Morning Glories 2005 #27

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Mine does look like Emma's Plum Frost doesn't it? Here is a photo that shows the star more clearly. Some blooms it was barely visible on and other like this it was very pronounced. The link below is to a photo on eBay of Heian Akathuki that I thought looked very much like mine. Wonder if we got it from the same source? Seedsower, your shibori wisteria tye dyed NOT looks like it too, but without the vaigated foliage.

Susan...mine does have the variegated foilage, you just can't see it too well in the photo. I'm thinking about trying to overwinter it if the frost didn't get it. I'll have to check!

The Asuka NOT or whatever it is varied a lot from bloom to bloom. Here are a couple blooms on a cool morning.

Sandy, looking at our two photos on the same screen, they sure do look a lot alike. Do you remember who you got the seed from?

Susan

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Could anyone post a link showing where they get these JMG seeds directly from japan? I tried takii but I couldn't navigate it (do you speak japanese).

Thanks

I am going to email the eBay seller and see if he remembers if his seeds came from Member98007. That is who my seeds came from. My guess is the scanned one is the real Heian Akathuki, but who knows? Whatever we are all growing, they sure are pretty! Hope it comes back true from seed next year.

Susan

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

no some of us had been involved in a co-op, which is where we had gotten most of these seeds. hope someone can host the co-op again this year!!!

Here is the back of the TAKII heian akathuki seed packet

sorry the flash went off, hope its readable

Oh and all those 'plumfrost star' ones are just beautiful :)
All I got from plumfrost was a pretty pink one *not complaining* that bloomed late season. I got 4 seeds off it.

Susan I agree, no matter what it is, hope it comes back true with the star next year, so pretty!

if you look at the 8:57 am post, that is Donna's Heian Akathuki photo, it matches the seed packet, so these others are either generated from this seed, deteriorating (or getting prettier each generation, reverting, who knows) but they are stunning. and I totally agree, keep growing each years seed just to see what happens next!

Calvert County, MD(Zone 7a)

hmmm, co-op, never done one of those :)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

oh Zem it's pretty, save those 4 seeds to grow and see what comes from it next year :)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Zem, this person is about all sold out now, but hopefully will have seeds later this season.

I am not sure there is going to be one here this year, but will have to wait and see. there was also an ebay seller out of Japan, where some folks got seed this past spring, not listing yet this year, but we can possibly show you the way to the link if they do again :)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Susan, that's the place!! we are cross posting all over each other this mornign LOL

Calvert County, MD(Zone 7a)

Ohhh, thanks Susan, I had found that place before but looked couldn't get it again. Now all's I gotta do is wait 'till next year, lol :)

Not like I don't have enough seeds already!

I'll definately plant the Pink PF's next year. Amongst all the seeds that dropped from this year. I hope JMG seeds can survive RI Winters... Anyway, I'm soo curious as to what will come up :) I've also planted a few indoor seeds forom this year's collection (because I need some winter colors and I'm just too curious, lol)

Yuriko (lionnet.fc2web.com) told me that she will be selling seeds again but not until after the beginning of the year. She had been having health issues so if some of you emailed her and did not hear back that is probably why. She also has two young children so I imagine she is VERY busy!

Must have more MG
Oh dear," to morning glory or to eat ? "
no contest more MG
Got to fine who sells the shredded spidery looking ones , if go broke do it big time.

Diagnosis: ipomania, we've all got it :)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Infection here too. I was just out in the yard doing some fall clean up and debating if I should dig up my 4 Jackmania Clemetis and plant JMG in their place next year. I'm thinking the answer is yes. The clemetis are getting old and woody anyway.

Susan

Calvert County, MD(Zone 7a)

Susan, I agree!

One of many signs of ipomania: You begin to lose sight of your house under a MG blanket

Trellises just seem to pop up in strange places too.

Oh my Susan! Don't dig up the Clematis! I planted the Chocolate Picotee MGs among the clematis up at my daughters house, and the clematis provided a wonderful "natural" support for the MGs to grow upon! By the time the clematis was done blooming the MGs began to bloom! Maybe you can see some of the clematis leaves and beginning seedpods in this photo!

way back on thread #20, Emma posted a few pics of 'yangi botan' but from the look of the flower, it looks to be a sterile vine. http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1760853

Also I recently saw 2 ebay auctions for Mutants. One for "blue MAYB mutants" but that was $20.00 or so! I also saw one for "dai JMG" (the ones with the little cup thingies in the center of the flower) but I missed it :(

I ordered some of the seeds from Yuriko yesterday and am willing to divide some of the packs that have 20-25 seeds. I will start a separate thread for anyone who might be interested.
