Maria, I like your custome of using both knife and fork as I use them to keep up with where my food is on my plate. Very useful to keep your knife in hand. Can't stand to have my meat all chopped up either. LOL One of the first things people want to do for you when you can't see is ... cut your meat up! Yes, sweet. But, if I need assistance I will ask. Quite embarrissing to be in a group of church friends and someone (well meaning ) say "Do you want me to cut that up for you?" Sort of makes you feel 2.
edited to add a chuckle because I was laughing when I typed this, but when I went back and read it ... it didn't sound like it! LOL :) Okay, off that soapbox. :)

Coffee and...For Monday Nov 7, 2005
Wow, I get sick and y'all just take off running. Welcome to the newbies. I am one too so I really aint calling names.
Still not feeling well, now the temp has started in. DH is coming home early and taking me to the doctors. I am really dizzy and fuzzy but haven't taken any type of med that would cause it. I managed to get some chicken broth down a little earlier but it didn't help much.
To those that are well stay that way, those that are sick get better, those with PITA's for natural or step children use the 2X4 by the door on their way out.
Darius drive safe and have fun....
Oh and I believe that my laundry pile has a reproductive system. I discover clothing I know I never paid for or have seen before and sometimes it comes in sizes that don't fit a soul in this house and other times it is a style that makes your eyes water.
Thank you Maria he went through it all with flying colors!!!
Still will not let me take a picture though UGH!
Good going with teaching your sons all of those traits it pays off!!!!
Carat please take care and feel better will be thinking of you!
Darius -YS- Safe trip!!!
Off to make taco salad for everyone!!!
Anne
One time whe I was in London with a group ol friends, Elaine, one of them was blind, when the waiter came he said, your meat is at six o'clock, vegetables at nine potatoes at three. he never needed any help after that, I thought how interesting the waiters help was
Casey, I know hoe you feel, simply rotten, but take care
Maria- vintage child's rhyme -
I eat peas with honey, I've done it all my life.
I know it may sound funny, but it keeps them on my knife!
lol, new one for me, Ginni
Yep, that's the way I like it done. Restaurants are getting more and more educated, too. A lot of them have Braille menus now. Really nice to be able to sit down and leasurely brows the menu. Hey, but I could NEVER stab a pea with my knife! LOL Would starve to death firrst! ;) Woops ... there's the DH! Hugs ... Elaine
What a busy day you all have had!! I ran around like a headless chicken, got my roots to match the rest of my hair, mailed stuff (!), went to my favorite italian market got fresh mozzarella, sausage, 20 lbs of BIG idaho bakers, a nice boneless chicken breast wrapped around fresh asparagus which is in the oven right now with a sliced eggplant smothered in tom. sauce and parmesan, even squeezed in a movie "North Country" which was about the first woman to win a class action sexual harassment suit. It was good, but depressing as I recall working in a factory where all the men were making comments at the women, not nice ones either.
So, I came here to catch up and meet the newcomers, (welcome to both of you!) while dinner cooks. Did a couple of loads of laundry too, wonder who comes and wears my clothes and dumps them in the laundry basket for me to wash. Speaking of which, flat surfaces attracting guy things. I find auto parts soaking in my laundry tub, or sitting on top of the washer or dryer. I have finally trained him to at least put something underneath them........
Good thoughts to the ailing, keep well to the hale, hello to Darius whereever she is, and I love the furbees in the sunshine. Mine argue over sunny spots but never really fight. But you can see one trying to fill up the whole space so the others can't squeeze in.
Ding! I think that's dinner. I'll snag a couple of those muffins for dessert and pretend that I made them......
Curses.....I typed a big reply and hit something and it is GONE!! I'm too lazy to retype it...so I'll just say I'm thinking of you all! Read all your posts too....(my luck has been crummy all day...so this fits right in!)
Well, the doctor says I'm sick. NO SH** sherlock.
I am so glad I got out of bed, showered, got dressed all with a 104 temp and vomiting the whole time to be told that.
They are a bit worried about the virtigo going on with my eyes and head though. They stole some blood and I gave them some other samples to hopefully shed some light on it. So until those tests come back they don't want me taking anything stronger then tylenol. And since I haven't been able to keep even that down, I am out of luck.
