defoecat - what type of paint do you use on the rocks. I think that is such a great idea.
Maria - your quilts are beautiful.
Had a very busy day today. 2 meetings and a big problem to deal with. Someone (sorry, don't remember who) asked last evening about the samples our company does. We do 2 medical related and one program that goes to animal shelters and rescues. I hate days like this, cuts into my DG time, hehehe.
Going to my sisters tonight for tea so I don't know if i'll get back on here or not. If not, have a good evening.

Can you cover them in any way, woodspirit? I just went out and put a pot over my carnations that have two blooms just starting to open, because it's to get into the upper 20s here tonight. Maybe you could use a sheet or something?
Thank you for your compliment, SuzieQ, have fun with your sister
I always have lots of fun with mine, unfortuately I do not see her very often, she still lives in Vienna, Austria
Just checking in to say hello before heading back out to the flower beds. I'm making progress and have almost finished weeding and trimming perennials in the big lasagna bed. Another hour on my knees should do it. I've got one of those cushy foam rubber pads and it sure helps, not only with making the ground feel softer but also warmer. The weather forecast for the next few days says it could be wet. UGH. I don't need rain or snow now, I need a few more days like today. Maybe we won't get any rain, that happens sometimes since we are on the dry side of a dry county. There is still a lot I want to get done outside. It's time to throw another log on the fire and go back outside. See you later.
No, they're 8 feet tall with lots of branching. Boo hoo..
Pass the 2x4 - who has it??? I am so ticked. Never did give DH a hair cut...he fell asleep and I wasn't about to wake him up!! As he was leaving for the dentist he asked what was for dinner. I told him to pickup a pizza on his way home. He told me he didn't feel like pizza. I assumed he would get one anyway as I picked up one last week for him. Well guess what - he came home empty handed. He is getting the major cold treatment now. WHEN will he learn that he has to give a little... grrr If gas wasn't so high I would hop in the car and bring one home just for me. I didn't eat a thing for dinner- the start of a new diet....
DGS just called and asked me to go to his 'loved one' lunch tomorrow. But he doesn't know what time etc. Hopefully DIL will call and figure things out..They are having a thanksgiving lunch - ahhh, I remember those lunches at school...pressed turkey, fake potatoes, boxed dressing- yum He told me I couldn't stay as he wanted to go out to recess. lol he is a stitch!!
I had to haul in three huge containers of flowers - supposed to get down in the 20's tonight.
Maria= beautiful quilts. I wished I could make one. I did do several 9 patch ones when the boys were younger for their beds, but can't do the little tiny pieces. My dear aunt is making me one, but she is so old that it will be a labor of love. I went out to see it and she has stains all over it from pricking her fingers!! She is pushing 90 and a real peach.
Well, my folks leave tomorrow and I know it will be a sad day here....I'll need some cheering up gals!!
Maria - lovely quilts. I sew and make various things, but I haven't got the patience to do quilts; so I really respect those who do.
Got into the US Embassy today as an advance visit for my handbell choir. The security in that place makes airports pale by comparison. At the gate, I had to surrender my car keys because I have a remote on them. Then through a metal detector.
In the door and greeted by someone who asked what my business was. My purse was x-rayed and there was another metal detector to walk through. I had already unloaded my hand cream and most of my lip protectors though I had one in my pocket. They let me keep that after I used it in front of them. But I surrendered a little bag of cosmetic items, some nasal spray and some anti-bacterial hand cleaner.
Then, armed with two numbered tags to get my stuff back later, it was on to the marine behind the bullet proof glass. I surrendered my photo ID - driver's license - in exchange for a visitor tag and was met by the person I was meeting.
I got everything back on the way out but had to pass back through the metal detectors to get out of the building. Quite an experience.
Then my handbell group sounded so sh***tty tonight that I threatened them with cancelling the US Embassy visit. We may have to rethink some of the repertoire, especially after my best ringer, a Korean girl, informed me that she's planning to take some courses from a University in Toronto and they just told her that an entrance exam she has to take is on the same day and she won't be able to play with us. I think I am going to ask the director of bells at a neighbouring church if she'd like to join us.
At this point, I'm putting together a list of all possible subs and roadies that they need about a week in advance. They said no problem if people on the list did NOT come, but if I had people who were not on the list, it would be a problem.
Gotta go practice viola. Probably won't get a chance to check back in tonight, so good night.
Ann
I have my own experience with a US Embassy. I'm a US citizen and I couldn't get in. Imagine that! But I didn't have a good reason to be in, so I guess it was okay. I was in Ecuador in Sept. 2003, visiting our exchange student who lives there. Her mom and I were walking around downtown Quito and I had never seen a US Embassy before, so we walked by. The courtyard was really neat and I wanted to have my picture taken in it. We went up to the gate and they said no, since I didn't have official business and I wasn't having a problem that I needed their help with. So I had her mom take a picture outside the gate. While her mom was talking to the person at the security gate, a couple was exiting the embassy and they came over and asked if there was a problem. They were with the US government, from Michigan, and they said security was really tight ever since the war in Iraq started and we really needed to not be insistent because it could cause a huge problem. They were a nice couple and we talked for awhile then we left.
