Tonight I went looking for a old thread that had some information I wanted. I got so caught up reading old threads I spent almost 2 hours reading them before I even realized it. It was like a trip down memory lane. There is so much useful information, laughs, hopes, dreams and tears in all those old threads. I have sat here and laughed, and cried and thought on some ahh I remember when that happened.
This got me wondering if anybody else did that as well? Do you ever look at the old threads, if so why?
I went looking for information in an old thread and got lost along the way. :)
Do you check out the old threads?
I surely do Peggy - some great stuff.
The old threads remind me of why I joined and the first few folks who welcomed me and that I connected with. You're right, you just read and think - wow - we've witnessed an awful lot here at DG :)
Thanks for the reminder :)

I do that often.....get sidetracked....and it's good. I got laughing the other night at the RU pics from our infamous 2003 KY RU. What a great time was had by all.
The only reason I got my bills paid last night was 'cause my DSL was down so I couldn't
get lost on DG! I've only been (an active) member for a year so I have lots of catching up
to do too.

Well, I guess I never did til I read this thread so I started with yours. LOL...Went all the way to the beginning and worked forward. Sheesh, where has all the time gone? Course I came to a screeching halt when I saw your dl's posted in PF...LOL....Imagine that! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Now I'll need to check out my own threads.
I do it often, Peggy. I remember the first thread where we talked about where our names came from and you told about the little stuffed unicorn. :)
Good question.
Good to know I am not the only one that looks at them. I 'll have a question about a plant, and think there was a thread along time ago and go off on a hunt for it and get lost reading other threads. :) Janiejoy I can't believe you remember that. It was a good thread wasn't it?
Old threads are very valuable to me also; why ask a question on Dave's when it has already been answered in an old thread. It is pretty easy to search the site rather than bother you seasoned gardeners with a question they are tired of hearing.
This website is so big, the more garbage posted, the harder it is to get to the important info.
Wish that the title of a thread would relate to the content. Socializing belongs somewhere else.

Oh yes, I do it a lot. Esp.when I have nothing new to share. Of late I'm doing this more frequently. DG is such an obsession. You said it right. We share a lot of information in the threads and it is there we have to fall back upon in need later. Not for nothing digging and raking are our favourite pastimes - this is indoor!

I'm here now. I think a lot of good threads get buried, so I go looking. If I don't want to duplicate an old thread, I'll search for it before I start.
Read old threads??? I AM AN old thread! LOL
Actually, Mystic has been here about as long as Dave.....and she is one helpful person...as is Horseshoe...and so many others I can't begin to name them. Jo
LOL Roadrunner. I'm grateful for the advice you old timers can give. Old, not necessarily pertaining to age! You are all my new Grandmas since mine are gone and I get my interests from them.
Hey Billy...at least I now know you are a female....LOL Jo
Thanks everybody you are right threads get buried fast, that does show that DG has a large active community and that's a good thing. Jo thank you, you wanted to make me blush didn't ya? You are right about Horseshoe and so many others with tons of old post with so much knowledge. Jo you are wrong in that you are an "Old Thread" I have never meet anybody younger in my life.
Billyporter, welcome to DG, you are very wise to check the post. If you need any help getting around DG just give us yell, but I think your have it pretty much figured out.
When you get the chance check out some of the old post, I'm sure you will enjoy them.
I think being an old thread is a badge of honor! I wish I had been here from the beginning. We never had e-mail till our daughter talked us into it. So, when researching plants I'd come across Daves Garden. I had a longing to be here. I signed up and later sent my check in. It's going to be hard to catch up when I finally get outside and don't come in till dark. I'll be posting late. Course, we'll all be in the same ''garden.'' So many in different time zones. What fun!
A hearty WELCOME TO DG! Billyporter! Come on in and set a spell.
Now, as for that "You are all my new Grandmas since mine are gone and I get my interests from them."
I might've celebrated two 50 yr birthdays but I ain't no Grandma! ; >) (I'm a GrandPa, though!)
And yes, I agree, lots of good info in old threads and even more coming in daily in the newer ones. Don'tcha just love it!!?
Hope to see you around the site billyporter!

Lol that he will, he has lots of wonderful plant knowledge. He also, has wonderful stories as well but it will be up to you decide if they are true or not. lol
Thanks Horseshoe, my Granddad and Grandpa are gone too. One had sheep, one had cows. Alas no-one had the horse I wanted.
Magoobu, Mystic, I hope so. I just learned about mite boxes on a chicken roost from my Dad. Don't learn that every day.
Shoe, I'm in and out, back and forth, and up and down. We're sure to meet again. I'm waiting for wisdom and I love a good laugh!