Then to top it off, my SIL has been on a roll again. She has tracked down family members that have ran to other states because of her and her sisters to inform them of a whole stack of lies pertaining to DH and I. OH is DH off the charts with this one. And of course I have to be sick and dont get to be the fly on the wall for the big bash.
Hope all is well out there....
carat - its time to MOVE! You don't need that stress. You and DH go build a life on a beautiful sunny island, and live happily ever after! (if you can't find a real island just grow one.)
I'm so mad for you, I forgot to say - please take care of youself and get well soon.

Hi,
another quick check in (twice in one day--- think that's a record for me!)
Casey, that sounds truly rotten. I certainly hope that whatever you've got passes quickly. That is no way to lose weight! I have to admit that I'm biased, but doctors really can be some of the most irritating people on this earth. I still remember a doctor coming to the house when I was quite young. Instead of shaking the thermometer before trying to take my temp, he was actually jumping up and down with it in his hand. I wasn't even in my teens yet, but I was thinking "This idiot is supposed to be taking care of me? Oh oh!"
sarv, sorry it's been "one of those days".
Maria, I'm with you on Thanksgiving. It's never been one of my favorites either. This year is already getting "interesting" as the last time I spoke with one of my brothers it seemed that we were going to be gathering at his house, but the other day my mother informed me that SIL's son's ex (who happens to be mom's hairdresser) told her that they're coming to OUR house. That's nice. I'm glad somebody's talking to somebody, at least now I'll know to go buy a turkey! Since my brother and SIL are notorious for not returning phone calls or checking their e-mail, we haven't yet been able to confirm this. Even my mother who's all gung-ho for "family gatherings" is now saying "the h**l with it, let's go to a restaurant and if they show up, too bad"
There's part of a rather anemic looking apple upside-down cake on the counter. I got as far as "turn cake out of skillet onto a heat-proof plate and run under the broiler" before I realised there wasn't a heat-proof plate that size in the house. Oh well, it tastes good anyway. Help yourselves.
Casey, I am so sorry you are feeling so awful and to having problems with family members on top of it, how disgusting for both of you,it sounds like you have the real flue not justa bad cold
Oh you all have no idea how badly I wish we could move now. But realistically we need to wait until DH finishes his contract with the county. He has such high moral standings that he would never consider not following through with something that he has said he will do. It's one of his best features, it just happens to be his worst for me right now.
Also it wouldn't be fair to the kids to uproot them with out warning. Our youngest would be the first in the car to go, but the two older ones are not to keen on the move and we are waiting until they are both 18 so they can make their own decisions on what they want to do.
Plus I would rather have the issues with land such as the stream cleaned up and the clearing of the dangerous depri in the woods done before I get my all boy 11 year old out there playing Daniel Boone and getting hurt.
Wonderful thought though.
Well my bullion is done. Yippee.
Casey, sorry you are under the weather. Hope tomorrow finds you feeling better.
I'll have a piece of that apple cake, anemic or not. If its apple, its got to be good!
Really tired tonight so I'll see you all tomorrow. Good night.
Welcome wisteria and janiejoy. janie, I think of u whenever I go by that 'Janiejoy' hosta by the hedge. It was an unknown from u so it is no longer and unknown. LOL
Carat - hope u feel better soon. Been there done that, still having lower abdomen problems. grrr!
A gorgeous day today, in the 60's! Bummer tho - it was dark when I got to work at 7 and about the same color when I left work at 5:45.
I was surprised to see picketers at work when I arrived this am. They were protesting the many credit card scam calls we are required to process and porn calls, which are few and far between, usually all we get are kids trying to get operators to say obscene stuff. We call a supervisor over and they give them a tongue lashing and hang up the phone.
But the credit card scam calls are sad. And some folks are so dumb! It a guy gives u 4 different credit cards, don't u think u should be wondering where he s getting all these cards from? The FCC just ruled again that we must process them because of the privacy laws - they are entitled to make confidential calls just like anyone else. So the Nigerians are laughing all the way to the bank, by the tune of millions of dollars scammed from Americans every year. They call thru the computer to relay so they don't even have to pay for the phone calls.
Big day tmr so I better get the pea soup ready for cooking in the morning.
darius - glad to hear ur out there somewhere - have fun with Molly. Wish I could join u guys!
