Coffee and...for Nov 4, 2005

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

We had leftover Italy...asked DH if he had enough spag. sauce this week. He just laughed.

Why are there two threads? Y'all are making me dizzy. er. I need to go watch some mindless drivel on the tube to straighten out my brain.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Good Evening all,

I am back home in my comfy office chair in front of my own comfy puter now. No a/c and the not so gentle "purrrrr" of the generator drifting in the windows.
But I have a working puter and a couple lights, so life's not so bad.

The trailer is in now, set up and anchored down (pictures over in the other thread). Darius detoured over to see me today and I was thrilled to see her. I met her kitty for the first time and she seemed to like me. (rare for a cat to like Molly) We had a nice lunch and I made Darius tromp the full depth of my new place, made her climb up those cement blocks into the trailer (no porch yet) and she helped me cart the new ceiling fans in.

I forgot to plant all those bulbs I took up so they are back on the patio here patiently waiting for the next trip. It's jsut as well since the skirting hasn't been put on yet. The workers no doubt would be trampling any new flower beds at this point, so not really prudent to put them in anyway. It's a good excuse for a bad memory.

Maria, I adore Samson and when he wants to climb on a bed, send him down here. I'm sure my Snowy would make room for him. :^)))

It's been hard for me to carry a thought any further than I could throw it, these past few days/weeks. My brain is on overload so's I don't even know if I have one anymore. This thread really goes fast and full, so please forgive me if I seem to neglect any of my good friends here. Maybe I can do better in the next few days.

me too can't take the cofusion! LOL M5

Now how can I go get a bath if y'all keep posting? :) Oh, maybe we could name the thread by the day instead of numbering them if we do a daily thread? I might could keep up with the day! LOL

Okay a laugh for you all.

When DH and I went to SC this last time I entrusted my 18 yr old daughter, 17 yr old son and DD's boyfriend with the safety of my 11yr old. Well in the mail today I received this picture. My DD's boyfriend (18) and one of his room mates (18) took my 11yr old out for a night on the town while DD and DS had to work. So this is what happens when you entrust an 11 yr old with teens.

Hi everyone,

Suzie, that cider sounded good. I've made something called "Autumn Wine" which is basically cider mulled with spices and orange slices (complete with rind) to which you add some sherry. It's not bad either!

Darius, glad to hear the trip went well. Hope you're feeling a lot better by now.

Molly, it's really sounding exciting now. I hope the new place lives up to it's potential --- it's hard to see why it wouldn't! Enjoy!

dcat, was it your dog that killed the cat? I've been a cat person since birth, I think. I've met a few dogs that I could get along with and I do love to see wildlife around; however, I just never could really cosy up to anything that might have one of my beloved felines for lunch! There are coyotes around here these days which is why none of the cats is allowed out after dark.

dr, hope your dad is progressing rapidly each day. It sounds like he's been doing just that. I'm sure everyone will be much happier when he gets to go home.

Hi to all the other "regulars" here. I just can't manage to retain all the info from all these posts when I start typing!

DH finally managed to get the grow lights mounted today, so my poor rosemary plant is now out of the twilight (and even has it's own personal little fan trained on it ). Hopefully, this will work to keep it alive through another winter. I also dug up a clump of newly sprouted parsley, hoping to keep a supply of fresh herbs going this year.

Nothing good cooking or baking here today, I'm afraid. Friday is our late day at the store, we don't close until 8 PM. Tomorrow is another craft fair, which means getting up at 5AM, YUCK! Anyway, this combination means "take out", lovely unhealthy things like onion rings and spinach pies. DH is in his glory.

Well, as usual, three or four other people have probably posted while I was typing this. Good night all.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

You guys are all making me chuckle!!! Sooner or later, we might be all on the same page ? LOL

So glad u made it ok, d.... how soon does the turn around start?

Two worrisome days here in a row. Yesterday I got called 'off the floor' for my DGD. She had a temp and threw up at school and they couldn't get ahold of DD. The school nurse didn t identify herself and have DD paged so they put her thru to voice mail. By the time I got the message, had someone take over my call, run downstairs and call, she had gotten the msg and was on her way out the door. Whew! back 'on the floor' I went.

Today I get a msg, family emergency, call immediately... so deja vu here.... called DH and MIL was in intensive care. She had a bad nosebleed, she called the nurse from the home (she lives in attached apt, not assisted tho) and she got it stopped. An hour later it started again, nurse called SIL who took her to ER. They got it stopped, had her walk up and down the hall, did a blood test and were ready to release her when she collapsed. Her BP was so low they couldn t get a reading, got an IV line in, thumped her chest and literally squeezed in the first bag of saline to bring up her BP. She came out of it and is doing well now. They have a plug in her nose and tmr it will come out. If it starts to bleed again, she'll have to go to Sioux Falls Hosp to have it cauterized. Doesn t sound like too much fun! Too much excitement - I'm kinda pooped tonight!!