I tore apart my window boxes and planted the yellow archangel in the garden, put the springeri and spike in a huge pot and brought that inside. Also potted up the vinca vine, which was still sprouting new shoots and brought that in. We'll see how long those things last. My utility room is FULL now!
Hi, everyone. This is the first chance I have had all day. Human resource office called saying they need to take a copy of my original SS card for security reasons before I can go back to work. Okay, look in wallet and its not there. Haven't a clue where it is or the last time I have seen it. Go to SS office and they need 2 proofs I am me. Okay, come home and go through files and can't find my file folder with my info in it. Birth cert, baptism cert, marriage, name change, DD214 is all missing. Hate life right now.....
Oh CARAT
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your paperwork. What a hassel that is to have to replace those things. Sure hope you find them safe and sound. I'm forever putting things in a "safe" place where they won't get lost, ;) so maybe that's what you've done! Good luck!

Well, got through supper, spaghetti, salad and garlic bread, cleaned the kitchen, and sat and read for awhile. Talked to DS tonight, he is doing great, loves his job, and his relationship is going good, only wish that a minister would complete the picture. I got so much done today, I even surprised myself. Painted all the rocks, and 5 gallon pots, and 2 huge pot saucers. These are going to be made into bird bathes. The pots are going to be decorated with mosaic and given as gifts. Then took out the blue rug juniper and a volunteer barberry bush. Hate those things too. All in all I will have a place about 5 feet long and about 6 feet wide as additional planting space in that bed. I usually put annuals there, so it will be considerably more populated next year.
Kbaumle, I didn't want the blue rug to begin with, but DH insisted about 10 years ago. Talking about spending your kids inheritance on a camera, I am spending my DS's on gardening!! I feel like I am the one who made the money, and I will spend what I like.
101, I do know the meaning of addicted, adding 3 more beds for the spring. And thanks for the pat on the back. How did the highlighting turn out, and did the doggy come back smelling all good?
Maria, Thanks for the lots of pats on the back. I understand, the fence training, it is boring, but once they get it, they don't forget it. And speaking of far away sister, please consider all the GOB's your sister. I know, it is hard to be far away. DtwinS, and I talk at least once a week.
Sarv, I laughed about being cold. Next time take a coat. Why don't you just go on to the Dr. and get something for that drainage. May be a sinus infection coming on. Don't get sick before winter even gets here. The 2x4 is by the door, dang it's been awhile since anyone needed it. Just because they don't feel like pizza, so okay, get some burgers, and compromise, oh, forgot I was talking about a male spousal unit!! LOL>
Jasmerr, that sounds like a good DS, for helping out in the garden. Give him a pat on the back from me.
Julie, when these energy spurts hit, I have to take advantage of them. Always, "make hay while the sun shines". Hey, you aint's no slouch when it comes to working.
Woodspirit, I would drape a sheet over the brug, and hope for the best. A little protection could just save it.
Susieq, I just use exterior spray paint. I painted these rocks green, and will use a white paint pen to write on them, put some stickers on them and seal with acrylic. I have used the mini-blind tags, but hate the looks of them in the winter.
Mary, sounds like you too are getting quite a bit done outside. As you say this is all for having time next spring to indulge in your first love. Hope the weather stays dry for you for a few days. I loved your comment about putting another log on the fire. Don't have a way to burn wood, but wish we did.
ViolaAnn, I know the security is a hassel, but in this day and time of terrorists and such, understand it completely. Good idea to get a list of subs, so if somebody has to drop out, at least they will already be on the list. Good thought on the director of bells at another church. Probably knows all the music already.
Carat, lost documents=lost identity. So just who did you say you were, oh and can you prove it? So how are you feeling? Are you going to be able to go back to work next week. I know that anxious feeling when you have been away for a few days, and chomping at the bit to get back into the grind. NOT.
Well, I am off to another good night's sleep. I think I have found the secret, (but I just don't know what is different), and I never, never, never, look a gift horse in the mouth. The last time I did, it was filled with big ugly yellow teeth. LOL.
Night All.
Defoecat, I am feeling alot better. Thanks
Still not sure on the date of return for work because of this stomach infection. I took a leave of absence when mom and dad fell ill and I am just now finding my way back to some sort of normalacy.
I am more sick about my info being lost then the infection right now...I have everyones info in separate file folders in the cabinet. My entire folder is missing. I am at a complete loss as to where it is or where it went.....
Well better get back to the hunt....
Casey