IO1 - help me out pls, can't for the life of me figure out what a backwards 's' is. 1-5-6 pls????? Lerae has used it a number of times and I'm stumped. Also, do my relay abbreviations come across ok for u? If not, I'll try really hard to not use them. Also, we use no apostrophe's either so that's why u don't see a lot of them from me. 2-5 2-3-5-6 Ha! Ha! Is that a big smiley??
sarv48 - I also typed a post - actually the beginning of a new thread on the Daylily forum - previewed it and then closed my browser instead of sending it. Suppose there's something in the air today?
Casey, take care and get better. What a bummer with the SIL.
Re Thanksgiving dinner, well we had ours about amonth ago. Makes sense in Canada to have it at harvest time. Also gives us time to recover from the excesses of the meal before we do the same thing all over again at Christmas. I've been scaling the meal back a bit the last few years and we never miss the excesses.
Just in from Ottawa Symphony string rehearsal. Usual verbal abuse from the s * b of a conductor (think that will get by the language police?) I guess it will all come together by the concert in two weeks time.
Spent some time loking at photos and trying to decide which might be worthy of entereing in the DG photo contest. Also got the damaged part of my viola glued before the rehearsal this evening and my cell phone repaired at a shop almost across the street from my luthier. Repairing the viola meant I got an afternoon off from practicing ;-) because I couldn't put the chin rest back on right away.
Good night all.
Ann
Didn't think I had been gone that long, but you all talk at sonic speed. Had supper, and the traveling widow, DH had been rabbit hunting, and I fixed that for them. For me it was grilled Tequila Lime Chicken. Still won't do the wildlife thing. I will cook it, but not eat it.
Casey, sure hope that you start to feel better soon. The yucks are the pits. I was so upset last Thursday night, I had taken my mom to her monthly pot luck supper at her church, and the lady across the table from us was feeling poorly, intestinal virus. So far so good, guess the vitamins I take count for something. Why in the world would someone sick come to a potluck dinner.
Magabo, glad the dentist thing went well. Get us a pic if you can.
Viola Ann, your Thanksgiving makes more sense, that way we could have 2 months in between big meals.
McCool, sounds like your Thanksgiving plans are as scrambled as mine. Since We were dis invited at my sisters, DS and girlfriend has invited us to join them. Of Course this is along with her dysfunctional family. Don't know of a tactful way of declining, so will probably drive an hour, eat, and then try to escape as soon as we can!!
JaneyJoy, there is not a surface in this house that DH has not used at one time or another. Have you ever seen a pair of shoes sitting on a dresser. When I asked why, so the dog couldn't get to them. I find screws, nails, on the washer. Oh and today when I was doing laundry, taking the clothes from the washer to the dryer, DH had a paper towel in his pocket, which was in shreds. He does that all the time, just makes me furious. If I can do laundry so he has clean clothes, don't you think it would be asking little to have him clear the pockets?
Sarv, sorry you are having one of those days, but don't start an epidemic!!!
Meezer, you are a dynamo on wheels. Nobody realizes that running errands are a major time stealer.
Maria, I too, trained my sons to do domestic things. He is just beginning to realize how helpful those things are.
Well to anyone I missed, it isn't intentional, just poor memory. Hello to one and all. I loved the pic of the fur kids in the window. Don't have but one indoor cat,but she tries to rule the roost. Major competition between Boots the cat, and Mr. B. the Jack Russell.
Well I know that it is early, but am going to bed. Seems like my domestic work today has really made me tired. Although I did get a lot accomplished. More of the same for tomorrow.
Night all!

defoecat,
My DH is famous for balls of kleenex (clean AND dirty - YUCK) in his pockets. ::sigh::
Shoes on the dresser are commonplace here, and you wouldn't believe the clutter.
But - I still love him.
I just wish I had the energy I had at 20 so I could keep up with it all.
Okay I have a secret, and since he doesn't know the web address I hope I am safe.
When DH puts something someplace that he knows (18 years, he knows) will upset me I quietly pick it up and put it somewhere else a bit more appropriate. This includes shoes, tools, a brand new jacket, keys, money, work ID tag, TV remote, papers, and anything else.
And he knows better then to ask me where the missing article is or ask for my help in finding it. He knows I will ask where was the last place he saw it, and once he admits he left it where it has no business TAADAA. I just love eye opening experiences...LOL
though my DH was neat once in a while he asked me where his sweater is or a simular item, I would answer ,don't know all I know is I did not wear it LOL
