Are animated gif files allowed?

I'd like to upload a small animated gif file...is the format allowed? Where do I find info on what image formats are acceptible?

No, there is no system in place for animated gifs. We had a long discussion about that a long time ago and the resolution was basically that they are irritating or distracting to a lot of people.

Dave, I agree with you about those animated files.
I visit a local community site that allows them. Some are really cute but occasionally violent and offensive ones are posted, even as Avatars.
DG is the friendliest site I visit, with great people. Positive attitudes and friendly advice are what bring me back, day after day.
