to be hard on him. I know my DH would probably just grab a hammer and be happy to have another project...but that's his way of coping.
Hi Sheila! LOL...I was good at the diagraming stuff too. It made me aware of exactly what a sentence was made up of. (hehehehe) Isn't that a dangling participle or something? :-D (I said I LIKED to do it...not that I USED what I learned. LOL)
And for those "tamaytoes" and "toemahtoes" I think it all depends on which school you went to. (And of course, if your mother was Australian...you got REALLY cornfused) And Potatoes always had an "e" when you mashed them. :-)
Maria...at 11 months, I don't think there's a yellow lab in the world that's as good as Samson is! My DS has one that's nearly two and we call him the "stupidest creature around"...that's because HE *is*! But you *have* to take into consideration the person who is training (and *loving*) the dog. My son is THE worst when it comes to spoiling his dogs *before* he trains them. tsk tsk tsk...a real no-no. :-D Samson already exhibits his willingness to learn. (I'm just a wee bit jealous...can you tell. ;-))
Gayle...the only time I can remember dressing fresh buthered chickens was the night the weasles got into the chicken house. Looked like it had snowed all over the barnyard. Daddy decided that we needed to get "the rest" of them before the weasles came back. 2 o'clock in the morning we were all pulling feathers and gutting chickens. (WoW...that memory came from *nowhere*. LOL)
Oh...don't be afraid of the needles. I have to use them on myself several times a day. The pain clinic won't be that bad. ;-)

Hi All,
We had a great time today, lots of plant trading, food and good company and conversation. I got most of the bottle and cans put into recycle, food brought into the kitchen but that's enough. I needed to sit down here.
What's everyone been doing? I checked in today for dmails to see who wasn't coming, but only 2 watched threads come up.
I think I need to watch some more threads, I feel I must be missing something. Too nice a day to be inside?
I'm going to nose in the Florida Forum and see if Art has posted pictures yet.

:^)))
Julie, my dryer has a load in it too. And guess what, when I went to wash that load, there was a load in the dryer AND in the washer.
Hap - so sorry about the loss of your plants. Hope DH's depression doesn't last too long.
We GOT the mouse at the Food Cupboard. He was dead on the sticky trap when we stopped by this morning. I was worried about finding it alive but stuck. I also got a few more traps just in case we have more mice.
We were successful in getting both cars washed and waxed; so the winter salt and slop can come and we are prepared.
Checked into the Internet account and find that I have fewer than 8 hours left until Nov. 17 at which point I get a new 70 hours for the new month. May not be talking so much unless I go to the library. Meanwhile, I'll check in once in awhile, open the thread and then read it off-line to save time.
Probably won't be back tonight. Kept busy all day and need to practice.
Hope you all have a good night.
Ann
I just got the funniest call from my 81 yr old mom. She and my step dad (also 81) are on their way down to Fla. They call everynight, just so I know they are ok. Anyhow, they have been in a 3 hour traffic jam - just south of Atlanta. My mom has a weak bladder and they had to get the car waste basket out for her. I know she won't be able to hit it!!
Molly- glad you had a fun day!! Did ya get lots of goodies?
Oh Hap - so sorry to hear of all the mess you have. I would be in the pits too, but DH needs to help you!! Easy for me to say 'count your blessings' as I don't have the mess to clean up that you do. Losing those orchinds would really make me unhappy!! Will insurance cover those??
I taught that 'o and oe' rule when I was working. If I remember right either one is considered correct!! Hey, I loved diagraming too. I think they should still teach that!
Did ya hear about Kalamazoo Michigan (town south of here) Some one (7 people actually) have offered to pay for a full college degree for all students that attend the public schools. They will do this for the next 13 yrs. I think that is the nicest thing I have ever heard of. They expect a ton of move ins to the school district - can't blame people!! College is so expensive.
Well, need to go - dinner is awaiting me!
I may have just done something really stupid. I have lost all my summer color and look just ghastly. I was telling my beautician and she told me she puts the 'fake bake' on her face. So guess what I did.....I may be ready for an early Halloween!! I didn't slather it on, but can just see myself with a big orange nose. DH is color blind - thank goodness.
DH did go out to the woods for another load of wood- I was on pins and needles - about ready to call DS and have him come over and go out into the woods to find him. He was gone 2.5 hours - I ate the whole time (nervous ya know) Now he is making dinner as I type (I do feel kinda bad about that!!) I did offer to make soup and grilled cheese, but he wanted a "meal"
Sarv, I had to laugh at your fake bake problem. Living in Vegas having a tan from May to Oct is easy, the rest of the year we all look pale. Well it was early AprilI and I had a wedding to go to. I was wearing a pale yellow dress that made me look sickly. So a friend suggested the fake bake spray. It was great and I was really impressed, until I started to sweat under the hot sun. Then to add to the mixture I had walked along a pathway that was recently watered and a few splashes caused drips to start on my feet. So by two hours into the event, my face, arms in the creases at elbows, thighs, and feet were streaked. Oh it was gosh aweful. Thankful I can claim it on being nieve. I was 15 at the time.
Hi Molly...So a good time was had by all, eh? GREAT!! I'm glad it turned out so well! And yes, it did seem a little slower on DG (on all the forums and threads) than usual. Obviously, I've been able to pretty well keep up with this one today. ;-)
Sarv...you are TOO funny! I can't believe that you actually made your DH make supper after being out the cutting wood all day. (I *really* had laugh earlier with the "Thanks for all the help" remark. I can see MY DH doing that...but under his breath.) And the comment about your Mom stuck in the traffic jam...why do you think *I* don't travel?? LOL
Ann, we're going to have you get a cheaper ISP service...70 hours just isn't enough! LOL I know *I* would never make it on 70. And, gee, it just dawned on me...you have to UPLOAD to your site in that amount of time. I remember dialup as being terribly slow on the upload. (Not that my satellite is any better, let me tell ya.)
Casey...I'm sorry...but I did laugh at the thought of the rain and sweat causing streaks. OH Sarv! Let's hope it *does* get cold and snow...REAL fast! LOL
Hope all you guys out in Iowa are still hanging on the ground right now. I heard a couple of tornado/es (which one is right??) touched down around Ames and the SW corner of WIS is under a watch until 11 tonight. (I really don't like those watches...can't seem to settle down until they're cancelled.)
Think I'll go start tomorrow's Daily, a little early tonight...just in case I can't back on later.
Well...Have a good one!
~julie~
I decided not to wait...
Tomorrow's DAILY is up in the PARKING LOT!
Here's a link if you need it!

See ya tomorrow!

Don't send that wind over here!! It's been blowing for two days already, anything loose has already gone over the Lake to Muskegon! OK, going to new day and won't be back tonight.