Not much else for news, porch is now on the house, roof is shingled, ready for deck floor - YEAH!!

kooger ... so sorry to hear about your MIL and everything else. It plumb wore me out reading it! :) Maria, if that Samson wants on the bed ... you won't be able to stop him, sweetie. ;) hehehehe I'd always said no dog was getting on MY bed. Then along came Kota. Well, she got ME trained. I at least managed to keep her off the furniture. She's sooo cute. When the DH comes to bed ... he just snaps his finger and up she goes ... right on to her bed. She knows she can't stay when Daddy's there. :-) Well, I can't keep up either, so I'm off to bed. Y'all get it figured out before morning. Sleep tight!

LOL, Elaine, he is NOT ever going on my bed, he is so big, I would have to move to another bed, he has never even once tried to get into it nor another piece of furniture, bought him a nice big bed and he loves it, wiil take a picture of it with him in it, if he will keep still for a minute

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Kooger, my best to your MIL, McCool I hope your rosemary does well inside with the lights, thank you Magoo and Maria, to the rest of you, good night, I am exhausted...

Casey

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good evening GOB's. Mary and McCool, yes, (shamefacedly) admitting that it was my German Shepherd that killed the cat. Don't know what he had against them, but never saw one he liked. I think that was the most horrible moment of my life.

Well, I really got butt into gear this afternoon. Finished cleaning up another flower bed, so I am all done putting things to bed, with the exception of washing a few more seedling trays. I have all the plants that I am saving in and they are doing well. I bought a waterbed heater this summer at a yard sale, and plan to use it this winter to start all my seeds. I did read that the electric blanket would work too, and I picked up one of those at a yard sale also.

The weather here was absolutely gorgeous today, kinda windy, but warm enough to work in short sleeves, and the wind helped me not break into a sweat.

I had some volunteer petunias this year, and they are still blooming. Couldn't bring myself to clear them, so will wait until colder weather takes them out.

I will check in tomorrow morning, but will be leaving about 11:00 to go to my sisters. I was sincere, if anyone wants shoes, let me know, and I will pick them up, and mail to you on Monday I wear Easy Spirit tennis shoes, so will be buying them for sure. Need some dress shoes, so will shop for those also.

Well, I am off to bed, hopefully to dream sweet dreams. Mr. B is over his pout about the bath, only took 4 hours this time!! Maria, you will probably have to have professionally bathed, since he is pretty good size. When I get back on Monday, am going to try to find a reliable pet sitter, as we have a short trip planned the week before Thanksgiving.

Oh speaking of Thanksgiving, we have been going to older sister's for years. Just this past week she called to say we were uninvited this year. Her son and his wife are hosting the Thanksgiving meal, and they don't have enough room to invite me and DH and my older brother. So I suppose the plan will be that DH and I will eat a bologna sandwich for Thanksgiving.!! It could be worse, I can't think how right now, but will ponder it for a future post!!

So Good night all, see you in the post for tomorrow.

Well, DD in my case stands for darling dog as I have no children. She is my baby ... and yes Maria ... she has a nice big bed in the den, my office and bedroom. But at night ... when Mama goes to bed ... you know before Daddy gets there ... well up she goes! For those of you who don't know it, she's my guide dog, so a couple hrs sleep on my bed at night is the least I can do for her. Okay okay ... so I'm a softie! I'm breaking all the rules!
My rosemary is going on 3 years old and lives outside. Darius says they bloom, but mine never never has. Maybe it got a cold or something. I dont know. It's a pretty thing ... just doesn't bloom!

P.S. I'll be back in here tomorrow to reply to those posts I haven't read yet.

If I didn't do that right, will someone kindly tell me? Oh and Judy, that's great about tomorrow's thread. Already got it marked!

IO1, WOW! Great photo of the rosemary!

Thanks, Darius. :)

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Darius! I'm SOOOOO GLAD you got there safe and sound. And I'm so glad you were there when they were setting Molly's mobile home. I'm sure she was delighted to have someone share in her excitement.

Elaine...I'm SO envious of anyone who can have Rosemary growing in their gardens. I *love* that stuff. I even managed to grow a couple of plants from seed this year...but it won't be long before the winter kills them off.

Kooger, I hope things are slowing down a bit your 'family emergency' dept. Around here things happen in 3's...so PLEASE be careful, ok?

Bonnie...I can only imagine how you felt with having your German Shepherd take off on you that way. But I *can* understand the dog. We had one that hated cats in that same way. I don't why there's such a deep seated emotion in some dogs.

Boooo Hoooooo...I THOUGHT I could do this...it's NOT working!!! I *still* can't get everyone into my post...I lost my place trying to get past the Chip n Dale pic and the 11 y/o ..... :-O

Forgive me...I still have 15 more threads in my watched list that I have to respond to. Waaaaaaaaaaa.....I think I need to GET OFF the computer and take a sabatical!!

LOL
